Service was excellent - and that's why they are getting an extra star. Unfortunately, the menu has changed dramatically and not for the better. The stuffed mushroom appetizer is gone. We ordered that every time we have eaten here in the past. Weird burger combos were noted. I asked about a burger with gorgonzola cheese - instead of the feta cheese that came on one of the burgers. I was told no - they don't have any. Their other restaurant right next door makes a gorgonzola burger. They are always going back and forth to get stuff - why couldn't they just say yes, and grab a bit of gorgonzola from next door? Note that this was around 5:00 pm and there was just one other table occupied, and two people at the bar who were leaving. I wanted a burger, but didn't like any of the weird choices, so I got a Reuben sandwich. The fries were good, but for $17, I would have hoped the corned beef would be good as well. It wasn't very moist or fresh - in fact there were weird brown areas on the meat. I chalked it up to a bad choice. My partner ordered the Philly steak sandwich on a baguette. He has had the French dip sandwich there in the past and liked it. Unfortunately it was no longer on the menu, so he ordered the closest thing. He said he would not order it again, and that says a lot. I tasted it - and it was just not very good. Sorry to say but it is unlikely we will be back. read more

It's so cute here! We stayed in a bnb near by and this place was the first to pop up for restaurants. We had a really good Cesar salad with chicken & I had a Reuben, the corned beef was Soooooo good. So soft and tasty. The service was nice and our server was very attentive. Such a cute place! read more

Some of the worst service I have ever received. There were only two other people in the restaurant, who were sitting at the bar. The only person working was the bartender, who was chatting away with these two people at the bar. Bartender did not notice us until 10 minutes after we sat down, and when she finally did notice us she said something like "I'm going to take my time getting over to you". Extremely unprofessional. We ordered a two pints of Guinness and a sandwich. 15 min after we ordered she came to tell us that the sandwich would take over 40 min to make. We paid for our Guinness and left. Should have walked out earlier. I rarely leave bad reviews but this was inexcusable. read more

Yesterday, my sorority alumni met at Maggie Mae's for our fall luncheon. My seat had the perfect view of changing fall leaves. The weather here on Long Island was absolutely horrible. When I set out on my road trip upstate, I almost turned around and went home. I am so glad that I didn't! Not only did I share some funny memories and have some good laughs with my sisters of all ages, but I had an incredible lunch, followed by a dessert that almost literally blew me away! I'll post the pictures, but I'll tell you that I had a delicious chicken francaise with asparagus and the most wonderful mashed potatoes. I saved most of the potatoes for last, with a fair bit of the sauce. I only wish that I had brought a rubber scraper with me so I could get every last delicious speck of mashed potatoes. Then came my favorite part: dessert! The menu describesit as a rich chocolate Guinness cake with cream cheese frosting. Yelp reader, I am a Guinness girl. However, I could not begin to conceptualize how the two flavors would work together. Not only did they work together wonderfully, but the cream cheese frosting put an interesting sweet little twist on the flavor. I recently had my wedding at Maggie Mae's on September 20, 2025. The food was spectacular, the service was thoughtful, polite and thorough. They made sure to address the needs of my guests including the concerns of a guest with a particular food allergy to make certain that her concerns were taken seriously and addressed. Kathy Combs, the General Manager is an absolute pro and despite managing two weddings in the same day, took care of all of our needs and made sure that we were taken care of. We had the ceremony outside in the courtyard and Kathy and her staff made sure that everything was ready and looked beautiful. She also had a very nice touch working with me and my wife and our family. I could not have been happier with the day. I highly recommend Maggie Mae's and Garvans Gastro pub for your next important event or even just for lunch or dinner. Save yourself by going somewhere else. Walked in and I wasn't acknowledged even though the waitress walked right past me several times. I finally asked for a table and was grunted at along with an explanation that everyone just left and no clean tables. I replied no rush and I regret saying that. Finally was told to pick whatever table you'd like only to sit there for another 20 minutes without water or a menu. The waitress approached the table next to mine and said now I have time to be the waitress I truly am and provide you good service. They had finished eating and I was still waiting on the menu. As the waitress went back inside I over heard the table go over all the screw ups with their food and bill. I left and will not bother returning. read more

My husband and I went there for lunch. It was outstanding. I recommend the Malaka Burger if you like banana peppers and feta cheese. I ordered it rare and it came out rare! My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and before I knew it was gone from his plate. We sat outside on a late October afternoon in the sun looking over to the Gunks. You can't beat that. 1st visit. Had lunch with group of 8 on a Saturday. Very accommodating for reservation. Easy parking. Nice location. Reasonable prices. Service not up to par. Getting drinks was a challenge and long wait. Bringing drinks to table and holding glasses at the top of glass was not very hygienic. Please learn how to hold and place glasses on table. Appetizers such as mushrooms, spinach dip and humus were very good. Sweet chicken appetizer was great. French onion soup was fair at best, Way to salty and too much "soy sauce" taste. Chowder was very good. Salads were good. Fish and chips were not good. Small portions and too much of a greasy breading. Tartar sauce was horrible. Corn beef sandwich was bland and thin. Hamburger was excellent. Fries are okay. 5 of us got entrees served and 15-20 minutes later the other 3 got meals served. Chef should not let partial orders for a table go out until all ready ! Deserts was all very good. Coffee was excellent. Service can improve. read more

Dined here for the first time with friends. Their sister restaurant, Garvan's, is on site. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the golf course and a view of the Shawangunk mountain. Our waitresses, one in training, were lovely, attentive, and informative. Our table had chicken Caesar salad, crab cake dinner, and chicken Marsala. Servings were generous. Marsala sauce was different but tasty. Menu is limited but good choices. read more

Another huge win for team McCloskey & Co. This restaurant transformed the 19th hole of a star 9-hole golf course that's undergoing renovations into a winning gastropub experience, where every entree's award worthy and the hospitality can't be beat. We not only sat for hours of drinks and courses of delicious bites, but also got to meet the manager and the owner in the same evening! I sampled fish and chips, mushroom ravioli, salads and appetizers that were all tops! This is a major accomplishment. read more

Had a quiet little birthday dinner tonight (Sunday night). Martin was gracious, funny, and kind. The Tara cocktail was refreshing. I had the french onion meatloaf which was freaking delicious and very filling. Looking forward to our leftovers, since we filled up at the end with a slice of the Guinness chocolate cake (which could have been mistaken for a whole cake). Beautiful location and view. Patio to sit outside and inside seating is more of a clubhouse atmosphere. Great prime rib although if you want it well done please specify WELL Drink menu was varied and their specialties are delightful. Creme brulee was out of this world. read more

Maggie Maes has a beautiful location over the golf course. The service is great and the food is tasty.

Just got back from a lovely lunch on the upstairs deck overlooking the golf course. What a splendid view towards the ridge! The menu selection for lunch was very good. Appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and a variety of entrees. We had some of the yummy clam chowder as a starter and Philly Steak Sandwiches with fries. All was very good. The fries were hot and crunchy and quite delightful. The waitstaff was courteous and obliging. Garvan even put in an appearance, coming over to see that all was going well. It is quickly becoming a popular place to eat. I am anxious to go back and try the breakfast menu--I heard the Eggs Benedict is very good. There is limited space outside on the deck so it's advisable to make a reservation if you're counting on eating outside with the view. read more

The view on the outside patio is lovely. It overlooks a golf course with mountains in the background. Service was excellent. Food was good. We had the Mac Burger which was loaded with dried onions, bacon and cheese. It came with choice of fries, house chips or an up charge for a salad. We also had the crab cake sandwich. Loaded with chunks of crab. Comes with same choices of sides. Ice tea was watery and the seltzer was flat. Fries have a coating. Not bad but I prefer plan. Great place off the beaten New Paltz path. Overlooks the golf course and has excellent views of the mountains in the background. Went for anniversary dinner and sat outside on the deck. Take the incredible food and atmosphere of Garvan's and condense it into an equally incredible and atmospheric pub on the golf course and you have Maggie Maes. The finest view in New Paltz, overlooking the New Paltz Golf Course and beautiful Shawangunk mountains. Started by sharing the cheddar and broccoli soup, which was excellent and welcome on this chilly Memorial Day. My wife had the crab sandwich (with a nice salad readily substituted for fries) and I had the lump crab entree with rice pilaf and French green beans. Everything was very fresh and very tasty. The service was top notch. We lingered on the deck over coffee and tea as the sun began to peek through the clouds, never feeling rushed. A perfect way to relax and savor our meal and the view. We have eaten at neighboring Garvan's several times and are so happy that Maggie Mae's maintains that restaurant's high standards for food and service, and the location can't be beat. Looking forward to returning for breakfast and dinner, and indulging in the homemade desserts when we do. read more

We have been there twice. Good food and friendly service. Casual entire and great view of the golf course. It is definitely worth a try and a welcomed change to what New Paltz has to offer. read more
