I first saw GrassPal at a booth at the Alameda County Fair and was impressed at the quality of their samples. When I was told the price was only $7.99 per square foot I immediately set up an appointment to get my yard measured. Pankaj came out the following week all the way from Livermore to my house in Daly City. He explained the process very thoroughly and emailed me a quote that same night and was quite satisfied with the cost. Installation was a few days later and was very professional. It was only a two day process and we barely knew the crew was there because they were very quiet and very polite and cleaned up any mess they did. We went with GrassPal about 2 years ago and has 1,750 sq ft of artificial turf installed in our backyard. This was over $11,000 with a 10 year warranty. We have a contract stating GrassPal provided a 10 year warranty on any defects with the grass. After only 2 years we are noticing numerous bald spots and the grass falling apart. I contacted grasspal numerous times and their reply is "we are not responsible for it". The state they purchased the company a year ago and will not honor the contract of the 10 year warranty making them in breach of contract. We now have to move forward in a legal proceeding to have it corrected even though we have a contract stating Grasspal certified our project with a 10 year warranty. I used Grasspal for both my front and back lawns. I'm very happy with the way the grass looks. I also found the price to be competitive and scheduling to be easy. The reason for taking away a star is that I had an issue post installation with two sprinklers that were under the grass and hadn't been capped. Unfortunately I found out about this because I needed to use the sprinkler line for another part of the yard and this resulted in two sinkholes once I turned on the water. I called Pankaj and he explained that there should not be water running below the grass and this was spelled out in the agreement. Unfortunately I missed this and assumed that the sprinklers would be capped as another company I spoke with said they do this. Grasspal says they cap the valve if the owner requests this but not the sprinkler heads. Pankaj gave me a quote to come out and fix the grass but I went with someone else who fixed it as well as capping the sprinklers. So, definitely my bad for not reading the contract more closely, but I would have appreciated at least a heads up that I had a connected sprinkler system with uncapped sprinklers beneath the grass. I'd still recommend them however. read more

I had an awful experience and do not recommend GrassPal, Pankaj or Sonali. They were very nice and attentive while trying to sell me on their product. I paid about $17,000 for a front yard installation. Not a small sum. All of their seams were very noticeable. But to make things worse, they installed multiple small triangular patches right in front leaving a patchwork appearance. I told them it looked bad, but Pankaj said I had to pay the full contract price before they would honor any warranty and threatened collections. So I paid. Then, GrassPal and Pankaj refused to fix it. They said their contract says seams are not 100% invisible. Boy is that right! I've had other installers look at the installation, and they all say it's bad. They ask me, "Won't GrassPal honor their warranty?" My only recourse now is to sue them in court. Pick a company that stands behind their product, not GrassPal. read more

Wow! was the first word I could think of on seeing GrassPal's work on my project. In fact I was speechless first before I could get to wow. We wanted to dip our toes into replacing our sad lawns ("brown is the new green" got old) and we got our front yard lawn replaced with turf.. Conscientious CA citizen that I am, just didn't have the heart to water our lawn with the ongoing drought.. how do some neighbors do it? but I digress.. I looked at big box options but nothing came close to the samples Pankaj from Grasspal showed me. We had a little challenge of an HOA to deal with. So I submitted samples and the HOA architecture application to our Gale Ranch HOA in San Ramon. Our HOA had laid out some guidelines and these samples exceeded all of the standards. Needed a lot of specs for the HOA application and Pankaj was super responsive with getting me the info. Our HOA got back to me pretty fast with a speedy approval. I let Pankaj know and he said he will schedule at the earliest possible date. Within a day or two he texted me saying his crew got done early on some other job so they could do our project the next day. We were excited and I gave them the green light. The crew came and did a thoroughly professional job. We could not believe how clean and quiet their work was. I deliberately didn't watch the crew doing the project as I wanted to see the transformation from before to after in one view.. And boy was I rewarded. We could not be happier.. It looks amazing. Kids are having fun watching neighbors stopping and looking longingly at our strikingly beautiful lawn. We are so happy with the results of our toe dipping into artificial turf that we have decided to do our much bigger backyard as well. Can't wait to see those results.. Grasspal's sales process is not pushy at all. They have got transparent pricing ($7.99/sqft). And best of all they let their grass samples do all the talking.. And their work product does the selling for them. I don't think I have been more impressed by any other service or project in my years of being a homeowner. Do not use this company if you have an existing yard. New construction I don't know. The product itself is good, however we have had issues with the way the grass was installed and have had weeds around the edges. They told me to get rid of the weeds and they would come out. Well it was whack-a-mole with the weeds. Eventually it was ready for service and I contacted them (Pankaj, Sonali and from the web page). I have not had a return email or phone call. The turf is coming up where the weeds have pushed through. We are still under warranty!!! It has now been over a year of trying to get this problem taken care of! Additionally the layout is not even, there have become lower areas in the turf with it isn't due to anything being on the area. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this company! read more

I was fortunate to have found GrassPal a few weeks before we were scheduled to get artificial turf installed from another landscaper. Pankaj showed me his turf samples and the quality was far superior and price was much more competitive than quotes from other contractors who bid on the job. The reasonable pricing comes from an innovative installation technique that they developed, not from cutting corners. Even though the company is young, they seemed to have done enough homework before starting the business. Unlike other vendors, who had a "take it or leave it" attitude after providing a quote, they followed up professionally on our questions and requests to modify the shape of the lawn area a little bit. These guys were awesome...the price is fixed depending on the lawn type...we chose the longer lawn and the fixed price covers *everything* prep, installation, lawn itself etc. We did 1000 sq ft and they did it in 3 days. Awful post install service. the one star reviews are on point. The owner PRAKAJ has no class and no responsibility for the service. The install is sloppy and the communication is not existent. Will never use or recommend these guys. My grass was melted by the SUN and I reported this issue within 1 week of install. First thing they do is say, tough luck not covered by warranty see fine print in contract. Good service would be during installation or consultation, hey, i noticed you have windows in back yard, that could be a potential problem. Don't try to save a few dollars and go with these crooks, choose something in 9-10 dollar range and get the job done right. Also, they are 8/ per sqft because they cheap out on the labor. Instead if actually digging 3 inches, removing the dirt and filling multiple layers of substrate to ensure a level and tough surface that will last you years. They use some "special technique"- basically just tilling and compacting the dirt. I ended up with an un-level surface. When i tried to put an above surface intex pool on it, the water leans to one side. read more

Initially I was hesitant and didn't think it was worth the investment since it is expensive but I am now mad I didn't do it sooner!! This review is only on the level of customer service as I cannot comment on work done. We called made an appt. A few hours ahead of the actual appt I received a call that due to the freeway being shut down it would be best to reschedule. So the appt was moved to the following morning @ 9am. When no one showed by 9:20 I called the number that had pushed the appt out and left a vmail - no callback. Later that day I called the office number and left a vmail explaining what happened and asked for a call back. One week later and still no call back. Poor service. read more

I was looking for grass alternative from water conservation perspective and gopher related issues in our backyard. Last year, got quotes from few artificial turf installers and all of them quoted a high price which seems like that they don't want to work on the project as its not a big lawn. Anyhow, started looking again few weeks back and got to see GrassPal samples. The samples we saw appears to be very good quality and it was hard to tell from look and feel that its a real grass or not? Then during quote step, got to know about their proprietary way of attaching turf to the ground and clean flushed edges around curved corners (this was important for me because of shape of our lawn). We decided to go with them and was given installation date of next week if weather permits. Unfortunately, it was raining most of that week and understandably installation date needs to be pushed out. The good part was that Pankaj kept us updated during the whole process and installation happened in estimated time without any issue. The crew doing the actual installation was courteous and professional. I really liked the finished look of lawn and now need to sell my lawn mowing tools..Any buyers :-) I will strongly recommend GrassPal to friends and family based on the whole installation experience and of course their super competitive price for such a good product. read more

I would have given them 5 stars except that the shape did not follow the plans that I gave him. I became interested in the idea of artificial turf for a small area in my backyard when I decided to get a puppy. Our backyard is almost completely shaded by a huge magnolia tree, and nothing much grows back there. I checked out some providers closer to me on the San Francisco peninsula, but was astonished at the pricing, particularly given the small area I had in mind. I checked out GrassPal thinking I'd look at one more vendor before just forgetting the whole idea. To my surprise, GrassPal came in a good 40% lower in cost than other vendors, and I really liked their no-nonsense approach. They were able to get me on their schedule quickly - which was another issue with other vendors, who were telling me they needed a six-week lead time. Their installers showed up on time and were very efficient in their work, including their clean up. Also, they cut several extra pieces of turf to size for me for a caged litter area for my cats. My puppy arrived about a week later, and immediately took to the turf. Though honestly, it's so nice that we have taken to just hanging out on it and taking the puppy to other dirt spots in the yard to potty! We are looking forward to hanging our hammock from the magnolia tree over the turf this summer. One more important point for other dog owners - I had heard that sometimes artificial turf used as a dog area can have odor issues. GrassPal assured me that a proper install would eliminate that issue, and that's turned out to be the case. I'd recommend GrassPal to anyone looking to install artificial turf. read more
