My boyfriend requested penne carbonara which they were pleased to do instead of spaghetti
Katie O.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch two weeks ago after we got off the Rose City Hop-On, Hop-Off Trolley tour. We had such a delicious lunch date at Pastini. The waiter was so attentive and very friendly, as was the manager. The restaurant played old Italian favorites and had a nice ambiance with fun decor on the wall. I loved the lunch portion sizes as it was enough to eat. We got the garlic bread as an appetizer. My boyfriend got the pasta carbonara which was delicious. I got something and wasn't so keen on it so I ordered the carbonara too. And I would have been fine for paying for the first item but they took it off the bill which was very nice. The manager said that they will never make you pay for something you didn't enjoy. Thank you for such a nice experience!

Pastini I'm back! It had been over a decade since my last trip to pastini. This location popped up as being nearby to our activity we were doing later that night, so it was the perfect opportunity to go back. I went for the braised beef ravioli. With chunks of beef inside, it was so savory. You could definitely taste the wine inside the sauce.Pasta was the perfect texture. Loved dipping my bread into the sauce. I do wish temperature wise though, it was a little hotter. My bf also enjoyed his shrimp scampi pasta. Service was great. I loved the look of this place, very modern.

Very disappointed with the whole experience. The only positive was our server but we didn't even get her name. We were offered a table and asked to possibly not be next to a party of 7. Once sat we ordered the Bolognese and the Braised Shirt Rib Ravioli. Both had no flavor at all and the sauces were watery. We had really high hopes but will keep searching.

We came here for dinner and had a really nice experience! I ordered the spicy shrimp fettuccine -- it wasn't super spicy, but it was so good. The flavors were rich and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I also had a salad- super fresh and well-balanced. The staff was great too -- really friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, it was a lovely meal in a nice atmosphere.

I went to Pastini for lunch and so glad I got there early because by the time I left, it was packed. The restaurant was very clean, bright, and inviting. I decided to try the linguine with shrimp scampi. The pasta tasted very good. It was seasoned very well and almost had an authentic taste to the dish. I also tried their almond biscotti cookie for dessert. The cookie was just ok. It was very crispy, which I like, but it wasn't very sweet. All in all, great service and great visit. Would definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

A great place for dinner in downtown Portland. The ravioli was delicious and the staff warm and welcoming. If you are looking for Italian in downtown Portland this is a great place to go.

We were in town for the weekend because I was running a half marathon there. As such, I was in carb loading mode and wanted pasta. We found this place on Yelp and it had good ratings, plus it was close to our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It lived up to the good ratings! In fact we enjoyed it so much that we went back for dinner the next night too! We got there after the dinner rush both nights so we did not have to wait for a table. Upon sitting down we both noticed the decor and the atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or dinner with a friend. Our server, Alexandra, was very friendly and helpful. She went over the menu with us and recommended some wines. We had a glass of the Shallow Seas Rosé and the DiLenardo Pinot Grigio. Both were great! For our meals the first night, I ordered the braised short rib ravioli and my friend ordered the tortellini Gorgonzola with chicken. Our meals came out in a timely manner and both dishes were excellently prepared! So full of flavor! We were thoroughly delighted! The next night when we went back, it was more of the same great service (from Alexandra again), and atmosphere. This time I ordered spaghetti and meatballs which was perfect the night before the race. My friend ordered the mac & cheese. Again we thoroughly enjoyed our meals just like the night before! If you are looking for a good Italian meal in downtown Portland, look no further than Pastini!

3/15/2025 - The stroganoff on their winter menu is pretty delicious! Especially with a side of sautéed spinach.

I live in Beaverton and genuinely have become a huge fan of Pastini when I get delivery because it is always accurate and delicious. I have 'my order' but I cannot get the kids menu when sitting in the restaurant as I want a smaller portion. I just wanted to be upfront with how I do things... I go to a lot of events at the Schnitzer which is 2 blocks away. White Bird dance performances have a relationship with 4 different restaurants downtown, including this Pastini. Their discount is wonderful at 20% off within the week of your tickets which is so great because going to dinner before a show that night is a messy thing to do. I want to enjoy my dinner, not have to drop the leftovers at the car etc... My tickets for that show are Wednesday but on Saturday me and a friend were going to see a quartet performance nearby fairly early, leaving us free for dinner around 5pm. We decided to give it a go and had that realization of how busy they would be but genuinely was told it would be ten minutes and it really was! A lot of times you get told that and an hour later... so I really appreciate an accurate time table. I also appreciate fast service and friendly service. She was amazing and got us accurate answers to our inquiries, My friend is a vegan and loved the amount of options and also that she was getting such great input like, "Hay, other vegans order this a lot...". My friend explained that she is not allergic and is not bit psycho about her veganism etc... I loved that the waitress said she wanted to honor her food choices regardless. Unfortunately they ran out of garlic bread but I was not mad about the vat of their regular bread I was given. Having just seen a Russian composer I went for their stroganoff with a side of sautéed spinach. A favorite thing of mine with Pastini is that they have all these incredible vegetable sides with truly perfectly cooked vegetables. Pro tip - order the veggie medley or sautéed spinach to eat with your pasta. So beyond amazing! I am not big into chain restaurants but this really is such a great chain though I do suggest a reservation during busy times though we did get in just fine but that is easier with a party of two.

Caprese Salad

We came into this restaurant before a show, and our timing was perfect. We were seated after only a 15-minute wait following a quick name placement. Since we had already reviewed the menu and needed to maintain a brisk pace to make our show, we had our orders ready. Our server approached our table almost immediately; she was friendly and appreciative that we had our orders prepared for her. Our drinks were served quickly, and she proactively offered refills. The food was delicious--the Caprese salad was amazing and flavorful, and the pasta dishes were equally good. This is a place I would absolutely revisit. It's a perfect, convenient spot for a nice pre-show dinner, particularly if you are going to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. I was very pleased with the entire experience and would certainly return.

My girlfriend has celiac so we landed at Pastini based on their gluten free options. We really enjoyed our experience. Our meal was delicious. Server was welcoming and had great suggestions for us (as visitors from out of state). We would definitely return.

We ordered $22 plates of pasta Make sure you pay the extra $4 for the sauce otherwise you'll just have $22 worth of raw unflavored pasta Much better to have $26 plate of pasta with sauce

Sterling P.

Went after most people would have had lunch. So fairly quiet! For an Italian restaurant food came out fast. Ice tea was excellent as was the lemonade with free refills. Everyone's food was very tasty and more than enough for a lunch meal. Tomato sauce was as good as homemade, spicy sauce was great coupled with perfectly cooked noodles. Nice croutons on the well dressed salads. Will we go back, you betcha. I don't know how they do lunches for $13.00 a person. By the way the place is spotless.

We ordered the Carbonara with bucatini, pancetta, percorino cheese and topped with a soft fried egg $15. This was so delicious and flavorful. The hand crafted Pasta was sooo good. The combination of the soft egg yolk, the savory pancetta and sheep's milk cheese bought this pasta to a whole another level. The same can be said about the Burrata Panzanella $16 made with heirloom tomatoes and tossed in a sherry vinaigrette was sooo good. I could really taste the clean freshness and quality of the ingredients. Overall, a really bright modern interior, with good quality food at great prices. Piazza's menu is northern Italian and traditional the Italian American marriage we all know and love. It's what Olive Garden promises: to treat you like an Italian family member. When you walk in most of the employees snipe at each other in Italian. Cured meats hang from the ceiling and soccer plays in the background. That's like every actual Italian restaurant I've been to. Their wine list is simple and ultimately not that impressive. It's there to accentuate the food. They have a solid spritz. Whether you choose a dish with fresh pasta or dried (they serve both, depending on the dish) it'll be prepared beautifully. I've been coming here for years and I've tried nearly every one on the menu. Last night I even shook it up and got it delivered: the quality still held. I understand the use of cream and cheese in these dishes but it lacked some freshness that I would have hoped from a classic spot such as this. Maybe there's some better dishes to order but our first impression was not great.
