I also loved how you can conveniently text them, both to schedule appointments, get clarity on specific questions, get quotes for grooming, and for pick up alerts! They were also kind enough to touch up one spot when I picked up by dog and wanted a little more hair taken off in a specific area. I'm not sure who specifically did my dog's grooming, but one thing I thought is maybe they need to pay a little more attention to detail. I noticed when I got home that the hair in between the paw pads was still pretty long. But maybe that's just also something we need to point out so they know to do it! TL:DR Make sure to ask to see where the dogs are kept before you drop your dog off here. After reading the good reviews, I booked an appointment for my dog. He is small and short haired and just needed a bath and a nail clipping. They told me 2 hours, which I knew meant he would be waiting for some of the time. After 2 and a half hours, I texted and called to ask if he was ready yet and received no response. After 3 hours, I drove there in case I had missed a message and was told he was STILL WAITING. I finally got a call to pick him up 4 hours after drop off. Because it had been so long, I asked if I could see where he had been kept all this time. In a basement room with no windows, in a wire cage, with other caged dogs crowded around. As soon as we got out he peed and pooped, so apparently hadn't been walked in all that time either. And when we got home he drank about a gallon of water so I don't know how much water (if any) he was given. I am sure the grooming part is fine, but it is not okay to keep dogs for hours on end in those conditions. I will never go back here again, and I encourage everyone to ask at this groomer and others to see WHERE the dogs are kept after you drop them off. read more

Isaac and Austin are grooming GODS. We had been hopping between groomers, trying to find one that could take care of our Newfoundland. A 150 lb, easy matting double coat, drool infused smelly mess. From downtown to Rockford we have been to them all and all were equally disappointing. Buds N' Suds is the BEST grooming place you will ever go to. The absolute BEST. Our Newfoundland, Bear, had an accident and Isaac and Austin kindly let us make an emergency last min appointment. After calling us to let us know the dogs were done.... I kid you not, we picked up completely different looking pups! They got so much hair off of our Newfoundland that he was half the size and both smelled AMAZING. I am an extreme perfectionist and normally disappointed when I pick the dogs up, but not here! They did an incredible job. I had a couple special requests like cutting the sanitary areas very short, and clipping the hair between the paws short so they don't slip and slide on our hard wood floors. The dogs were absolutely perfect down to every detail. Isaac and Austin have exceeded all exceptions. They took their time and went above and beyond what I asked for. They even have an outdoor area for the pups to use the bathroom. I've set up monthly reoccurring appointments and only wish they cut human hair so I could look as great as my dogs do. read more

Today I brought my dog Gracie an Australian Shephard in for a grooming service. I met the owner first thing in the morning, so we can discuss my dog and her fears of the dryer . I asked that they trim hair on her butt and under her front legs. I came to pick her up and they shaved my dogs entire body !!! I asked who shaved my beautiful dogs hair? Who told you to do this to my dog? I was so upset I paid the bill, took my dog and left. When I got home I needed to express my disappointment in this service, That owner said this to me in a text " We're sorry for the confusion, we were trying to give her a nicer summer haircut. We apologize and will give you a 20% discount on your next visit" I didn't ask for a summer cut or a discount, I wanted my dogs soft and beautiful coat back. He apologized but the damage was done. I asked for a refund which, he did return in full. I just wanted what I asked for but now my beautiful dog was shaved going into fall. When I went they told me they had to cut my dog's hair really short since she had a lot of knots which is fine. However he mentioned he would leave the tail puffed just how it was which I agreed with because she has a short tail so shaved would look bad. I know for a fact that the tail didn't have any knots because the hair there was really short. They said she would be ready in 3.5 hours. They actually took 5 hours and when I get home I noticed that they did shave her tail! Without letting me know! I absolutely loooove Austin and Isaac. We moved here a year or so ago and our one dog has a history of not behaving well when it comes to getting his nails done. Back in St. Louis, where we are originally from, we searched high and low and finally found a groomer that would put up with Duncan. He would pull every stunt to get who ever was cutting his nails to stop; peeing on the table, pooping on the table and my personal favorite, expressing his anal glands. We knew moving up here would be problematic trying to find a groomer that would work. We took him to a total of 5 places before we finally found Buds and Suds. Each place before would ultimately call me over the loud speaker to come back and get him after about 5 minutes of his nonsense. But then we found our own personal Cesar Milan. Isaac is amazing. Duncan is like a different dog when we bring him to see our friends at Buds and Suds. He might buck here and there but both Isaac and Austin do an incredible job of creating a zen space and have the kinds of personalities that put my animals at ease in an otherwise chaotic scenario. We are forever grateful for having found these two and wouldn't trust anyone else with our animals. We are customers for life. The owners, Austin and Isaac, are genuinely good and honest people. Their prices are amazing, especially in light of the fact that everything in Chicago is so much more expensive than back home in STL. This is a wonderful grooming salon staffed by very nice individuals. They do quality work and really care about the animals entrusted to them. My dog always comes out happy and looking super cute. They are easy to communicate with and do a great job. They are also down to earth and do not do the "shaming" I've gotten at other groomers if I've gone a few weeks too long between groomings.
