This place is an absolute gem and was a highlight of my recent trip to the area…read more I was staying in New Paltz and looking for a spot to grab some lunch and maybe get a little work done. I found Karma Road on Yelp--a vegan cafe? Yes, please. It's a small cafe with a few tables inside as well as a few outside. When I arrived, the outdoor seating was full but there was a few tables available inside that were perfect for my needs (dining and working). It's an order at the counter set up. I knew I wanted a sandwich and was leaning toward an avocado sandwich they had on menu. The worker was excessively kind and welcoming. Upon hearing it was my first time there, they asked if I might like a recommendation. I mentioned I was thinking of getting a sandwich. They shared that they're favorite sandwich was the baked tofu. I asked if I could get it with avocado added, they enthusiastically recommended I do so! I did, and my goodness--that sandwich was outta this world. It was absolutely divine. It came with some cucumbers that were seasoned and seemed to have maybe a squeeze of citrus as well? I truly don't know what they had on them but what a simple yet absolutely astoundingly fresh and fabulous side. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or simply like good food--seriously, give this gem a shot. It is well worth the stop. Get to it!

Location, location, location. Main Street, New Paltz, NY. This is a literal high traffic location,…read moreespecially during the summer vacation months in a small upstate town with a bohemian vibe. There's also an ample parking lot on the premises. The restaurant has an indoor and an open outdoor dining section. I stopped in about 3PM, after the lunch rush. I can tell this place gets quite busy. There was a couple ahead of me inquiring about reservations for later. One of the servers mentioned they don't take reservations but they could probably handle the party if they walked in for dinner. Another mention about the service, they opted for a team service style. Any server on the floor will bus tables, get drinks, order and serve food. Team approach. It's pretty efficient. I'm sure it's handy when it gets busy. I had no less than four servers check in on me while I was dining. The food I tried was very good. For here - Grilled pork & egg roll over vermicelli. "Rice vermicelli served at room temperature over a bed of shredded lettuce, cucumbers, pickles, garnished with scallion oil, crushed peanuts and a side of fish sauce. *Just a friendly reminder - contains nuts. Let us know if you have any food allergies." The grilled, smoky pork, crunch of egg roll and peanuts, and freshness of the uncooked lettuce and cucumbers with the umami fish sauce - this is such a satisfying summer meal. To go - Grilled beef Bahn mi. Baguette provided crunch and chew. The lemongrass marinated beef - grilled bits of char and subtle smoke flavor paired with pickled daikon and carrots, some cucumbers and cilantro for freshness and vegetal punch. This is one of the best sandwiches in the world. IPho does it really well. For me, I wish there were a ham and pate version with some Maggi sauce...but I'm not complaining. Even if it weren't so conveniently located, IPho is worth seeking out.

If you're in New Paltz and craving authentic Vietnamese food, iPho is definitely worth a visit!…read moreWe've been there several times and always enjoy our experience. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and the portions are very generous, so you definitely leave satisfied. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is always friendly and attentive, making every visit enjoyable. They also have a great selection of bubble teas, which are perfect if you're looking for a refreshing treat before or after your meal. One of my favorite features is their outdoor patio. It's a lovely spot to enjoy lunch or dinner when the weather is nice.

We ordered that every time we have eaten here in the past. Weird burger combos were noted. I asked about a burger with gorgonzola cheese - instead of the feta cheese that came on one of the burgers. I was told no - they don't have any. Their other restaurant right next door makes a gorgonzola burger. They are always going back and forth to get stuff - why couldn't they just say yes, and grab a bit of gorgonzola from next door? Note that this was around 5:00 pm and there was just one other table occupied, and two people at the bar who were leaving. I wanted a burger, but didn't like any of the weird choices, so I got a Reuben sandwich. The fries were good, but for $17, I would have hoped the corned beef would be good as well. It wasn't very moist or fresh - in fact there were weird brown areas on the meat. I chalked it up to a bad choice. My partner ordered the Philly steak sandwich on a baguette. He has had the French dip sandwich there in the past and liked it. Unfortunately it was no longer on the menu, so he ordered the closest thing. He said he would not order it again, and that says a lot. I tasted it - and it was just not very good. Sorry to say but it is unlikely we will be back.
