During COVID, places have been very limited but i'm glad i found this place. If you want to help small businesses with great and fast service and good quality food, here is a good place to start. I suggest just ordering directly with them without using a third party... cuz you know dang well they be taking a big cut from their services. I'm glad i tried this place despite some of the bad reviews. Cheap eats and quality food... what do you expect? Some fine dine up to par service? Just know that , all the veggies are crunchy and fresh and everything is clean and individually packaged. They even read my little notes i wrote, (since i'm sometimes extra) and hooked them all up. Even upon delivery, they dropped it off in front of my building but waited until I came and picked it up. Happily waved. Will order again.

Hong Kong Cafe II is cream of the crop Americanized Chinese food and sometimes, that's just exactly what you need. It certainly was what The Boy and I needed when we were trapped in our apartment during a classic New England snowstorm...and bottles of wine were consumed. I dialed quite a few places that were listed as open on GrubHub before finding one that was actually open. Some caveats? The language barrier of having to order over the phone. Stick to the app if you can. I tried to order Beef Noodle Soup which was listed on GrubHub and they said they only had Chicken so I got that instead. The Boy got Garlic Noodles. This ended up being the best greasy Chinese of our lives AND it was ridiculously affordable. Per the photo, I received a TALL takeout container of chicken noodle soup (lo mein noodles) with the perfect fake chicken broth taste and a large order of garlic noodles (which could have truthfully used more salt/soy sauce) for the sum total of something like $11-$13! Compared to other Americanized Chinese takeout places in Boston, sometimes an order of 6 dumplings cost $7-9 itself. Having now moved to Brookline, I will definitely be fulfilling my drunken Chinese food cravings from HKC2!

Regarding taste, the food was decent until I discovered a BUG in my food. I ordered through Grubhub and tried contacting the restaurant first to settle the issue. I spoke to about 3 people and tried to explain what the issue was. They continued to ask me what was wrong and said "your the only person today". It didn't make sense at all. and further more if I was actually the only person who ordered I'm disturbed because why don't you have more customers. I tried explaining for 4 minutes to no avail. I just ended up hanging up and contacting Grubhub customer service. I was refunded my money through GH. Below are pictures. It took me a sec to see that it was a big I had a appetizer and there was fried chicken and some other things so I thought it was that. On further view I saw the legs.

Hong Kong Cafe was GREAT! I had Chinese food that was very different than any other Chinese I've had. We ordered Tofu and Broccoli, Veggie Lo Mein, and chicken and broccoli. The tofu and broccoli was so delicious and something I haven't be able to order from all Chinese food restaurants. The Lo Mein was delicious and I would 100% order it again. I can't speak to the Chicken and Broccoli, but it was definitely enjoyed! I highly recommend Hong Kong Cafe for your Chinese food take out!

I loved the takeout here the couple times I've been. I get the beef chow fun, and it is really delicious. The noodles are nice and chewy, there is a good amount of vegetables, and overall quantity is good. Also, the food isn't overly greasy! This is my new go-to place for chow fun.

Some street parking nearby with parking meters. The menus were a cool design - the drink menus being a scroll and you could open up the food menu to display everything. Little dark inside and somewhat moderately loud music but not overly loud where you can't talk. My cousin and I ordered some cocktails - she added rum to a cocktail - Fascinate Lychee and I ordered the Pineapple Passion monthly drink. The Pineapple Passion was okay but the Lychee drink was very good with the rum. My husband ordered an herbal tea which was very good but bitter if you're not quite used to Chinese tea. The menu provided on the table differed slightly than the scanned menu QR Code. We ordered a variety of food and 2 bowls of rice ($3/bowl but plenty of rice). Small BBQ Lamb Ribs - very good and tender, pretty spicy from the seasoning and some chili paste I believe. Don't let these sit because it becomes a little less tender over time. BBQ Mini Abalone - one of my favorites and definitely recommend. Teriyaki Big Squid - also one of my favorites - cooked beautifully, absolutely delicious. Handmade Mini Pork Buns - Good number of small buns and dipping sauce with some juices inside - pretty good. BBQ Eel - definitely one of the top dishes we ordered. The seasoning and how it was cooked was very good, especially with some rice. Absolutely recommend this. Pork Sausage - one on a stick but this was also very good. Incredibly tender inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Beef with Yuzu Sauce - This was good but not a favorite - wish it was just a little more tender but medium slices to try and eat in one bite. BBQ Whole Scallop - covered with slices of mushroom I believe and then one scallop under it all - great flavor but not sure if it was worth the price (MP). Overall, good service, delicious food and a great time!

Really exciting place focused on Northwest Chinese cuisine…read more The signature dish, the hand-pulled beef noodle soup, had a fairly light, but subtle, flavor. The noodles themselves I wish were chewier (got the 'flat' but probably should have gone for 'extra wide'), and perhaps it'd been nice to have some different textures inside the soup (e.g. something crunchy). The scallions in the soup were also too wide, and needed to be sliced more thinly. The beef pancake was quite decent, though the edges didn't have enough beef and the middles had too much beef. The beef was tender, though I might have liked it more flaky. The sauce inside the pancake was somewhat unevenly applied, and a bit too sweet. I wonder if a dipping sauce (maybe a vinegar?) would have helped. The blueberry with mashed yams was fascinating. It was listed under appetizers, and wondered why the dish came out last. But the dish was a bit sweet (naturally!) and so it actually worked as a light modest dessert! The wait staff was spot on after all in putting out the dish last. The stir-fried cabbage dish was beautiful! It was appropriately crunch, yet using good wok hey. The salt level was a bit high, but the spice level was good. Their spice ratings were a bit timid to what I encounter in Szechuan restaurants (the 'regular' level seemed to be more 'mild-regular'). The stir-fried cumin potato was delicious; nicely flavored, nicely charred. Some bits were a bit oily but the cook on the potato was really neat. Will revisit!!!

We've ordered several of their noodle soups and noodle dishes with regular, thick, and wide noodles that have been fine but not great. I think the textures of their noodles across the board have been too soft, not chewy enough. We've tried some of their other dishes, which have been better: my fav is the cold okra appetizer. Also, the potato balls in the beef brisket with potato are a sleeper hit. Unfortunately, the dish was mostly beef and not potato haha unusual gripe. Service is normal, efficient, on the attentive side for a chinese place. Interior is nice and new and clean. After our second try, I'm not super pressed to come back, but if we're in the area, I might try some of their other non-noodle dishes!

They do AYCE From 11-4pm every day which is SO worth it for like $32! I can handle lots of spice and trust me you don't need more). Then you can order meats, veg, tofu, seafood, mushrooms, and noodles. Definitely get the hand pulled noodles! They "pull" the noodles right in front of you which is so fun. They also have a really nice sauce bar with tons of dipping options and also a few fruits and snacks. Overall, you must try this place! Second reason is, the quality of their meat selection is excellent. Literally tastes so fresh and clean. I love that it's thinly sliced, too. The waitress that was there and served us, she is amazing. Super friendly and helpful. We opted for the VIP selection because why not. For $40 a person, it's still not bad for the quality of food you get. I highly recommend it. Just check out my shortrib picture, you'll drool! The only reason I gave this review 4 out of 5 is because, there were not much seafood selection.

We eventually were able to get in, there is a small space to wait with snacks though. Once our table was almost ready the host allowed us to order and once sat it came almost right away. We ordered the la-xi chicken with less spice, this has small crispy chicken pieces and lot of peppers, had to go in and pick out the little pieces. Truthfully wish it was less pepper and more chicken especially $23.95. The mapo tofu was delicious the perfect numbing sensation that I love. A must try dish was the fish fillet with crispy rice. This was $34 but it is perfect for cold day. They bring this dish out pour the soup on top and let it boil until the crispy gets cooked. We got the green beans as well, pretty standard nothing special. We got a little discount as well, I think for a late night special. I made a reservation for 6 people One Month in advance (in fact, today is my birthday) expecting a comfortable dining setup for my group. However, upon arrival, we were squeezed into a table clearly designed for 4 people. When we pointed this out, the staff insisted it was a '6-person table' and refused to move us to the larger tables available, claiming those were reserved for 7-8 people. This is inconsistent and unprofessional, as we have been seated at those larger tables with a group of 6 before. What's the point of making a reservation so far in advance if the restaurant can't provide adequate seating? The lack of flexibility and the dismissive attitude of the staff ruined our evening. It's $50 for the regular AYCE or $80 for the Premium AYCE. We opted for the former, and it was plenty great. We have done lots of AYCE sushi and I will say this is the BEST of them - I think it's because it's the same grade sushi as they would normally do Ala carte on other nights. The $50 menu had plenty of sashimi and regular nigiri (sushi with rice) options and some Thai too. We had mostly the sashimi Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Octopus, a few rolls, some edamame, gyoza, shumai. My favorites were the salmon, as the cuts were large, thick and amazing silky, and the gyoza, as it was perfectly crispy. The Pad Thai was bit way too sweet for my taste - a skip for me next time. The decor is very nice - reminded me of a dive Tokyo bar. Service was quick and very attentive. We will be back!

You have a choice between a standard menu of items for $40 or a premium menu (includes standard) for $80. The $40 AYCE menu is pretty awesome. Alot of sushi and Thai options. Good selection of nigiri or sashimi. The basics of salmon, tuna, shrimp and all of your standard sushi options. Also includes various sushi rolls. You can get appetizers like gyoza and edamame even. . This menu also has Thai dishes like pad thai Of course had to try the premium which includes Otoro, uni and wagyu as the highlights. There are some upgraded appetizers and rolls also in this menu. Unfortunately, but understandably, uni is limited to 4 per person. No limits on the other items. The otoro and uni were excellent. Same for the wagyu and salmon. Mixed in some pieces of sweet shrimp, scallop, lean tuna and more just to round out the meal. I ate 40 pieces of sushi. Which more or less is $2.50 per piece after including a tip and tax. Was it worth it? I can probably say the for $80 you can get a ton of great sushi. They definitely don't downgrade the quality for the deal. Could I do this weekly? Probably not. I left so full. The $80 menu kind of compelled me to order more than I might eat normally. The$40 meal includes dishes like pad thai anyway so I think i could go back and do a sushi pregame and finish with some Thai food. That $40 is definitely worth it. Anyway, you should try this deal once before it goes. I don't think it's permanent. $80 for the premium is only worth it if you love Uni and otoro. Service was great. The inside was busy. The deal is popular. The inside of the place is warm and inviting even while packed.
