    My little guy getting walked.
    Mike W.

I've been using this service for a few months and he is great. Very prompt and courteous. I got an older puppy who is extremely skittish and jack has been so great with him. He went through a period where he was so nervous he was just peeing all the time on me and jack, but jack stuck it out and would even clean up when I wasn't around. now puppy doesn't have anymore accidents! I get a txt everyday and a little message about their walks, and last minute changes are easily accommodated! He is definitely a step above other walkers in the area. Services can't be beat and prices are reasonable. I only wish he would open his own daycare so I could send my dog there too!

The text and photo we get after every Cat Visit.Very thoughtful and reassuring!

Jack and his team are absolutely wonderful! We've used them for the Cat Visits and Vacation Care. My fiance and I really enjoyed Jack's process of meeting us first and talking 1 on 1. It put us at ease that we weren't just letting a stranger into our home. We take the care of our animals very seriously and have only ever entrusted family previously. We've now used Uptown Pet Services about 5 times and every time has been great! Scheduling a visit is just a quick email and they are available on holidays and weekends. I think the price is also very reasonable and it really does pay for peace of mind while we are away. After every visit, we get a text about what they did (refilled food, changed kitty litter, etc.) along with pictures of the cats (usually one hiding under the bed and the other soaking up all the attention!) I included an example below. We also have a betta fish that they graciously feed as well. I researched a lot of pet sitting options and they are definitely the best!

I get an update and picture after each walk!

Wow! Jack is awesome! Let me start by saying that we had a horrible experience boarding our 3 little Shih Tzus at a doggy daycare a few months back. After that we decided we would find someone to do in home care when we travel. We found Jack's flyer and gave him a call. He came over for an intake and spent a long time with us asking about our preferences and getting to know our dogs. We found out that he had many years experience providing in home care for pets and he's insured. His prices are clear and fair. I receive an update and picture after each walk and if I have a question about the walk, Jack responds quickly. The best part is that he lives in our neighborhood! I feel so comfortable knowing Jack is right around the corner while I'm out of the state. He is flexible and was able to take care of our dogs last minute when we decided on a Thursday to go out of town on Sunday. Jack has amazing energy and I laughed the whole time we talked. You can tell by his words and actions that he truly loves animals and I know he really cares for my dogs and gives them the love and attention I want them to get while I'm gone. Jack is a rare gem in a field where you're not always sure what you're going to get. I'm grateful we found Uptown Pet Services. I highly recommend Jack to picky pet owners who want personalized service for their pet.

We love getting picture updates from our dog's walks!

I haven't ever left my dog for a night since adopting him but I know that when I finally do I'll trust Liza to watch him. I am seriously so grateful to my neighbor that referred me. Before using Pokey Pets I was using a larger dog walking business, spending more and was nervous about having a different person in my apartment every day that really didn't know my dog. I love having the same walker everyday that my dog knows and loves and doesn't judge my messy apartment. She send amazing photos and sincere updates after every walk. Couldn't recommend more!

This service started out really well but has turned really unprofessional. The owner and sole…read moreemployee of the business tends to take things personally that aren't. On multiple occasions she has misinterpreted my intent and sent me either page long texts or emails describing her feelings about something I said or did that she didn't like for various reasons. She is far too quick to fly off the handle before getting clarification. I thought this was a professional relationship but I have ended up spending way too much of my time having to manage communication. This is where things unraveled... On Aug. 19th, Liza texted me to say that her schedule slows down around 3-4pm and said that if I wanted regular walks for my dog, she can do them for really cheap. I didn't need the walks but figured "why not" since they were so cheap. This is key. I did not need the walks. I did not ask for the walks. Had she not approached me, I wouldn't have ever done these walks. We decided on every Wednesday. On Sept. 12th, Liza texted me that she couldn't do the walk due to a personal matter. I said fine. We had, however, scheduled walks for the next three days, so the next day I texted her to confirm she could still do those scheduled walks. My partner and I were concerned that she may need more time to deal with the personal matter and just wanted to make sure we didn't need to find another walker. In fact, this is exactly what I said "Good morning. Hope you're feeling better. So we have you lined up for the next three days and I just need to know if I can depend on you being able to walk the pups because we won't be able to come back to take care of them. If you're not feeling up to it, I completely understand. Just need to know so that I can make other arrangements if need be." Instead of just getting a yes or no, I received a text saying that she doesn't think she has done anything in the past to make me think she is unreliable and then jumped to the conclusion that I may want to completely terminate the service, asking me if I wanted my key back. It was really confusing and total overkill for what I thought was a simple text confirming service. I clarified by saying that this isn't what I meant and that I just wanted to know if she needed more time to deal with the personal matter. I got a long response about how everyone needs to take time off sometimes and that if I wanted recommendations for a different walker, she could provide them. Again, I WAS COMPLETELY FINE WITH THE TIME OFF AND NEVER SAID OTHERWISE. So once I again said I was just making sure, she confirmed service and completed service. I then asked for vacation pet-care in October and we arranged for such care. Yesterday I got an email saying we need to change our Wednesday's to another day because she is now overbooked. Since I didn't need those walks to begin with, I said we could just not do them. I got an email back about how she's been so good to me and given discounts but that apparently they haven't been well received so maybe we should just do standard rates from now on. I was fine with this so I responded with, "sounds like a plan." The reply I got was whether she should remove the October vacation care that we had previously scheduled. WTF. I responded that I don't see why we would do that since my plans hadn't changed but considering this weird communication that it might actually be for the best. The reply I got was very lengthy and went on to say how ungrateful I was and how generous those cheap Wednesday walks (THAT I DID NOT NEED OR SEEK OUT) were; she states that she offered that price to work with my limited budget. Again, WTF. See above. THEN she told me my entitlement was something she chose not to deal with and was now forced to terminate the relationship. Thought that's what I had just done but ok. I've had breakups with romantic partners that weren't this dramatic. If you choose to go with Pokey, I recommend you tread lightly and be very careful with what you say and how.
