The food was great and the price was reasonable. The service was awesome and love our attention from our server.

I had the Pesto tortellini. It came with a slice of garlic bread. It was delicious!!! Fresh ingredients.

Delicious wood-fired pizza (be sure to try the crispy one) with interesting drinks. My drink was ginger ale and vodka, and it was a very interesting combination.

Food was so delicious. I got the lamb papparedelle and it came with so much meat. The martinis were also delicious. Service was super fast. There was only one server I believe and she did awesome. We sat outside and it was beautiful. Definitely on a busy street and loud but still nice.

After making our reservation we got an email about the fees they charge for being a no-show for being late, so I was surprised when they weren't able to seat us for 15 minutes after our reservation. Otherwise, we had a great time and enjoyed the food.

Our table of three made a spontaneous stop at Piattino on our way to the airport, marking our very first visit to Portland. We needed a memorable final meal, and this charming spot delivered a perfect five-star experience. From the moment we sat down, everything was fantastic. We started with a bottle of the Barbera, which was smooth, rich, and truly exceptional--a wonderful way to toast our trip. The accompanying bread was equally impressive: crusty, perfectly toasted, and ideal for enjoying with a bit of olive oil or soaking up the last bits of sauce. The true stars of the show, however, were the pastas. Every dish tasted like it was crafted with care and the freshest ingredients. We shared a few, including a gorgeous, creamy specialty (similar to the one pictured) that was utterly divine--perfectly al dente and coated in an exquisitely balanced sauce. The portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming, and the flavors were rich yet refined. Despite the fact that we were slightly rushed to catch our flight, the service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Piattino provided an authentic, warm, and delicious farewell to Portland that we won't soon forget. We will definitely be back!

This place isn't great for groups more than 6 unless you have a reservation. Definitely worth it though! All the food came out amazing and if you love Italian food, check it out!

Portland has the best food holy crap! The starter was amazing. The margarita pizza was 20/10! Perfectly cooked and ingredients fresh as ever! Service was also amazing too. Highly recommend.

Classic Italian cuisine featuring handcrafted pasta and sauces and pizzas served in a communal almost tavern-like setting, Piattino is a nice traditional respite from all of the new flashy restaurants in the area. Located in Portland's trendy Pearl District, Piattino combines traditional Italian flavors with the bounty of fresh Italian ingredients that are bountiful in the Pacific Northwest. As exemplified by their menu which features a number of traditional classics that one can find in the bistros of both Rome and in New York, Piattino represents classic comfort food crafted meticulously by the hands of their hard-working team. Located on the corner of Northwest Everett Street and Northwest 12th Avenue, I came to Piattino with two local Portlanders who swear by their quality food and service, as they insisted that when we found the time to hang out, it was here where we were going to do it! Finding parking nearby on a late weeknight evening was surprisingly plentiful and we were already sitting inside with last minute reservations hearing their team craft pasta dishes right from the pan and crafting pizzas using their massive stone oven. The menu at Piattino is separated into categories including Cheese & Salumi, Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Entrées of the oven & Handmade Pastas, Handcrafted wood fired pizzas, specials, and Handcrafted Cocktails. To start our meal we decided to share a Polenta Cake, which was served with mushrooms and served on a bed of San Marzano sauce over pistachio pesto. Perfectly cooked and sharable, it only made me want more food because I knew our meal was going to be that good. For dinner, our server "Pickles" mentioned a number of enticed Specials and one caught two of our attention, as their Manzo Manicotti which was pasta tubes filled with natural beef manico, topped with béchamel, San Marzano sauce, pecorino and mozzarella was so intriguing that we both decided to order that entrée. The other person in our party ordered their Risotto al nero, which was a Venetian classic Squid ink risotto with squid, shrimp, and cherry tomatoes. Although they were not a fan of risotto so they easily replaced it with additional shrimp. To pair with our meal some of us ordered their Huckleberry Lemonade which was a refreshing spin on the traditional classic. Our entrées were cooked to perfection with the cast iron pan that held our manicotti. They were hearty without being overindulgent as it was the perfect amount of food for one diner to enjoy. When paired with the perfected grilled bread and my non-alcoholic libation, it was a meal to savor over. My dining mate didn't prefer their risotto so "Pickles" was gracious enough to change it to their suggested entrée of their Hand cut Vegetarian Pappardelle, which featured roasted cherry tomatoes, asparagus, garlic, onions and mushrooms. With one of my dining mates ordering Italian Wedding Soup to start and a Tiramisu to enjoy for dessert, our entire meal cost $136, before gratuity was added in, which was actually quite reasonable considering how much food we enjoyed this evening. I can't wait to come back and try their handcrafted pizza pies because with homemade sauces and fresh ingredients, you know they are bound to be delicious! Dining indoors or outdoors at Piattino you are going to enjoy a memorable experience with good company and even better food, and Portland is lucky that they are here thriving for locals and tourists alike to enjoy.

This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in quite some time. My friend and I were able to get a seat at the bar without a reservation and we thought we were lucky since they were busy. The amount of time it took for us to get our drink orders in was lengthy plus we had to tell the bartender we wanted to order food. We ordered bread and calamari which came out at an okay time. I wasn't sure what I wanted for my main but my friend did so she put her order in first. Once I was ready we waited for awhile before the bartender came over to check on us and asked if I knew what I wanted. After a bit my friend got her food but I was still waiting on mine. She ended up finishing her meal and mine still hadn't come out. I was at the point that I wanted to get the check and leave since they didn't even ask if we wanted more drinks. Once we were ready to leave my main came out and I ended up asking for a box since I wasn't even in the mood to eat it anymore. The bartender told us a few tables had snuck their orders in before us but I feel she maybe forgot to put the order in. I had ordered the chicken carbonara and for some reason it had red onions in it and the noodles were not the typical carbonara noodles either. I honestly wish I had told them I didn't want it anymore but I didn't want it to get thrown and be wasteful. When we asked for the check she didn't even have the right items on our bill and it took awhile for her to come over and get us checked out. We didn't want to pay on one check either but she didn't bother to ask that before giving us our tab. The only good thing about this place was the bread and the mango martini. It was such a disappointment for being from out of town and wanting a nice dinner while I'm here.

Charming Italian spot with fantastic food, warm ambiance, and truly great service thanks to our amazing server Hyacinth. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the cozy vibe made it even better. Huge shoutout to our server Hyacinth--friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. Can't wait to come back!

I made a reservation to celebrate mother's day a week ahead of the official day through Opentable. There is a no-show/last min cancelation charge for the reservation, which isnt an issue for us but worth noting. We were greeted warmly as they open their doors, and sat down at a table repurposed from a sewing machine (cool!) We started off with some garlic bread and calamari, both were amazing and all ingredients tasted fresh. The coastal storm cocktail is well balanced, and the in-house smoked salt compliments the drink very well. Our daughters shared a Margherita pizza which was well made, and straight from the brick oven. Both the lamb papperdelle and eggplant parm had one of the best pastas we've had, close to what we tasted in Italy years ago. If I have to nitpick anything, the eggplant parm was well made, but didn't quite have anything that stands out (aside from the pasta itself.) We had a new server who was guided by an experienced staff, both were wonderful. My wife was very happy with the meal, both the ambience and the food, so this is definitely a win in the books! Certainly will consider this spot again for special occasions or for out of town visitors.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

The crust had a nice chew with a bit of crisp on the edges, and the sauce balanced everything without getting lost under all the meat. It's a solid spot if you're craving a rich, filling pizza that doesn't hold back. Not light by any means, but that's kind of the point here. Good flavor, good portion, and hits best when you're hungry.

For example, when the Arugula Salad is made well, it is fantastic. However we have had repeated experiences where the greens are not fresh, or the dressing is forgotten, or there is no cheese. We have had repeated issues specifically with takeout orders, over many years. Additionally, if you dine-in, there is an entire bottle of oil on the table that you are encouraged to use on your pizza. It is delicious, and really completes the pizza flavor profile! They used to automatically include two small containers of oil per pizza if you ordered to-go. Current policy appears to be to not include any oil with the pizza (unless explicitly asked) and to only provide a maximum of two oils (even if multiple pizzas are ordered). I don't know if there is an oil shortage or what, but this is silly for a place that charges so much for their pizza. Life of Pie is a typical Portland restaurant that expects you to tip before you receive your food (and also expects you to bus your own table). To me, this expectation alongside with the inconsistency of the food for the price, is disappointing, and does not encourage people to go out of their way to return. When the food is good it is a solid place, however I would expect much more consistency for the price they command.
