First time at this location but just like all the others it didn't disappoint. This is some of the best food you can get for a reasonable price in Portland. Service is ok but honestly you come here for the food.
I am looking back at my pictures from visiting Portland and feeling sad because I miss Grassa!!! This handmade pasta is so delicious. The texture of the noodles is perfect and the flavor pairings are divine. If you try anything from here please try the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese. trust me Service is great, restaurant is clean, and lots of indoor/outdoor seating.
We drove by Grassa many times on our way to morning coffee and always noted we wanted to try them. I feel lucky to have gone twice now in the last few weeks. My hubby and I attended a rainy Bird Alliance of Oregon event on Sauvie Island a few weekends ago, but couldn't decide what we wanted for our late lunch until I remembered Grassa. We're so glad we made the stop because a bowl of pasta was just what the cold rainy day needed. Grassa is a casual, order at the counter restaurant and they bring your food to you. They have a good selection of noodle types and sauces, salads, and appetizers. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The location on 23d is open and light-filled. On that trip I had the Swiss Chard and Ricotta Caramelle, hubby had the Rigatoni with Sunday Pork Rage and we split a Noodle Week special which was a deconstructed pork noodle bowl. Everything we had was incredibly delicious and came out quickly. I have to be fully transparent that I'm not the biggest fan of ricotta, but the caramelle was unexpectedly delicious. They had just added it to the menu that day (21 February 2026) and I was the first to order it! It's a dish I would happily order again. I hope they bring the pork noodle bowl back because I could have eaten a bathtub sized portion of that alone. Today was my second visit and my dining date was our daughter. We were peckish after a Portland Nursery trip and I was happy to see there was another location close to us in Hawthorne. We shared the Brussels sprouts appetizer (YUM!!!), she had the Fusilli Alla Vodka, and I had the Black Truffle Pappardelle. The Hawthorne location was equally open and airy with friendly service and quick food service. We both loved the Brussel sprouts and both of our pastas were flavorful and cooked perfectly. Grassa is a wonderful choice if you are craving a warm, comforting bowl of fresh-made pasta with delicious sauce options and don't want to break the bank. Mangia!
Whoever made my food thank you for such a delicious meal I got to share with my family. My cousin is visiting and she brought me here twice on her visit, and each time I tried a new dish. At first the carbonara with the fried egg on top. And tho it tasted a bit different from what I was expecting from my memory of carbonara it was DELICIOUS. I cleaned that plate they could have put it back on the shelf you wouldn't have know I just ate my carbonara there. The second time I had the pork belly Mac and cheese. And OH MY GOODNESS this smacked beyond belief. I loved the caramelizan of the meat. The creaminess of the Mac man. Every part of this meal was just as if not more delicious than the last. Each time I had the Pineapple Express drink and it was so refreshing, big fan of that The service each time was great . And I enjoyed the ample seating areas that are available it makes the place look so much bigger and it's also super cool watching yall make pasta. It's definitely an art.
Pasta at 3PM? Sure. While visiting Portland's Nob Hill area, we decided to try the restaurant after seeing its sister store at the airport terminal. Inside, it was quite spacious with modern decor, open kitchen, and seating for 80+ guests. After browsing through the overhead menu, we placed our orders at the entrance counter and proceeded to an available table. We ordered the following dishes (arrived in 20 minutes): Rigatoni: The tomato based sauce was light but savory. The shredded pork pieces were well seasoned, soft and tender. The rigatoni noodles were perfectly cooked, and the sprinkled cheese added a nice texture and flavor to the dish. Squid Ink Spaghetti: The noodles were exquisitely dark and quite al dente. The sauce was savory, spicy, and a tad tangy. The chili in the nduja butter had quite a kick and really elevated the flavor of this dish a couple of notches. The small claims were plump and delicious. The portions were sensible and prices reasonable. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.
I've seen quite a few people mention wait times here... I find that interesting. So you don't want fresh food then? You'd rather have that food come out quickly, and be warmed up? Just think about it. "Made to order", means it's prepared after the order is placed. Do these people that complain think that's easy to achieve? In a restaurant that has customers in the dining room, and to go orders? I found this cute little place online. After asking several people at my hotel, I decided to have dinner there. I was pleasantly impressed! Pasta is my favorite, and I really enjoyed the Vodka sauce!!! Extremely tasty! The meatballs were almost as good as the ones I make. Delish! The garlic bread was just the way I like it. Nice and garlicky. Soft on the inside, and not too crispy on the outside. I can't wait to come back, so I can try other things. I was kind of bummed out that they did not have any shrimp dishes. Especially after seeing all the pics on Yelp. It's nice to have at least one seafood pasta dish. Hopefully they will have one when I am in town again. ^ The watermelon cocktail was really yummy... Grazie
I found this place through social media and was surprised when I walked in and found that it was dining where you order at the counter. Came here for a late lunch and tried the black truffle pappardelle and a caesar salad. The salad was nice and crisp with delicious croutons and the pasta was very filling. A little on the salty side but as a fan of truffle I was in heaven. I was a little disappointed in their options for meat. Every single meat dish includes pork, so I had to opt for a vegetarian pasta. The overall vibe of the place is very laid back and perfect for a lunch.
I didn't expect to be yanked out of my pasta comfort zone -- but wow, was I glad I was. My kids picked Grassa, hoping for a classic Italian night. I came craving lasagna or fettuccine Alfredo. Spoiler alert: Grassa doesn't do the usual suspects. No problem. I pivoted and ordered the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese. Let me tell you -- that dish was next-level. The pork belly was rich and savory, the pasta creamy and indulgent. I kept going back and forth trying to decide which part I loved more. Honestly? It was perfect. Marlene went with the Fusilli Alla Vodka. The portion was huge -- she tapped out halfway through, so I "helped." One bite turned into five, and yeah... I finished it. Smooth, spicy, and ridiculously good. The space itself is open and lively, filled with families laughing and soaking up the evening. Big windows frame the neighborhood vibe, and every staff member greeted us with warmth and a smile. Grassa didn't just serve dinner -- it served a reminder that stepping outside your go-to order can lead to something unforgettable.
Grassa is a PNW chain eatery serving up some delicious Italian food. This location is in Northwest Portland where there is street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a modern and spacious setup with a good amount of seating. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different side and pasta dishes to choose from. Wifey opted for the Black Truffle Pappardelle, I got the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese, and we got a side of the Grassa Meatballs. Everything that we had tasted fresh and delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience here. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. This is a great spot to grab a bite with a date, friends, or family.
Five stars for the pork belly mac (btw when I saw Grassa at the airport I knew I had to order it again to go! I didn't eat it until I got home, and it was just as delicious)! I love the big pasta that they use for this dish, so much so I looked up what Grassa uses in this dish! Turns out it's ribbed lumache ("snails" style). Both times I ordered it, it was cooked perfectly al dente and the pork belly is chunky, and slightly sweet. I am a sucker for a sweet and savory combo, so this was the perfect dish for me. The watermelon salad was a memorable highlight too, refreshing and perfect for summer. I believe the salad is seasonal, but I also appreciate seasonal dishes as a way to mix things up for regulars. I also got a cocktail, the Pictures of Lily (gin, creme of violette, triple sec, lemon) but they ran out of lemon so I asked if lime would taste good in it. The server was so nice to say if I didn't like it he could change it for me. But it tasted pretty good, so I didn't ask for a new drink but appreciated the option. I thought the cocktail menu was unique, everything on the cocktail menu looked good! We ordered a few other dishes but they are already fading from my memory...but most importantly, I would highly recommend the pork belly mac and watermelon salad!
Everything was so good. Fresh handmade pasta. The Cesar salad is so good with the pickled lemons. I think they're pickled. Not pretentious for having such phenomenal pasta it's like you would find this in an upscale restaurant. I am from California and never had pasta this good.
Absolutely the star of our trip up to Portland. Staff was friendly and helpful in making our decisions. The restaurant is very clean and having the kitchen visible from the dining area (including being able to see the pasta being made) made our experience very enjoyable. The food was an absolute knockout. The pasta was all cooked perfectly and I am very happy that they weren't afraid to use a heavy hand with the peppers on the radiatori. It's also a nice throwback to get an Italian soda, the orange cream was a great addition to the meal. Hope I get to make a trip back up this way soon so I can come back.
Grassa is a great place to grab some fresh made noodles in house. The pesto, spaghetti and meatballs, their Mac and cheese is very delicious. I love getting their garlic bread. They have a good lunch special that's called the lunch rush is such a great deal. They even do seasonal dishes that are always good. Highly recommend coming here for some pasta.

Unfortunately, had a bit of a poor experience with the dinner I picked up at this Grassa location, compared to my fantastic experience at the Hawthorne location last month. I'm okay paying the mandatory 20% gratuity Grassa is slapping onto all takeout orders, but I hope for a little more attention to detail with the food in that case. The braised rapini I ordered was an insultingly small portion, like the kitchen had scraped out the bottom of a pan for my order (about 1/3 of what I got at the Hawthorne location). The "Texas Stroganoff" had decent flavor, but the beef brisket in the dish was sadly dry and stringy. Pork Belly Mac n' Cheese was as delicious and decadent as when I had it last time, awesome dish. I still like Grassa but would probably skip this location next time. read more

A cute, wonderful Italian dinner experience. We went for dinner on a Friday night, It was pretty busy but didn't take too long to order or get our food. The handmade pasta was top notch and the pork ragu on the rigatoni was *chefs kiss*, the only knock was that there was not enough. The carbonara was creamy and flavorful. The portions were elite, leaving you feeling full but not stuffed. Prices were excellent, cocktails were also good, nothing spectacular but very solid. Would deff recommend and will be going back again. read more

Honestly, not my favorite! First of all , you walk in grab a menu and order at the counter. This is fine for a lunch spot, but we were wanting to sit down and have table service. Didn't know this until we arrived, by then it was too late and we were starving. I don't really mind ordering at the counter when I'm expecting it, but the meal was not inexpensive for pasta, and they want a tip at the end. For what?????? (Everyone wants a tip anymore....) Me ordering my own food, and having to request someone clean off my table??? Spent time tracking down parm cheese and black pepper as well. Ordered Caesar salad and it was waaaay too salty . I love salt being from the Midwest, but my tongue was raw once the pasta arrived. My meal was nothing to write home about. Beautiful presentation but lacked flavor and creativity. Not a fan of pepperoncini as an ingredient in a pasta dish as well . Meatballs were sizable, but chewy and the texture was off. The wine, meh.... save your money! Drive me nuts that we live so close to some of the most beautiful wines in the world, and restaurants serve crap like what I ordered. We will pay for it people!!! It would be nice to have decent options. Won't come back here again. Sorry. read more

So. Freaking. Delicious! This is the best pasta I've had in the entire PNW. Their pastas are all handmade! My goodness, I'm still thinking about the black truffle pappardelle. It was rich in umami flavor, and I was not expecting that, as it was such a simple looking dish. I also tried the spaghetti al pesto, which paired well with the chopped toasted hazelnuts, zucchini noodles, and mozzarella fondutta. However, I do think it was missing a touch of salt. No complaints here though! (The truffle pappardelle was on the saltier side, so this pesto pasta complemented my taste buds.) This isn't talked about enough, but I am so glad that I didn't have to be hosted because I am a HUGE introvert. You pay upfront, choose a seat, and a server will deliver your food. It was a busy restaurant, but I was still able to eat in peace and comfortably given that I have social anxiety. read more
I love grassa. I go several times a month. This location is nearby my office so I go all the time for lunch. If you go for lunch, I highly recommend ordering ahead so it's ready when you get there. The ambiance is beautiful inside but sometimes the music is a bit too loud and hard for when I'm sitting by myself enjoying my break. I love sitting in the windows in the sunshine. It's really nice. The food is amazingggg. I've tried a lot of the menu! The fusilli alla vodka is my GO TO. it's so good and perfectly spicy. The shrimp fra diavolo is a seasonal and it's very garlic heavy but worth it. Lots of big shrimp. The baked ochi di lupo is a bit on the expensive side but it's incredible and worth it for a dinner. The garlic bread is really great too but I don't normally get it. Sometimes the bread is a bit too tough. The pesto spaghetti is good too but I'm not the hugest fan of the cheese in the center. The pesto itself could be more fragrant too. Overall this place has probably seen $500 from my pocket or more. I will continue to be a faithful grassa fan. read more
I ordered the rigatoni pork ragu and it was delicious! The pork was so tender and tasty with fresh basil on top. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. I also had the Caesar salad which came with full anchovies on top which I loved! Just order at the counter and there is plenty of seating inside. Mouth wateringly good and so wonderful on a cold night! read more

It's been a while since I last had Grassa so I'm glad I stopped in recently! Their pastas have always been bomb. I remember the first and only other time I had their carbonara and will admit that I wasn't impressed initially because it was dry and not flavorful whatsoever. I would like to think that it was maybe due to the fact that it was a very busy dinner night so maybe that was a factor then? Anyways, I decided to give it another shot this time around and it was significantly better than I remembered. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly Mac + cheese and it was fireee - per usual. Pork belly was cooked perfectly and the Mac + cheese sauce was great. We came in for an early dinner on a Saturday and there was no wait at all and plenty of seating inside and outside as well. You order your food/drinks first, then you're given a number, find a seat and they'll bring your order to you once ready! read more

First time visit Grassa after hearing many great things about this trendy diner. Many locations to choose from within Portland and it's outskirts (Vancouver & Lake Oswego). Very chill, cozy, casual, and welcoming: Entering the restaurant, you order at the front counter and pay for your food. You fill your own water pitcher, then seat yourself. I like the flow of Grassa because you get to enjoy everything at your own pace. Most restaurants in Portland, due to high volume of traffic I tend to feel rushed. Since you already paid upon arrival, you leave whenever you like.. no need to wait for a check! Favorite dishes & the only dishes I have tried: - Squid Ink Pasta - Pork Belly Mac & Cheese (my favorite and was most recommended to me) - Garlic Bread - Grassa Meatballs (for extra protein) I'd come here again in the future! It was the perfect date night outing, we left with full bellies and happy hearts :))) read more
Delicious home made pasta served perfectly al dente with piping hot sauce! Love! As with their other two locations, this is counter service; order, take a number, food arrives at your table. This is what keeps the prices in check so you pay $10-17 for pasta dishes whereas many other Italian places charge $18-28. I will order at the counter any day of the week! What I can't figure out is if the business model is counter service, why did Grassa not design their space to accommodate people waiting in line at the counter for service??? When you enter the door, there are 3 steps you walk up and then you are immediately at the counter. That works if you are the only person or two in line. More than that and people huddle in the stairwell. In space in front of the counter is barely 4 feet wide and is the only pathway to the dining area to the left and right. So it's a traffic path congested with the waitstaff delivering food and patrons walking by it to get a table. And people waiting for counter service! Last night around 6:15 there were 12+ people cramped in the stairwell Waiting to step up and out to order from the one cashier. People were entering the restaurant and trying squeeze past us to get to dining area to secure a table. People were squeezing by us to leave. The waitstaff had to squeeze past us with bowls of piping hot pasta. It just makes no sense! Music is not as loud and vibrating as the SE Hawthorne location so our table of 8 could actually have and hear conversation. A huge plus! We were doing a Wine Tasting and there is no corkage fee at Grassa, another huge positive!!! I'm a creature of habit but last night deviated from the Rigatoni with Sunday Ragu or Cacio e Pepe and ordered the Radiatore with a beef and pork bolognese ($13) and a side of grilled mustard greens ($6.) The pasta was good but lacked the depth of flavor that's in their signature ragu. The greens were a total miss. Expecting the bitterness of mustard greens, my tastebuds were thrown off by the super sweet taste from way too much honey. I left it barely touched. Next time, I will stick to my tried and true faves. Grassa, at any location, is still one of my favorite spots for fresh and delicious pasta. It's a casual atmosphere and a great dining choice when you are craving a bowl of delicious Italian comfort food without the pretentiousness. Parking at this location is challenging at dinner time, especially on a weekend. With my tiny Smart car I rarely have any issues, but others may have to park a few blocks away or just take Lyft. read more

Came here right before dinner rush after a salon appointment. Never been here before and didn't really know what expect. Walked through the door and entered into a warm industrial interior. You have to pay and order before sitting, so I headed to the counter. Wasn't really greeted and felt a little rushed, but that's okay. The prices were pretty affordable, which was a really nice surprise. Paid and was quickly asked to take a seat with the number that was given to me. The vibe of the restaurant when I went was a little quiet, it was right before dinner rush after all. The kitchen was open concept and I was able to watch the pasta being made, which was pretty cool! It did take a while for my food to be ready even in an empty restaurant at the time, about 30-40 minutes. At least it was made fresh and from scratch. Was finally served my pasta (no smile or acknowledgement what so ever), but it looked gorgeous! Couldn't stop taking pictures! Nice and hot, creamy, and right amount of al dente! Large pieces of pancetta as well. Also had some crispy toppings, maybe breadcrumbs and parnassian cheese? Really added to the texture. So good! The egg on top was the perfect touch! Not bad for such a great price!! Left feeling satisfied with a good pasta fix. If only I received a friendlier service, could have given a 5 star. All well maybe next time! read more

I don't understand how one can mess up pasta this bad. Jarred pasta sauce with dry pasta would've been better. We ordered the variety - a burrata for the table, two Sunday special bolognese rigatonis, a carbonara and a cacio e pepe. EVERYTHING. WAS. BLAND. Not to mention cold too. We were the only customers there at 5pm on a Sunday evening, so I don't know how the pasta came out cold when there were no other orders to make. Cacio e pepe is typically made with a salty Pecorino cheese and black pepper. Carbonara is made with salty pancetta or bacon and Parmesan cheese. This is why it boggles my mind how BLAND both of these dishes were. Where on earth did the salt go? The bolognese had a hint of a hint of tomato flavor. Meat tasted like it was boiled in plain water then mixed in to the sauce. The parsley on top had more flavor than the sauce. Honestly making hand made pasta seems like such a waste of time if the sauce isn't going to enhance any flavor to the dish. One last comment about the burrata.... Isn't the joy of eating burrata cheese slicing through the ball and spreading it on baguette or crostini? This burrata came pre smeared and maybe it was because they wanted to hide the fact that it was not even one whole ball of burrata. Also - fruit flies everywhere in the restaurant. While I had one hand on a fork, the other hand was busy swatting flies. We sat near a corner that had cobwebs full of dead fruit flies. Not something you want to be staring at while you're just trying to eat. I wonder how long it's been there. It'll take me a lot of convincing and change to come back here. read more
Reading all these reviews on this restaurant and their other locations you would think the pasta here was good if not amazing. I was misled and frankly severely disappointed and disgusted. Pasta was served slightly cold, flavor and seasoning were missing, and we were swarmed by flys while eating our meal. Sure, it looked like it would taste good but don't be fooled. Save yourself some time and money. My six year old can season her food better than this. Never again. Bleh read more

I've been looking forward to trying this place for quite a while and it was painfully mediocre enough to where I am not keen on trying it again. We ordered a plate of carbonara, the squid ink pasta, garlic bread and the fritto misto (calamari). The carbonara was pretty dry, the noodles were pretty chewy and the flavors of the sauce itself in the squid ink were overpowering. The garlic bread was hard and most of the fritto misto was soggy like it hadn't been fried long enough. You order at the front and the servers (giving a star to their friendliness)bring the food but no one checks on how the meal is going. read more

Grassa was recommended to us by some friends. When I think about the cool food I need to try in another city, it's not often pasta or anything that's too carby or comforting. We happened to be in the Alphabet District and noticed there was a Grassa there so we decided to check it out for dinner and we are glad we did. We had to line up outside of the door for just a few minutes. You order up at the front and grab your number and sit and wait for your food at your table. Food felt like it took a little long, but I guess when you have handcrafted pasta and it's a bumpin' Friday night, you gotta have patience! We ordered Squid Ink Tonnarelli and the Chicken Marsala and both were soooo worth the wait. The Squid Ink had shrimp and meatballs. Those meatballs are heavenly and the whole dish tasted so good together even though you had these meaty meatballs and shrimp in the same bowl! The Chicken Marsala totally hit the spot, with the mix of prosciutto, mushrooms and chicken creating the perfect creation of flavours in my mouth. Everything tasted so fresh and authentic! read more

Homemade pasta place on NW 23rd. This was my first visit. I had a pumpkin ravioli, this was so yummy with a bit of sweetness from the pumpkin and ricotta cheese. They have more stuffing than regular shaped ravioli. I highly recommend this dish. However, the plate of fritto misto was 85% over fried onions and 15% calamari. We actually had to search for calamari. Whatever the calamari we could find was very well fried it's just didn't have enough to be called fritto misto. read more

Was in the Portland area and was looking for some pasta. Grassa caught my eye and glad I found this place. They didn't have dining inside at the time however they did have outside seating. I ordered the carbonara Bc it looked so good with the egg and bacon. I wasn't disappointed. The carbonara was nice and light with a nice hint of black pepper. The pasta was cooked al dente. So delicious. It was so good I came back another time and ordered the same thing. read more

Wait in line to order? Sure, why not. Not sure that with a limited menu, why it is still so hard to make choices! Menu is on a chalkboard as you walk in, with brief descriptions of all items- all sounding amazing. Love this concept, even though i love being wined and dined. Garlic bread - superior Mac and cheese with pork belly -amazing Cacio e Pepe: truffle butter, cracked pepper and salt on ribbons of fresh pasta! Get it! Wine by glass, by ml, whatever... it's a deal! This place is packed!! I had gone to the other location so I knew about the long wait times but it still amazes me how much people wait to eat here. On a Thursday night this place still had a line out the door that was 15 minutes. Food: I got the Radiatore and wow I loved the portion sizes here it's definitely filling! The pasta had a good ratio of pasta to sauce and the texture was delightful. I also had the tempura green beans which had a sweet tangy flavor. Service: You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you when it's ready! Quite hands off and you can get water yourself. Ambiance: This place is dimly lit and quite fancy for a counter side service place! Overall, love the selection here always and would love to come again. Just not with a long line again. read more

The quality speaks for itself; Grassa's pasta dishes are handmade with super fresh ingredients, and they're so good! This is a must-stop anytime someone comes to visit us in PDX. I'm still relatively new to the area, so I'm not sure how often they update their menu, but a few vegetarian go-tos are no longer available. Thankfully the Spaghettis Aglio Olio and Al Pesto are both 10/10, so you really can't go wrong. The restaurant is kind of dark and moody, casual, and you can pretty much sit wherever. They also have a few tables and patio seating outside. The service is always pleasant enough, and I appreciate that they have a self-serve water station with cups and carafes. However, it always rubs me the wrong way when a restaurant auto-adds tip (side-eye) and I almost want to take away one star for that, but the pasta really is good. read more

My friend and I shared the fried Brussels sprouts (which were flavorful and crunchy). She had the rigatoni with pork - the sauce was bright and tangy and pork was juicy and tender. I had the black truffle pappardelle - which I found to be yummy but the sauce was a little runny and the flavors were not quite as powerful as I hoped. We also had a couple of drinks - house white wine and a bourbon-based cocktail. I wasn't a fan of either so if I were to go again I would definitely order the Brussels sprouts and rigatoni but would skip the black truffle pappardelle and house wine. read more

Beating myself up that I've been to Portland several times, yet this was my first to Grassa. I wasn't expecting such a casual atmosphere. You order at the counter, they give you a number and you find a table. The hubs and I shared the carbonara and pork belly mac & cheese. Carbonara was good with the bits of pancetta and runny yolk from the fried egg. The stand out dish was the pork belly mac and cheese. The pork belly was suuuuper tender and carmelized. They top the dish off with some fresh scallions/chives. It made the dish feel a little less heavy and tied all the flavors together. You can see them make all the pastas from scratch. Super cool to see! read more
Grassa is my go to pasta place in Portland. It is very easy and very casual. They have nice menu and can be customized. I tried the squid ink pasta at their original location minus the prosciutto, it was still great. It was stir fried with clams and served with cheese and some bread crumbs, so there was very minimal next to no sauce. There is another black squid ink pasta menu in this location but slightly different. This time it had the tomato based sauce and large pieces of shrimp. It was still good, and interesting dynamic of tangy tomato sauce and seafood flavored black noodles. We also got Caccio E Pepe. It is truffle butter, cheese, and sunny side egg pasta. It is very rich (too rich for my liking), but perhaps others will like it more than I did? This location is more spacious than the original one. I like that the 23rd Ave has more dining options that feature Portland's finest. read more
Was really excited to eat at Grassa after seeing the reviews and photos - as a pasta lover, this looked like heaven to me! Came at around 7:30 on a Saturday and waited in line for about 20 minutes. After ordering, it took approximately 50 minutes for our food to arrive. Bucatini: Disappointing. Lacked flavor and had a very watery consistency. I felt as though I was eating plain noodles with basil. This dish needs more cheese, salt, pepper, and stronger pesto. Would not spend $14 again to have what tastes like wet spaghetti. Cacio e Pepe: This dish really stole the show. Excellent combination of flavors, without being overly rich. Would skip the menu and order this right away next time! Corn Salad: Really fun combination of flavors. The sour blueberries mixed with the corn and herbs made for a unique combination. The size was the perfect amount to hold me over until the pasta arrived. Would order again. Mac and Cheese: Pretty average as far as mac and cheese goes. The pork belly was overly sweet and I ended up eating around it. Would not order again. Overall, food was average. While the Cacio e Pepe was delicious and would bring me back into Grassa, nothing else was that impressive. If you are having an absolute pasta craving and do not mind waiting an hour for food, Grassa may be for you. When considering the wait time and prices, I would not come back otherwise. For comparable money and less of a wait, could get better pasta elsewhere in Portland. read more
