Ended up here for a bite before heading over to the lighthouse tour. It was during my birthday month so I was able to get $10 off my purchase since I had signed up for their rewards program via local by toast in advance! I got the Root Spring Soup which consisted of Pea, Leek, Potato, Spinach, Mint, Dill. The combination had an enjoyable texture and was well balanced in flavor. I also took the chocolate chip cookie to go and had it later that day. It was average, but good in that those on a gluten free diet could have some too. Decor was cute with a mural of garden vegetables. Service was excellent. I'd stop by again if in the area.

This is my new favorite place! There were more vegan options than not at a very affordable place! I was overwhelmed with choices because they were all so delicious (and vegan!). I decided to try the Korean BBQ wrap, and it was absolutely flavorful and tasty. The ambiance of the place was cozy and inviting, with nicely set tables. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place!

WOW! To think we almost turned around to leave. From the pics on Yelp we thought it was more upscale but it's very casual! You place your order then find a table and they bring it to you! After reviewing the menu we decided to stay and give it a go! SO GLAD WE DID! I had the butternut squash soup and Oh My was it delicious! A very generous serving creamy thick and slightly sweet topped with a swirl of cream and toasted pumpkin seeds! You could taste the ginger but it was not offensive! I paired it with the Fried Oyster Po Boy - home run on taste again! Stacked high with lightly battered very well seasoned oyster mushrooms on a hearty bun topped with lettuce - house made pickles- lettuce- and spicy aioli - THIS SANDWICH WAS THE BOMB! My hubby enjoyed his Salmon Burger topped with a basil aioli along with other trimmings! I had a nice Strawberry Hibiscus Tea/Lemonade it was perfect by my taste as no added sugar which I prefer! We finished it off by sharing a butternut apple bread pudding with caramel sauce! Boy was it good. Again not sickly sweet just right - rich caramel and huge chunks of apple. The staff is very friendly even checking to ensure nothing had nuts due to my allergies and the place is organic feeling and they locally source. It's small with only 7-8 tables but it was not crowded at the time we arrived. Seems like they do a good book of carry out orders!

In search of vegan dishes I searched Yelp in the Hawthorne NY area and it took me to Sleepy Hollow NY where I scored big time . Going inside Grass Roots Kitchen was a breath of fresh air. The aesthetics put me in the mind of earth day and such beautiful paintings on the wall and flowers and greenery throughout. Grass Roots Kitchen offers have high tops dining as well as, regular dining, and outside dining. The dining area is pretty large, length wise and beautifully attractive. I ordered the egg and cheese biscuit with the help of the cashier, I didn't get her name and it's on the receipt but I threw it out. Even though this was not a vegan dish, who could pass on a collosal cheese biscuit. The egg was a nice accompaniment to this cheese biscuit also. The lady that gave me the biscuits said, wow! That smells nice. I thought she was giving me a compliment on the order until I sniffed the bag. Normally I don't do well with my sense of smell but, boy oh boy! That was a gooooooood smelling biscuit. And the taste, it tastes so good, it makes you want to slap yo momma. (Don't do it, it just makes you want to slap her.) Needless to say, I really enjoyed this cheese biscuit. In hindsight I guess I could have grabbed a hot drink, maybe next time, and there will be a next time because I told the lady that this was my first time and at the restuarant and I'm new in the area. She said she's looking forward to seeing me again. I'm looking forward to more eats and treats or treats and eats. Whatever it is, just ... Inspire more, Yelp more!

Beautiful city on the Hudson River. They cater to all diets. My brother-in-law got the salmon sandwich. My husband and he got the vegan chili. My husband loved the Philly cheesesteak vegan burrito. I loved the tofu scramble and roots salad.

Delicious food prepared with skill and artistry. My favorite lunch place in Tarrytown. I've had just about everything on the menu. Highly recommend this place!

Grassroots kitchen was a good way to kickstart our Tarrytown weekend. Healthy options all around. From drinks, soups, meals - something for everyone who views the menu. Comfortable and small. Spacious for a bigger group towards the back or a few seats at the front.

Fantastic venue. I wish there was something like this in every city. Delicious offerings with excellent service. Grass Roots Kitchen in Tarrytown is a casual eatery associated with the Sweet Grass Grill and Tomatillo. You can go order at the front desk and then sit for your food. We had some amazing chocolate chia pudding, cookies, buckwheat pancakes (my favorite), and kombucha (terrible nutritional information suggesting that there are less carbs than sugar), and coconut chocolate bites. I highly recommend. Explore their website's menu.

They're also committed to cutting out the middleman, such as a store, market, or distributor. Located in the heart of Tarrytown on Main Street, we decided to meet up for brunch at Sweet Grass Grill. The reservation was easily made via Yelp. Al fresco seating filled the sidewalks in front of the dog-friendly eatery, and the open door allows chitchat to move freely in and out, creating a lively yet comfortable vibe. Upon entering as first-timers, the wooden bar commands attention, where my partner, his family, and I were greeted by the staff. The bar top is made from a slab of wood salvaged from a single fallen oak tree on the Rockefeller Preserve. We got a cozy table at the front window inside a bright, airy interior with earthy accent colors. Their menu features rustic New American cuisine with many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options that change with the seasons. We decided on the Veggie Buffalo "Wings" with a side of fries, the Grass-Fed Cheeseburger, the Mushroom "Cheesesteak," and Maine Mussels. Complimentary vegan banana bread started our meal. Every dish at our table was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and full of flavor. Reasonable price, and the service was attentive, warm, genuinely welcoming, and patient. Our server was Terence. Voted Best of Westchester, it was a wonderful experience, and we can't wait for a repeat performance.

Everything tastes delicious. Homemade desserts. Timeless, cozy decor. Yes, the streets of Nyack have a seedy crowd roaming the streets these days, but Hudson House still sits on the main drag among it all. There's street parking or a large parking lot across the street. Free after 7. Everything I've had here is delicious. We came recently with colleagues to celebrate a special event. My favorite cocktail is still the port Old Fashioned... possibly because I won't try others. Wines are good here too. The hamachi, tuna and gnudi appetizers were outstanding. So flavorful, fresh, balanced. All three were different and simply so good. At the table this evening, we tried short rib, steaks, Brussels sprouts, beet salad, lentil pea soup and my favorite, the Berkshire pork chop. OMG, that chop is unlike anything else... and they consistently execute it. Crisp, seasoned exterior, amazing juicy interior. Served on a medley of assorted beans, peppers and chorizo. It's hard to order anything else when it's this good. With 7 of us at the table, we ordered 8 desserts. They're that good here. I tried a special this evening, which was a blueberry pudding something with a crust and ice cream on it, and I don't know. It was yummy and creamy and blueberry yumminess. Everyone at the table raved about the sticky toffee pudding, which supposedly is a customer favorite here. Overall, awesome night. Everyone at the table said they'd come back and even our grumpiest co-worker gave it a thumbs up!

We got to enjoy the cafeteria lunch (must make reservation) and enjoyed every part of it. The sliced wheat bread was soft and flavorful and stood up to the task of carrying the whipped ricotta and pickled cucumber topping. Everything was perfectly balanced. My family I enjoyed the thinly sliced pastrami that they then laid on top of the toast. I enjoyed the thinly sliced roasted root vegetable that I placed on top for the vegetarian version. Come early if you can so you don't miss anything. The tour is really cool - I could listen to their seedy stories all day. It is an incredible meal. Everything is fresh, and it's just amazing to try all these flavorful veggies and realize that all food can and should taste this good. Our starters include a fresh stalk of fennel, cucumber with yogurt, spinach lettuce to be snipped with scissors, etc, etc, omg so much more. We got a lot of asparagus and peas made in many ways, and it was magical. There are fascinating food lessons throughout the meal, as we're introduced to the four plants in the buckwheat family with a delicious "horseradish tofu" and buckwheat dumplings in dashi. Purple Passion Asparagus is literally the best vegetable I've ever tasted - all the sweetness of asparagus amplifed with literally none of the unpleasant fibrous stalks. I also loved trying an egg from a waste-fed chicken. The bread was pretty burnt on the bottom so the taste was a bit off-putting. Unfortunate as it was really interesting to try the single udder butters. Getting to see chef Dan up close was awesome (sorry, chef, I'm the weirdo who took 50 photos of you). And yes, I did ask and the staff assured me it was okay. Every table gets a different menu, and I can honestly say I loved everything I ate. Altogether, it's the most amazing experience - I have never sat down to dinner at 5 PM and not left the table until 11, and the food is so fresh and so good that I still felt good after eating so much. My only advice is that you should definitely ask for something if you want it. My fault for forgetting to ask - I would have really liked to try the veal, and it also sucked to get just steak while the table next to me got bone marrow. That said, I would still highly recommend this experience and would absolutely come back for more.
