Since 30,000 miles my engine makes a very loud rattling sound every morning when I start it. Every morning it sounds like there isn't any oil in the engine. Grapevine Ford sold me an extended warranty. That is good news, since it looked like I would need it. I now have 62,000 miles and the start-up noise is twice as bad. The service department has a great team, but they are servicing Fords, so not good news. They can't repair the noise because the check engine light doesn't come on, so there are no emissions issues. Seriously, emissions light? What does that have to do with my engine sounding like it is falling apart every time I start it? I was told that the extended warranty company wouldn't cover it either, because the check engine light was not coming on. I finally went to a mechanic to ask what my engine issue was, and he said this a common problem with this Ford engine. The Cam Phasers are going out. Next, I had to find out what Cam Phasers even were! Again, I reached out to my service advisor at Grapevine Ford. What he told me really told me a lot about Ford Motor Company. He said that he and one of the dealer's mechanics had already had to replace the Cam Phasers on their vehicles. I asked him why he didn't tell me about this in the beginning? He then told me again that he couldn't fix the issue until the check engine light came on. I then went to my salesman, who instructed me to trade it in and let the next guy worry about it. Next, I called the extended warranty company, Mechanical Protection Plan, MPP, to try to get the issue covered under the warranty and was again told that if my check engine light doesn't come on, he doesn't have to do anything. There are no emissions problems. Simply amazing! Next, I tried to contact Ford directly. I left a voice message and after 2 days had not heard back from anyone. So then I decided that posting on 'X' might make a difference. I immediately received 2 responses. One, from a customer that had the same issue and he told me I was wasting my time trying to talk to Ford. He said they would talk to me and pass the information on. The other message was from Ford with a phone number to call. Had a great conversation with a nice lady, that basically said, "I understand your frustration, but there isn't anything I can do, I am just a social media person, but will pass the message on." Next, I was at the Texas State Fair. I spoke to the representatives there and a couple of the more seasoned people were aware of the engine problems. I was told they would look into it and get back to me. I really didn't expect anything, and didn't get disappointed. I wasn't at the fair for this reason, but it was interesting that they knew about the issue in this engine. With the pricing of the new F150's, trading is not an issue. Plus, I wouldn't pass this issue on to anyone else. Not sure what to do at this point.

This clerical failure caused immediate processing errors with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), keeping our official validation stickers in legal limbo and forcing my wife to physically return to the showroom months later to hunt down the missing state tags they failed to deliver. The one thing that we needed is the pickup and delivery for service since the vehicle we bought was for my mom. We were told that service has to be within a 35 mile radius. The service area desk area does not have great signage and when you do go wandering to find your tech - you have to dice with traffic coming into the service area itself as you have to cross over the other side. It would be simpler if there was a small help desk on the "waiting side". Speaking of the waiting side - pretty much ALL of the seating is worn through or could do with a deep cleaning (especially the extremely tired looking and forlorn 2 massage chairs that I wouldn't even dare to go near!) and even if that doesn't put you off - the music inside the dealership is being played at super loud night club levels!! They should really have a quiet room available for people who value their hearing! I was told I would receive the vehicle the next day, but delivery took a full week. The timeline changed several times, communication was inconsistent, and it was difficult to plan around my full-time work schedule. Throughout the week, I was told the delay was due to a parking sensor calibration. They only provided a loaner after the second day of waiting. During delivery, I noticed the passenger-side windshield wiper was missing. Two employees attempted to replace both wipers in the parking lot but were unable to complete the installation, and I left with the new wiper blades still in the back seat. Four days after taking delivery, I noticed a crack in the windshield near the driver's-side wiper. I contacted Steve Nafaa, General Sales Manager, who told me he believed it was caused by a rock before ever seeing the crack in person. Since he wasn't present during delivery or when the wipers were being replaced, I felt my concerns were dismissed instead of being fully reviewed. I later brought the vehicle back in and was told by Zach, the same salesperson who had attempted to install the wiper blades during delivery, that he did not believe the crack was related to the attempted installation. The handling of my concerns did not reflect the level of service I expected from a dealership that advertises itself as a top pre-owned dealer in DFW.

After looking up costs, found out the typical charge to replace motor mounts is between $550.00 and $750.00. Called then back to cancel and the service advisor was adamite that I have it done at the dealership. When informed of the normal market price, she wanted me to make an offer on the service. Obviously, they inflate the cost and unless you call them out; they will rip you off all day long. At the tender age of 77, I replaced the motor mounts myself in my garage for a total cost of $75.00 in about 6 hours. No, not a factory BMW part. Why They don't last over 40k miles. Why replace one headache with another? Bet a factory trained technician with hoist, tools, n help can do the same in less than 2 hours. Not that hard. $2,400.00? Unfortunately, this time around was a completely different experience. My biggest issue is with their $2,500 "luxury package." It is listed as a line item, but we were told it could not be removed. The package supposedly includes several things, including having the vehicle detailed inside and out. If you are going to require someone to pay $2,500 for a package, then I feel like the things included in that package should actually be done and done to a high standard. We initially looked at an Armada. There were broken and missing pieces on the vehicle, and the interior definitely had not been properly detailed. You could literally run your hand across parts of the carpet and feel the grime and stickiness. We brought this up and were basically told that it must have been missed. We ended up purchasing another QX80 instead. It was still in the shop at the time, and we were told it would be detailed and delivered to us, so we trusted that it would be taken care of. Unfortunately, when it was delivered, it was once again dirty. There was grime inside the vehicle, the wheels were filthy, and there were still hard water spots all over the paint. Then a couple of hours later we opened the center console and found a cockroach inside the vehicle. At that point this went beyond just somebody missing a spot while detailing. We were also given a remote/key fob that didn't work and were told to just replace the battery. Obviously a battery isn't expensive and I can change one myself. That's not really the point. The point is that when somebody spends this kind of money on a vehicle, especially from an Infiniti dealership charging a mandatory $2,500 luxury package, these are things that should be checked before the vehicle is handed over to the customer. We were eventually offered a $200 gift card, but after paying $2,500 for a package that was supposed to include detailing and receiving a vehicle in this condition, that honestly felt more insulting than helpful. I'm not writing this to say Grubbs Infiniti is a terrible dealership. Like I said, our first experience with them was actually very good. Maybe this was just a bad experience this time around. But I do think people should be aware of the luxury package and ask exactly what they are paying for. If you're buying new or used from them, especially if you're being required to pay for that package, inspect the vehicle closely before you leave or before accepting delivery. Make sure the detailing and everything else you're paying for has actually been done. When you're buying a luxury vehicle from a luxury dealership, I don't think expecting it to be clean, inspected, and properly presented is asking too much.

He honored everything he said he would, all the way down to even beating the interest rate. My husband walked away with the same truck, with fewer miles, and exactly what Vandergriff had turned him away for.
