SIMPLE BATTERY REPLACEMENT ON LAPTOP BECOMES AN ORDEAL .... Incompetence, erratic behavior, shoddy workmanship, missed deadlines, lack of accountability This account was written by close friend who had a very upsetting experience after taking a Mac laptop to Richard Dow for a new battery--an ostensibly simple hardware fix. I offered to post it so others do not have to go through similar frustration. 1. I bring my laptop to a driveway so Richard could "see inside." HE RETURNS IT WITH TWO OUTSIDE SCREWS STRIPPED AND REMOVED FROM CASE. He has to order the battery and tells me he hates Macs though he claims to be a Mac repairman. 2. I return a week later to drop off laptop, supposed to be ready in 30 minutes. HE MISPLACED BATTERY. I go home, ready to call another repairman, he calls, found battery. 3. I bring it back at the agreed upon time. It won't be done for "a while." HE NEEDS TO FIND AND REPLACE TRACK PAD CABLE, WHICH WAS FINE BEFOREHAND! He gets mad because I'm upset and he's the one doing all the work!! Price has changed twice because of extra time. I do not pay the second increase and retrieve the laptop towards the end of the day. 4. Battery starts up that evening, but the next morning it is dead. Won't hold charge. 5. I take it to a professional technician in another city and watch as he opens the case. BATTERY NOT SEATED PROPERLY, TRACK PAD MISALIGNED, INTERNAL SCREWS STRIPPED, A SPACER BENT AND UNUSEABLE. I paid for this 2nd technician to correct Richard's errors. read more

His behavior with my computer was appalling and unprofessional. Richard was asked to diagnose and fix the sound that the computer fan was making. Not only was the computer returned with the fan still broken, but he had created a new IT Admin account, renamed my machine (and spelled my name wrong), deleted most of my shortcuts, changed my default browser, installed programs, and uninstalled a program that I use regularly, all without my consent. As a person on the spectrum, the changes were so jarring that I was unable to work until I asked another tech to fix everything. His social conduct was condescending and disrespectful as well. Asking how old I am and if I am in school was inappropriate. When I asked him how to uninstall the Windows 7 start screen, his reply was "Oh, get used to it, it's more efficient." He was judgmental of my desktop wallpaper among other things. One of his notes told me to keep track of my usernames and passwords in a file that he set up for me, and another told me that anti-virus software is unnecessary. In the end, he said that he did not know how to fix my model of computer and the failing fan meant that the entire laptop should be replaced. This entire experience was absolutely awful. He showed no respect for me or my machine. The fact that we were still charged for this service when he brought the computer back worse than it had been before is still infuriating, perhaps even more so when the partial refund that we requested took nearly a month to be followed through on. read more

My 2nd follow up review of All Pro Computer Solutions which is Richard Dow only. I hadn't had time to look at my husband's Windows 10 laptop since Richard returned it Saturday for a $200 ransom (I was able to put a stop payment on the check but has a $35 bank charge). Richard had already cashed the $400 check - he was hired for a few software problems and no repair problems. My husband told me after first opened that his Google browser had been changed to Duckagogo which opened first and then he has to go to Google browser 2nd. He also said on the opening MS screen that Richard's photo is next to his. We had Google sync between our computers which was especially important because my husband has very serious health conditions which have kept him homebound for the past 5 years, and he also has severe memory loss. The next day he tried to open Amazon Prime which we have preset in our password savers in both of our computers. It wouldn't open and he had to establish a new PW. I couldn't open Amazon at all on my Windows10 PC and even put my husband's new PW in but still wouldn't open. I looked at his computer for the first time since returned, and Richard had changed the name of the computer and made himself the administrator. I went into the settings in my computer and said my husband's email address needed fixing - I put in his PW but still wouldn't take - I always had his computer stored in my settings as the 2nd user. He also added 3extensions - an Ad Blocker that I had years ago and didn't want, but it has a lock on it that only he can administrate it, so I can't just delete it, and 2 other extensions that he didn't want - we don't use extensions as they can change programs and are unnecessary in Windows 10. I also went online and learned that it is a computer crime to change a person's programs without their permission. There is a form for reporting him which is either state or federal. I am also sending all of my reviews, Caroline H's and Ross MacPherson's on Google Reviews to our County of Sonoma fraud unit. He has also committed emotional and financial elder abuse and to Caroline H without the elder part and definitely financial to Ross MacPherson. We are calling Dell tell them that the name and administrator of my husband's computer was changed without his permission and is also causing it not to sync with mine, and I don't have the skills to fix it. Then I am calling Microsoft on how to remove the locked adblocker and my husband can't use my printer since the name of his computer was changed and administrator changed. Our hope is that he will be arrested. He has very severe pathological mental disorders. read more

We have been astounded with his easy-manner, excellence in performing a job and complete knowledge of seemingly every aspect of computers. We could not ask for anyone better! When we thought we needed a new computer, Richard made our seven year old computer almost new with his work. He also beautified our home office by re-arranging loose entanglement of wires, placing modems and routers in their appropriate location, and making certain that computers were easy on the eye. I purchased a brand new Dell Inspiron 5000 series and was having issues with speed, finding the pre- loaded Microsoft office and unclear how to propagate my browser info from old computer. Richard first, found the computer slow and adjusted a few things to address the slow processor (a ridiculously slow processor) UGG. He added newer version of a security software not provided by Dell, and transferred all data from aged out computer without needing to provide an external drive. The computer was back in 24 hours and up and running for a work project. My computer broke down and I was in the middle of staging an event and opening a new business along with my current business and I was under a lot of stress. I brought my computer to All Pro Solutions and Richard was kind enough to meet me near my home on his way to a family activity. I switched up on him and said I was going to buy a new computer and so he secured all of my data on the old computer and then recommended what to get as my new computer. After I purchased the new computer he prepared it for use and provided me with with everything I need to know about how it was set up. I found All Pro Computer Solutions online through Thumbtack. My Seagate hard drive for my MacBook Pro laptop was failing and I was unable to recover the data myself. Richard was very responsive and had excellent customer service. He was patient and coordinated dropping my hard drive and picking it up when it was convenient for me. Not only was he able to recover 99% of my data, but he also somehow was able to fix the failing hard drive so I can now use it as a backup. Finally, the final price of the repair was extremely competitive, less than half of what most other companies charge.
