HIRE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK! I recently purchased a new home that need termite extermination for drywood termites and subterranean termite. The first one is exterminated using fumigation. The second is exterminate using soil treatment. First of all, you need to know that Great Wall does not fumigate. They subcontract that work to another company called Nor Cal Fumigation (https://norcalfumigation.com/). Great Wall is only qualified to do soil treatment. In the State of California, there are three levels of termite control work that determines what type of extermination you can do. Each level is called a "branch". Only Branch 1 exterminators can do fumigation. Great Wall is only Branch 2 and 3. They can only do inspections and soil treatment; it's on their license (#8295). When I hired them, they made it seem like that did everything. This is not true. I found that to be a bit disingenuous and lack transparency. They never stated they sub out the fumigation work in the contracts. The "fumigation" listed in their signage is not 100% accurate. I now see that as a yellow flag in terms of business ethics. After the soil treatment work by Great Wall, I noticed large holes drilled in my porch that were poorly patched up. They just slapped on the patch concrete and barely smooth it out (see photos). They didn't bother to match the color and texture. In a couple of holes they didn't even smooth it out at all to the level of the original surface. One of the worst holes is right under my front door where any guest who visits can see it clearly. In essence, they mangled the entry way to my new home. Since they don't do fumigation, Great Wall literally had one job and they still screwed it up. I did a little research after-the-fact and I found out that the most difficult thing done in soil treatment work is the patch-up work on the holes afterwards on the drilled-out pavement, concrete, tiles and bricks. Some companies go out of their way to ensure the drilled-out hole is perfectly patched such that it matches the original surface and color and are almost impossible to detect. Not even close (see photos again). I communicated my displeasure to Chester Hui at Great Wall and his replies were immediately defensive to say the least. I finally told him to have his techs come fix the holes. It would require them to drill out the old patch, chisel off any residue concrete on the side of the hole, repatch with color match and smooth out with a broom to match the swept concrete of the original surface. I told him to practice this technique before coming to my home to do the repair. I do not want them to use my place as a guinea pig where they could potentially do more damage. I think that is a very reasonable request. And guess what. I got no reply. Nothing. No further emails. No calls or voicemails. No further communications from Great Wall to fix their poor craftsmanship. Chester never contacted me again on fixing their mistake. I shelled out $2500 for the termite work and now I have a porch that looks like it's been vandalized. I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs on termite exterminators on their poor quality of work (https://www.pestboard.ca.gov/howdoi/complaint.shtml). I'm currently obtaining quote from professional concrete repair companies on fixing the patches. This is what I have to deal with now after hiring Great Wall to do the termite work at my new home. In summary, 1. Call around for a termite company that can do both fumigation and soil treatment. You cut out the expense of a middleman that subcontracts, which may save you some money. Great Wall only does soil treatment and sub out the fumigation work. 2. Ask the company on how they patch the drilled-out holes in concrete. Do they match color and texture of the original surface? If not, keep looking. Great Wall doesn't know how and when asked to fix their mistakes, they ignore you after taking your money. 3. Buyer beware. You've been warned. read more

Cannot recommend Great Wall highly enough! We were very pleased with every aspect of their service! We needed an exterminator to deal with some termites before we repainted and added stucco to the front of our home. We got about 6 quotes, and Great Wall was very competitive. Then our stucco contractor arrived unexpectedly to do other work, and we needed the extermination done THAT DAY! We contacted Chester in the office, and Gus out in the field, and they said they could be there by 3pm - which would delay the contractor. Well, they were there by noon! Saved us hours of delay, and did an excellent job! They sent Philip and his team, and were done and gone without delaying the stucco work! We then needed them to reseal the holes in the concrete because our contractor pressure washed them out! Called Gus, and Philip showed up that afternoon to patch up the holes, which turned out to not even be theirs!!! Even fixed some other unrelated cracks. Great response from them all... I don't like how this company operates. They subcontracted our fumigation and they broke our roof and stole our belongings. Communicated with the owner Chester about helping with repairs and instead of helping resolve the issue, he decided not to drive out to meet with us and instead put blame on us that we are false and at fault. A year back we had a huge swarm of termites and so we searched online for a termite company and came across a few. Got a quote from them with some findings of termites and damages. They gave me an explanation of why it was necessary for the repairs. The explanation didn't make sense at all given the age of our home and comparison with other company's findings. Didn't sound like they wanted to help us. Just because we live in an expensive house doesn't mean we deserve a quote that's an arm and a leg. I highly recommend Great Wall Termite Control to deal with any termite issue. Both Chester and Tim are very friendly, knowledgeable, and very responsive to any question. Tim was punctual and arrived on-time for the inspection. He did a thorough walk-thru of the outside and inside of the house checking for termites. As there was evidence of infestation on the 1st and 2nd floors and attic, he recommended a fumigation which I had agreed. The actual fumigation was done by Nor Cal Fumigation. A 3-person team spent about 2 hours to tent and setup fans inside the house to circulate the Vikane fumigant. I reached out to great wall termite for an inspection after getting two different termite reports (one from the seller using Home guard, one from J&M referred through my realtor). However, there were miss matches and conflicting information between the two reports. The inspectors for the reports are hard to reach and does not make much explanation/comments on the other competing report. Struggling as a first time homebuyer, I decided to reach out to great wall termite as a third opinion. Chester was really quick responding to my messages and jumped right on a call to talk with me about the two different reports. He walked through the report with me and that helped me tremendously. Afterwards, we had their inspector Tim over to do another inspection. Tim is awesome. He is very detailed on the inspection and cares to explain all his findings in detail. We used Great Wall Termite Control for a routine termite screening inspection after we bought our house. Chester answered the phone and was very helpful. He even helped us pull the prior inspection report performed for the prior owners that we didn't even know they had done. The inspection window was 11 AM to 1 PM; Gus texted at 10:50 AM saying he'd be there in 10 minutes and showed up at 11 AM sharp. Chester is a really great guy. He was incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, straight forward, and friendly. I initially inquired about a termite inspection because we had just bought a house and I wanted a second quote, separate from the termite report provided by the selling agent. That report said that we not only had termites, but also wood boring beetles. Chester came very highly recommended from the company I originally called (who only handle larger pests, as it turns out). The person I talked to at the other company said something like "I know just the guy you need" or something like that. I'm very glad they put me in touch with him. On the phone, Chester told me he would show up a bit early for our appointment and do an inspection of the outside of the house. When I arrived, he had already been there for an hour or so, walking around the outside and making notes. We walked around the house and he pointed out a bunch of things we should take care of, including things that we hadn't even asked him to look into such as places where rodents could get in through broken screens. I was impressed by everything he noticed and I'm grateful for the helpful notes he made. Once we were done with the outside, Chester did another thorough inspection of the inside of the house and finally climbed down into the crawl space where he spent almost another hour doing a careful inspection of the inside. We have a pretty low crawl space, but he really went out of his way to check all around it even though he had to crawl into some pretty cramped spaces and through a bunch of rat poop. I was leaning over into the crawl space most of the time and I could hear him crawling off into the most distant recesses that I couldn't even see. It was really a major effort. When he came back up again, he said he did not see any evidence of termites, and moreover, there was no evidence of the wood boring beetles that the previous inspector had reported. I showed him the previous inspection report and he found the mark made by the previous inspector to indicate the "beetle" problem on our floor joists, but he explained why the previous inspector was mistaken and showed us pictures illustrating the difference between wood boring beetle damage and what we have in our crawl space. Chester really impressed me with how careful he is and how much he knows. He has a BA in biology from Stony Brook and he really seems to take a thoughtful and technical/scientific approach to everything he does. Most of all, he was really straightforward about the fact that we didn't have termites or beetles, even though he could have stood to gain by agreeing with the previous inspection. When I asked him if we should take preventative measures, he honestly told me that we didn't need to do that until we had a real problem. He even told me how to look out for an actual termite infestation. Chester shared a lot of his knowledge and experience throughout the whole inspection. We probably talked for two hours and I learned a lot. I can't recommend Chester highly enough and I wish him the best of luck with his new business. read more

I called all the top rated yelp termite control places, and I would say that Great Wall is the best, they gave me the best price and did the most thorough inspection. They were the only ones that went into the crawl space and look for damages. They didn't try to upsell me anything and gave a honest review of what I needed done. Also the other termite places told me I had to wait about 1 to 2 months to get my house fumigated. Great Wall was able to get me fumigated with-in about 3 weeks. But Chester knew I wanted it done ASAP, so he contacted me back and was able to get my fumigation done with-in a week. Chester is the best! I cant say enough good things about Chester.
