Buffet ($16)
Rachel S.

This hidden gem (literally tucked in the back of the food court in a Chinese supermarket) has such a good buffet for only $16 every third Sunday of the month! My family and I went to try the buffet, and there were 10 dishes available with plenty of sauces and toppings too. There were two soups, lo mein, rice, and an assortment of veggies with vegan meat and fried foods as well. So worth the price! The soups weren't liked by the group and were a bit sour, while the spring rolls specifically didn't seem fresh, but everything else tasted great, particularly the vegetables and meats. You can also get tupperware for takeout (containers for soup, appetizer, and entree) for the same price. The staff were very friendly and attentive at making sure foods were restocked. There was plenty of seating available!

I sought this place out of convenience as it was walkable from my other destination. It's in a food hall, and ordering was confusing. They made it seem like they weren't providing service and you had to order online, but when I did they told me I could have ordered in person. The food hall was a tad sketch, not the cleanest, so I was happy to move on. The hot pot dish I got had a zingy flavor with abundant lemongrass and I enjoyed it, but it didn't come with rice. Given the lack of ambiance and service, the value of money for food was not what I'd hoped. You can definitely get some interesting vegetarian cuisine here if you're willing to live with the limitations.

Wow hidden gem for sure. Food was great! Super reasonable price too. Eat in and you'll be served tea and all the sauces your heart wishes. The fried mushroom wontons (?) were super delicious, and the vermicelli hand rolls were deliciously fresh. Service is super accommodating and atmosphere is that of a mall.

Grasshopper is a solid choice, but not necessarily one I would choose again soon. It is located inside the Super 88 Food Court, which doesn't have the best decor or vibes. My partner and I ordered and split the house lo mein and the sweet and sour tofu chicken fingers. Starting with what they did well: I really liked the "beef" on the lo mein, my partner liked the "shrimp," and I thought the vegetables and the sweet and sour sauce were perfect. To me, though, the tofu chicken fingers had WAY too much breading and ended up tasting more like fried dough with a tiny nugget of tofu inside. Additionally, I felt like the lo mein did not have enough seasoning. The portions are large, so you do get good value. The person who took our order was attentive and the food came out quickly. Not my favorite but I can see it being a good choice for quick vegetarian eats if you're in the area.

So sad that they're closing at the end of May! They've been open for 27 years, and all my vegan friends love the place. The portions are big, the prices are very reasonable, and the flavors are good. For reference, I went with a party of 7, and the bill came to $100 before tip, with two boxes of leftovers. PSA: It's the kind of vegan place where a lot of the dishes are named after the meat/fish options that they're inspired by (e.g., lobster, seafood, chicken, beef). But I don't think the taste is meaty or fishy at all for most dishes. The one thing that is slightly interesting and closer to the original is the "shrimp": It resists a bit, just like shrimp, and it's striped.

Grasshopper is back! So very happy to be able to enjoy fantastic vegan Chinese food. The new location is inside the 88 market food court. There are many choices however Grasshopper is the best!

Reviews are generally positive. Many highlight the flavorful vegan food, creative mock meats, and friendly, attentive service. Pricing is seen as good value for portions.

A small space inside an old arcade building, Ganko is always packed so come during an off time…read more We visited at 2:30pm on a Thursday and saw that only a few tables were taken up. There were plenty of other open tables and no one else around. I came early and tried to get a table first for my party of 3 but was turned away saying the whole party needed to be there. Completely understandable if the restaurant was packed and there were people waiting. The person I spoke to was also a bit dismissive so I ended up just waiting around for my party to arrive. We did get a table after another person in my party arrived and spoke to another staff who made it a point to say they don't usually do this and acted like it was a favor to us(?). We appreciated the gesture especially since we were one of 3 parties in the whole restaurant so they really went out of their way to accommodate us - how nice. The karaage came in 4 big pieces so I'd recommend ordering more if you're sharing. The shoyu ramen was extremely rich and fatty. Texture of noodles were great but soup was a bit too fatty and greasy for my liking. Food was okay and service could definitely use a lot of improvements.
