I called ahead and ordered for pickup on my way home the other night. I ordered a turkey burger and fries. The food was ready when I arrived and the man was very nice on the phone. The turkey burger was OK, not great and the fries were just OK too. I will say, the interior looked very "classic diner" and I would defiantly return and eat inside sometimes. This place is absolutely horrendous. I came here at 11 p.m. with 6 other friends on a Friday night. The security was extremely rude, as well as the ENTIRE staff. Our server was incredibly rude, and every staff member continuously walked back and forth watching our table. Good place for an extremely late night/extremely early morning meal. The food is pretty tasty -- I always come here with a big group of friends and try a little bit of what they get and there's never anything I don't like. I recommend any one of the omelettes with pancakes. The quality of the food isn't out of this world, but it's pretty satisfying when you're hungry late at night. The service is a little inconsistent. I came here one night and there weren't many others in the diner, but service was extremely slow. Another night, the diner was pretty full (and I was with a larger party) and we got our food relatively quickly. Not sure what's going on there. TL;DR: Decent diner but nothing special. read more

I had quite an interesting experience tonight. I have passed this restaurant for such a long time and had always wanted to stop. I invited a friend to join me. I was enjoying a cup of coffee before she arrived. Before she sat down, she asked me what was on my coffee cup. I looked and there was a hug smear of pink lipstick. I had been served coffee in a dirty coffee cup. I brought it to the waitress's attention and she apologized profusely. Since we're in the middle of a pandemic, I was quite disturbed and I asked that my meal be free of charge. I spoke to the manager and expressed my concern. He flat out refused to comp me for dinner. He only offered another cup of coffee free of charge. I'm desperately trying to understand what happened to good customer service and customer retention. This is very upsetting and disappointing. I'm in the area frequently and have eaten here a number of times. The breakfast items all seem to be great. The lunch and other items are, shall we say, what you'd expect from a 24 hour diner ! I make my way here from the south loop passing another 24 hour diner with similar offerings, there are some noted differences. Griddle 24 has a larger menu, alcohol and the food is several notches higher. While in Chicago, I work primary from home and due to travel constraints I don't bother with groceries. Worst of it, I think about food at 2 in the morning. At that time of day nothing beats breakfast, specifically eggs and meat or all the better, meats. I know doing this on a regular isn't recommended, at least I'm not drinking a beer with it. Breakfast is stellar here, over easy and not over done, bacon and sausage, copious amount of black coffee. It was a semi-warm day and my boyfriend and I were walking all around the city and came across this place. I am a sucker for diners. I love the entire vibe of it, and this diner didn't fall short. The decor is pretty cozy and I love how they have a fridge with delicious pies displayed. It is open 24/7, and I feel like that's a good thing since there's a nightclub (Bounce) literally right next door. That's pretty smart on their end. The menu has plenty of options to choose from, You can get anything from breakfast omelets, breakfast skillets, lunch sandwiches, wraps, appetizers, to dinner plates. It took us about 10 minutes just to go through the entire menu. I even noticed they sell alcoholic drinks, so this is one thing to keep in mind if you want to come here for brunch or keep the party going on weekends. There's also boozy ice cream shakes if you're into that. Everything on the menu looked appetizing, but we eventually settled for the Chicken Chipotle Wrap and the Big Baller, which is basically a huge meatball sandwich. Both options come with complimentary soup and a side. I love how the sweet potato fries is a free side option and is not an additional cost, so we both opted for that. The soup options were creamy chicken and rice, and lentil. I really wanted to try the lentil, but I was disappointed that they put ham in it. I can't eat pork and I've never heard of a lentil soup, which is mainly a vegan/vegetarian option, have ham or any source of pork in it. The food came quick and the portions were huge. You get a huge pickle too with any sandwich, so that's a plus. Everything tasted really good, even the soup. The soup was so creamy and delicious. I thought the chicken was going to have an aftertaste like every other chicken soup I've had in the United States so far, but this one didn't at all, so this soup is a definite must try! The service was okay, we had two waiters switch on us, so we had no idea who our waiter/waitress was, so we just flagged down whoever passed by when we needed something.
