Shivering, I happily accepted the word of the technician. I am repenting in leisure. When the work was done, and the technician, Zack, told me that, if I wrote a good review on Yelp, they would pay me $25.00----in the form of a gift certificate to eBay, Amazon or an online company of my choice---I got a different idea about all those great reviews. The heater stopped working 6 months later. Fishing out the invoice, I saw there was no written proof of a guarantee. I took the tech at his word and hadn't checked. Again, I was cold! When, after many calls and an email, David dispatched a second tech from Express to assess the problem, he told me that water was dripping on the new part and that the water had ruined it. He charged me $80.00 for coming out, saying the failure was my fault. None of this was written down. The technician said he could get me another part for $3,700 or install a different heating system for $15,000. Either way, he said, the $80 would be applied. Now the nickel drops. The dawn breaks, and I hire an inspector to tell me whether there is a leaking pipe that I need to repair. The inspector told me there was nothing leaking on the new part, in fact there were no water pipes anywhere near the furnace, only gas pipes. He also said that the technician had installed a red bypass wire, a temporary fix at best. So this review. To alert others. 1. Ask for a written guarantee. 2. Use a credit card so you have recourse. 3. Read the invoice before you sign. 4. Ask to see a photo of the area. 5. Do the opposite of what I did. I'm still cold. I purchased a Cooper & Hunter 5-zone minisplit (ductless) system 11 months ago and had it installed by a guy who's now MIA. Fast forward 8 mos after install and the units aren't working right. My guy's phone number was disconnected but I got through to him by email and he came and allegedly fixed it. 3 mos later it's again not working right and my guy is again MIA and this time I can't reach him at all. Then comes the knight in shining armor... da, da, da, da... Matt/Dr. Ductless! I found him through Yelp. I reached out and he was a plethora of knowledge and eager to save the day, but, of course, since he didn't install my unit, this was going to be a big expense for something that should've been fixed under my labor warranty by the guy that installed it. But since my guy was MIA again, time to turn to the knight for assistance... Matt/Dr Ductless. Matt not only explained all the different possibilities to trouble shoot my system and all costs associated with each step but he went above and beyond and contacted my manufacturer of the units (Cooper & Hunter) to get feedback on what needed to be done. He also sketched out and measured the length from the compressor to each unit to calculate the total linear feet being used by the compressor and then spoke with the manufacturer to find out if I had too many linear feet which could be burdening the compressor. That wasn't the case but we did find out that one of the lines was too short so it needed to be replaced and coiled so the total minimum feet could be accomplished. He also saw that I had a lot of build up on the side vents of the compressor which he determined was because my laundry vent line was venting out of the house just a few feet away and the compressor was sucking the lint in and causing that build up (something no one else ever pointed out... and I did have one other guy come out to check the system and he didn't catch that either). I had to have my laundry lint line rerouted into the basement crawl space to resolve this issue (my contractor handled that). So, after much delimma over the cost (Matt was more expensive than the other guy I called out but you know the old adage, "you get what you pay for") and considering the first time around I picked the guy who was the CHEAPEST, I decided this time it was important to pick the guy who was the WISEST and that was Matt/Dr Ductless! His guys came out a few days ago and the 2 of them worked on my unit almost 5 hours. They found FOUR LEAKS where the units connected to the compressor (the same area my original installer who had come out 3 mos prior allegedly had "fixed"). Ends up my guy had tried a sealant glue on the copper lines instead of cutting, refluting and rewelding, like Matt's guys did. They also cleaned the vents on the side of the compressor thoroughly so no more caked up lint, and they replaced the short line with the new required 15 foot line. And lastly was the most important mission, the refrigerant. My guy had simply added more refrigerant the last time he came out. But, I found out that the manufacturer requires ALL refrigerant is VACCUUMED completely out of the system before replacing with new refrigerant, which required 11 lbs of refrigerant (and that stuff isn't cheap which is why the other guys only wanted to add more, not replace it). Of course Matt had his guys vacuum out all the old refrigerant and then replace it with 11 lbs of the new refrigerant (think of it like a car and the oil in your car, when you go for an oil change they don't just add more oil, they replace all the oil). So, obviously this was a very long story, but, the good news is, it seems to be DONE RIGHT this time! If you want YOUR JOB DONE RIGHT, don't hesitate to call the knight in shining armor, Matt/Dr. Ductless!!! My system now runs like a dream! Super quiet and ultra efficient! We hit 96 degrees only 2 days after they fixed it and my rooms now cool down in only a matter of a FEW MINUTES! Pics show before and after of the compressor being cleaned and refrigerant being readied. I didn't get any pics of the leaking lines but even I could tell they were leaking cuz they were covered in grease. IMHO, Dr. Ductless rocks!!!

Extremely Disappointing Experience -- Unprofessional Service and a Worse Problem Than Before…read more I had an absolutely terrible experience with Dr. Ductless, and I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring this company. I called Dr. Ductless because my Daikin ductless ceiling unit was having problems with its wall controller and condensation drainage. The controller had been working intermittently, and the unit was still blowing cold air even when the controller wouldn't turn on. The technician identified an issue with the condensation drain line and the emergency shut off -- the emergency shut off was full of water from the line not draining and it was turning off the control panel. He proceeded to CUT the line to blow water out. He then claimed that insulation in my attic was preventing the line from draining properly, but refused to move or work around the insulation to investigate further. Instead, he told me I needed to address the insulation before he could determine what was actually wrong. Here's where the experience became completely unacceptable. After he worked on the drain line and emergency shut off, water began leaking THROUGH MY CEILING. This was NOT happening before his visit. When I pointed out the new leak, rather than taking responsibility or investigating why the situation had worsened, he insisted that it had already been leaking before he touched anything. While there might have been a small leak (I really don't know) it was not coming through the ceiling until he worked on it. What might have been a drop here and there was now a river destroying my ceiling. He claimed the water was coming from the emergency safety shutoff, said he had reconnected the drain line, and suggested that the condensate pump might be broken. But he couldn't confirm the cause. His proposed solution? Come back another day for a repair that he said could cost $900- $2,000, without providing a definitive diagnosis. He said he'd have to replace the drain line to see if that fixed the problem and if it didn't he would replace a pump and see if that fixed it. But he didn't really know if either of those things would fix it and suggested I try moving the insulation myself first. Meanwhile water was leaking through the ceiling. I asked him to fix the leak and he said it would stop if I turned off the unit. I pointed out the controller was not working and I have no way to turn it off. He offered no additional solutions, charged me $189 (the price I agreed to when I scheduled the visit) and left. So, to summarize: I paid for a professional to diagnose a problem, was told he couldn't properly investigate it because of attic insulation, watched the situation become significantly worse after he worked on the system, and was then presented with the possibility of a $2,000 repair without a clear explanation of what had actually failed. What I found most disturbing wasn't just the lack of a clear diagnosis. It was the dismissive response when I pointed out that water was now leaking through my ceiling. I expected a professional technician to take that concern seriously, investigate the source, and make sure the system was left in a safe condition. Instead, I was left with a malfunctioning air conditioner, a blank wall controller, water leaking into my ceiling, and no resolution. I called a handyman I've used before and he came to my house the next morning, propped up the condensation drainage pipe (without touching the insulation) and the leak stopped, the pipe began flowing properly, and the control panel started working. Why the doctor ductless technician couldn't do that is beyond me. It took 15 minutes. I have completely lost confidence in Dr. Ductless and will not be using this company again. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them. If you value accountability, thorough troubleshooting, and technicians who take your concerns seriously, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Recently I became concerned that the units might not be functioning properly and called to receive service. The woman who answered the phone was surprised to realize that the company had not contacted me to service the units in the four years that I had had the systems, as they should have done so annually or semi annually (I don't remember which). She scheduled a service call for between 9 and 11 AM the day before yesterday with a phone call 30 minutes in advance to let me know that the technician was on his way. Several minutes after 11 o'clock, I called to inform them that no technician had either called or arrived. I was told that there had been an emergency, and my service call was rescheduled for today. Obviously no emergency precludes a phone call. I learned today that they had been informed of the emergency at around 10 o'clock that day but didn't contact me. Today a technician did arrive within the two hour window but without calling me first. After three failures, I cannot recommend this company to other consumers. (about six hours later) I wrote the review above while the technician was working on my systems. I found him to be very thorough and courteous. He assured me that the company was reputable and asked me not to leave a negative review, not knowing that I had already done so. The AC was working fine. I had just purchased the house with a 42 year old AC and I wanted an expert to perform a checkup. This company was specifically recommend by our realtor for old AC systems. The first thing he did was turn on and measure the pressure on the system, a system that he cannot refill and connecting to releases dangerous freon. The AC and circulation fan were running fine. He asked me if the filter has been replaced recently, I didn't know I had closed on the house 3 days ago. I checked the filter and he came running saying why did you do that. Another round of you're wasting my time. Eventually he got tired of waiting for the reset to trip and he shorted the wires to force the compressor on. That's when he told me the system didn't work because the circulation fan was broken. I told him it worked fine before and he shorted the wires to turn it on. Again and again that I'm wasting his time. The AC system worked fine, then he moved on to the furnace. He said the furnace was dangerous, asked if I had kids, and told me it needed to be replaced the gas company would red tag it immediately. Eventually he told me that it's not worth spending a nickel to maintain my furnace and AC and tried to sell me on a full replacement, I played along just to get him out of there. At no point did he explain to me what a 4 psi refrigerant drop over 42 years means if I actually cared about keeping the system The next day, I had a termite fumigation scheduled and the guy from SoCal gas came by to turn off the gas, thank God. He told me to never replace the furnace or AC unless I absolutely had to. The Train manufactured AC and furnaces from the 80's are better than anything you can buy today for residential properties. He also pointed out that the previous owner had blocked off the fresh air intakes to the garage. Something the Season Control technician didn't bother to notice, probably because I was wasting his time. This was supposed to be an expert HVAC recommendation for maintaining older systems, and it was clearly a very experienced expert guy. The only thing I got from him was intentionally leaking R22, a lecture on wasting his time, and a hard sell for a replacement I don't need. And no information that I actually wanted about how to maintain the system I have. I'm also 2 days into trying to receive the invoice for the service. Was supposed to be sent to my email, didn't happen. Tried to call twice, first time no answer, 2nd time got put on hold then hung up on

Please look at my profile for proof…read more I had a really regrettable experience with Air Elite Heating and Cooling--would strong suggest not using this business for any kind of product install. I paid $11,000 for a job that really is substandard. 1. Danny came to do my quote and was very nice, but when actual installation came he was not onsite. A very young and inexperienced guy installed the units basically in the middle of the wall. I was not consulted asked before the guy tore huge fist size holes in my wall that are in no way standard placement for mini splits. The guy moved the unit, I had to pay for the walls to be repaired and repainted! 2. The condenser was placed on the ground in the driveway. Again--I was never consulted about where it was to be installed. It should have been installed on the side of the house--it limits the function of my driveway forever. I cannot get my recycling/trash out if I am parked in my own driveway. 3. The drains that were placed on the outer wall of my house were installed so poorly that they constantly fall off. They were not adhered at all. When I put them back up, they are fitted so shoddily that they cannot be secured. Every time I pick them up and try to reassemble them--I can see how jankily they were put together. One of them is now cracked and water is spewing all over my wall. For nearly $11K spent, I feel really taken advantage of and bad about the integrity of their work. I contacted them in advance of this review with all of these points--they never responded.
