Great food. Service can be improved significantly. Food came out quickly. It is very cold in the restaurant. The ordering system is very impersonal.

Awesome food and service at Ginger Exchange! I ordered the Veggie Sushi combo platter which was delicious and had a great variety of sushi. The menu is super varied with lots of great options. Scorpion bowls are also an awesome drink! The reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the atmosphere was a little strange. I went at 6pm on a Friday night and was one of the only tables there, so it felt a little strange of an environment. It was super quiet and my friends and I felt very loud talking at a normal level.

    Avocado-Salmon Sushi & Buns

Food: Good variety of food offered! I got their salmon-avocado sushi and bao buns, two of my favorite Asian dishes in general, and they were not bad. However, I wouldn't say they're amazing or anything outstanding. I think I preferred the sushi over the buns (you can't really go wrong with salmon-avocado lol), but the buns were missing protein. Got this for takeout when I was at NEU during a snowy day. Location: Honestly the Northeastern area is one of the best areas in town #neualum4life - it's super near Back Bay/prudential center so you can walk their after your meal. No outdoor seating is offered but every time I walked past this restaurant was pretty packed with different demographics.

I've gotten takeout here a few times especially during this pandemic. The garlic soy wings are so crispy and good and a great size . They're Korean style so you can't go wrong. I also had to their short ribs on rice that comes w a red picked cabbage. It was delicious and the meat tasted like the best teriyaki or korean bbq sauce ever. I definitely would order here again.

A nice addition to the Brigham circle restaurant scene! Ginger Exchange replaced the old Mission Sushi at this location. After a complete renovation of the space and the menu, this restaurant has brought a modern and classy vibe to the area. The decor is well done, with loungey bench seating along the walls and tables lining the perimeter of the space. The atmosphere is relaxing and a nice break from the busy Longwood medical area. One downside is that the bench seating is higher than the chairs so half of your party will be at an awkwardly high level compared to the other half. Not a problem if you are vertically challenged but your dining partner is tall! The menu has been redesigned to be more bowl-focused but also has the same sushi specials and offerings from Mission Sushi. I've come here 2 times and ordered takeout multiple times. Some of the best items I've gotten were the Crab Rangoons and the Vietnamese coffee. Although there were only 6 small rangoons, they were delicious! The Vietnamese iced coffee was not too sweet and had a very strong and rich coffee flavor that is unlike the standard Starbucks flavor. It's almost like Nescafé but more of a kick. Items that I've tried that were pretty good were the spicy California roll, shrimp tempura roll, sweet potato roll, sweet garlic udon noodles. These were all fine, nothing to write home about. One item that I did not enjoy was the Korean loaded fries. There was too much cheese (never thought I'd say that!) and it was very heavy. The fries themselves were just okay. The flavors were interesting with kimchi and cheese but it was just too much as an appetizer split between 2 people. The place is usually not crowded and you can get a table if you just walk in with no to minimal wait. Service is prompt. If you are ever in the Brigham circle area and craving Asian food, I would recommend Ginger Exchange!

This is the fourth Ginger Exchange location in and around the Boston area. Upon first impression, the new location is clean and well decorated. Staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is expansive and includes sushi, rice bowls, noodles, and much more! They also serve alcohol and cocktail prices were under $10! I had the Great Gatsby sushi roll and my boyfriend ordered the Korean beef rice bowl. We both agreed the food was mediocre but worth coming back for. While there are other choices for Asian in Mission Hill, this is a great addition because of the price point, large menu, and fun drinks. Needless to say, I'm very excited that Ginger Exchange is now in my hood!

The restaurant shares an entryway with an apartment rental realty business, which is already a bit weird from the point of view of atmosphere. I almost missed the door to the restaurant because it's in a corner, and there were several delivery boxes of takeout containers waiting to be taken in, almost blocking the doorway. If I had been in a wheelchair, I wouldn't have been able to get through the door. I mentioned this to the front desk staff and the boxes were gone before I left. My plan was to eat at the bar. It turned out that there was a large party hanging out at the bar before sitting down at the large central table, so the only room for me was at the very edge of the bar. However, the bartender was nice and got me a menu, and they did eventually sit down so I got a little more space. My cocktail (pomegranate old-fashioned) was excellent. So was my turmeric tandoori salmon. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, which was very reasonably priced for Brookline. I was not thrilled by the cardamom chocolate tart: the chocolate was liquid, inside a stale-tasting shell. Overall, it has potential and I'll probably come back. I'll call in advance to ask about large parties, and I'll avoid the chocolate tart unless I'm assured that it's changed.

There was a great singer, pianist, and sax player to really set the mood. They were super fun, especially when a couple got engaged! To start, I got their ginger martini and while my friend went with a Do-er neat (not a whiskey drinker myself, lol). He tried to order 2 of their beers but they were out of both. My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.

It's $50 for the regular AYCE or $80 for the Premium AYCE. We opted for the former, and it was plenty great. We have done lots of AYCE sushi and I will say this is the BEST of them - I think it's because it's the same grade sushi as they would normally do Ala carte on other nights. The $50 menu had plenty of sashimi and regular nigiri (sushi with rice) options and some Thai too. We had mostly the sashimi Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Octopus, a few rolls, some edamame, gyoza, shumai. My favorites were the salmon, as the cuts were large, thick and amazing silky, and the gyoza, as it was perfectly crispy. The Pad Thai was bit way too sweet for my taste - a skip for me next time. The decor is very nice - reminded me of a dive Tokyo bar. Service was quick and very attentive. We will be back!

You have a choice between a standard menu of items for $40 or a premium menu (includes standard) for $80. The $40 AYCE menu is pretty awesome. Alot of sushi and Thai options. Good selection of nigiri or sashimi. The basics of salmon, tuna, shrimp and all of your standard sushi options. Also includes various sushi rolls. You can get appetizers like gyoza and edamame even. . This menu also has Thai dishes like pad thai Of course had to try the premium which includes Otoro, uni and wagyu as the highlights. There are some upgraded appetizers and rolls also in this menu. Unfortunately, but understandably, uni is limited to 4 per person. No limits on the other items. The otoro and uni were excellent. Same for the wagyu and salmon. Mixed in some pieces of sweet shrimp, scallop, lean tuna and more just to round out the meal. I ate 40 pieces of sushi. Which more or less is $2.50 per piece after including a tip and tax. Was it worth it? I can probably say the for $80 you can get a ton of great sushi. They definitely don't downgrade the quality for the deal. Could I do this weekly? Probably not. I left so full. The $80 menu kind of compelled me to order more than I might eat normally. The$40 meal includes dishes like pad thai anyway so I think i could go back and do a sushi pregame and finish with some Thai food. That $40 is definitely worth it. Anyway, you should try this deal once before it goes. I don't think it's permanent. $80 for the premium is only worth it if you love Uni and otoro. Service was great. The inside was busy. The deal is popular. The inside of the place is warm and inviting even while packed.

Yet another Brookline restaurant I regret not trying sooner!…read more This past weekend I stopped in for a quick solo lunch around 1:30. I happened to be the only one in there, but could tell the staff was working on some online or takeout orders. I was nicely greeted and shown to a seat. After giving me water they took my order. I got the crab wontons, their take on crab rangoons, as well as three different rolls (yes my eyes are bigger than my stomach). I went with the eel avocado roll as well as the spicy tuna and yellowtail rolls. I was REALLY impressed by the quality of all the food. I was given the wontons first and they were perfectly crispy and filled. I dislike when the ratio of filling to wonton is too heavy on the filling side and things get messy. They were also SUPER hot which is a personal must. My only qualm is I would've loved a bit more sauce, there were a lot of wontons for that small dish of sweet chili sauce. In terms of the sushi I surprisingly loved the spicy yellowtail the best. Normally the other 2 are my favorite but I might've found a new go-to. The others were great as well, though. You could seriously tell the tuna was JUST cut from the fish (I watched the sushi chef do so!). Notably, the ratio on the eel-avocado roll was great as well as the amount of eel sauce. No need to pay for extra on the side! I will most definitely be ordering or dining in from here soon, this time bringing friends along!
