This Saturday, 10/18/25 Lauren, did a wonderful grooming for my Persian cat. As always, she makes everything easy and the communication flows. So grateful Lauren was able to squeeze us in the other day. My Maui had always gotten lion cuts because I felt like I was never able to get him thoroughly bathed. Lauren has changed our lives and now Maui doesn't need to do his lion cuts. She came right to our house and was so good with Maui. She clearly knows how to care for cats with anxiety. I discovered Purrvana as an anxious, helpless, overwhelmed, and terrified first-time cat mom, and I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for their services. One of my girls, Birdie, is a long-haired kitty who was 99.9% fluff for the first 1.5 years of her life. Despite my very best efforts and trials with 10+ different grooming tools, Birdie was dealing with chronic matting issues related to anxiety, pain, extreme sensitivity, and suspected feline hyperesthesia syndrome (FHS). After many visits to different vets, I was told that a total lion-cut was our last option to help my sweet Birdie girl feel and look better. She was prescribed high-dose Gabapentin and I was warned that if she couldn't handle professional grooming, then she would have to go under general anesthesia for a lion-cut at the vet. During my extensive research, I was immediately drawn to Purrvana, as they were offering mobile grooming services, which was an absolute dream come true for a Chicago girlie who 100% relies on CTA and Uber. Additionally, the owner, Lauren, has 20+ years of vet tech experience, and she reassured me that she would take good care of my Birdie. Within 24 hours of contacting Purrvana, we had a grooming appointment scheduled for two weeks out. On the morning of our appointment, Birdie was given another high dose of Gabapentin, put in her little carrier, and brought out to Lauren's van that was parked on the street right outside my apartment. She gave me a tour of the full grooming set-up in the back of her giant van and throughly explained her plan for Birdie. When I went to retrieve Birdie after an hour, I almost cried tears of joy and relief when Lauren told me that everything went well. Additionally, I was fully expecting and willing to pay as much as I needed to for this mobile grooming service, but I was pleasantly surprised for the total cost to be significantly less than I thought it would be. It has been about a month since Birdie's groom, and I am absolutely amazed at how much more confident and comfortable she appears. Birdie has always been incredibly calm, sweet, cuddly, and playful, but it has been absolutely magical to witness how those vibes of hers have just skyrocketed. I wholeheartedly recommend Purrvana and Lauren to anyone who is seeking full, partial, and/or specialized grooming services for their feline friends! I am so excited to bring Birdie back for her complimentary follow-up groom soon, and I will absolutely be scheduling my short-haired girl, Lucy, for a spa day as well. I have an 18-year-old longhaired cat who was horribly matted (and miserable). I had called another groomer who made me feel like asking for her to get groomed was completely risky and out of line.
