My gsd used the walk on station and staff was really great at helping me with my first time using the stations. The owner was inexplicably rude and aggressive. My husband dropped our dog off and was told that the grooming would take approximately 2 hours. After 2 hours had passed, I called THREE times to ask for an update as I had a work call to attend shortly thereafter. No one answered. Since we live nearby, I decided to stop by for an update. I found my dog in distress - panting and whining uncontrollably. My dog has never reacted to a groomer like this before. While I spoke to the assistant groomer and tried to calm him down, the owner decided it was appropriate to yell at me and told me to take my dog home (even though they had not even started to groom him). This behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I didn't raise my voice, make accusations, or otherwise act inappropriately. The owner needs to adjust her attitude and treat customers, and their dogs, with respect. There are plenty of comparable groomers in the area - take your business elsewhere. read more

I realize 5 stars is generous but finding this place feels like a major discovery. My dog is a corgi-beagle mix with a lot of hair. She is older and a bit skiddish with strangers. Not necessarily friendly when it comes to groomers. And with the pandemic, she hadn't been bathed in over a year. I decided to try this place and it was the best! The shop is clean and orderly. Plus they have specialty items as needed for our pet babies. They do regular grooming as well. The owner and her assistant were so kind and walked me through everything as a first timer. She even tolerated my cute but nosey chihuahua. I can't say enough nice things about this place except that its a game changer. My dog trotted out like a supermodel her coat was shiny and clean. read more

The staff is friendly enough, but I'm really unhappy with the last cut my dog got here. His fur was uneven, and there are still large mats of fur under his ears. It's also a little pricey and takes much longer than other groomers I've tried in the area. For its location, it's pretty convenient. But I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Our poodle mixes are regularly groomed here, and we have always been very happy with the experience. We feel like our dogs are in good hands and they look beautiful when we pick them up. I appreciate that they even take the dogs for a quick walk when they are finished with the grooming. read more

The grooming services are a mixed bag here. Be careful the groomer that you get. The first time I brought in my dog (mini goldendoodle), the groomer did a great job detangling her mats and she came out looking wonderful. The woman who groomed Lyra told me it would be a couple of hours and she called to check in after two hours saying it would take a little bit longer due to her matting. I appreciated the check in. However, the second time I brought Lyra in, I gave the same specifications and she looked so different! The grooming only took 1.5 hrs and I know why - it's because they shaved her down to the skin. The owner/groomer said it was due to matting, but to me it just feels lazy. With the summer in Chicago, this is tough because she's more subject to sunburns and I have to be careful not to expose her to too much outdoors. This is unfortunate because we love taking her to the dog beach :/ however, it's not so much the cut that bothers me as the fact that she had blood on her muzzle and forelegs when I picked her up. They told me she bit her tongue, but she's never done that before and it's hard to know what actually happened. The groomer did not finish her face or nails, but did offer to finish up at a later date when I asked. But frankly I did not feel comfortable bringing my dog back. My dog's tongue continued to bleed onto her muzzle and forelegs for the remainder of the day and nighttime, to the point where I had to immobilize her and put socks on her paws to keep her from licking her legs and reopening her wound. Very nice shower hose allows you to control the pressure and temperature of the water. The drying/combing station has several different brushes to detangle the hair after the wash. My dog loved the attention and one-on-one time she got with me. She didn't want to leave and wanted to explore the place when we were done with her bath. read more

Have a hairy dog that sheds like no tomorrow and washing the hairball at home takes half the day? If you answered yes, you NEED to come here. Self service dog wash, they supply everything. Just bring your hairball. Shampoo (two kinds available, two different smells, both of which are divine!), microfiber towels, huge tub so you're not bending over in your bathtub/shower scrubbing the fella while breaking your back! Two of us were able to fit in one station comfortably while washing our dog. They also have aprons so you don't get all wet when your dog shakes off all the water. Water temperature is set to not surpass a certain degree (which can cause your pet to shed more) thoroughly explained to us via the wonderful woman that was there (I'm so sorry I forgot your name but you're a doll!) Drying stations with more towels and grooming tools along with conditioner and de-tangling solution! OH, and their dryer, TO DIE FOR! Your dog stays in one spot and not running around like a chicken with its head cut off whilst drying. The nice woman also offered to have us try a strawberry lemonade pet spray! De-tangling not equipment too. They have extra add ons like a de-skunking shampoo, odor shampoo, oatmeal, oils treatments galore! I absolutely love it and will definitely come back. Great staff, super clean and really good price. $20, we stayed for 2 hours, could've made a new dog out of all the hair he shed! They also have groomers there if you don't want to do it yourself. I found an adorable and very very dirty stray who had been dumped. There was no way to take him to his foster home until he was cleaner. I took him to Spotless, and they were busy with two other appointments, but worked hard to squeeze me in. My name is Sawyer. I am half beagle, half Australian cattle dog and my mommy is helping me write this post, since keyboards are difficult to maneuver when you have paws. I'm going to tell you a secret that you have to promise not to tell any local squirrels: I'm scared of baths. I love being stinky and having dirt on my ears! However, despite my cries and epic battle moves, my mommy still manages to get me in the bathtub about once a month to clean me. I think she likes it even less than me, because I always make our house soaking and manage to get my fur and stinkiness all over the bathroom. Last week, though, we both had lots of fun when I got my bath at Spotless Dog Wash! The staff gave me lots of pets and cuddles to make me calm. And they gave me treats to get me up the ramp to the scary bath tub! Even the water temperature was better than at home, since it's set especially for dogs! Unfortunately, my mommy wore an apron that made it impossible for me to get her wet, but she seemed to be happy about that. I got to bark lots and lots since we weren't in the apartment. I love barking, so this made me a lot calmer than usual. Also, since my mommy was the one washing me still, I wasn't scared like I would be at the groomer's. But she wasn't nearly as grumpy about bath time as she usually is, because she didn't have to spend an hour cleaning up like she usually does! Plus they had lots of fancy things to clean me there, like dental wipes and ear wipes. Mommy says we'll be going there every month for my bath now, and I'm excited for our next trip, because they have toys and treats there for me too! Great place! Just bring your dog in, they got everything you need right there and ready for you. My dog was much easier to wash here, I think because they have all the right tools, water that automatically stays the right temperature, washtubs that are raised so you don't have to bend over and you're looking across at your dog, tons of other smart touches. Very well thought out. And, the person who was there when I went in was a former dog groomer, so she gave me some good tips (I've washed a dog before, but I'm no expert). And, you don't have to clean up after and have your house smell like wet dog like you would if you washed your dog at home. Highly recommend! read more

I've had some great (albeit quite expensive) baths for my dog here. But 3 times they've scheduled me for an appointment and then when I arrived, they said I had the wrong time. Each time, they said they called or texted me when they assumed I was late--two of those times I had no record of them contacting me. I brought my sister's dog Jake to Spotless to bathe him. It was my first time at Spotless and my first time bathing him. He doesn't like baths and weights 90 lbs so I was a little worried about how it would go. Everyone at Spotless was so helpful and nice to us. They have everything you need to bath your dog. There is even a tub for the big dogs! Jake loved his bath and he got a special treat at the end. I can't recommend this place enough. Worth every penny! I would pay any amount of money to not have to wash my sweet pup at home! After finding parking in their lot (which took a little bit of time about 5-10 minutes) I waltzed in and was helped right away. Then given instructions on how to use the tub and sprayer. Then it was suggested that the deshedding package would be a great option for my Shiba Inu who is right on the edge of blowing her coat. SOLD! Anything to help!!! I'd have to say hands down the worth it moment for me was when the blower came into play! She got dry and knocked loose the rest of the stubborn hair that didn't want to release during washing. Excellent service. Friendly employees who know what they are doing. When I first called to try to make an appointment, I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. When I asked to make an appointment within 2 days, they were able to book me. Unfortunately, I missed my google notification to leave work and grab pooch and arrive with time to spare. When I realized my appointment was coming up, I called to ask if being 15 minutes late would be an issue. The employees were very accommodating. Another plus of this dog grooming service is that they are in a parking lot. This seems trivial, but not if you live in Evanston, where parking can be tricky, aka, cost money. Once I arrived, I was greeted by the employees and the head groomer asked me very specific details about how I wanted my dog groomed. It made sense, as I have a miniature schnauzer and there are customary grooming techniques. But, I didn't want the standard schnauzer cut, I wanted a shave all the way down and I believe that they were just checking to make sure I wanted everything buzzed. Very thorough questioning. I was able to head back to work and do a few hours more of stuff and then I received a phone call. Petco used to be my go-to grooming service, but they are terrible about calling you when your dog is finished being groomed. I once waited over an hour, when my dog was done, for them to call. They "forgot". Given that Spotless Dog Wash is a small business, I doubt they'd forgot, but still, a prompt call was appreciated. Best part, the price. Really can't beat it. I will be returning! Also, I'm not sure why this place isn't busier. It's great. read more

Managing a skittish 100 plus pound baby of a chocolate lab who will spend hours swimming in Lake Michigan or a pond (smellier the better) but who will not take a bath at home requires patience and help which Spotless Dog wash delivered in spades. Thank you for your understanding in allowing us to take a few desensitization trips to the washing station without the wash and thank you for the help getting the big baby into the wash. The experience was wonderful and all of the dogs getting their wonderful grooming service looked fabulous. TLDR: Pricing can be quite high and is inconsistent every time I come. One of the groomers was rude and unprofessional. Service is inconsistent. My girlfriend and I were looking for a groomer in the Evanston area near Northwestern and this was the closest one. There were no recent reviews, but most of the reviews seemed good. I would agree with the person who said that the service/quality is mixed - you never know what you are going to get. The first time we went, the service seemed good: groomer was friendly, sent pictures, called to let us know when to pickup, and was done in an hour. The next 2-3 times, we did not receive pictures anymore and it sometimes took over 2 hours, which is fine if we knew in advance, but I don't know if my dog is being crated or not and how many dogs they keep at a time. Today we took our puppy and it seemed busier and so perhaps that is why the groomer was not as friendly although she was not rude at all. After 2 hours and not receiving any pictures or updates, we called to check in and they told us it would be about a half hour longer. This was at 2:20 pm. At 3:52 pm, we received a text saying: this is a reminder. However, we presumed we would get a call or update like we have gotten in the past. We live very close and there is no reason we would choose to leave our puppy alone. The groomer was rude when we picked Angel up and told us we shouldn't leave our dog behind. Then she went to the back to get someone to ring us up and she pointed back at us while rolling her eyes and shaking her head. That was very unnecessary and rude. There was clearly a miscommunication and we did not understand that we would not be receiving a call or text when our puppy was done. In addition, our puppy's face is cut in a way we did not ask that makes him look like a terrier (he is a mini Goldendoodle) To top it off, every time we come, the price is different even though we always request the same service. The price, service, and quality of the cut is unpredictable and after today, I do not think we will be back due to the rude service. read more

After a bad experience, I was already thinking of never going back, but 2 days after the appointment we attempted to brush our puppy (something we have always done daily) and he was very afraid of the brush. So in addition to the terrible service on my last visit, I am also concerned about their treatment of my puppy. It could just be a sudden change in my puppy, but I feel it may be connected to the groomer visit, especially since I have such an easygoing puppy who is frequently able to sleep through his grooming appointments and being brushed at home. read more

The best part about this place are the doggie hair dryers, which make drying a dog after a bath a total breeze. This is probably worth the $20 you pay to wash your dog here. But I am unimpressed with the quality of the shampoo and also unimpressed that when I asked for better shampoo, I was charged an extra $10 for a tiny amount of oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. Their regular shampoo is totally watered down, so you know they're raking in the bucks for nothing much, really. Also, it is absolutely impossible to change the stream on their water hoses, so the water either dribbles out or you're blasting your dog with intense water pressure. Neither is helpful to wash a dog. Yes, this is a self-washing dog establishment, but you're not getting much for your $20 except convenience, I suppose. I've been twice and I would rather pay a bit more money to a groomer instead of having to do this myself with crappy products. read more

Their wonderful facilities made it so easy, and natural products, towels everything you may need. Debra was so helpful advising me about the type of grooming our pup will need...and how brushing her often will help keep her curly coat from matting. I recently took Bella in for a full grooming, "a summer cut" because she loves the dog beach so much. They spent nearly 2 hours on her, and were so gentl brushing out the tangles. We love Spotless. We started coming here after my pup, who despises water, had a few bad experiences with other groomers. She would be visibly anxious and stressed before and after the groomings. The employees at Spotless were very helpful and explained the process and products and keep the shop very clean. My pup was much happier and less stressed to be bathed by us than a stranger. I also don't have to mess with making an appointment - I just walk right in whenever it's convenient. I brought my goldendoodle in this summer for a self serve wash. They truly provide everything you need to get your dog super clean. Unfortunately, this is not my forte, and I felt like my pup wasn't as clean as she should be. Last week, I brought her to Spotless for a full service wash, where they gave her a bath, trimmed her nails and brushed her out. It was awesome! They took such great care of her and accommodated her shaggy hair and fear of the blow dryer by taking their time and being gentle with her. She needed a mid-winter grooming and this was just perfect. I highly recommend spotless for a self or full service wash for your pup! I was worried about having my 13 year old cranky and orthopedic dog groomed, but felt it was too much to do myself. Not to mention getting myself soaking wet, along with the room and a bunch of towels. After talking to the owner, I felt comfortable she would help and guide me, and that the place was set up to safely and efficiently care for my dog. BIG SURPRISE: I actually had a great time brushing, bathing and blow drying my dog. He looks fabulous, smells gorgeous, and seems to feel really good too. I can't wait for his next bath time. As good as it gets! Debora, the owner, is fabulous! On top of running a class act, clean, friendly, top-notch self serve dog wash (and now grooming salon) with all the bells and whistles, she is an expert in dog behavior and goes above and beyond by answering my puppy behavior questions when we visit. She advises me on training so I'm more equipt to train my pup! She's encouraging and positive - just how I want to be with my puppy. AND to top it all off Debora's self serve dogwash is filled with much needed dog supplies. She recommended and gave me a sample of excellent dog food for my sensitive-stomached pooch - (Flint River Ranch...also a 5 star dog food company, in my opinion). She recommended an all natural serum for his anxiety issues, which I was skeptical about but works wonderfully and has been the much needed impetus to the positive change I've been needing to help his separation anxiety. If you own a dog, you MUST go to Spotless Dog Wash and meet Debora and frequent her store. After a day of romping around the dog park, my precious poodle was so dirty and muddy. He was in dire need of a good bath. I thought about washing him at home, but I am just not as properly equipped as Spotless Dog Wash so I decided to give them a try. Wow, what an easy experience - they have EVERYTHING you need and the place is immaculate. I really enjoyed giving my dog a bath here - awesome shampoo, easy to use dryer, ear wipes, brushes, lots and lots of fresh towels, leave in conditioner, and the list goes on. Excellent experience. Walked in Tuesday morning. Were able to take our time with a recently adopted 11-year-old, 50 lb. shepherd mix, who tends to get very anxious. I thought about using my kitchen sink, but then remembered I'd seen a "self-service' dog wash in Evanston the week before, as I was driving down Ridge Road. I was a bit anxious about using a self service, but when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised at how WONDERFUL this place is!!!! I may not go back to my regular groomer! Spotless Dog Wash has thought of EVERYTHING! First of all, it is CLEAN. Secondly, they have numerous individual bathtub areas, each with ramps into them if needed. They have the water regulated, temperature-wise, so there's no guessing. They provide you with tear-free shampoo, scrubbers, a bibbed plastic apron, and as many absorbent towels as you need! Then, they have a separate section for blow-drying your dog, complete with 'ties' to keep your dog still, and varied temperature, user friendly dryers. They provide various combs, brushes, ear wipes, AND teeth wipes. The owner is extremely helpful, non-intimidating and seems to love her store! They also carry the line of shampoos, etc., that are made locally (Chicago area). The do-it-yourself baths are only $20. You dont even have to clean up, which to me, is the best part!
