Rude and awful costumer service by the "manager." I don't expect 5 star service or a bubbly personality but this was so bad I felt compelled to write a review. I called to order some decorative crushed gravel and was dealing with the manager (he said he was manager but who knows) who answered the phone. The employee I spoke with a few days before had told me that based on my location the driver would come to my home later in the afternoon. I asked the manager about this and he said no that's not right and I'd be informed an hour before they come. I asked if I could call the morning of delivery to get an estimated time as I need to arrange my work schedule. No he said, that's not how we do it. I made a comment stating my surprise that he did not even want to work the timing issue out. Most companies will at least give a 4-5 hour window. I imagine the delivery driver would map out his route prior to leaving that makes sense with location of deliveries. The manager said I was just mad he wasn't doing what I wanted. He asked if I wanting to cancel the order, he really didn't seem to care. I did cancel as I did not feel good about giving my money to a "local business" that treats customers this way. He ended the call by hanging up. Wow! Business must be great at Pavingstone Supply that they can make NO effort. read more

I absolutely love coming to this local business for the hardscaping projects we have for our home. I have purchased pavers, gravel, and everything else in between to redo our sidewalks and driveway. They have a great selection of materials and products. The best part of coming here is the help my husband and I have received from them. We've gotten a lot of great advice and ideas from Alexis. We couldn't have done it without her. She also sent out a delivery of materials way sooner than expected so we didn't miss a weekend to work on our project. We have purchased products from this company over the years. We also go to their bar and restraunt in Ballard called Pono Ranch. We bought two large paver/caps today to finish our project. Because it was a small order, we we're charged an extra $5 for a small order loading fee. We were not told of the extra charge and noticed it on the receipt when we got home. Crappy! We will not go to either business ever again. Mutual materials in Bellevue has the same items and is way less expensive! Lesson learned. read more

I like to support local businesses, so this is our 2nd large order with them. However, it'll be the last project with them and I definitely wouldn't recommend them. I ordered a 1000 lb of Gold Rush Patio Stone and a yard of minus crushed rock. I also paid $100+ for delivery, and $25 for a gravel bin delivery fee. I only live a mile away, but I thought it was fine to support a local business and was paying for premium service. There were two problems with my order: 1) The patio stones came in large slabs instead of patio size stones. The exact same stones came in reasonable 16-20" pieces for my last project. These were large 4' by 4' slabs. When I emailed them my concern, they said "The patio stone can be broken if the pieces are too large. Using a hammer, with or without a chisel is a precise method." So we bought a 3lb hammer and concrete chisel, and spent many hours breaking it up. 2) The gravel was dumped on our grass. We paid for a delivery gravel bin fee. So I naively assumed the gravel would be delivered in bins or at least one a plastic sheet. Instead, the ruined a corner of our lawn. It was a time consuming mess trying to shovel it all to our project. They responded with "The gravel bin fee is because the bins take up extra space and weight on our truck, which reduces how many deliveries can be made on a trip." I guess I should've been grateful I didn't have to pay an additional truck fee or driver fee on our $100+. Long story short, save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

We definitely wanted to support a local company with great merchandise but to our dismay, we had a very unprofessional experience for a number of reasons. A couple months ago, we decided to purchase pavers for a big home project since my spouse is a contractor and had used them previously for other personal projects. When we were ready to move to phase two of our project, we paid for a product that was only half in stock but were told would be back in stock a couple days later. We were waiting for the other half to arrive but had to "CALL THEM" only to be told that it's a specific type of product that they don't really ever stock and then were told it would not arrive for another 6-8 weeks. This was very upsetting as we had already started with the half of the product we were waiting for. If we had known it would be weeks out until we would receive the rest of the product, we would have picked another product. We took it upon ourselves to find the product in Canada and decided to pick it up from another vendor so we'd be able to finish our product the week it was scheduled to be complete. With that being said, to make matters worse, we requested Pavingstone refund us on the personal credit card we had paid for the product in advance, we did not receive the credit for two weeks so we contacted them again. We decided to speak to a supervisor for the poor service, and were told they'd call us back when they would get into the office, only to have them never call us back. When we called back again, we asked what time the managers or supervisors would be in and the employee responded with "I don't know some times they come in at 1:00, 2:00 or 3:00pm." We should have known not to come back but obviously didn't learn our lesson the first time around when we decided to grab decorative rocks to finish our project this past weekend. We told an owner how we had to go all the way to Canada to finish the rest of our project and she proceeded to laugh and condescendingly asked us why we'd even buy that color of a product and said it was funny that had happened because another contractor was really upset at her for the exact same situation (low inventory and a long back order wait). It's obvious that the satisfaction of their customers are not at the top of their list and we're pretty sure if there are two customers who have had identical experiences, we're sure we're not the first. Due to this unfortunate experience, we're going to be bringing our business to Terrazzo & Stone Supply Company in Bellevue. read more

Back in April 12, 2021 Pavingstone supply was paid in full for our order of Autumn Mist stone slabs with a quoted delivery date of 3 - 4 weeks. It's now August 24, 2021 and the order is still not ready for our contractors. I can't count the number of times or excuses that we have been given for non-delivery. I believe one of the reasons for non-delivery is the price of stone has gone up about 25% and therefore they are probably shipping to other customers who are now paying more than we did. How many times can the stone "be on the dock" and still not shipped to Seattle. I recommend you run, not walk away from this business. read more

For a homeowner D-I-Y project, I went to the store prepared, with pictures and measurements for my flagstone pathway project. The owner looked at my spec and estimated how much product I would need. I ordered 2" thick stone, out of several thicknesses available in the yard. They delivered much much thicker stone. Why was that a problem? Because stone is sold by weight, that meant I had only half of the surface area I needed. The only way for me to have enough material to finish the project was to buy almost twice as much stone as was estimated. Because the mistake was theirs, I asked for a discount on the extra stone that I had to buy. Not only did the onwer refuse, but he was surprisingly kind of a jerk about it and implied that working with contractors was his top priority, not homeowners with small projects. read more

I went here to find out some options to put under my outdoor grill so it wouldn't sink into the ground. It was very easy to walk around and see all the options without getting bothered or "sold" a specific product. After selecting a few pieces (that they had I stock) they also gave me a perfect estimate on the amount of gravel I needed and how to install. I also rented a tamper from them which was convenient ($10 a day seemed a little high but if I bought one I would have no need for it after this). All in all a perfectly good experience, although some might get frustrated that the staff isn't rushing to be available to you or answer questions. read more

I'm not a professional contractor which means every time I do a new landscaping project, I have a ton of questions about what materials to use, how to do things, how much to order, etc. While I do my internet research ahead of time and have a general sense of what I want, inevitably, I need help! I've completed three major landscaping projects over the past few years at two different homes and each time I return to Pavingstone Supply for a few reasons: (1) the selection of materials is always exceptional, they ALWAYS have what I envision for my project on hand; (2) there is always someone there willing to answer my questions and help me figure things out; and (3) they deliver! Because they provide great service to people on the phone, in the yard, etc. sometimes I have to wait a bit to get the help I need - but trust me, it's worth the wait! Shop here at your own peril--staff are not wearing face masks. The gentleman in the office was maskless and three feet from the customer he was helping. When I commented he said he forgot after eating, but took a mask from his pocket and put it on. Okay, a pass, possible oversight. Then he brought what I bought to me--again maskless. No pass, this had to be intentional. The other staff person I saw, albeit on the forklift, was also maskless. Two stars, only for the convenient location. There are no words to describe the level of incompetence. We like to support local businesses. Unfortunately I can't wish more for this place to simply go out of business. I had to make multiple calls to process an order. I was repeatedly put on hold, told I would be called back and then wasn't. They wanted to charge us twice for their $100 delivery (we live within 1/4 mile) because they did not have the full order in stock. And in trying to make a simple, small additional order, I spent 30 minutes on basic math with the person who would have charged me double if I hadn't been following. We were midway through a big project, so we had to see it through with them but we will never again support this business. read more

We are in the middle of a back yard landscaping project and to save time I was asked by the contractor to pick out the pavers I wanted and purchase them. First, there wasn't anyone in the office. The guy who finally helped me told me the contractor had to purchase the pavers in person and then couldn't even find the contractor in their system. I called my contractor who has done business with them and after I went back then they said ," oh, he's in the system. Just hasn't been here since last November." I was still unable to complete my purchase. I finally had to have the contractor call in the order. They were so unhelpful in the hole process. Basically did not want to deal with me. Such a frustrating and disappointing experience. I got much better service at Lowes. I guess if you want to use their service just don't expect good service. read more

The first set of pavers we got here were a total bust, and the color was wrong. Bummer. But the owner Jon took care of us, and remedied the situation. The new bricks are just lovely and we are quite happy. You need to do your research when you come here to shop. Look around, go home, read up on your options, etc. The staff here will not really give you the true tales of what to expect, whether there are common complaints about products, etc. Just rely on them to sell you the merchandise- their specialty is not to educate you or figure out the right decision for your situation. You'll have to gain some knowledge of your own. read more

Kyong was the sales person who helped me choose the color of pavers, and then asked me for the pattern choice. I chose the double standard/standard pattern from their booklet which denotes two sizes of pavers; but as a rookie, it represented the name of the pattern I chose. I called to place my order for 500 sqft; and even though her English is fair, she asked if I wanted the same size. I thought she meant what the pattern called for, and said yes. Doesn't the size of pavers depend on the pattern chosen? My order was delivered, but all pavers were the same size. When I called to bring this to their attention, they blamed me for ordering the wrong size. Kyong was no help on the phone and only blamed me. I went to their office, and the owner (I assume) washed his hands of it and was no help. So much for customer service. I would suggest some other source for pavers, The staff was little help in solving my problem, and only blamed me the customer. Very bad business practice in the long run. read more

The Good: A huge selection of materials. Prices are very competitive. Free to roam the materials yard without salesman interruptions. The Bad: Customer service and job guidance is something the customer must ask for as the employees didn't offer help or inquire to my job. You gotta drive the questions and inquiries. Delivery was a problem, so if you're considering having them deliver your product, and you're on a timeline, be careful. They screwed up my delivery and on the "new delivery date" they changed the delivery time without telling me. Therefore I waited about three hours and then when I called them, they informed me that the time changed. Bottom line: good product, good price, Spotty delivery and customer service. read more

I recommend this vendor. Just go fully prepared and don't expect to have your hand held. They seem to be used to working with professional landscapers so review your patio books/magazines in advance. When you go have all your plans and calculations firmly in hand. There will be a line of people behind you waiting for service so it will make everyone's life easier if you're prepared. Also, go during the week if you're able - they are super busy on Saturdays. The great: Prompt, organized delivery. The delivery person got the materials as close to the installation site as he was able, and the materials laid out in the appropriate order. Materials were high quality. The not-so-great: Website is out of date. They are advertising a paver brand they no longer carry so I had to change my selection when I went in to order. However, I absolutely love what I ended up selecting so no harm done. Would be good if they did update the website though. They don't deliver on Saturdays and they're closed on Sundays - again, seems like they're used to working w/ tradesman and have tradesman hours. The disappointing: When I was placing my order the deskman looked at my plans and advised that I was ordering too much sand. Knowing how precise my architect boyfriend is with his calculations I was reluctant to reduce the order by the half yard recommended but I'm ignorant and opted to split the difference and reduced the order by a quarter yard. It was a mistake reducing the order at all and I ended up having to buy 12 bags of sand on the day of installation. Lesson learned. read more

The delivery guy was happy to be creative about where he unloaded. I ordered too much and had no trouble returning the extra for a full refund. Most paving projects are a big deal. I have purchased from Pavingstone Supply on 2 occasions for DIY projects at my house. Both projects were in the $1-2k range in supply costs. My first experience 8 years ago was pretty good. They helped me design and were really helpful estimating how much to buy. Customer service was good. Boy has this changed. I purchased a 80 2x2 pavers and had them delivered to my house. After hiring some help for the day I quickly found out that over 1/2 of the product was damaged (chips, cracks, big chunks missing). As a result I had to take back the product to the store at my own cost (1/2 days labor for 3 people when all said and done). When I went to the store they insisted on charging me a 20% restocking fee even through they had previously agreed the product was bad. When trying to inform them of the hassle and cost they added to my project they sarcastically told me that they didn't care what this hassle did to my labor costs on the project. After arguing with them for almost 30 min they finally agreed to waive the restocking fee. If I were you I would go direct to Mutual Materials. They sell the same product and have a much more organized and customer focused staff. read more

We (my girlfriend and I) decided to revamp our backyard. We have no experience laying down a patio and found the owner and staff very knowledgeable and patient. The owner is very friendly and even drew a diagram of our backyard based on what we had said and gave us new ideas. He was sensitive to our budget, and advised us based on his experience rather than trying to make a buck. Once we decided what we wanted, he gave us very clear and easy to follow instructions on how to lay a patio. The quantity of materials he told us to buy was precise. When we slightly altered our design and had a few extra stones, they refunded us for the stones we didn't use. Overall we found the Pavingston Supply to have a good broad selection of materials, the prices were reasonable and the owner was very helpful. He supplied us with all the necessary means and made it very easy for us to create a beautiful backyard patio. read more

Never again!! Knew I was pushing the 2 pm closing time on the 31st but wanted to look at their river stone and pebbles for a project as I had purchased there before and they have a good selection. Had to park a block away and couldn't get to the gate as the loader kept passing in front of me - back and forth - for over 10 minutes. Other choice was get run over in the busy road! I did walk in the gate after their closing (it was open and loader had left the walking space along the road so I could get to it) - though they had just been talking to a man about his project! I had no plans to order - just compare prices (product right by the front fence). One employee told me I couldn't come in but I asked if I could just look for a wholesale purchase and he said "Yes, just look". Another came over as I was taking a picture and said I had to leave immediately as it was after closing time. I was able to take only one photo and walked out. Asked about wholesale discount and employee said it depended on product and he didn't know... With me went my $10,000 to $12,000 Monday purchase as I will never patronize them again. If I had an employee who wouldn't spend 5 minutes to make that much money for my business they wouldn't be there and these two probably shouldn't either!! (Suspect they didn't think a short little gray-haired woman would really buy anything?). read more
