Incompetence, erratic behavior, shoddy workmanship, missed deadlines, lack of accountability This account was written by close friend who had a very upsetting experience after taking a Mac laptop to Richard Dow for a new battery--an ostensibly simple hardware fix. I offered to post it so others do not have to go through similar frustration. 1. I bring my laptop to a driveway so Richard could "see inside." HE RETURNS IT WITH TWO OUTSIDE SCREWS STRIPPED AND REMOVED FROM CASE. He has to order the battery and tells me he hates Macs though he claims to be a Mac repairman. 2. I return a week later to drop off laptop, supposed to be ready in 30 minutes. HE MISPLACED BATTERY. I go home, ready to call another repairman, he calls, found battery. 3. I bring it back at the agreed upon time. It won't be done for "a while." HE NEEDS TO FIND AND REPLACE TRACK PAD CABLE, WHICH WAS FINE BEFOREHAND! He gets mad because I'm upset and he's the one doing all the work!! Price has changed twice because of extra time. I do not pay the second increase and retrieve the laptop towards the end of the day. 4. Battery starts up that evening, but the next morning it is dead. Won't hold charge. 5. I take it to a professional technician in another city and watch as he opens the case. BATTERY NOT SEATED PROPERLY, TRACK PAD MISALIGNED, INTERNAL SCREWS STRIPPED, A SPACER BENT AND UNUSEABLE. I paid for this 2nd technician to correct Richard's errors.
