We came to Grasso's for Long Island Restaurant Week and had a wonderful dinner! While the special menu had limited options, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The 3-course prix fixe ($42) included an appetizer, entrée, and dessert -- such a great deal. I started with the butternut squash soup, which was creamy, flavorful, and the perfect start before my entrée. My husband had the oysters with pesto and really enjoyed them. For our main course, we both ordered the branzino, which was cooked to perfection and served with white rice and vegetables -- light, fresh, and full of flavor. Our friends ordered the braised ribs and cod, and they couldn't stop raving about their dishes either. To top it off, the service was excellent -- our waitress was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. They also had live music (which they usually do on Thursday nights), and the band was fantastic! It added such a nice vibe to the night and complemented the great food and atmosphere. Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. They were able to seat us with no reservation which was awesome. The red sangria was delicious and strong and they had a live piano player inside. They served warm bread with butter and a delicious olive oil to start. I ordered the Rigatoni Pomodoro it was delicious with burrata on top and and eggplant chunks. Living in NYC, there's an Italian spot on just about every corner. Still, it's become harder and harder to find ones with food that is truly memorable. Even more so, where service is treated as it should be -- an art -- the art of hospitality. Which is why discovering Grasso's, in the LI suburb of cold spring harbor, was such a delightful surprise. Let's start with ambiance. A perfect blend between old school Italian and upscale vibes. The live music added some extra energy that was very enjoyable. Solid as the ambiance is though, it's not what you come here for. Let's move on to the food. The menu is big with a lot of diversity. And everything was really good. We started with pasta w/ shrimp and lobster appetizer which was a 10. Grilled octopus was also really delicious. For entrees, we had everything from chicken parm which was top notch to the halibut special which was prepared perfectly to the veal chop which was also excellent. As it was explained to us, Chef Tony takes great pride in his food and you could tell with each bite. Excellent all around. But we save the best for last. The service. Most notably, Brian, the ever-affable host with the most. If ever there was a guy who was truly born for hospitality, it's him. Simply put, his nature is to make others feel good when they're in his restaurant and he goes out of his way to make it happen. My wife is as indecisive about her food ordering as they come. She asks every waiter 100 questions about the menu, to the point most get impatient. Not Brian, he loved talking through the menu. And when she couldn't decide to go with the fish or the lamb chop, he said to trust him. Little did we know he worked with Chef Tony to do a split plate -- half fish half lamb chops. What other restaurant would ever do this?! Such care, such effort to please a customer. It's a lost art these days and going to Grasso's was such a welcome reminder of how far good hospitality can go. For the grand finale, Brians dad Tony joined him for a table-side duet preparation of bananas foster. The father and son joked as they cooked up a world class dessert. I drive by Grasso's all the time, but had never tried it. I saw it was on restaurant week, the menu looked good so I was all in. The restaurant is lovely on top of a hill on 25A, fairly busy for a Tuesday night and had a live singer. Margaritas were also on the restaurant week special for $10 so my friend and I both had one and we enjoyed them. For appetizer, I had the mango crab cake which was excellent and my friend had the butternut apple squash soup which she enjoyed. For an entree I had the stuffed pork loin, it was okay- very sweet and honestly tasted like waffles. I know that sounds crazy but even my friend tried it and said the same thing- maybe there was excessive maple syrup? Who knows. Still good, but probably wouldn't get again. My friend had the short ribs which were great. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was good, it was a lighter tiramisu without that heavy alcohol taste, and my friend had the apple crumble which she enjoyed. One of the best meals we've had in a long time! My girlfriend's step mother had been raving about the halibut saying it was the best she's ever had so this had been on our list of places to try for a while. Such a beautiful quaint town. Although i passed this restaurant many times i never stopped in until recently after a hike with my BFF. There is a nice size bar and different sitting areas . The decor is warm and cozy . Al fresco dining available as well . Our server welcomed us and was well versed in both food and drink . We started with both beautiful and well made Bloody Mary's . My wife and I came here for a nice night out. It is a little pricy, but that is what would be expected for such a place. It was lovely inside and the staff was fantastic. I had oysters for an appetizer, which were fresh. That is always a concern. For dinner, I had the porkchop. It was delicious and really incorporated several flavors with the cabbage and the crisp potatoes. I would definitely have it again. We finished with a coconut cake that was fantastic. Amazing experience on a Saturday night. They put us front and center for the live pianist who was absolutely phenomenal. This is our new favorite spot in CSH without a doubt! The restaurant is a ramp up off the street in the quaint town of Cold Spring Harbor. They provide street side outdoor terrace tables dining. Their dining room is divided into two rooms, with one room where the bar resides along with the band which is performing nightly: mostly incredibly talented jazz bands. I have been dining at this restaurant for many years and always had a good dining experience. The service is excellent, and my favorite's entrees have been always their seafood specials. This time I had the Tuna with a nice bottle of wine. On all of visits, the meal experience has been delicious high-quality plates, magnificent selection of wines and exceptional quality service. Visited Grasso's after about 7 years Food is still pretty good, large portions and extremely high prices. I started with Oysters that the schucker should never have served. Blue Point $22.50 (6) the Oysters looked like the part stuck in the shell after the Oyster was cut out. They were served the way they should but you don't eat the shell. My family and I dined here for an early 5pm dinner on a rainy/snowy Sunday. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we were thoroughly able to enjoy the great service and excellent food. At 6pm, they started with wonderful live music consisting of a singer and a piano player. We forewent the delicious sounding appetizers and went straight for our main courses. I ordered the duck dish ($35). The duck was quite a large portion and served under quite a bit of a sweet dark colored sauce- cherry brandy sauce. Additionally, the duck was served with a few boiled vegetables and a little bit of mashed butternut squash and wild rice. It was quite enjoyable and I finished satiated. Other dishes that we ordered were: a special halibut dish described as flavorful and finely prepared (picture attached); zucchini linguine; and organic chicken breast. We ordered several dessert dishes: tiramisu, banana foster, warm white chocolate bread pudding. The banana foster was prepared in front of us on a roll out stove. When reviewing a restaurant the question comes up "Is this place romantic?" Highly subjective of course different definitions for different people. One persons romantic might be another's schlock plastic roses on the table. I guess you could judge it by the outcome of the date. Romantic embraces or separate Uber cars home. I concluded that for me Grasso's is romantic. Located in the quaint town of Cold Spring Harbor it is just a couple of blocks away from the harbor park for a nice pre or post meal stroll. The interior of the restaurant is dark enough but not too dark so you don't have to worry about an embarrassing stumble. Quiet enough to hear tablemates conversations and the live music playing in the background. Music was very Frank Sinatra so by definition romantic. The food which you can see, smell, taste and feel was spectacular as was the service. Many a romantic evening has been ruined by poor food and service. Not at Grasso's.
