Ohhhh wow where do I begin to describe this shit show of a restaurant ill start with the Manager needs to be fired. First come first serve after you wait in a long ass line at the front door. The service is horrible 2 ladies take your order and make your drinks then give you a paper towel holder with a number then you go sit down and wait for any of the 4 employees to wander around the place looking for a food number. We watched food stack up filling the counter while the 2 lost employees went in and out of the business looking for certain numbers while the other food sat at the counter waiting. If you want water it's get your own and its warm tap water with no ice. The 2 bartenders were a joke. This whole restaurant is a joke. The service here was honestly extremely disappointing. All of the Grassa locations in Portland have been solid for dine-in/takeout for my partner and I in terms of food quality and great service - so expectations were high based on previous experiences. The staff who took our order notified us the food would be ready in 20 minutes, and was extremely rude when my partner asked about the update of our order after 25 minutes. After an additional 10 minutes we went to check again, and the order was placed on the counter without any indication (such as calling the name of the order or bringing the bag to where we were sitting directly next to the register). Additionally, the pasta was over cooked (gummy and not al dente as Grassa usually prepares it), bland and didn't have enough sauce. The restaurant itself was beautiful though, with a well lit and clean inside and outdoor area. TL;DR: The cooks and especially the front of house staff are not up to par with other Grassa locations. Would recommend driving an additional 12 minutes to NW 23rd for better quality food and service. read more

I LOVE the new Vancouver Waterfront area. However, I haven't found the RESTAURANT that I love there quite yet. We drove by the area recently and saw that Grassa had recently opened. We decided to come back for lunch today. We had wanted to try one of the locations previously but had not yet taken the time to do so. Friday lunch was a great time to go because we were able to find really close parking and the space wasn't too crowded. Weekends can get crazy busy in this area so it was great to go when it was a bit quieter. Grassa is one of those places where you first walk to the counter to order before waiting at your table. I was glad to have looked at the menu beforehand so I had some kind of idea as to what was on the menu. Fresh, handmade pasta is definitely the focus. I am a wuss and can't do spicy. The person at the counter recommended either the Big Rig or the Cherry Tomato Pomodoro. I opted for the Pomodoro. My husband debated between the Spaghetti Algio Olio and the Cacio e Pepe. He also went for the 2nd choice. We also added some meatballs and garlic bread to share. The meatballs were great. Very flavorful and not dry. I had a couple of hints of spice but it was pretty mild. The garlic bread was great - the perfect combination of chewy and crunchy. I thought my pasta was delicious but had less sauce than I was expecting. I think I'm more used to Americanized Italian food that tends to have more sauce. The pasta was still great tho! My husband also enjoyed his pasta. He said it was more butter than cheese for the sauce but he was pleased. We'll definitely be back! read more

We did take out with Grasa, and unfortunately, we were underwhelmed by the portions and the flavors of the pasta and the appetizer salads. The salad was bitter and small and could have used some extra flavors to it the the Barrada was overdone and was not very cheesy. We were pushed through the line like cattle and then had to search for a place to sit and eat. As someone who prefers a relaxed dinning environment this gave me a bit of anxiety and I was not a fan, at all. It was reminiscent of restaurants at amusement parks. You wait in a long line then when you get to the front the irritated employee rushes you through ordering then you have to hurry to find a place to sit or you're left standing until someone gets up. Went on a date night to Grassa after hearing decent things about the place. The place is very clean and the setting was nice, however even with inside seating the dining area was still very warm (especially with it being the Summer). The front staff were fine, although it felt like we were annoying one of the gals with just a small question :/ the taste of the pasta was fine but both of our dishes were undercooked (carbonara and the black pepper dish) and for the price paid it left a lot to be desired. I live nearby and got a chance to try most menu items. It's nice to have a casual, dining place on waterfront! Fusilli alla vodka - Excellent! There is discrepancy with spicyness level and it's been great across the entire spectrum Cacio e pepe - delicious despite vegetarian. Buttery without too much of the guilt and tastes of truffle Big rig - the only recipe that seems to incorporate mushrooms. Delicious, solid choice for anyone that appreciates a creamy pasta with crumbles of pork Carbonara - a bit too heavy but at least very filling. This reheats fine but is best enjoyed when you're dining there Cherry tomato pomodoro - very filling and feels healthy without compromising flavor. Had leftovers that reheated wonderfully Pork belly Mac & cheese - good but not personally a fan of BBQ style pork belly Pork ragu - safe choice Corn agnolotti - on the colder side because of the ingedients despite ordering for dine-in. First, the good news: the food was good. However, it took over 1/2 hour to get it. C'mon! The place was busy but not by any means packed. And it's pasta. What we didn't like was standing in line to order at the counter as if it were a fast food restaurant, then waiting forever for food to be delivered to our table. No bread unless you order it extra. The pasta was good but nothing super amazing. As there are so many restaurants in close proximity, I would probably try someplace else next time I'm on the waterfront. I recently visited the waterfront location, and ordered the pizza pocket. it was inedible, "crust" was wet and soaked with grease from the pepperoni, or possibly the way it was stored? I don't know, but it was completely soggy as if microwaved. Bleh. We also ordered then chicken Parmesan cannelloni, and it was awful, rather than a crispy chicken parm, the pasta was filled with soggy chunks of mystery meat, sort of like the pasta had been filled with a chicken stew. I've eaten here 2 other times before today. This time when I got the pork belly mac and cheese, it was a little sweeter than I would have liked it to be. I tried the garlic bread for the first time today and I wouldn't get it again. It was dry and not garlicky enough to my liking. I've tried the carbonara here and I wasn't impressed. A staggering disappointment. If you've never had Grassa in Portland, this place might be acceptable. But if you've ever had the real thing, you'll know how much of a disappointment this place is. I had a reservation at Dosalas across the street, when I saw Grassa. Having not had it in years, I decided to go there instead. Big mistake. We ordered our food and drinks, and the first course came out pretty quickly. Then we waited 35 minutes for anything else. We sipped our cocktails, noting just how bad the "Italian Margarita" turned out to be, waiting for our food. When it finally arrived, my pasta was somehow both hot and undercooked, while my husband's was *literally* cold. The Grassa meatballs were a firm, tasteless husk of their former glory. The garlic bread had no seasoning. My pork belly Mac and cheese was the most disappointing of all. The pasta tasted a day or two old. The pork belly was not properly rendered, leaving it rubbery and fatty. Just a sad, sad way to spend $80 on a birthday meal. The Brussels were good. The first thing we ate, 35 minutes before anything else arrived. Anyway, big, big disappointment. I don't anticipate ever coming back. read more

Every single time we've been, tables seated well after us have received their food before us. When we've asked, we've always then received our food immediately.
