I did a lot of research when looking for a good grooming place to bring my dog, Penni. Happy to report back validation that my experience echoed all the good reviews before mine. From the initial conversation via text to get more info to the follow-up information requested via email, I appreciated the friendly demeanor of the front desk staff and I appreciated the thoroughness (and ease) of their intake process (e.g. - requesting vaccination records and any important health background/concerns). My dog was very nervous upon arrival to this unfamiliar place but at pick-up, she had done a complete 180. She was long overdue for a grooming appointment and she came back looking so sharp and clean. She truly looked younger. Will definitely be bringing her back. read more

I've been trying to find a new dog grooming salon ever since ours increased prices by 50%! I did like Buds n Suds. The owner, Isaac, was really nice. It was cool to get to know him, chat with him a bit, and hear about how much he loves dogs. I also loved how you can conveniently text them, both to schedule appointments, get clarity on specific questions, get quotes for grooming, and for pick up alerts! They were also kind enough to touch up one spot when I picked up by dog and wanted a little more hair taken off in a specific area. I'm not sure who specifically did my dog's grooming, but one thing I thought is maybe they need to pay a little more attention to detail. I noticed when I got home that the hair in between the paw pads was still pretty long. But maybe that's just also something we need to point out so they know to do it! Overall, they had a better price than other places and are worth checking out! read more

Can't say enough great things about Buds N Suds! Everyone that works there is so friendly. Isaac is so caring and patient with my poodle rescue, and is always willing to give me suggestions and tips on how to take care of my girls coat. Our bernedoodle puppy, Godzuki, just had his first grooming appointment here and we could not be happier with the result. Issac and his staff are professional, easy-going and you can tell that there is a true love of animals here. I particularly love how the vibe here is very relaxed as opposed to other groomers who seem more focused on cranking through as many dogs as possible. The cut is exactly what we were looking for (shaped without being too "poodley"), his coat is like silk, nails and pads given extra care and smells wonderful. We have been looking for our permanent groomer and see no reason why would keep looking after coming here. Thanks again! read more

Irresponsible af. The first time Frankie went to buds was great. They didn't give me the option of booking his next appt at the time &told me they'd reach out when he was due for another one...they didn't. So I reached out to them &got a "confirmation" the day of Frankie's original appointment. lol. I tried to be understanding & was willing to book a new appointment. Then I waited for over an hour on the day of the new appointment before I got an "I overslept" text. Once *again* I was trying to be understanding & was willing to reschedule ANOTHER appt ...but then I just never got a response back. Still haven't. The earliest appt i could make w/another groomer was may 26th. So now my Maltese is way overdue for a haircut--perfect for this warm weather coming up. Thanks, Buds. read more

My two senior pups (one doodle one mutt) went to buds n suds for the first time today and we are blown away. They look INCREDIBLE and most importantly, they were so well taken care of and came home so happy. One of my guys is 13 with really weak back legs. They gave him the breaks he needed -- and even took him out for a potty break. Thank you thank you Buds N Suds! We can't wait to see you again in 8 weeks. read more

My dog Misty has now been twice and both times she comes out smelling superb. They're very kind and I trust that they treat her well behind the scenes, too. I can't believe I ever used to go to places like pet supermarkets for grooming when local shops show much more care and are more affordable... and buds n suds is right on the mark there. Thank you for taking care of my baby! read more

Had my lab/pit girl get groomed here and they were SO AMAZING! She got her nails clipped and ears cleaned and she's typically very scared (due to past experiences at PETCO). They were so quick, calmed her down, and took excellent care of her. I will be returning and bring my other doggie here too in the future! Love the vibe of the place too. Modern, great music, friendly staff and easy parking. read more

The team at Buds n'suds couldn't be anymore welcoming. Our baby boy Thor looks forward to his visits. He nails and coat look fabulous when he returns. So easy to book, check in and our dogs wags his tail when popping in. Can't ask for more. Highly recommend. read more

Honestly- they were amazing. They finished with my Siberian Husky on time, they kept me posted on how she was doing, they took all safety precautions before during and after her visit. Amazing experience all around! 10/10 recommend. Booked an appointment for our golden retriever. We booked her for a bath and grooming service as well as their deshedding treatment. Making the appointment was very easy and the person I spoke to over the phone was very nice. Great first impression. My husband dropped our girl off and he also agreed they were very nice and welcoming. So welcoming that our daughter thought my husband knew them personally . When my golden came home she looked gorgeous! Her coat was beautiful, soft, and her cut was perfect! I can't say enough good things about this whole experience. Worth every penny! My only regret is not finding Buds n' Suds sooner We'll definitely be back every season. read more

I brought our 14 year old pug in for grooming and a nail trim while I was in town visiting my daughter. I was so pleased with the attention that Isaac snd Austin gave Brady. His coat was so soft and his nails were trimmed perfectly! But most of all Brady was so happy to have the special care from them. And as a senior dog who is mostly blind and deaf, he was completely at ease in their salon. I'm looking forward to bringing back again! read more

We wanted to find a new groomer after going to a chain a few times. We found the perfect place. Austin and Amanda treated our Bonnie Blu with the utmost care. We were so impressed by the service. Isaac and Austin are grooming GODS. We had been hopping between groomers, trying to find one that could take care of our Newfoundland. A 150 lb, easy matting double coat, drool infused smelly mess. From downtown to Rockford we have been to them all and all were equally disappointing. Buds N' Suds is the BEST grooming place you will ever go to. The absolute BEST. Our Newfoundland, Bear, had an accident and Isaac and Austin kindly let us make an emergency last min appointment. After calling us to let us know the dogs were done.... I kid you not, we picked up completely different looking pups! They got so much hair off of our Newfoundland that he was half the size and both smelled AMAZING. I am an extreme perfectionist and normally disappointed when I pick the dogs up, but not here! They did an incredible job. I had a couple special requests like cutting the sanitary areas very short, and clipping the hair between the paws short so they don't slip and slide on our hard wood floors. The dogs were absolutely perfect down to every detail. Isaac and Austin have exceeded all exceptions. They took their time and went above and beyond what I asked for. They even have an outdoor area for the pups to use the bathroom. I've set up monthly reoccurring appointments and only wish they cut human hair so I could look as great as my dogs do. read more

TL:DR Make sure to ask to see where the dogs are kept before you drop your dog off here. After reading the good reviews, I booked an appointment for my dog. He is small and short haired and just needed a bath and a nail clipping. They told me 2 hours, which I knew meant he would be waiting for some of the time. After 2 and a half hours, I texted and called to ask if he was ready yet and received no response. After 3 hours, I drove there in case I had missed a message and was told he was STILL WAITING. I finally got a call to pick him up 4 hours after drop off. Because it had been so long, I asked if I could see where he had been kept all this time. In a basement room with no windows, in a wire cage, with other caged dogs crowded around. As soon as we got out he peed and pooped, so apparently hadn't been walked in all that time either. And when we got home he drank about a gallon of water so I don't know how much water (if any) he was given. I am sure the grooming part is fine, but it is not okay to keep dogs for hours on end in those conditions. I will never go back here again, and I encourage everyone to ask at this groomer and others to see WHERE the dogs are kept after you drop them off. read more

Isaac and Austin at Buds N Suds are amazing! Our Springers are super codependent and scared of grooming and they took the best care of them. The dogs were much less stressed when I picked them up than other places they've been. They do an amazing job, and they're sweethearts too! read more

Today I brought my dog Gracie an Australian Shephard in for a grooming service. I met the owner first thing in the morning, so we can discuss my dog and her fears of the dryer . I asked that they trim hair on her butt and under her front legs. I came to pick her up and they shaved my dogs entire body !!! I asked who shaved my beautiful dogs hair? Who told you to do this to my dog? I was so upset I paid the bill, took my dog and left. When I got home I needed to express my disappointment in this service, That owner said this to me in a text " We're sorry for the confusion, we were trying to give her a nicer summer haircut. We apologize and will give you a 20% discount on your next visit" I didn't ask for a summer cut or a discount, I wanted my dogs soft and beautiful coat back. He apologized but the damage was done. I asked for a refund which, he did return in full. I just wanted what I asked for but now my beautiful dog was shaved going into fall. We all make mistakes and I know that was not your intention but it's what happened. People need to be aware read more

Hands down, the best groomer in Chicago. Usually we only get the nail services. I've always just washed her in my back yard; but this time we decided to go with a full service and I was so impressed with the work they did. I really thought what difference could it make? It is HUGE! My dog Cookie looks better than the first day I got her. Plus great pricing, fast, amazing and prompt service. Cookie gets separation anxiety but she's was super happy when I came back to get her. She's not the easiest dog to groom so I assume they're very patient with her and treat her nicely. Best doggy groomers we have ever used. Simply the best! They always treat my dog and me with the utmost respect.

When I went they told me they had to cut my dog's hair really short since she had a lot of knots which is fine. However he mentioned he would leave the tail puffed just how it was which I agreed with because she has a short tail so shaved would look bad. I know for a fact that the tail didn't have any knots because the hair there was really short. They said she would be ready in 3.5 hours. They actually took 5 hours and when I get home I noticed that they did shave her tail! Without letting me know! I don't appreciate them doing something without my knowledge because I definitely would've said not to. Won't be taking her there again. read more

Isaac the groomer is a true artist and as gentle and loving of the dogs as anyone could hope for. I have never had a better groomer and I have had five dogs. Austin and Isaac run a small quality business and I highly recommend them. Recently I had to put my sweet 13 year old dog to sleep. I am extremely sad and today they hand delivered the most beautiful healing card. Give them the opportunity to serve you. You will be very happy and so will your pet. read more

I absolutely loooove Austin and Isaac. We moved here a year or so ago and our one dog has a history of not behaving well when it comes to getting his nails done. Back in St. Louis, where we are originally from, we searched high and low and finally found a groomer that would put up with Duncan. He would pull every stunt to get who ever was cutting his nails to stop; peeing on the table, pooping on the table and my personal favorite, expressing his anal glands. We knew moving up here would be problematic trying to find a groomer that would work. We took him to a total of 5 places before we finally found Buds and Suds. Each place before would ultimately call me over the loud speaker to come back and get him after about 5 minutes of his nonsense. But then we found our own personal Cesar Milan. Isaac is amazing. Duncan is like a different dog when we bring him to see our friends at Buds and Suds. He might buck here and there but both Isaac and Austin do an incredible job of creating a zen space and have the kinds of personalities that put my animals at ease in an otherwise chaotic scenario. We are forever grateful for having found these two and wouldn't trust anyone else with our animals. We are customers for life. The owners, Austin and Isaac, are genuinely good and honest people. Their prices are amazing, especially in light of the fact that everything in Chicago is so much more expensive than back home in STL. It wouldn't matter anyway, we would still come and see our friends at Buds and Suds for any of our pet grooming needs. And so should you!! read more

I highly recommend going to Buds N' Suds! My pug and I just moved to the neighborhood and I needed a new place to take her to be groomed. I cannot speak highly enough of Buds N Suds! Not only do they do amazing grooming work on my super hyper, hard to handle pup, but they also make him SO happy. He is excited to go there and sad when he has to leave! His cut always turns out excellent and exactly how I like it. Best grooming shop hands down! Not to mention Eli is an absolute ARTIST! If you love your pet this is the place to treat them to.

I really wish I knew about Buds N' Suds for my previous dogs. But better late than never. I took my sweet (but rambunctious and anxious) 6-month-old mini goldendoodle there for a grooming. Eli did a wonderful job with my Josie, getting rid of the mats, taking care of her nails, and making her look like more of a princess than she already is. He even sent me follow-up links for grooming utensils I would need for her. From the moment I spoke with Tommy to the time I picked her up, everything went really well. I recommend this grooming service without qualification. read more
