Location, location, location. Main Street, New Paltz, NY. This is a literal high traffic location, especially during the summer vacation months in a small upstate town with a bohemian vibe. There's also an ample parking lot on the premises. The restaurant has an indoor and an open outdoor dining section. I stopped in about 3PM, after the lunch rush. I can tell this place gets quite busy. There was a couple ahead of me inquiring about reservations for later. One of the servers mentioned they don't take reservations but they could probably handle the party if they walked in for dinner. Another mention about the service, they opted for a team service style. Any server on the floor will bus tables, get drinks, order and serve food. Team approach. It's pretty efficient. I'm sure it's handy when it gets busy. I had no less than four servers check in on me while I was dining. The food I tried was very good. For here - Grilled pork & egg roll over vermicelli. "Rice vermicelli served at room temperature over a bed of shredded lettuce, cucumbers, pickles, garnished with scallion oil, crushed peanuts and a side of fish sauce. *Just a friendly reminder - contains nuts. Let us know if you have any food allergies." The grilled, smoky pork, crunch of egg roll and peanuts, and freshness of the uncooked lettuce and cucumbers with the umami fish sauce - this is such a satisfying summer meal. To go - Grilled beef Bahn mi. Baguette provided crunch and chew. The lemongrass marinated beef - grilled bits of char and subtle smoke flavor paired with pickled daikon and carrots, some cucumbers and cilantro for freshness and vegetal punch. This is one of the best sandwiches in the world. IPho does it really well. For me, I wish there were a ham and pate version with some Maggi sauce...but I'm not complaining. New Paltz, NY - there's nothing like a hot bowl of pho to warm you up in this weather! We came recently on a Sunday late afternoon for an early supper, and the place was already completely packed. The ambiance is warm and the food is very good, with a menu concentrated on pho (and variations on the classic), rice & vermicelli platters, and banh mi, with a vegetarian version of each. I love when a restaurant focuses on the categories they do well and not branch out just for the sake of variety. The pho is perfectly solid, with a flavorful broth though not as complex as my favorite pho place up the street (which I'm normally loyal to but like to switch it up now and then). The sliced brisket isn't paper thin but there's a generous pile of it, on top of an equally generous mound of noodles. Personally I prefer my usual spot but can see why many people like this place better. The banh mi is excellent and very satisfying, stuffed with tender marinated grilled meats, balanced with the sweet tart crunch of pickled carrots & daikon. The deliciousness of the proteins translates equally well to the rice platters. I wasn't a fan of the strawberry milk tea I ordered - it's very sweet and artificial, like a powdered drink not real milk tea. Good bubble teas are so hard to find! The pot of hot jasmine tea was nice though. Whether you pronounce it I-foe or I-fuh, this is a terrific and proper Vietnamese restaurant and we've really enjoyed our meals here. 4.5 stars. read more

One of two pho places in the small town of New Paltz! This place has a parking lot and a decent amount of tables inside and outside. Besides pho and banh mi, the restaurant also has a variety of drinks. My family and I shared a fried pork spring rolls and it was delicious! Perfectly crisped and meaty without being too overloaded. As for the pho, my sister and dad got the sliced steak pho and my mom and I got the grilled pork chop pho. The sliced steak was overcooked and the grilled pork chop was not as flavorful as I'd like. The pho was decent but not the best. The service was great as the server came to check up on us every now and then - refilling our water as well. Water is complimentary but tea is extra charge. There is one restroom for customers as well. As we were heading out, we decided to order drinks to try. We got a Thai iced tea and a Vietnamese coffee. The Thai iced tea was good - not too sweet with enough tea flavor. Ideally, I would like a little more tea flavor though. As for the Vietnamese coffee, my sister and mom enjoyed it very much. We've been here three times. The first two were really good and since then we have been trying to find our way back. Recently we were driving from upstate NY back to NJ and we made it a special stop to go revisit. Unfortunately it did not live up to our memories. What we ordered: - Special Pho - Beef Stew (asked for no pho noodle and to get bread instead because that's the traditional way but still got pho noodles and no bread) - Fried Chicken Wings Food is decent, not terrible but not as good as the first couple times we dined there. We came before their remodel so I'm not sure if it's the same owner/staff as it was a few years ago. While we were there we heard 2 other parties complain about their food being made wrong. All in all the food is fine and would definitely hit the spot if you're craving Vietnamese food in the area but nothing to make a special trip for. read more

I may be new to phó- so when I searched for 'lunch', I didn't hesitate and jumped right in to come to this spot on Main St. in New Paltz for my hour-long break from work. The space outside instantly pulls you in: wooden benches+tables surrounded by blooms- almost felt like a hide-away. The indoor dining room is comfortable with lots of seating and the kitchen is front and center. Despite September's mild weather, I decided on a phò, avocado spring rolls and a Thai Iced Tea. One of IPho's highest marks (for me at least) is that not only do they offer a Vegetable phó- BUT the broth is also made with only veggies- not bone broth or chicken. Thank YOU! I was faced with a steaming bowl of deliciousness and didn't know the best way to attack it. Survival instincts kicked in and used chopsticks on my right and the soup spoon on my left. Heaven! The crispy tofu chunks held their own texture and were indeed "crispy" on the outside/still firm on the inside. Nothing I dislike more than "firm" tofu and it's the total opposite with a mushy mess inside. The rest of the veggies were cooked perfectly. Noodles, excellent. And that veggie broth? Magical. Had the right amount of salt and you could REALLY taste the veggies. I thought I was faced with a phó dilemma and that there is an etiquette that must be observed when I came here. Stopped by IPHO after a day of hiking in the Mohonk Mountains, and it was the perfect comfort spot to relax and refuel! My boyfriend loved the beef pho--it was rich and flavorful--while my chicken rice bowl was hearty and so satisfying. Went there on 4/18 and spent 41.00 dollars on 3 Banh mi. All 3 was worst I've had bought from there. The carrots were not marinated very little cilantro meat was all fat. Been going every year there from Queens New York. If it didn't take me 3 hours to get home I would have taken them right back and ask for my money back. My daughter will be moving into the area and after her final walkthrough, we decided to stay in the area and grab dinner before heading home. We love pho, so iPho was a perfect, yet predictable choice for us. It's in a great location, right on Main Street, near SUNY New Paltz campus. Despite being located on Main Street, they have their own private parking lot, a luxury in the Village! The restaurant is a nice size with Vietnamese style decor. Plenty of seating and space to walk. Bathroom is clean and well maintained. We were greeted and immediately seated. Our waitress came over to greet us and take our drink orders, we didn't have anything fancy, just seltzer with lime. We also knew what we wanted to eat, so we placed our orders. My daughter has celiac and I cannot eat any grains. My daughter ordered the pho with brisket and a side of gluten free fish sauce. I ordered a pho with roasted grilled chicken, no noodles, subbed extra veggies, and a side of gluten free sweet and sour sauce. The roasting/grilling of the chicken added a nice flavor to the broth and the overall flavor of the pho. The sweet and sour was delicious and added an extra element to the dish. My daughter loved her brisket pho and devoured the entire bowl. The portions are a nice size and most leave with a bag of leftovers. Two days a go I found a LONG hair in my soup. I complained to one of the waitresses and she then went over to another waitress, who then went and told the owner who was in the back and did not come out once to speak to me. When the second waitress came back out, in a very rude tone told me that I didn't know what I was talking about and that the hair was not a hair. I am a woman I know what hair looks like. Oh my God, so delicious, the freshest ingredients. One of the best restaurants in New Paltz. Can't wait to go back, but I got the IPHO which is basically soup but all the vegetables come separate and you add them to the soup yourself however much you desire. This place has many many many options on the menu which if that's what your looking for, it's definitely more ideal than pho Tibet down the way. However I don't care for the pho flavor very much. The employees are very young and I've felt several times their lack of effort or care. I try not to let it bother me and have come back but I do always notice the same behavior. I for some reason am obsessed with their coconut milk tea! It's amazing and I actually think I like their plates more than their pho which is funny to say about a pho place. Not sure how this restaurant operates but as a server of another pho restaurant food should be out in 20 min max especially if it isn't busy. College town so there are many things to eat I have now been here twice and enjoyed it. The taro bubble tea was not my favorite. The boba is smaller than what I like and the taro was chalky in the beginning but after mixing the powder a good amount it was much better. I was a little.bervous to try the chicken because it's easier for chicken to be dry over pork but it was delicious! Very tender and very flavorful! Also the spring rolls were good too. The staff works together to serve you so you will probably end up speaking to all the servers during your visit which is fine. They were all very nice. All in all I would revisit. Five Stars for their vegetarian pho! I am a pescatarian and it is so incredibly hard to find vegetarian Pho, even in NYC! The pho here was really good and included both fried and silken tofu. The flavor of the broth was hearty. Summer rolls were good and standard. My companions had rice bowls and a banh mi, everyone liked their food with the pho and rice bowls being the largest portions. Service was good when ordering at the counter and then they bring everything out to your table. In terms of drinks I had the soda chanh (seltzer and lime juice) and really liked it; if you don't want something sweet I highly recommend it. I tried my friend's strawberry lemonade but I found it to be too sweet. This is a great place to stop and have Vietnamese food while traveling downstate on i87 or in the New Paltz area. It's located just 5 minutes from the Thruway off the New Paltz exit, so it's easy to continue your trip downstate after a good meal, which is what we did. Three of us ordered the Com Dac Biet, which has grilled pork, egg roll, shrimp cake, and jasmine garlic butter rice with pickled veggies and a side of fish sauce. The garlic butter rice was an unusual starch for a Vietnamese restaurant, but it was sooo yummy and probably my favorite part of the whole dish. We loved the variety. Each element was tasty in its own right, but really complimented the other parts well. I ate every bite, but it's a large dish and you can easily split it into two meals. I would order this again! The other two in my party ordered the Special Beef Pho, which included sliced beef steak, beef brisket, beef tendon, and beef meatball in a beef broth with noodles. I did not get pics of their bowls, but they were huge. I tasted the beef broth and it was delicious. My friends claimed there were lots of noodles and it was very filling, but they enjoyed the noodle bowls. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal and consider it a repeat stop-by if we're in the area again. The service is great and friendly, too. Can't go wrong with this choice. Highly recommend! read more
