Growing up in NYC I ate street gyros through most of my childhood and after moving to Boston I was always put off by the lack of availability. Luckily for me GreCo does a great job filling that space. The space in small but nice, I love the seating against the wall where you can kind of just settle in and get cozy. The prices are also very reasonable for what you get. I've been sticking with the classic bifteki pita which has been delicious. I also really enjoy the house hot sauce. It's cozy and warm (although tight for seating space) and filled with the mouthwatering smells of shawarma and potatoes frying. Tasty - but not the best! If I had to rank my fast casual gyro sandwich chains, I would say Gyro City ranks 1, Verts 2, Gre.co 3, and Saloniki 4. Am I forgetting any other big names...? I got the classic chicken gyro which comes with chicken, honey mustard sauce, seasoned fries, fresh tomato and red onion on a pita. If you like spicy and are getting your food to go, I recommend asking the staff to squirt you some hot sauce in a to go cup instead of having to unwrap your food and slowly douse your sandwich using the sauce bottles they have on the tables. The chicken was a little dry, which is always why I get the souvlaki (kabob style) at Gyro City instead but this place only had the gyro. However, Verts also only has gyro meat but I thought their chicken was tender and juicy. I appreciated the heavy seasoning on the fries, very herby without being salty. But, the honey mustard sauce was a little lackluster and didn't wow me. This is a reasonably priced place (~$10-13) when in the Back Bay area but I don't think I'd go out of the way to come back. read more

Overall, we were very satisfied with our visit to Gre.Co. My favorite dish was the horiatiki. All the tomatoes, onions and cucumbers were extremely fresh and this delicious, traditional salad was served with large pieces of feta cheeeeeeeese! The Greek fries were a little soft, but covered in very delicious feta. The zucchini chips were tasty too. The pita was piping hot. Service was very friendly and we did manage to score one of the coveted wall seats with the little pillows. The seating here is not the most comfortable, but the pillows were a nice touch at these little wall spots. The decor is cute with traditional Greek themes and I loved that they had a copy of the book Zorba the Greek prominently displayed. OPA! It was rather crowded when we first came in, died down a bit while we were eating, and then picked up again right when we were ready to order dessert. It's not the most relaxing and chill atmosphere here just because there are so many people coming in and out. Also, if you are seated at the long table in the middle of the restaurant, watch out for people entering and exiting who may be dangerously close to knocking over your food or drinks with their bags. I would not recommend bringing a date here or planning a leisurely, relaxing meal, but if you need some quick and delicious food, this is the place to go. We tried two portions of loukoumades for dessert. We were happy with the flavor combination of the pistachio and creme one, although the loukoumades themselves were a little cold. The second batch we tried featured caramel, almonds and sea salt. These sounded amazing but ended up being covered in waaaaay too much sea salt. The salt just overpowered the other flavors. If you get these, try them without the salt. You can also customize your loukoumades order, so I may do that the next time. I can't wait to go back and try more of menu options. Hopefully, the crowds will die down a bit soon to make eating in the restaurant more enjoyable. In the mean time, I'll probably be taking my orders to go. read more

I think it's because I usually have some sort of fries in my gyro, and the sauce wasn't particularly tasty. My go-to for Greek food in Back Bay Area. My favorite combo is lamb and spicy whipped feta. The lamb is really really juicy and flavorful and the feta just adds a nice kick to it. I tried pork and it was quite tough so I'll stick with lamb. Tzatziki is really nice if you don't like feta. Fried zucchini is also great. The loukoumades are a great indulgence to have. Was craving some Greek food and Yelp pointed me in the direction of Gre. Co which was a short walk from our hotel. We both decided on the Salad option and chose chicken with the Horiatiki salad. The menu said the salad included tomato, cucumber, onion, kalamata olives, oregano, feta and olive oil. I guess it was our misinterpretation of the word 'salad' because we were expecting all of that to be on a bed of lettuce. It is not! The chicken was just OK. It's broken down into pretty small pieces so was difficult to eat when surrounded by so many large tomato chunks. If you're not a tomato lover, get a different salad. We also had a side of Greek fries and they were delicious. We waited with the lunch crowd in a long line and considering we were both kind of hungry still after our meal, I think we would skip this if we ever returned to Boston. read more

SO GOOD. I was in desperate need for a bite to eat after doing some holiday shopping in Copley / Prudential. A quick Yelp search revealed the highly rated GreCo just a short walk away. I arrived around 2pm on a Wednesday and there were a handful of people in the small shop. I ordered the Classic Chicken Gyro, and they kindly fulfilled my request of substituting the honey mustard for the tzatziki sauce. As you may have guessed, the classic chicken came with chicken, tomato and onions (and tzatziki at my request) on a pita. The pricing was fair for about $9 and was a pretty good sized portion. The interior is small, but has an adorable minimalistic interior with Greek design influence. They also have a variety of Greek items for sale such as salt and olive oil. Definitely make GreCo a stop for your next fast casual bite in Back Bay. read more

My boyfriend and I were on a hunt for something relatively cheap [for the area], fast and within walking distance. While in town for work I found this eatery on Yelp and decided to try for lunch. Cute location and decor, but easy to miss if you don't know it's there because the entrance is below ground level. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait to order/receive your food on a weekday during lunch. Otherwise, ordering was very easy and the staff was pleasant. Since I was exceptionally hungry I decided to order the platter with lamb, tzatziki and I selected the fries as my side option. It comes with sliced pita, sliced tomatoes and red onions. After tip and tax it came out to just over $12, which is a little pricey for your every day lunch. In the future I'd probably order ahead for pickup and just get a pita considering I used the pita in my platter to make little mini ones anyway. read more

My taste buds give this place 5 stars! I came across Gre.Co through instagram and immediately scrambled over the next day. Fast food? Situated right on Newbury St? You guys are making it too easy. The place is beautiful with an open kitchen concept, high tables for a quick bite, and stunning floor tiles. I gotta recommend the classic pork on a pita while my boyfriend got the lamb plate. I don't know why Greeks love putting fries in my meals but I LOVE the surprise every time! The meal was fantastic except we came around 1pm on Thursday and it started to get packed after we placed our order. The line went across the restaurant and there was a long wait for food to be ready. As the concept is "fast-food" it wasn't exactly that - though delicious. One of my favorite places to shop is Bobbles & Lace on Newbury Street. I come to Boston a few times a year and stay at the Westin Copley Place, I grab a coffee next-door at Nero and do my shopping at B&L. About a month ago, I realized a new, healthy Greek restaurant opened up. I knew immediately I must try it. Welcoming any new business into my favorite town, I walked promptly downstairs to order. I got a chicken falafel in a pita. The woman working there said it was a customer favorite. I got a water bottle and my entire meal was less than $10 including tip. It was a beautiful fall day so I sat outside and people watched as I enjoyed my falafel. It was perfectly filling and even had french fries in it. I am not a huge fan of sauce, so the one thing I will say is that it was a little heavy on the sauce. Otherwise, I would definitely come here again and check out some of their salad bowls. There is seating indoors and outdoors, of course and the restaurant itself is pretty tiny. Most people were taking their food to-go. I went in at a popular lunch hour, but I didn't wait long at all to order and for my food to be ready. read more

Literally my favorite spot for food. I've gone to the other location near seaport boulevard twice, but when I came here this one was closer and I didn't want to go much farther into the city and I wanted to check out the new location. First off, the decor in this place is so cool! I love it. It's a lot smaller than the other one but I like the style a lot better. When I went, it was pretty busy especially for the time! The line moved pretty fast though. It's not like the other Greco where it's like a subway style where they move you down the line. At this location, there is a guy at the register and you just tell him what you want and he puts it into the register (like regular businesses usually). The food is done in about like five minutes not even. The service is really good! Not really much to say about it but the food is just phenomenal. It blows me away every time. I get the pork gyro which comes with fries inside!! It also comes with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki and I'm not sure on anything else. The pork is my favorite. I've also tried the chicken which is pretty good too! I wish they had locations closer to me, but it's so worth the hour drive if you have a free day! read more

This is one of the BEST Greek restaurants I have ever been to. It serves delicious gyros that have a fresh twist. I got the lamb with a delicious tomato sauce (which is different from the usual tzatziki). Everything on the menu sounded trendy, but not in a bad way. Often times restaurants butcher a traditional food by making it modern and hip, but this place did it right! The fresh doughnuts (or yaya and golpho loukoumades) were also great! The loukoumades were made fresh and still hot when we got them. The salty, caramel golpho and chocolate, Oreo yaya weren't too sweet and complimented the warm, crispy balls of dough perfectly. Man I love this place! I work a few blocks away and eat here fairly regularly (when I'm bad and don't bring my lunch from home). Everything they serve is house made and so fresh! The gyros are unreal...note, spicy whipped feta is TDF! The loukoumades (Greek donuts) will have you singing. The staff is amazing to say the least. The husband and I ate here today with my niece and her BFF. The BFF is from Greece and she was very impressed. Since it was nasty weather outside today, GreCo was particularly quiet. To our advantage, Zoi took the time to really talk to us and tell us their story. She's always smiling and really passionate about the food and the business itself. She told us how a lot of love goes into the food, it's so obvious once you taste all of it. Long live Zoi and GreCo. You REALLY need to check this place out if you have not already! We got the custom plate w/ pork, gyro and the santorini salad w/ lamb. This is a cozy little place w/ a fun menu. Unfortunately, I found the lamb to be way under-seasoned, somewhat gamey and pretty dry. I'm looking forward to trying the chicken next. I also tried the spicy feta sauce and it was good. My husband tried the loukaniko (pork & leek sausage) and he said that he has had better. He gave it 3.5/5. All that aside, they are pretty generous with the serving size and the prices are pretty decent for what you get.
