She took the extra time with appointments when she had an assistant and was able to beautifully groom my anxious golden doodle. I set up an appointment 2 weeks in advance for my yorkipooh Lola. I should have never came back. Very unprofessional. When I came back for the appointment the owner had my dogs name wrong. In addition to that before I could even fill out the information card. She sensed the apprehension in my dog and immediately started making excuses as to why she couldn't groom her today. Saying she herself had a finger infection and she had to be out the salon at a certain time. Asking me was she a biter because she couldn't deal with a biter today. My thoughts were. Isn't this your job? Aren't you trained to deal with all kinds of dogs? Not to mention my dog isn't a biter and she would have known that if she had even made an attempt to do her job. I didn't say a word. I just kindly walked out. If you're treating, my dog this poorly before the service, while I'm standing here . God knows what you will do when I'm gone. Business owner seemed lazy, unmotivated, unprofessional and had no regard for my time. The groomer himself even seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. The salon itself was just very unwelcoming. I was visiting family and brought my adorable multipoo Cali with me on my trip. Cali was in desperate need of a bath from the flight and traveling. I came across this salon and it is absolutely wonderful. I've never had my puppy look so fantastic or treated better. When she came out she was clean and looked like a brand new puppy. The salon is impeccably clean and Heidi the owner did the most phenomenal job. I've never had a groomer in CA do such an amazing groom on my fur baby Heidi is professional and so kind and treats my fur baby Cali as if she were her were her own. My only regret is that is that I don't live in Chicago so I could have her as Cali's groomer. I highly recommend this groomer. Five stars is not enough. I highly recommend going here. The lady I'm guessing she's the owner. Very rude individual. Had to exchange a few words with her and she called the police on me over parking. It's not about what you say it's how you say it! She was more worried about people parking in "her" loading zone then the dogs she had in there. I have a dog and wouldn't take him there just because of her unwelcoming attitude when talking to someone she doesn't know that could have been a potential client or anything. Let this be a lesson to people. Don't have a nasty attitude with people because you NEVER know who they are or what they are capable of doing. read more

I love Heidi and how she treats my dog Pepper. He looks great and is calm and adorable when I pick him up. My vet said the way his anal glands were drained was the most complete she had ever seen from a groomer. Heidi is focused on the dogs and their care so perhaps she does not have the time to divert her attention to the humans that are coming in the front. Everyone that compliments my dog gets a high recommendation from me. I always mention that she is very busy and not to expect to hang out with her and schmooze. Heidi isn't just a good groomer, she saved my dog's life! I started going to Dog Splash a couple years ago. Heidi has always done a great job with my sometimes cranky 11 yo Shih Tzu rescue pup. At last groom's pickup Heidi mentioned that she noticed a problem with one of my dog's testes. After a laugh over how these things get noticed in a salon I went home and made an appointment with the vet. It turned out my pup had testicular cancer and after a successful surgery he has made a complete recovery and os feeling great. I'm so glad to have such a competent, talented and responsible groomer so close to home. Oh, her salon is always clean, smells good, it's easy to find and has easy drop off/pick up parking as well. I would never take my dog to this groomer again - and I will tell everyone I know not to do it either; I just moved into the area; tried them once; it was an ok grooming; all along this owner said "I'm not taking any more dogs - not a welcoming feeling then"; the second visit; I feel she just rob me; ;she did not groom my dogs at all; yelp - she only shaved them on top; one of my dogs, she had matted hair behind her ears; never again; terrible experience. I said to myself, no way will I go there to complain; she is not friendly - either. My fiancé and I were in the neighborhood and walked into this boutique on a whim. We have a very spoiled dog at home and thought we'd bring something home for her or find a place to get her bathed. As soon as we walk in I say hello and that we're just browsing for a dog bone. Neither of the women say anything to us, one just points at a small selection of dog bones. No greeting, not even a smile. They watch my fiancé intently though, I'm not sure if it's because of his race but he told me he felt uncomfortable. Two times I have had mix ups with appointments, where I set up appointments and the groomer either didn't confirm it or put in in her book for a different time. Compared to other groomers I've gone to, they don't seem to know how to adjust expectations/times for different breeds or ages. If you have a shaggy puppy, she doesn't have the time or patience. Right off the bat - they did a really good job with my dog. The quality of work was amazing, and I had people making comments to me as I walked my dog home. There were a couple of service related things that made me less than a fan of this establishment. First, I have a shelter dog, she's afraid of humans but she doesn't lash out and she's not aggressive at all. I know that anyone who works with animals should always be cautious around dogs that are outgoing because you never fully know what an animal might do; however, I felt incredibly judged and felt condescension off the person checking me and my dog in. Like I said, I definitely understand that a dog that doesn't want to be there could be a danger and that you can't fully rely on what people say about their dogs but the attitude I got was a little much and palpable. Maybe it was in my head, maybe the person checking me in was having a bad day. I am willing to accept that I could have read the situation wrong - but having had my dog I'm used to people's reactions about her shyness and have never felt treated quite like this before. Second, the other issue I took kind of makes me believe the attitude wasn't in my head. When I went to pick up my dog the person up front was scheduling with another customer about when they would be going in next for the follow-up appointment. This is pretty customary, you want to retain business through repeat business...and yet she didn't ask me when I wanted to bring my dog back when it came time for me to pay out. I live a couple of blocks from this groomer, it's a super easy walk for me and my dog, but just the general feeling I got from this experience was off-putting enough that I'm just going to continue driving my dog to my preferred groomer in a different part of the city. read more

I've been going to dog splash for a few months now and initially i was in love with the place. They always know how to cut my dog's hair just the way that i want it. However, for the past few times that I have gone there the price of the spa package my dog gets so happens to go up higher and higher. I found this odd especially because ive been taking my dog here for quite some time now and found it funny that i was paying at least $10 more every month i came. When i look at my receipt theyre charging me for a medium sized dog when my dog only weighs 10 Ibs. if "medium" sized is 10 Ibs i wonder what large is. I can show receipt after receipt what ive been charged for the past few months and it seems that it just keeps increasing and increasing without notification. Although the price keeps going up, I still plan on bringing my dog here because they always do a good job with my dogs haircut. read more

She also allowed me to hold him during the grooming because he was so anxious, which really helped. She taught me a lot about dog care during the grooming. Dog Splash has been grooming my dog for 3yrs and I have never been disappointed with the service . I have a Labradoodle and understand that regular grooming is a must. If a dog is matted ,due to owner neglect , it has to be cut short . I have had a couple instances when my dog has had mats behind his ears, and yes I understand they needed to be cut short !!! I'm finally writing a review of Dog Splash because again- Heidi went so far above and beyond just good customer service. Moxie, our rat terrier mix, got into something so foul, I walked her directly to the groomer's door from Rogers Park. Not only was she kind enough not to tell me what she thought the substance was, but she eradicated all traces of the odor -much worse than the skunk bomb we brought her the last time! Her assistant BOILED the collar to return it to a wearable state. Next time I'm bringing her my matted 20 year old cat to shave. I have no doubt he'll look great. read more
