I love to eat here and somehow I always have to pee when I'm there too. Their bathrooms are gender segregated and multi-occupancy, and very clean! They are easy to find based on the layout of the restaurant even though there aren't really signs. There's really nothing special about them, but sometimes that's the beauty of a bathroom-- it's just a bathroom. read more

As far as diners go, this is one of the best in chicago. Ownership manages this store extremely well. Over the last 3 years or so, I've had consistently quality meals here with friendly and attentive service. Reminiscent of an East coast diner, this is one of my go-tos. Almost nothing was open at 6:30 in the morning, and I had almost resigned myself to eating breakfast at Starbucks when I stumbled on this delightful diner. The breakfast burrito I had was also delicious, if a little spicier than I'm used to; not a problem, but maybe not the best choice before an all-day meeting. I was excited when the diner opened up in that location. There isn't anything like it in close proximity open that late. I've always had great food from there with no complaints. The ingredients are quality and the service is always on point. I recently had a crazy incident go down there where the manager Hector went above and beyond to help me. Stopped here on St. Paddy's Day to grab a drink while waiting for my hubs to get out of a meeting. We only got drinks here. However, I ordered a Bloody Mary & coffee, as did one of my drinking partners. Another attempted to order an "Irish coffee" and there seemed to be some miscommunication. We were able to get a coffee & shot of Jameson. All of our drinks were good- all pretty standard but good. Service at our booth was great even though we just got drinks, our coffee or water was never empty, which is always a plus. It's easy to forget or not be concerned about a table who camps out & just gets drinks, so I appreciate their effort! read more

Very glad that we have another greasy spoon breakfast option near our place. We've been here twice now, and have been pretty satisfied. First, I love that they serve alcohol... Nothing like a mimosa or Bloody Mary with your brunch! I recently had their BBQ chicken tortilla salad and it was delicious. Everything was fresh and the portion was huge ! My boyfriend had a skillet and his only complaint was that the hash browns weren't crispy. The prices are good, the place is clean and the servers are quick. I have been here a handful of times now and only have great things to say about the staff, food and atmosphere. All of the staff are beyond nice, attentive and super pleasant. My water glass is never empty which is huge in my book! The menu offers a wide variety of options for all times of the day. Breakfast is spot on and they are willing to make boiled eggs!!! The homemade soups are over the top delishious! Salads are so fresh and pancakes are nice and fluffy. I don't think you can go wrong with any item on the menu. It's making me want more just writing about it :) This wonderful place is exactly what River North has been missing! When you move into a new neighborhood, and have a 24-hour diner right around the corner from your house, you get VERY EXCITED. And when that diner is as incredible as Griddle 24? You may never leave. I've been here 10 times already since moving to River North a month and a half ago, and I couldn't be happier it exists. The menu and portions are MASSIVE, the staff is always smiling and clearly enjoying their time together, and the food as a whole is fantastic. I recommend the Countryside Skillet (add jalapeños!) with coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice. You'll receive everything you're hoping to get out of this type of a restaurant. Not a fan. You can tell most of their food is prepackaged. I've tried them twice, and even though it's a diner, the quality shouldn't be that bad. The food is just bland. Called ahead for a reservation for 9 on a weekend morning at 9:30am and was told not to worry. Was skeptical but figured they know best. Very pleasantly surprised when we were seated without a wait. As someone who loves breakfast I've tried dozens of places in my Chicago neighborhood and this fairly new spot is excellent! Probably the best waffles around and the staff does a wonderful job. They will customize any egg dish you're thinking of unlike some other bkfst places I've visited. No waiting for a table on the weekends but that may not last for long as people discover this gem. The 'Griddle' 24hr Diner opened only a few days ago and since I go to school nearby I decided to check it out. The portion sizes were very generous and prices are as you would expect in a breakfast place. The servers are very attentive and did a wonderful job. The business is still trying to get the kinks out of barely opening but all and all things were smooth and nothing was obviously bad in any way. I had high hopes for this place personally so I could have a decent breakfast place to stop by in the mornings before school and I was not disappointed. Came here for breakfast before work. The staff were friendly at the door and being seated was no problem. The place was not too crowded. I was a little short on time and I did have to wait about 10 minutes before anyone came to my table to ask if I wanted something to drink or place my order right away which I did. Having to wait is really my biggest complaint because again I was short on time yet couldn't communicate this until someone finally came over. The menu is robust with a lot of options which I liked. I ended up getting the country skillet which the server recommended and it was good. I would of like to have tried the corn-beef and hash but the server had no feedback on if it was good or a popular choice. My food also came out quick which was another plus for me! What was really nice was that management wrote a "thank you for dining with us message" on the to-go box which I thought was a nice touch. Overall the food I ordered was good (most important) and the staff were friendly. The wait staff I think just need more time to get a custom to the menu so they can make more recommendations to new customers. There is always a huge portion with any order, which is really nice. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. They are also very helpful whenever I ask something with regard to the food or any concerns I may have had inside the restaurant. It is just that sometimes the restaurant is so busy to the point that the food takes a really long time before it is served. It is always easy to find a seat here, but sometimes waiting for the food is my problem because it really takes longer, especially if I order quite a lot when I am with someone. Came here out of curiosity. It's like your local IHOP but better. They have a wide array of foods and a bar! Bloody Mary's and mimosas for brunch. Weird to think you can order it at a diner, but whatever. I had their el chapo scrambled. A little bit too greasy for me but there was a great chorizo to egg ratio. I did ask for egg whites and I didn't get them, not a big deal. They did however forget the avocado and I had to let the server know. She did bring me half an avocado later. The gentleman got their Rocky Mountain high (Denver omelet) and they brought out a different omelet ( think it was the California omelet). When we let our sever know she was apologetic and brought out the correct omelet. I don't want to be "those people" who complain about their order not being correct and sending food back. But when I'm not making outrageous demands, it's hard to look past the fact they couldn't produce the basics on the first try. Griddle 24 has never disappointed. I have been here multiple times from 4am to 11 am to 5pm. Every time of the day service is great and their food is even better. I love this family owned 24 hour diner. The servers are always so attentive and flexible with food orders. This place is also very reasonable and your are able to do half orders of griddle items. I like this place alot. The River North area is a breakfast desert for the most part. Having a breakfast spot, not to mention 24 hours, is a godsend in this area. The Chapo scrambler was delish (the chorizo they use may be too spicy for avg eaters-but i loved it) Coffee is mehh...& the service was a bit slow- but minor hiccups that didnt really make a giant difference. Get some better coffee, and this place will definitely be a five star for sure read more
