Chicken Lo Mein Combo Special

I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express Downtown Denver and needed food delivered to my location. I stumbled upon this restaurant online and decided to order; I had difficulty navigating the website so I called and placed the order instead. They were quick with the order and called me, notifying me that they were downstairs. The meal was warm and I loved the price; however, it tasted mediocre. My friend ordered chicken and brocolli and said it tasted delicious; perhaps steer clear of the lo mein and order other dishes instead.

The closest thing I've found to a NY Chinese take out spot. There are no tables to eat inside so it truly is a take out only spot. Highly recommend ordering online or on the phone before hand as they get pretty busy. Food is good and reminds me of what I'd expect back east (except the wonton soup that's nothing like back home).

ordered a small pepper steak and shrimp meal. ,,wontons

the container had 6 shrimp , no pepper steak, container full of vegetables. with no meat but the shrimp,,, the wontons fried in dirty oil.

TAKE OUT ONLY! This place is excellent when you're craving Chinese takeout food!!! Yes, it looks like total shart inside and you don't eat inside, and that's fine. These people are hardworking every time I step foot in the door. Busy as hell because their food is freaking good! I grew up eating egg foo young at the local strip mall my mom would take me to as a kid. Many Chinese places don't offer egg foo young at all! Or if they do, it's crap, but the egg foo young here definitely satisfies my craving that I remember from childhood. It's that gravy that makes the dish yum to the yum. It's always been served on the side but not here for some odd reason. I recommend asking for the sauce on the side and they'll charge you something small for it (which is weird, must be some reason on their end) but it's worth it, I think. The hot and sour soup is also very good! Get the bigger tub, it warms up great for another day! Of all the orders I've made here, I don't know the count, 10+ I suppose, I've never been disappointed in anything. It's all been very good or better than I've had at other Chinese takeout places. Most recently I tried the sesame tofu to go along with my moo goo gai pan. Both were delicious! But again, I recommend the sauce on the side for the tofu. I hadn't ordered the dish before here so didn't realize there'd be sauce ON the fried tofu. And lots of it! Holy shite! Again, like with the egg foo young, it's usually on the side for dipping & controlling the amount as the eater would like. Sesame tofu here was definitely drenched and swimming in the sauce. I don't understand why they keep doing this. However, it's also freaking delicious sauce! It's sweet & it's spicy! Judge a place for what it is. This is takeout. These people work their butts off. The food is very good. They get orders made in usually 15 minutes every time I've called and arrived to pickup. I tip them every time. Even a couple of bucks gives them some appreciation for all the yummy food they pump outta here daily. Definitely my all time fave Chinese takeout thus far! And I can't imagine what they have to deal with being on Colfax. It's not the easiest strip of the street to be on everyday.

I should have given them a 5 to begin with. The food is fast and yummy. I'll go back every time I'm in the neighborhood.

Solid Americanized Chinese food. Good hot and sour soup. Will not give you utensils unless you ask, was frustrating in a hotel.

Best takeout Chinese food in Denver, take out only. No ambiance or vibes but they don't need it because it's fast and good!

This is my family & I 2nd time here in Denver and after finding this place the 1st visit we make it a point to come to this location. We're located in Georgia so I think we have a good sense of good Chinese. I always get the Mongolian beef with fried rice (no egg; I'm allergic) My husband always gets the General Tso chicken with the fried rice and he ALWAYS orders this and never has a complaint. My son gets the Sesames chicken also with fried rice and it's sweet and crunchy as they fry the chicken to mix in their sauce and it's worth every penny. Every time! Service sometimes can be short in communication but expected especially when they're working all day and don't have time to eat but their food never misses! It's never crowded or busy when we come no matter the time of day, never noisy always sit at a booth. I highly recommend this place I will always come here when visiting Denv

I am so glad that they are so consistent and have not changed recipes or adjusted seasonings. Ordered our two favorites - pickled pepper beef and mapo tofu. Then the string beans and a new dish - sauerkraut fish filet. The sauerkraut fish filet reminded me of the Vietnamese catfish soup but no sweetness added. Very good dish and will def order again. Also love that they have quality rice here.

We ordered the fried tofu (with peppers and onions), orange chicken, fried fish fillet, and veggie delight (mixed veggies). The fried fish fillet was definitely the standout. Perfectly crispy on the outside with a light, tangy layer of sauce that added flavor without making it soggy. Easily my favorite dish of the meal. The fried tofu was also really solid and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The peppers and onions complemented it well without overpowering the tofu itself. The orange chicken was okay. I tend to compare orange chicken to Panda Express (probably unfair, but it's my benchmark), and this one didn't quite hit that same balance of crispiness and sauce. I think if it had a bit more meat within each piece, would be better. The mixed vegetables were decent but not something I'd order again. They felt a bit drenched in sauce and didn't have much depth in flavor. One of the highlights of the visit was meeting an elderly woman who helps out when it gets busy. She mentioned she was the former owner. She was incredibly kind, and we ended up having a really nice conversation in Mandarin. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable. Otherwise, really nice venue with lots of space and tables. Waiters always refilled my water, which is a good plus. Also gave me fresh rice when I took the leftovers to go. Overall, a solid meal with a couple standout dishes. I'd definitely come back for the fried fish fillet and tofu. Will be back to try their other dishes.

Service was quick to take the order, refill water and clear out empty plates/steamer baskest. The dishes coming out of the kitchen was at a more erratic pace, but it's all about the food. Mapo tofu was good, with a light slick of chili oil. The flavors were spot on with little chunks of fermented salted broad beans. The heat was also moderate, but it did have a kick as you were eating it. That signature mala numbing spiciness started building, but not hot enough for my palate. Green beans were also nice and tender. Sometimes when they come out the fryer, the skin can be a little leathery, but wasn't present here. BBQ Buns were very soft and tender, loaded with BBQ pork. The shao mai had a nice bouncy texture and cooked well. Shrimp Lo Mein had the flavors of the Chinese American classic, it looks like the noodles were hand made too. Only miss was the shrimp dumplings. They were too close to each other and they stuck together. The wrapper was also overcooked, but somehow the shrimp was not. Nearly impossible to pickup with chopsticks, because the wrapped just fell apart, even with a delicate touch. Worth a stop and probably tastiest Chinese food in the neighborhood. It was getting crowded and there was a wait by the time we left. However it was Denver restaurant week, so not sure how it usually is during the week.

The chicken soup dumplings, pork potstickers, and the ice cream was all very good! I wasn't such a huge fan of the tufu pork belly noodles. Lately it feels like a lot of restaurants are charging more while giving less, and it's getting harder to find places that actually care about the customer experience. Unfortunately, this was another one of those experiences. We ordered three side dishes and three drinks, and the bill came out to around $100. Two of the three sides were served cold, the dumplings at least came out hot, but they were pretty mediocre and nothing I'd order again and drinks were extremely over priced. The waitress was fine, no real issues there, but it did feel like the food may have been sitting in the kitchen too long before it hit the table even though the place was empty. At the end of the day, it's hard to justify paying that kind of money for cold, underwhelming food, then feeling awkward about the tip because the experience just wasn't good. I won't be back. If I had known this is what the experience was I would have definitely gone somewhere else. As an added bonus I felt like crap afterwords, I think it was because of poor quality ingredients. My aim in writing these reviews is to highlight the restaurants and businesses that truly take care of their customers, to give people a heads up about the ones that clearly do not prioritize quality or the customer experience, and to express myself in a world where it often feels like there is very little room to speak honestly about paying top dollar for mediocre experiences. Very disappointing.
