We had a terrible experience with the purchase and installation of flooring from Greenhome Solutions. We were looking into cork flooring but had concerns about visible gaps between tiles. The person we talked to at the store recommended unfinished, glue down tiles because he said that once they are sanded and finished in place they would have a seamless appearance. Unfortunately, that was not the case and the floors had large gaps immediately after install. When we told GHS about the issue they told us that cork is a natural product so there are some inconsistencies in the tile sizes and shapes and there isn't much that can be done. The installer came out and filled some of the larger gaps with filler but it didn't last and the gaps were back within a few weeks. We've lived with it for almost three years but are now looking to replace it. This was a huge waste of time and money. read more

The product is fine but the customer service was terrible. The first day we needed help and the person could care less about offering solutions or ideas and we felt like he didn't want to be engaged with us. I had to call him over twice. The next day, I came back to place the order and I had a spreadsheet with amounts and details. The person didn't really look at the spreadsheet and didn't offer any help when I asked "is this enough?". Then the invoice was printed out and I was then asked to see if it was correct. It didn't match the spreadsheet so I said "I don't know what I'm looking at it here". She just didn't want to put any extra effort into helping or making sure the order was correct so I left frustrated. Of course when I got back home and did the math, the invoice was incorrect and yet my spreadsheet was correct. If she had bothered to even look at my spreadsheet she would have seen the discrepency before I left. They just seem like they don't care about the customer and they are just sitting behind the desk to run the orders through. Also on the web it says they recycle but when I asked about this, they said they didn't. I wouldn't go back but the order is done now. read more

Two years ago, when I bought my condo, I had Greenhome Solutions install wood flooring in my entire condo, and their work is perfection. Two years later I had water damage that required the flooring in the kitchen and entry to be removed. Greenhome Solutions installed the flooring again, and you would never know that there was any damage at all. They are great to work with, and they are customer oriented. read more

Extremely disappointed in the installation and customer service. There are large gaps where the flooring is missing. The floor is separating in various places. And they cut the carpet too narrow on the stairs. They left gaps by the fireplaces and by the doors. Was told I should put quarter rounds there. (That won't work. It would be too tall). They eventually came out once to fix things after I called and emailed multiple times, and kept being told to be patient (I contacted them about once a month). When they came out, they said they were going to come back to finish fixing a few of the things. Every time I called, I was told to be patient and that I'd be called back. I never was. After insisting I speak to a manager, I was told they would not come back because they had already been out once and now it had been so long (a little over a year since install). read more

We ordered through Greenhome, consulting with Tess, who's very knowledgeable, then Peter and his helper installed an EcoFusion 3-ply Wheat engineered bamboo floor, over concrete. I used the installation instructions to ensure that we ordered the correct underlayment. There is also plastic sheeting between the underlayment and the concrete, as recommended. It had a trial by water, due to plumbing issues, as well. I'm not saying you can drown it, but it did hold up. It's a beautiful floor and we've received many compliments. However, when we found out that the floor would not work well on our uneven stairs, Cameron graciously worked with EcoFusion to facilitate the return of the excess. We look forward to finding the right wool carpet at GHS for the landing and stairs! read more

My husband and I are extremely happy with our entire experience with Greenhome Solutions. We met with Ean at the showroom who talked us through some cork flooring options. He helped set up a time for the installers to come out and measure our space which happened in a timely manner. Our materials were delivered on time and our installed was scheduled soon after. The installers arrived on time and did a great job from start to finish. The biggest change for us is that our old floor was uneven and slopped - we now have an even and smooth floor. It has completely changed the space. Everyone was great at communicating scheduling, the install process, and all of our questions along the way were answered. After a 16-year run with our kitchen's worn-out cork plank flooring, we shopped around and chose to have Greenhome replace it with marmoleum click planks. We had a very good experience working with GHS to replace our kitchen floor with new Marmoleum. In the showroom, Camille was extremely helpful in getting us samples, pricing and availability information as well as connecting us with their install team. Ours was a little tricky (to us) since it is an existing kitchen with an island and the selection we wanted only came in a sheet. However, the install team, led by Rich, was experienced and had a strong attention to detail. Over two days they prepped and installed our new floor, including removing a base shoe and neatly reinstalling it. The joints are invisible and the new floor is beautiful. We love it! read more

Our church has now relied on Greenhome Solutions for Marmoleum on three occasion as we renovate rooms on a rolling basis. Their website's calculation of our needs has been accurate, the pricing better than anyone else and the customer service outstanding. The first time out, we had lots of basic questions to which we got straight-forward answers. Most recently, the shipping confirmation confused us. The individual who answered the phone could not identify our order immediately and asked me to hold on. Within a minute, Erin was on the line with our three-year order history infront of her. She tracked our most recent order and sent me a screenshot of what she found, volunteered that our special instructions about delivery from the prior orders had been captured and sent to the trucker already. We're building a new house and want to use green materials insofar as possible. Everywhere we looked, green was pretty expensive and the stores were either too boutique-y or didn't have much on display. GreenHome Solutions was a great find. They have an incredible range of stuff, their prices were better than the less-green materials we were sourcing elsewhere, and - well, they're a local, family-owned business where you're dealing with the principals directly. We think that buying locally - really locally - is one of the greenest things you can do. The long and the short of it is that we're now using them as our primary vendor for the majority of our building materials. read more

Greenhome Solutions is one of my favorite shops! My wife and I just finished a major kitchen remodel, and Cameron and his team were great to work with. We ordered some Eco-Top to use as our counter tops. GHS helped us with consultation (both on the counters and on the general design), placed our order for us, and kept us apprised of the status of delivery. The product came in, we picked it up, and then got hope and found out we had a defective piece. Cameron, without waiting to hear back from the manufacturer, took our defective piece back and swapped it out for a good one. And then... When we had issues with fabrication and installation (this kitchen was completed 95% on our own), I called Cameron. I was at my wits end. Cameron listened to my concerns and frustrations and got me in contact with the installer GHS uses for this type of counter tops. What a relief! Within no time, our countertops were installed! Because of their design talent, customer service, and pricing, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for environmentally responsible building materials, design and installation tips, or just a great conversation! Granted, Eco materials aren't cheap, but GHS definitely provides great value. Highly recommend. read more

This company is incredible. I went in for cork flooring, and I initially worked with Tess, who was quite knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. She and Cameron both were very responsive and communicative throughout the process, which is something I highly value in a company. What really sold me - During installation, the installer noticed some problems with the way the flooring was coming together. The jury's still out as to whether it's due to product, installation, or environmental factors, and it hasn't yet been resolved. After I paid for the material, Greenhome could have washed their hands of me, but Cameron made the effort to reach out to me to address the issue. (Side note - when Cameron, the installer, and a rep for the product manufacturer came out to look at the issue, the product rep was... well, imagine if Lionel Hutz was a hospital attorney instead of an ambulance chaser, and then throw in some used car salesman. "Remember, the hospital is not at fault here, but what can I do to talk you into a botched knee surgery today?" Life's funny moments...) Cameron was much more diagnosis/solution-focused instead of fault/blame-focused. I find that the former of the two is far more useful, and it was reassuring to know that Greenhome protects the interests and satisfaction of their customers. I would buy from them again, solely based on the way they run their business and serve their customers. And, despite the issue that came up, the floors are beautiful. read more

Superb. They had a great curated selection of woods at 3 different price points. This avoided the whole paradox of choice phenomena that stops you from buying. Paeter is an expert and guided me on how to evaluate different installation vendors. The only reason I didn't have Greenhome Solutions install the flooring I bought from them was that I needed my floors done in 1-2 months. And they were booking 5-6 months out. That he spent so much time with me and I was only buying flooring and not installation is a great testament to their approach to customer service. The Tesora Northern Wood plank floors I bought from them I love. Finally, it's refreshing to have a supplier of home remodeling materials deliver exactly when they say they're going to deliver. I recently purchased cork flooring at Greenhome Solutions. It was their GHS cork plank in Sienna. I couldn't be happier with the product. It was reasonably priced, it looks fantastic, and it is so much more comfortable than hardwood floors. If you're thinking about installing hardwoods, definitely look at their cork plank products before you commit. Cameron was really helpful when we were in the early stages of shopping. Setting up a time for estimate was easy and they showed up as scheduled and I received a bid quickly for cork floor installation in a master bedroom. We had a great experience with GHS. They talked with us for a while about their natural wool carpets, and let us take home samples. Then they sent us more samples. Once we decided on a carpet, it took a few extra days for the installers to touch base with us, but they finally did, and then they called back on a Thurs or Friday and asked "can we come Monday?" I said sure! The installers came and did an amazing job of moving all the furniture around to install the carpets. In and out in one (long hardworking) day. When I showed them a quote from a competitor, they beat the other guys even though the other guys didn't include shipping. Just had a new kitchen/family room floor installed with Greenhome Solutions. We had 14 year old cork that was worn, pitted and faded, time to replace it. The Greenhome showroom is in north Seattle and the staff there are helpful, professional and knowledgeable. They have a wide variety of wood products, cork, etc. for flooring or walls or whatever you need. I brought some photos of our space. They gave us samples to take home and compare, so after two visits we made our decision on an engineered wood product. One of their staff came and measured the space, then ordered the wood. It took about a month to get it and was quickly followed by their installer, nyflooring. The installer, Nick, was great: professional, a very fast worker, whipped out all the old cork in just a couple hours, then carefully leveled out the subfloor and installed about half the space on the first day. He returned with a helper on day 2 and we had a beautiful seamless wood floor by that afternoon. Nick was a perfectionist and managed all the complex trim around our space, with appliances and radiators, stove, etc. An all-round excellent experience. read more

Terrible customer service. We were told that installation was included with our custom cabinets, but when the time came to install them, they refused to do so, claiming that because it was a small job, "the deal was that our guys would install it free of charge if they had time and if it was an easy install". Of course, turns out they didn't have the time, so we had to pay our own contractor to install it. Cara refused to admit any responsibility and strangely did not even offer to try to slot in our installation at a future time (apparently their guys were completely booked for eternity?). The cabinets themselves were fine but not anything special. read more

Can I give less than one star? I agree with the poster below who commented on their customer service and their refusal to honor agreements. Green Home's website listed recycled wood for $5/board. Not linear foot, or board foot, but board. I called the store, and an employee confirmed the pricing. When I went to the store two days later to purchase some, a different employee said the price was $5/foot. I drove an hour out of my way based on the advertised price. I asked to speak to the manager, and explained the website ad and my phone conversation with his employee the day before. The manager - actually, owner, Cameron - asked me to step outside because he had customers in the store, and then called me "ridiculous", multiple times. Hopefully my experience is the exception to the rule at this store. read more

I wanted to order a product online, so called customer service to inquire about the product, and ask specifically how long it would take to arrive. I was told it would arrive to my house in 3-4 days. Great, that's what I needed! I already had the online order filled out and ready to go, so hung up the phone and clicked the send button, and received an order confirmation immediately thereafter. More than 5 days later I still had not received my product, nor had I received a message letting me know it had been shipped. I sent an email to the company and received a response telling me they do not carry that particular product in stock, and it was being shipped directly from the manufacturer. I was told my order would not arrive to my house for still yet another week. This put me in a real bind, as I had workers onsite waiting on the order. Needless to say, I responded back letting them know how frustrated and dissatisfied I was. Here is why a frustrated customer is giving Greenhome Solutions 4 stars... The customer service rep who responded to my first email, Andrew, upon receiving my angry response, picked up the phone and called me. I was busy and didn't answer the phone, but he left a message and asked me to please call him. The next morning he followed up and called me again. This time I was able to answer. Andrew was very friendly and professional. He explained what had happened, apologized profusely, and said he would like to at least refund my shipping costs (almost $60) as a gesture of their apology. I still would not have ordered this product from Greenhome had I known it was going to take so long to arrive. However, I was impressed that the customer service rep actually picked up the phone and called me, instead of responding back via email, then followed up again the next day. I would have rather had the product than the refund of the $60 shipping fee, but I was impressed with the genuine apology and the generous attempt to try to make a bad situation a little better. I was set to give the company only a one or two star rating, but the way the CS rep handled my frustrating situation made me feel they were genuinely sorry, and were willing to do anything they could to try to make it better. You learn a lot about how much a company values you as a customer when something is wrong. I was impressed and would definitely give them another try. read more

We bought a house in May which needed a full kitchen remodel. After taking the entire kitchen down to studs and sub-floor, it was time to start thinking about design and cabinets. Our representative for this project was Cara Davis, an in-house design consultant with Greenhome. Before getting into the details, let me just say that Cara was a top-notch member of our remodel team and an integral part of the success of our project. She is knowledgeable, responsive, energetic and an absolute pleasure to work with. She provided modeling through CAD software that allowed us to get a really good sense of final design. We ordered all plywood cabinets through Canyon Creek. I will readily admit that I can be a Type-A, detail oriented jerk, but when spending almost 13k on kitchen cabinets, I have high expectations. When the cabinets arrived, we had some issues with construction and quality, but Cara acted on our behalf and made sure all of our concerns were addressed. She got one cabinet replaced because there was a gap in one of the joints, and replaced another piece because the paint wasn't applied as consistently as I would have liked. All of this was done at no charge to me. She checked in at regular intervals and made sure we had everything we needed to complete our project. When our appliances arrived, they fit the cabinetry perfectly. The oven slid into place within a 32nd of an inch. Our counter tops are so level round objects refuse to roll on them. My experience with Greenhome is limited entirely to my interaction with Cara, but I will unequivocally recommend her for anyone looking to remodel, update, or enhance their kitchen. Projects are only as good as the team that works on them, and Cara is top-flight and certainly someone you want on your team.
