Shrimp Lo Mein with 4-5 shrimp in it. I also order, the shrimp patties with gravy.

Today I ordered shrimp lo mein and shrimp patties and I have to say this was the worst meal I have received from this place. So disappointed that their quality of food and cleanliness has went out the window. The food horrible and a black hair found in my food. I am no longer going to support these people. This is unacceptable. I had been going to this place for atleast 5-7 yrs. No more Great Wall. I hope I don' t get sick from this food. Garbage, food was not fit to eat.. my dog won't even eat it.

Great Wall advertises itself as "New York Style Chinese Food," which I find kind of strange, since most Chinese restaurants classify themselves by the Chinese province (Hunan, Szehchuan, Cantonese, etc.) that influences their cooking. Anyway, this is a decent place for carryout. It's possible to dine in, but I wouldn't recommend it. The seating area is very plain and has a cafeteria-style feel to it. It's generally rather noisy in there from the sounds of the kitchen as well. I'm not crazy about their crab rangoon. At six pieces for just under $3 they're inexpensive compared to other local Chinese places. At Great Lake, for instance, you get much smaller crab rangoon for about twice the price. So the problem isn't price or portion size at Great Wall- it's quality. The filling is fine, but the wrappers they use are kind of tough and chewy. I prefer them to be on the lighter, crispier side. The crab rangoon are not awful, but they're not the best I've ever had. I've gotten takeout fairly often with friends, and they recommend the Chicken Szechuan style. Portions are generous. I often get the quart size serving and split it with a companion, and there's almost always more leftover for the next day. I almost always get the Bean Curd Szechuan style, because it's quite good, some of the best bean curd I've had in southeast Michigan. The dish is full of large, savory triangles of fried bean curd, and the sauce, while probably loaded with sodium and MSG, is tasty. Further, the vegetables are really nice in this dish. The carrots and broccoli are only lightly fried and are crisp and bright in color. It also usually comes with mushrooms, bell pepper, water chestnuts, baby corn, and bamboo shoots.

Have been going to the Great Wall in Canton for 20 years family owned, but it changed families quite a bit. Food is outstanding.

There are a few things that one should note right off the bat:…read more 1) Ypbor Yan moved buildings a couple of years ago, so old reviews that discus the interior space are very much outdated. 2) Their new sign reads Ypbor FM as they have a *F*ood *M*useum in the entry way, but the "museum" is both easy to overlook and certainly not the main draw of the business. 3) Look at the most popular dishes on Yelp and take many of the reviews with a few grains of salt. Why? This is a Sichuan restaurant, and while they may offer sweet and sour chicken, almond boneless chicken, and whatever other American-Chinese dishes you fancy, those in the know come for the distinctive numbing ma-la spice of the region. Southeast Michigan, being in the midwest, is generally lacking in really traditionally fiery foods. As such, Ypbor was such a delightful change of pace I was tempted to give the place five stars. However, that desire was really about the cuisine and not the execution. The food is good to be sure, I'm going to return again and again, but there are definitely elements that are lacking. While I do not want to linger on the negative, the noodles could be improved, the dan-dan was super wet and more like a soup, and while the salt miner's chicken was fine and I'm glad I tried it once, it's decidedly not a must order dish. That said, the Sichuan poached fish is great. I was also absolutely charmed by the Spicy Chinese Broccoli in a Wok, which while under the vegetable section contains a generous amount of sliced pork belly. Part of the charm was that this was not the "Chinese Broccoli" I was expecting. The broccoli itself was more like traditional broccoli, but white in color. Flavors, textures, and heat were all fantastic. The menu is long, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of it. Perhaps there is a way to make a 5* meal from the options, and nothing would make me happier than to share that with you all at some point down the road. Until then, I recommend checking out the newer, cleaner, friendlier Ypbor, and getting outside of your comfort zone with trying legit Sichuan foods. Just remember, everything is intended for family style eating, so one entree for every two people is plenty. Leftovers are fine, but this food is always better when it's freshly prepared, as opposed to traditional "Chinese Takeout" which some might argue was never really all that great in the first place.

Hats off to the Ypsi food scene. There are plenty of good restaurants in Ypsi and Ypbor Yan is no…read moreexception. Phenomenal authentic Chinese cuisine; they have a Chinese-American menu too, but I highly recommend that you order off the authentic Chinese menu. I had a fantastic bowl of hot & sour soup along with pork in fish-fragrant sauce and stir-fried Chinese broccoli. The pork was outstanding and contrary to its name, fish-fragrant sauce does not contain any fish; it is a sweet, sour and spicy sauce which gives the sauce its name. And Chinese broccoli is one of my favorite veggies; or the greens were so vibrant. Great hot and sour soup and pot of hot tea too! This restaurant is so clean and welcoming! I am adding this establishment to my rotation and will return soon!

Plenty of parking outside and when you walk in, it is so much bigger than you would expect!…read more There is a fountain at the entrance and then you turn right into their second doors and walk down the hallway. We opted for the Dim Sum (though I walked through the buffet on the way to the bathroom and it's huge but food looked okay). The food was sub par to me. The Fish fillet congee was pretty good though (strong ginger flavor)! Would def get that when we are sick. We also tried the Pan fried veggie and pork bun which had a tiny crunch texture that I liked. Flavor was okay. I enjoyed the flavor and texture of the Chinese cruller in rice roll. I used that sauce to eat the pan fried veggie and pork bun and it made the flavor better! The baked BBQ pork bun was mostly all bread and barely BBQ pork but it tasted fine. They had a changing table and space for the stroller but the changing table was so dirty! Overall, we would return to try more dim sum. But I expect it all to taste just okay. Pricing is average. Employees were very friendly!

This is definitely hitting the repeat spot list for me. And they run a Friday lunch and early dinner special for the buffet. Less than 15 is what I saw posted. Lady was nice and responded soon as I walked in.
