Everything eaten is freshly grown and made at the farm. The farm/restaurant is very eco-friendly, and I could taste it in the food. Everything was flavorful, and my favorite dish was the cake. The staff is very sweet and explained how the farm operates. The land, interior, and farm are beautiful as well.

My partner and I came for the open house and the research showcase was the highlight of our experience - we really saw the passion & dedication of the chefs that work here + all the fun experiments that they do on various ingredients from buckwheat to animal feeds to potatoes. There are samples from each of the stations & you got to explore it at your own pace - definitely worth a visit just for this. The culinary demo (quiche making) was also quite fun & tasty - we'll definitely try to make one ourselves!! However, we felt very meh about the actual cafeteria lunch - it was ok but probably not worth a visit for that in & of itself - the gazpacho was good but I didn't love the salad (somewhat plain) & the open faced sandwich was only ok (nothing spectacular or unique). Tbh it was a bit of a let down after the showcase & if we'd come only for this, I'd have been disappointed (especially since the lunch itself was ~$50 per person - I'm not sure if it's worth this price?). The farm itself is otherwise nice to walk around with many beautiful flowers & trails The overall experience was probably a 3.5 but I'm rounding it up to a 4 since I liked the research showcase + culinary demo

Made trip to Tarrytown for Sunday outing. We had the lunch tray in the cafeteria (need to reserve). The corn soup was delicious and everything was fresh and light. It was a beautiful day to walk around and see the farm and buildings.

I can't believe Blue Hill has anything less than 5 stars. Out of all the dinners I've had, this has to be in my top 2 and I'm eager to come back a different season to see what surprises they have cooked up. If you haven't already, please watch the Chef's Table episode about Blue Hill! It really puts into perspective how much curation goes into the meal (micromanagement of ingredients to the highest degree). Literally the best vegetables I've had in my life. Dinner is definitely a journey; we ate for around 4 hours. It starts with a short tour of the farm. The main dining room is nicely curated. They start courses with an assortment of farm-to-table vegetables, then move into fish and red meat. There are a few dishes that are just unbelievably creative -- you'll have to experience it firsthand. At the end they send you home with gifts :) Can't wait to come back!

Dining at Blue Hill at Stone Barns is less of a meal and more of an immersive experience; one that redefines what a restaurant can be. It is both elegant and rooted in deep respect for the land. The food is thoughtful, precise, and deeply connected to place. Expect surprises: a single bite of just-picked lettuce dressed in herb oil may arrive with the same reverence as a slow-roasted cut of pasture-raised meat. Everything tells a story--from the compost-aged carrots to the inventive use of food waste in flavor-packed sauces and snacks.

We have lunch here with some friends and this place is soo nice. The lunch is cafeteria style and a set menu. Everything we had was delicious and unique. Loved that showcase the local farms they get their produce from and I can imagine it being so amazing to walk around their gardens in the summer. Definitely a splurge lunch but worth it for a special occasion.

We dined at the community table, which is $125pp, not including booking fees and mandatory gratuity. You pay the full amount when you book in advance. Reservation only, but not hard to get one. The food was delicious of course! It's a prefixed menu. They're very vegetable forward, but that's their thing being a farm and all, and the veggies are great. If you want to know what we were served, I'll include it at the end of the review. My only issue with the food is that even food that was supposed to be hot (the third course with meat and risotto) was cold. That's a problem for the price tag and establishment. The base wine pairing was absolutely fantastic, and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. Onto our waiter though, he really was fumbling. Not with service, but this kind of place has a script where they explain exactly what's on your plate, how it's grown, what the goal of growing this at the farm is, techniques they've improved, etc. He was stumbling over his words with it, which is something I don't appreciate for the level of establishment. So the reason I gave 4 stars is because for the price tag of ~$660/4 people, cold dishes and fumbling/rambling is not enough for 5 stars. But you should still go if you can! The community table is a great compromise for the main dining room which books out a year (minimum) in advance and is more than double the price. Meal: We were served a raw vegetable platter from their greenhouse, fresh bread, and brown butter for our first course. Very good, great presentation. The second course was a "fruit" salad, consisting of chicory and one other leaf, pine nuts, and a lovely dressing. Also good. Then for the third and main course we had osso buco, sausage that incorporated ancient grain, mashed parsnip, parsnip risotto, and roasted cauliflower with garlic flowers. Finally desert was apple crumble with lemon ice cream. SO GOOD. They also brought out a small cake desert for one as it was a birthday dinner.

I purchased an ice cream from the cafeteria. They provided a compostable spoon which shattered into many pieces when my young son ate the ice cream and swallowed the shards. See photo of the cutlery. It instantly shatters and is meant for show and not for food. Please do not use it on actual food. We ended up going to the emergency room and spent 6 hours there. The eco friendly cutlery they provide is defective and is a huge liability. I also ate their lunch menu, a scone, and the sheep's milk. It was good but was overshadowed by their poor selection of to-go cutlery. Not worth the risk! Please put a warning label on these utensils. I don't want to see others getting harmed.

I had been dying to try this place and am so glad I did. I've been to their location in the city but never here. The food is incredible! And don't be worried that it won't be enough --it's plenty! I got the wine pairing and it was also top-notch. The service is impeccable and the location is beautiful. If I lived closer I'd be a regular here!

We were lucky to be invited to the bastion of the magnificent Blue Hill at Stone Barns. This day for the Farm Tour and Lunch on their beautiful 16 acre farm in the town of Sleepy Hollow in Westchester NY. The tour staff and very educated Agricultural teachers are all well versed on the many agricultural aspects and minute details of growing and sustaining an organic farm. Everyone we spoke to really knew their craft: Baking, pickling, fermenting, grilling, and every type of meal prep you could imagine. The one hour tour of the grounds is followed by a cafeteria style Lunch served on a tray, of the various seasonal, mostly plant items available from the crops. There is meat available as well for us carnivores. The grounds and venue are quite beautiful. A very educational way to spend the afternoon. Thank you

*scary orchestral music plays* Welcome to Blue Hill. We harvest. We ferment. We slaughter. We marinate. We liquify. We spherify. WE GEL! All The Menu jokes aside, they are doing things like grinding animal bones into ceramic dust to make cups and plates here (among other wild things), and yeah I had the time of my life!!! I've wanted to come to Blue Hill at Stone Barns ever since the Chef's Table episode aired, but the stars never aligned - until my birthday in August 2023. My boyfriend and I celebrated with dinner here, and it exceeded all of our expectations! From the welcome beverage (corn lemonade) and informative tour (wear sun protection!) to the cocktails and kitchen bites, everything was very well thought out. The food menu was expansive, with some of my favorite moments being the onion, lamb and beans, sheep brains and desserts. What truly set Blue Hill apart for me, though, was the service. Our captain Willa was amazing, and all of the staff were eager to chat about food!! It made for a unique experience. (Chef Dan was also at work in the kitchen, which is always cool to see.) All in all, we were there for about 5 hours. A note about transit from NYC: took Metro North and an Uber there, and called an Uber home (was only about a 45 min drive back into the city, so you definitely do not need to stay overnight in Tarrytown or whatever).

Will Blue bill be continuing the Cafeteria lunch in Summer 2023?

Approximately when are seatings? We're hoping to make a trip from Massachusetts and are trying to know some logistics to plan for and plan around the rest of a trip.

We came from Boston, left at around 9am, and got there right on time at 1:30pm. The meal took about 3-4 hours, and we looked around the farm afterwards.

When's the best time to visit?

I have a waitlist for a reservation for two in Feb. I have emailed the booking platform and heard nothing back? Any suggestions on getting a confirmation?

What is the best way to get to the restaurant from Manhattan? How do we go back? Can we order an uber?

I used the driver the restaurant concierge suggested. Call them. Not sure Uber is readily available in that area.

Are there vegetarian options?

Their are so many vegetarian dishes. Because this is a multiple course unannounced tasting menu you must specify that you want all vegetarian beforehand. After eating as many delish vegetable dishes I saw the appeal of being a vegetarian.

First time visitor wondering on average how long does the tasting menu last? Also, how early should I arrive to explore the grounds? I'm not interested in the full farm tour but would like to walk around and shop the gift shop if they have one.

Ours was 3.5 hours. I wouldn't show up more than 30 minutes before-- it's nice for a walk but there's not a ton to see if you're not doing the tour. There is a small gift shop with food, gifts, and cookbooks, as well as a cafe.

Do they have a dress code?

We told Izzy our drink preferences and he nailed it each drink. We started with a dozen oysters that were incredible and shocked perfectly. Then followed that with the bone marrow which had a tasteful amount of chimichurri sauce and a side of crunchy salt to use for your liking. It was delicious! We were temped to next get the octopus but needed room for the "bar only specials" which is a brilliant idea very unique. It was a wagu blend cheese burger with arugula and a delicious black garlic spread and perfectly cooked fries. Perfect for sharing! A dinner isn't complete without an espresso martini! I highly recommend this place to any food enthusiast and fan of wine, spirits and excellent desserts. Lastly the decor was also amazing. The chef's not only designs top notch desserts he also did the wood work art along the bar. I also loved the pictures of all the people in the back of the restaurant over the course of there decades of business. Lastly the history is incredible it use to be the village hall and jailhouse! They incorporated the jail into a wine cellar that seats two people for a fun drink before or after dinner. Highly give this place a 10 out of 10 for excellent food, drink, service and vibes! The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

That smells nice. I thought she was giving me a compliment on the order until I sniffed the bag. Normally I don't do well with my sense of smell but, boy oh boy! That was a gooooooood smelling biscuit. And the taste, it tastes so good, it makes you want to slap yo momma. (Don't do it, it just makes you want to slap her.) Needless to say, I really enjoyed this cheese biscuit. In hindsight I guess I could have grabbed a hot drink, maybe next time, and there will be a next time because I told the lady that this was my first time and at the restuarant and I'm new in the area. She said she's looking forward to seeing me again. I'm looking forward to more eats and treats or treats and eats. Whatever it is, just ... Inspire more, Yelp more!

Other options at the Street Fair are good too (ie: Taqueria Poblanita nearby), however I will never stop loading up on the good stuff here.
