Another great dinner at Allora. Lasagna special was excellent and service was attentive.

I love how adorable the outdoor patio space is, with string lights and sun protection hanging from trees over pleasant marble tables great for small groups. We were the last table to join for the night, so things were more relaxed in service, which was nice for us, since we had a bit more time between each service moment to hang out. But, expect some of the daily specials to be out of stock by night time. We each ordered a starter and a dessert, plus a drink. I would not say that this is exceptional dining when it comes to Italian in Portland, but it is great! We are blessed with so much good food here, that I would definitely come back to dine with friends who have never been. I know that the higher costs we see day to day are not due to businesses, but the President and their trade ideas, but it still is frustrating to see cocktails approaching $20. Keep it up Allora, you are a great spot for the community to support! read more

Gluten and Egg Allergy-haver here . Sadly the gf pasta is made with eggs so I was unable to try the pasta dishes. Boooo. I ordered the fish of the day. It was very good, cooked well but the portion was a small filet and a smattering of *lightly* blanched green beans and tomatoes and I was left hungry it would be best served with some type of rice or potatoes to bulk it up. We also ordered a burrata appetizer (which was $20?! Wow) and my group tried two pasta dishes-regular spaghetti and meatballs and the prosciutto pasta. Unfortunately both said the sauce was spicy so they had a hard time with it. Overall it was a good meal! But just a bit underwhelming for the price and still being hungry by the end. read more

The space is very charming and the ambiance is great for a relaxed date night. While we enjoyed the setting, the food and service were just okay. Portland has such great dining places but the flavors here didn't quite meet that level. Because the appetizer and entree didn't land for us, we chose to pass on dessert. read more

Atmosphere: Nice, intimate atmosphere with a couple outdoor tables. Only downside was that a loud homeless guy lingered in the area for a bit which was a bit of a deterrent but other than that no complaints. Food: Food was very good. Highlights included the Caprese Salad and the Sugo di Carne. We also enjoyed the other dishes as well though. Price: Prices were reasonable given the portion size and quality Service: Good service Parking: Street parking read more

Cute spot for a romantic date night! A bit overpriced and a few hidden fees - we got a burrata special and thought it came with bread but the bread was extra. Making the special out to be $27. We might have chosen something differently if we knew the cost! I also ordered a short rib pappardelle pasta expecting something with beef and a sort of darker sauce but it ended up being pork and didn't taste bad but reminded me of a chicken noodle soup with the flavor combination. I probably just ordered wrong and should have asked more questions but I was hoping for something a bit different! Not a stand out meal, but definitely good and I'd give them another chance! Staff was super friendly. read more

Walked in at 7:30pm to place a to-go order and had a glass of wine at the *very small* bar while I waited (2-3 backless barstools right along the walkway to the kitchen, so not ideal). As far as seated dining, the restaurant was intimate and dimly lit so pretty romantic, but the (maybe) 5 tables were pretty packed together inside so lacked privacy. There was additional seating outside on the sidewalk which is lit by string lights but also right next to Glisan so car traffic. This is a 2-story restaurant with a long, narrow flight of stairs going up to the 2nd floor where I imagine more seating existed. The wine list didn't provide the name of the wines sold by the glass, but the Sauvignon Blanc was very good. I ordered the ravioli in brown butter sage sauce and chose the mushroom ricotta filling. It was delicious but I was surprised at the very small portion, considering the price was $25. I just didn't feel the meal was worth it. If you don't have a reservation or can't manage stairs, you might want to consider another restaurant option. read more

Most inattentive restaurant I have ever been sat at. The environment was incredibly noisy. Food had way too much pepper and you could tell it was not made with love. I could've paid less and ate better at an olive garden, maybe even old spaghetti factory. There were also bugs in my water. Not cool. Extremely overpriced for the quality and taste of the food. My favorite part was leaving. The baguette was phenomenal though. read more

While it is a bit pricey, as most places in the NW are, especially those catering to a demographic with quite a bit more disposable income, the food actually stands up. Their calamari is above average and their Carbonara is incredible - it strikes the balance between an overly-sauced Hangover cure and a gentrified artisanal pasta, possessing the best qualities of both. Overall, I think this spot is great if you are looking for a classic Italian spot . It may not be the most instagrammable, but the in-person ambiance is great and the service is very attentive. read more

First visit here after a commendation from a trusted friend. We're were greeted with the Gez Z stare. Not a warm friendly welcome. But after that our waiter and the food runners were pleasant and professional. The meal was fantastic and the flow of food and beverages was timely. We were not rushed at all which was nice. Every bite of each dish was delicious and several people with me thought it was a " percent" meal. Not sure I would go back as the space is a little too dark for me and there are equally great Italian restaurants in the neighborhood that are more welcoming. read more

Came here with my colleagues. Cute restaurant. We sat upstairs. Rob was our server. He was attentive and humorous. I was impressed by how they brought drinks and food skillfully up and down the narrow stairs. Restaurant had a romantic vibe. Small but still able to have great conversation and laughter with friends. Lots of folks on dinner dates. Couldn't decide between gnocchi and short rib ragu. I ordered the short rib ragu based on Rob's recommendation. It's pork, but very rich. The pasta was delicious. 20% gratuity on larger parties. It's worth it to give this place a try. Cute place. It's small but food was really good. I ordered the Gamberi e Pomodoraccio. It was so good & had a spicy kick which was perfect. Also tried the Negroni & it was very different from anything I've ever tried. I don't think it's a drink for me but glad I tried it. Staff were friendly. The smaller waiter with short hair was great at making me feel valued by letting me know the specials/soup/ fish of the day. He's the only reason this restaurant is getting a 4 star. Otherwise, I would've given it a 3 star. I ordered a glass of Chianti, the baguette and Spaghetti Carbonara. There was a fruit fly that was flying around my food and it was a little annoying. I wished the carbonara had pepper cooked in it. I had to ask for pepper and the waiter let me keep it at the table. That's how carbonara is cooked. Also, look at the presentation in the picture of the carbonara and how lob-sided it is. The cook just didn't give af. Just taking the time to make it more round if you're gonna serve it on a round plate. Most of the pastas were $24 so the 2 dollar signs should really be 3. The baguette was ok and loved that they had olive oil at the table. But yea I knocked a star down for presentation (the first pic is me adding the baguette to cover the lobsided part) second pic is how it came. read more

We went there for father's day with a party of six. The evening started well with good appetizers and a nice ambiance. Service was spotty with the food arriving in stages. Four of us got our food, then later one more came and finally the six person got their food. If we waited for all to be served our food would have been cold. The food was good but certainly not great. There are many italian restaurants in Portland that are much better both in terms of service and quality. read more

We came to Allora for a saturday night date night. The inside was cute with wine bottles lining the walls. Service was good and efficient. We started with some cocktails that were solid. The bruschetta trio was good, though it needed some salt. We shared 2 pastas (amatriciana and sugo di carne) that were both good. The flavors were solid but nothing to write home about. Overall Allora is a solid italian spot in the pearl district with some basic home style italian food. read more

A friend and I visited Allora when staying in Portland. We found them after searching for something hearty when returning to the city after a long day of hiking up on the coast. Allora is a small and cozy restaurant with a beautiful ambiance. We were seated immediately upon arriving and were taken care of by a friendly and attentive server. We ordered bread, wine, and different pasta dishes. I ordered the rigatoni nico and enjoyed it so much. The pasta was delicious and the flavor of the sauce was wonderful. I'd definitely recommend checking out this Italian spot if ever in the Portland area. read more

This is Portland's #1 hidden gem for Italian food. Paolo, the owner, is a master! His Milanese faire is flavorful and balanced with the finest ingredients. The ravioli (different seasonal variations) with sage & butter is the best on the planet. The gnocchi is the lightest and fluffiest you'll experience. The beet salad is phenomenal. The panna cotta is the creamiest I've ever tasted. And, the restaurant is the perfect intimate size that makes you feel like you're in Italy. This is the perfect place to visit on a regular basis so you can rotate through the menu. I could go on.... read more

I had dinner here with a friend Sat night, August 3rd, & it was wonderful! We were visiting from Seattle and staying in a hotel just a couple blocks away. It was warm out but comfortable, so we walked over and decided to sit outside. They had about half a dozen cute round tables, like being at a sidewalk café in Paris! Or maybe in this case I should say Rome. Our waiter, Tyson, was so friendly & helpful! He was able to answer all of our questions and guide us to making successful decisions as to our cocktails and dinner. My cocktail, which I forget the name of, had basil and raspberry, and several other things... (LOL) it was on ice and was just sweet enough and very refreshing for a summer evening My friend and I shared a small Caesar salad, which was very tasty. Then I had the spaghetti carbonara which was excellent and just the right portion. My friend had the rigatoni with papardelle pasta; she loved it (and I loved my taste of it as well) but it was a large portion. Had we been at home, I'm sure she would've brought it home to have for lunch, but as we were staying in a hotel, had to leave the leftovers behind. We finished off our meal by sharing a vanilla bean crème brûlée. It was sumptuous! Had that wonderful sugar on the top, which we happily cracked into and the Brulé itself was smooth and delicious. It was one of those perfect restaurant experiences, and I/we certainly will plan to go back the next time in Portland! -Oh, by the way, this was the Pearl district and it felt very safe to us. Everywhere we walked in the area was fine , no homeless to be seen. That's not the case in all areas of Portland, but even in those, as long as you don't interact with the less savory characters, generally, there's nothing to worry about. Thanks for a great evening, Tyson! (They should give you a raise!) read more

An old place with interesting graffiti and mirrors, small tables, a tiny bar and more seating in a loft. On this warm evening several tables had spilled out on the sidewalk next to this low-traffic urban street. We shared the crispy calamari and dishes of meatballs and Vegetables. The sliced, roasted, and dressed zucchini was the best and most surprising I have ever eaten. Every once in a while something surprises my taste buds and excites me. I never thought it would be zucchini. You come too, but save some of the Vegetable dish for me. read more

YUMMY food and drinks at this place. The wait and bar staff are super friendly and always willing to answer any questions or make helpful recommendations. Perfect little spot for a date or simply just to meet up with a friend or loved one. Their prices are also reasonable and seem fair. I was craving Italian food and this amazing restaurant happened to be right across my hotel when visiting Portland. And it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious. We went here for our anniversary dinner with our two teenage kids and sat outside in the covered patio area. They do take reservations, but not for the patio. The inside space is on two levels, and great for date night or groups of 4 people. There's also a private dining space next door. Overall, we enjoyed the food and wine. We weren't blown away by anything and some dishes stood out above the others, but it's definitely worth a visit. Polenta Fries - nice and crispy on the outside, served with a spicy dipping sauce (which we think is the same as the calamari sauce). Calamari - my daughter wasn't a fan (and she loves calamari) but I really liked how nicely the calamari was cooked and the slight sweet/salty combo of the seasoning in the breading. Spaghetti Carbonara - my son loves carbonara and the one at Allora got two thumbs up. I had a taste and it was, indeed, delicious! Rigatoni Pomodoro e Prosciutto - my husband ordered this and we loved it. The sauce was just right and while he didn't care for the way the prosciutto was sort of just torn by hand and thrown into the dish, it tasted amazing. Spaghetti al Sugo di Carne - I was sadly disappointed in the dish I ordered. The spaghetti tasted old and stale (totally different than the spaghetti that came with my son's carbonara), and the sauce was very bland. I love sugo di carne at most Italian restaurants; this one was a miss. The wine list is a solid list. My husband had a glass of Chianti and I had a glass of Nebbiolo; both were enjoyable. You'll pay $3 for a half order or $6 for a full order of focaccia bread with olive oil. The bread has some red pepper flakes so some bites have a little kick, but the bread itself was fluffy and tasted fresh. Overall, Allora is still a nice neighborhood Italian eatery and I look forward to visiting again. It's a great spot for a glass of wine with friends! read more

Stopped in here with a date recently on a Friday night. We didn't need to wait long for a table but it was busy enough to have good atmosphere. The experience was mixed, with the ambiance standing out as the biggest positive. The food we got was average; not bad, but not outstanding. We got the burrata, house made focaccia, Spaghetti Amatriciana, Spaghetti Basilico, and the tiramisu. Nothing was objectionable but there were truly no standouts. The service was a bit odd. Our server constantly checked in on us and even when not checking in would walk by eyeing us or hovering. For example she asked if she could bring us the check and my date had just ordered another glass of wine. She brought us the check along with our dessert. It felt like we were being rushed the whole time despite there being no line for tables and in fact a few open ones. The space was really cute and I'd happily come back here as a cozy date spot, but would stick to drinks. read more

It was day before Mother's Day 2023 and me and my wife celebrating my birthday. This location is cross the street from the hotel we staying in Portland. I walked in and the it's around 7:30. The first thing the guy said was do you have reservations?. I said no and they arranged a table for us. Food was good calamari was even great, but it took more than 15 minutes for someone to come and get out order. They all service the people downstairs. The girl who working there going up and down in a hurry but never bother to ask anything. Anytime we say something or even thank you her reply was ok. No friendly remarks what so ever.
