Menu has a variety of specials, curries, noodles and rice entrees, and appetizers. I wanted to order everything. We split the spring rolls and satay. We loved both of them. Spring rolls were so crispy. Satay was made well with delicious peanut sauce. I ordered the pad gaprow as my entree and loved it. The veggies were so fresh and these sauce was delicious. This is my first visit to Aroi in a very long time. There are just so many good restaurants in Rhinebeck from which to choose. It is one of the only restaurants open on a Sunday evening, and we decided to give it a try. We were greeted promptly and seated right away. It was pretty full, and a nice interior. Clearly an old house. We ordered drinks, vegetable pad Thai, and vegetables with ginger and shiitake. The ginger/shiitake dish had a great sauce, but they look like there was only one shiitake mushroom all cut up, and not a lot of vegetables. The pad Thai was tasty, but nothing special. They don't seem to have the dishes with all of the vinegar, chill oils, etc. We did request it and got three little bowls of seasonings. We definitely used them all. Overall, it was OK, but probably won't be anything I crave when heading into town. read more

Delicious!! Probably one of the best Thai food places I've eaten at. For starters we shared the bao buns which were so soft and the meat was so tender. The massaman curry is usually my go to and is what I ordered here and it was absolutely flavorful with great ingredients. We also got the red curry which was delicious. Aroi never misses! After my trip to Thailand, it has been a journey to find a Thai restaurant whose food tastes as authentic as being in the actual country. Here is what I have tried and can 100% recommend... chicken satay, fresh rolls, pad Thai, various curries, basil fried rice, pineapple fried rice, pad gaprow, Tom kha soup, banana spring rolls, mango sticky rice, coconut icecream, yuzo mango boba soda, Thai iced tea. So basically I've had like half of the menu and so it's a really solid guess that everything else is just as amazing. The restaurant is so homey and cute in an old house. The staff is always very helpful with questions and recommendations! If you walk by and they're cooking, you might get carried away by your nose and end up eating here. It is a very cozy space here, felt like eating at home inside here, plus enjoyed the sunshine that was radiating in the dining room. So the service was very attentive for sure, making sure I enjoyed the food, making sure the table was clean and organized before I sat down and overall pretty polite. As for the food, let me say when they lunch special they mean a child size portion, for example my Tom Kha was great flavor wise and honestly delicious but it was barely a cup and would greatly been better with more shrimp which I ordered and a side of rice. Should ordered something else on the lunch menu. But lucky me I had foresight to order the Chicken dumpling soup, which unlike the Tom Kha was filling to a point, I mean the dumplings themselves were overfilled with Chicken since they were not even sealed. The broth was great and on cold day like today, very warming. The butterfly tea lemonade was awesome, refreshingly light and balanced. So two out three makes this a great first visit. read more

Today was all about a work lunch and Aroi was the perfect spot. There were lots of specials to choose from, the regular menu is extensive and the lunch options are great. Service was also awesome. Food was delicious! We shared a couple of appetizers-bao buns with garlic chicken and steamed chicken dumplings. I could have ordered more of those and engorged myself until I passed out, but I displayed a modicum of couth and had the Pad See Ew veggie lunch portion instead of descending into a food induced coma. My lunch companion had the red curry and loved it. No room for dessert but we did have some delicious hot Thai tea throughout the meal. The best Thai food we've had in years, and we go to a lot of Thai restaurants. We had the massaman and panang curry which were both delicious. I've never had pineapple in panang curry but it worked. The green papaya salad was fresh and not over dressed as I find it often is at Thai restaurants. My husband had the kale soup which was a simple broth based soup yet subtly flavorful. The service was friendly and prompt. And I left my favorite scarf, only realizing it 2 days later when we were back home in San Francisco. They mailed it to me the next day and wouldn't accept payment for the postage despite my insistence. Good food. Good people. read more

Every month my girlfriends and I like to try a new place. We had Aroi on our list for a little while. It met all our expectations. The flavor of this food was amazing!! This is definitely a place we will come back to again to try more items on the menu. The waitress was sweet and attentive but not overbearing. Over the years, this has been a must for dinner. Tonight the service was abysmal - we had a reservation for 5 (when the restaurant opens) - and it was TWO HOURS before we got our food. We watched a number of other tables (all of which were seated more than an hour after our party) receive and finish their meals while we waited for our dinner to arrive. When one of our party spoke to the waitstaff, she was gaslighted for complaining. When our food did finally come to the table, half the dishes were cold and the rest were so heavily peppered as to be inedible. When we chose not to leave a gratuity for our waiter, she chased after us to shame us for not leaving a tip. We gave the guy refilling our water (6 times) a generous tip because he was attentive and pleasant. read more

I have gone here many times in the past as recently as just a a year or two ago. The quality of the food has been steadily declining over the past several years while getting more expensive at the same time with declining portion sizes. However, the quality of the food has dramatically changed to what I consider very poor quality ingredients and a complete lack of care in the cooking and literally child size portions. We ordered Dumplings and the Menu stated Six (6) Pieces. We ordered several order of Dumplings and the all came out with only Four (4) pieces. We were told that is what the order size was with no explanation as to why the Menu stated Six (6) pieces. The quality was poor on the Dumplings as well. Even my tall thin Girlfriend who typically eats very little to begin with and who is not a picky eater complained about the food quality and portion sizes. Her 7 and 9 year old boys also complained and I need to order two (2) more orders of Dumplings and a Side of Rice for them to be satisfied. Do not waste your time or money ion Aroi Thai. You can find better quality food and portions at a low end Chinese food store font operation. read more

On our way back, we decided to stop by Rhinebeck and came across this Thai place. This place is situated right next to Cinnamon Indian cuisine and a falafel place across the street. So needless to say, there are tons of food joints. This place has a lunch menu and quite affordable. I had the green curry with chicken and jasmine rice for $12 and no complaints there. Just the right heat level. My wife and son each got the pad see ew wide flat rice noodle with chicken $12 and shrimp respectively $14. Their dishes were just meh. The noodles are a bit clumpy and left to be desired. For starter, we tried the shishito pepper with shrimp skewers for $12 and was delicious. All in all, the portion for lunch was decent for the price paid. The food itself was both a hit or miss. For today's visit, we will give it 3 stars. read more

We have been going to Aroi for a few years now and the food has been not bad. The tofu soup is a favorite of mine and we generally order Pad Tai with chicken. Today, we had Pad Tai with shrimp and chicken dumplings. Both arrived cold. Today was a disappointment, the Pad Tai was greasy, the tofu in the dish was burnt and a general taste of something left over. The restaurant is often noisy and the tables are close proximity to others, and hard to avoid overhearing other conversations. We are likely not going to be returning. read more
