Came here with my daughter and husband. I got the baby chicken shawarma platter with grilled vegetables and spicy fries. The shawarma was delicious!! The fries were a little under done for my liking but that's just personal preference, next time will request them well done--regardless, the fries were seasoned well. They bring out pickles and salads to the table which were also delicious. The tahini hummus was delicious as well and the pita it came with was fluffy and fresh. First time I went here, it was near the height of the pandemic (when you had to cross the LI border just to get outdoor dining). Food was good, as was the service. Almost a year later, things seem to have taken a turn. My Schnitzel Burger and fries were fine, but my girlfriend's chicken was dry. I also don't remember them charging a credit card fee (I get why restaurants do this, but it's still irritating and counter-productive in the longterm.) The most galling thing though was that this restaurant helped THEMSELVES to a 15% gratuity! In all my years, I've never seen a business charge an automatic tip. I think I would've been well within my right to complain, but I didn't want to make a scene or appear cheap. Nice interior which looked like it was done recently, probably 12-15 small tables with a nice relaxed atmosphere. I came here for a quick takeout meal but I definitely plan on coming back for a sit down lunch sometime. Baby Chicken Laffa- 5/5, this was delicious. Amazing flavor, great portion and ratio. A bit on the pricier end but we'll worth it in my opinion. I opted for no French fries but next time I'll try it with. The "Grill Time" experience was underwhelming and overall disappointing. I've never been to "Grill Time" before, but have frequented plenty of restaurants within the same 'genre', if you will. Service is outright unprofessional with not a care for the customer at all. Perhaps, this is due to the owner (or manager) hiring teenagers with little to no experience, or hiring anyone who applies for the position. Not only were the staff by the front desk unhelpful, but they appeared agitated with basic requests and were unwilling to accommodate the customer (just like the workers in the back!). There was a credit card penalty which was nowhere to be found unless you already paid (you can see on the receipt). Upon asking about this, the waitress said, "there's usually a sign, but it's not here right now'. We ordered a Kufta Kebab Laffa and Shwarma Laffa. The wait time was average. But when the dish arrived, I noticed It packed with soggy fries after requesting no fries with the laffa. We were not able to choose which items we wanted inside the laffa besides for accepting the automatic choices of: hummus, tahini, Israeli salad, and (soggy) french fries. The unprofessional waitress let us know that they could add pickles as well, so we opted for that option. Both laffas were not cut so they were sent back to the workers in the back to cut them (with attitude). After receiving the laffa with fries, I let them know that I didn't want the (soggy) fries, especially since they said they would fill up the laffa by same amount. Once the 'new' laffa was brought back, it looked near empty with no hummus and an extremely liquid tahini variant. Quality of the Kufta Kebab was slightly below average, but the quality of the laffa sandwich was supremely below average. The laffa bread was not toasted (it tasted cold/frozen), the Israeli salad (cucumber/tomato) was VILE (hard to tell how long ago it was made, but tasted more like lemon than anything else), there was NO hummus, and the tahini was thin as water. Pickles were not placed inside the sandwich but were given to us in tahini cups instead! Pickles were good quality, surprisingly. I let the workers know that there was no hummus, but they insisted there was, and that I would certainly see it the more I eat. The hummus was NOWHERE to be found. In hindsight, I should have asked for "more". The ambiance was average with the music being too loud. The tables did have a table cloth and there was a nice table outside. Would never come back here. My aunt (kosher) asked me (not kosher) to join her for dinner at Grill Time. I generally don't like kosher restaurants because I find the food overpriced for the quality and the service lacking. Unfortunately, while the food at Grill Time was not comparatively overpriced (everywhere seems expensive these days) the food quality was below average and the service disappointing despite my low expectations. I ordered a platter containing a combination of chicken kebab and "Roumanian Steak". The sides were french fries and green beans. The chicken was overcooked and flavorless. The Roumanian steak was neither Roumanian nor a steak. Instead of the traditional skirt steak cut I got a thin slice of top round. It looked like a small piece of carne asada one gets at a Colombian or Mexican restaurant. I felt defrauded. The green beans were good and the only redeeming part of the meal. The french fries were...meh. Finally, the service. Admittedly, it was a very busy night with the street closed to vehicular traffic and tables set up outside in the roadway. This may account for the feeling of abandonment we felt after we got our food and waited for our check to be processed. I'm not sure why kosher restaurants seem to consistently provide poor service. My wife and I took my daughter out for her birthday. My daughter is kosher and choose to go to Grill Time. I have to start by saying I am not a big kosher food fan. I had the grilled marinated chicken breast which came with french fries and grilled vegetables. We received fast friendly service and the food was ok not great. I always find kosher food in general to be much more expensive. Grill time was no exception i found it on the expensive side. I want to start this review by saying that the food at this restaurant is excellent. Im giving it 2 stars because every time i go here there is always an issue. Over the summer i ate there outdoors. they forgot about us for 35 minutes and never brought us water. I usually would refrain from writing a bad review but today we decided to order take out. we called in the order an hour before we arrived. When we got there we were told nicely that they had run out of shawarma and more was being prepared. When the food finally came out they had forgotten to make one of our sandwiches. so we had to wait even longer. and were told that the sandwich wasnt payed for. They put the falfael on top of the Israeli salad which made the falafel soggy instead of crispy and salad was warm and you could tell it wasn't exactly fresh . People left and more came in...most likely because food is clean and tasty and the service is fast and friendly. If they're crowded on a Wednesday, it explains the expansion planned to happen in the future. The nuggets were deep fried strips of white meat chicken, in some sort of mild, teriyaki, sweet sauce. They were delicious!!! The fries....hand cut fries with a lil seasoning. Not bad. We had the chicken shawarma and fries and the chicken kabobs and yellow rice and Israeli salad. All was good. The yellow rice needed some sort of seasoning...because it tasted like white rice with yellow coloring but it wasn't bad. The salad added the kick that was needed. Anyway....this place is in a cute location in Great Neck and if you enjoy kosher food or clean tasting food, this is your place. Did I mention the service was friendly? Not sure if this guy was the owner or not, but he was greeting, seating, serving, cashing out, checking in and conversing with the everyone, which is very, very, very nice in a customer service industry. read more

This restaurant is amazing because the food is amazing, its affordable, trustworthy and never a problem with the food. The staff there are nice and have amazing customer service. I just ordered the Chicken breasts. It was amazing like always. Even during Covid 19 they are making it so easy to order food and which makes it even better is that they drop the food off to the car doesn't that sound awesome well it is. Decent food but unreasonable manager/staff. Restaurant was empty during peak dinner hour when I visited. I asked them for a "schwafel" (half schwarma half falafel) sandwich and was told they could not make that for me instead of being accomodating. I was forced to order things separately, which by the way ended up costing them money in the long run because I ended up sharing these dishes with my friend instead of both of us ordering entrees. I then asked to sub out the fries that come with the sandwich for spicy fries. Spicy fries are the same price on the menu. They wouldnt accomodate this either, and when we said we were going to leave the waitress finally got the manager. The manager initially stood by this policy and explained "the options are salad or fries. Salad if you want to be healthy." Lol After convincing him, he ended up "making an exception, but just this once." We even offered to pay a surcharge for the damn fries. Needless to say, by the time the food came after this debockle, our experience had already been soured and we felt uncomfortable. Baby chicken shawarma tasted NOTHING like shawarma...it was dry curry chicken, so just call it curry chicken. The beef kufta was decent but certainly not special. I'm reluctant to write the review without having tried their falafel, but I'm certain I won't be going back. Murray's Falafel (in Stuyvesant Town/Gramercy), King of Falafel & Shawarma (in Astoria) or Ilili's (Flatiron district) are all light-years better and still has in my opinion the best shawarma. I'm pretty sure this place used to be Shishkabob Palace. Now it's Grill Time. I'm a fan of Kosher/Middle Eastern fare and Grill Time was pretty good. Got the Shawarma Lafa, which was really filling and quite tasty. The prices are slightly inflated, but acceptable considering the amount of food we got. The cons: our take-out took quite a while and I had awful heartburn the rest of the day. All in all, a good experience. We'll be back. read more

Came here one night when it was just too hot to cook. The staff was friendly, and the waiter was knowledgeable, which isn't typical in most kosher places sadly enough. It's a very relaxed place, and so is the service, which we didn't mind considering it was so freaking hot outside. I got the shawarma platter and my husband got the burger.
