    Spaghetti and meatballs
    Alyssa V.

Grassa is a great place to grab some fresh made noodles in house. The pesto, spaghetti and meatballs, their Mac and cheese is very delicious. I love getting their garlic bread. They have a good lunch special that's called the lunch rush is such a great deal. They even do seasonal dishes that are always good. Highly recommend coming here for some pasta.

We drove by Grassa many times on our way to morning coffee and always noted we wanted to try them. I feel lucky to have gone twice now in the last few weeks. My hubby and I attended a rainy Bird Alliance of Oregon event on Sauvie Island a few weekends ago, but couldn't decide what we wanted for our late lunch until I remembered Grassa. We're so glad we made the stop because a bowl of pasta was just what the cold rainy day needed. Grassa is a casual, order at the counter restaurant and they bring your food to you. They have a good selection of noodle types and sauces, salads, and appetizers. The staff is super friendly and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location on 23d is open and light-filled.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On that trip I had the Swiss Chard and Ricotta Caramelle, hubby had the Rigatoni with Sunday Pork Rage and we split a Noodle Week special which was a deconstructed pork noodle bowl. Everything we had was incredibly delicious and came out quickly. I have to be fully transparent that I'm not the biggest fan of ricotta, but the caramelle was unexpectedly delicious. They had just added it to the menu that day (21 February 2026) and I was the first to order it! It's a dish I would happily order again. I hope they bring the pork noodle bowl back because I could have eaten a bathtub sized portion of that alone. Today was my second visit and my dining date was our daughter. We were peckish after a Portland Nursery trip and I was happy to see there was another location close to us in Hawthorne. We shared the Brussels sprouts appetizer (YUM!!!), she had the Fusilli Alla Vodka, and I had the Black Truffle Pappardelle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Hawthorne location was equally open and airy with friendly service and quick food service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We both loved the Brussel sprouts and both of our pastas were flavorful and cooked perfectly. Grassa is a wonderful choice if you are craving a warm, comforting bowl of fresh-made pasta with delicious sauce options and don't want to break the bank. Mangia!

Pasta at 3PM? Sure. While visiting Portland's Nob Hill area, we decided to try the restaurant after seeing its sister store at the airport terminal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, it was quite spacious with modern decor, open kitchen, and seating for 80+ guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After browsing through the overhead menu, we placed our orders at the entrance counter and proceeded to an available table. We ordered the following dishes (arrived in 20 minutes): Rigatoni: The tomato based sauce was light but savory. The shredded pork pieces were well seasoned, soft and tender. The rigatoni noodles were perfectly cooked, and the sprinkled cheese added a nice texture and flavor to the dish. Squid Ink Spaghetti: The noodles were exquisitely dark and quite al dente. The sauce was savory, spicy, and a tad tangy. The chili in the nduja butter had quite a kick and really elevated the flavor of this dish a couple of notches. The small claims were plump and delicious. The portions were sensible and prices reasonable. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.

I've seen quite a few people mention wait times here... I find that interesting. So you don't want fresh food then? You'd rather have that food come out quickly, and be warmed up? Just think about it. "Made to order", means it's prepared after the order is placed. Do these people that complain think that's easy to achieve? In a restaurant that has customers in the dining room, and to go orders? I found this cute little place online. After asking several people at my hotel, I decided to have dinner there. I was pleasantly impressed! Pasta is my favorite, and I really enjoyed the Vodka sauce!!! Extremely tasty! The meatballs were almost as good as the ones I make. Delish! The garlic bread was just the way I like it. Nice and garlicky. Soft on the inside, and not too crispy on the outside. I can't wait to come back, so I can try other things. I was kind of bummed out that they did not have any shrimp dishes. Especially after seeing all the pics on Yelp. It's nice to have at least one seafood pasta dish. Hopefully they will have one when I am in town again. ^ The watermelon cocktail was really yummy... Grazie

I found this place through social media and was surprised when I walked in and found that it was dining where you order at the counter. Came here for a late lunch and tried the black truffle pappardelle and a caesar salad. The salad was nice and crisp with delicious croutons and the pasta was very filling. A little on the salty side but as a fan of truffle I was in heaven. I was a little disappointed in their options for meat. Every single meat dish includes pork, so I had to opt for a vegetarian pasta. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall vibe of the place is very laid back and perfect for a lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I didn't expect to be yanked out of my pasta comfort zone -- but wow, was I glad I was. My kids picked Grassa, hoping for a classic Italian night. I came craving lasagna or fettuccine Alfredo. Spoiler alert: Grassa doesn't do the usual suspects. No problem. I pivoted and ordered the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese. Let me tell you -- that dish was next-level. The pork belly was rich and savory, the pasta creamy and indulgent. I kept going back and forth trying to decide which part I loved more. Honestly? It was perfect. Marlene went with the Fusilli Alla Vodka. The portion was huge -- she tapped out halfway through, so I "helped." One bite turned into five, and yeah... I finished it. Smooth, spicy, and ridiculously good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space itself is open and lively, filled with families laughing and soaking up the evening. Big windows frame the neighborhood vibe, and every staff member greeted us with warmth and a smile.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Grassa didn't just serve dinner -- it served a reminder that stepping outside your go-to order can lead to something unforgettable.

Grassa is a PNW chain eatery serving up some delicious Italian food. This location is in Northwest Portland where there is street parking all around the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, they have a modern and spacious setup with a good amount of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For their menu, they have a nice selection of different side and pasta dishes to choose from. Wifey opted for the Black Truffle Pappardelle, I got the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese, and we got a side of the Grassa Meatballs. Everything that we had tasted fresh and delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience here. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great spot to grab a bite with a date, friends, or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pork Belly Mac & Cheese ...must get
    Connie C.

Five stars for the pork belly mac (btw when I saw Grassa at the airport I knew I had to order it again to go! I didn't eat it until I got home, and it was just as delicious)! I love the big pasta that they use for this dish, so much so I looked up what Grassa uses in this dish! Turns out it's ribbed lumache ("snails" style). Both times I ordered it, it was cooked perfectly al dente and the pork belly is chunky, and slightly sweet. I am a sucker for a sweet and savory combo, so this was the perfect dish for me. The watermelon salad was a memorable highlight too, refreshing and perfect for summer. I believe the salad is seasonal, but I also appreciate seasonal dishes as a way to mix things up for regulars. I also got a cocktail, the Pictures of Lily (gin, creme of violette, triple sec, lemon) but they ran out of lemon so I asked if lime would taste good in it. The server was so nice to say if I didn't like it he could change it for me. But it tasted pretty good, so I didn't ask for a new drink but appreciated the option. I thought the cocktail menu was unique, everything on the cocktail menu looked good! We ordered a few other dishes but they are already fading from my memory...but most importantly, I would highly recommend the pork belly mac and watermelon salad!

Absolutely the star of our trip up to Portland. Staff was friendly and helpful in making our decisions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very clean and having the kitchen visible from the dining area (including being able to see the pasta being made) made our experience very enjoyable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was an absolute knockout. The pasta was all cooked perfectly and I am very happy that they weren't afraid to use a heavy hand with the peppers on the radiatori. It's also a nice throwback to get an Italian soda, the orange cream was a great addition to the meal. Hope I get to make a trip back up this way soon so I can come back.

Pasta and salads as well as drinks never disappoint but 45' wait for the meals.... You decide if it is worth it. At least you can walk 10' and get some salt n straw as an appetizer,

Grassa is my go-to casual pasta dining place in Portland. Every time I eat at Grassa, it is always amazing. Grassa does have many locations, but I always go to their Nob Hill location. Such friendly staff. They always made sure we had enough plates and napkins since we were doing family style. For sharables/apps, we ordered the garlic bread and brussels sprouts. For our pasta we ordered Carbonara, Fusilli Alla Vodka, and Rigatoni. The brussels sprouts are a must. They are delicious every time I order them. For pasta, my favorite was the Fusilli Alla Vodka and the Rigatoni. Both pastas were cooked to perfection and the ratio of pasta sauce to pasta and meat was spot on. The portions for both the pasta and the appetizers are generous and make tasty leftovers. Their menu is clear and they do not have an abundance of options which I enjoy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Nob Hill location specifically has lots of community seating great for large parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Deliciously fresh pasta. Not too many choices, great vs cocktails. Overall a nice welcoming experience. We sat outside, it was a nice evening. Definitely stop by if you want some fresh pasta!

I loved the fusilli alla vodka! the sauce was bright, tart, and paired well with the italian sausage. there was a generous amount of sausage which I appreciated as I didn't feel the need to ration it. the pasta was cooked beautifully al dente. I love when my pasta has a good chew and bite to it. there was already red pepper flakes in the sauce but I prefer mine super spicy so I ended up adding a lot more. simple dish but perfectly executed :)

One drink and the "Employee Health" charge of an additional 5% made the bill $163.80 before tip. Okay, so that's the not inexpensive part. As for the food, there were several great dishes. I was not wild about the salad we got, The Crunchmaster Crisp, the my friend said a different one she had previously was really good. We got the Crusty Avocado - seeds coat the outside and inside the avocado is filled with Ahi tuna. That was a good dish. We also had Garden Peas which were pretty good. The trout was excellent, the Fried Chicken was unique, and quite good. We got a couple of the skewers (they're small!), the pork belly and the steak and both were great. I could have ordered several and made a meal out of those! The Milk Chocolate dessert was good, but I wasn't a big fan of the "baby popcorn". The Whip-a-licious was well liked by my friend. It was better than I thought it would be because I'm not a big passion fruit fan. Our service was excellent. All together, I definitely recommend for the food, atmosphere, and service. Overall, the experience was fun, but the food didn't quite live up to it for me. The menu feels more like tapas or shareable small plates, so expect to order several dishes if you're hungry. I also found the portions to be pretty small for the price. Refer to the photos. We came here for date night in March and were seated on the outdoor patio. Although they had heat lamps, it was still pretty chilly. The drinks, however, were the highlight of the evening. Mine even came with a fun little elixir shot on top, so cute! Be sure to make a reservation because this place gets busy. While I probably wouldn't come back for the food - I'd definitely stop in again for the cocktails and the atmosphere.

I've only eaten outside, so I have no idea what the inside experience is like. Outside, it's a sheltered patio with heaters if needed and a few small tables against the building as well. Bonus for this area in general is that it's a great place to walk around and window shop, and it's relatively close to the Japanese and Rose Gardens (by car).

While they weren't as crispy as I would've wanted - I would say while some parts were, most of it was on the softer side - I did think that they were seasoned excellently. They also paired quite well with the mayo-based sauces we received. Moving onto the burger, I really enjoyed this. When I've had tofu on a burger in the past - it's usually been in smaller pieces - so getting such a massive piece that sticks out on either end of the burger was really nice. In addition, the breading was good - while not super-present. I quite liked the fact that it was very lightly breaded - meaning the huge patty was like 95% tofu - leaving the tofu to stand on its own as the majority of the bite. The buns were alright - I'm not big into vegan buns - but I didn't mind these The mustard sauce was also pretty good I will say, although I did order the Mr. Onion burger so I should've known what I was getting myself into, but there were just way too many onions on this burger. It was to the point where they absolutely dominated the taste of my first bite. I had to remove a lot of them from the bottom of the burger to actually make this edible. For the price, it is a bit expensive - but it's also quite filling so I didn't mind it. I also have to mention - because my burger was late, as a gift they brought out a full set of pastries/cookies in a box. This was incredibly surprising and something I've never seen another restaurant do. Major props for that

The BLT was delicious, filled with ripe tomatoes, crisp bacon, and shredded lettuce. The choco chip cookie is rich, buttery, and delicious.
