We had been visiting St. George's Market but wanted someplace warmer to have lunch, so we asked one of the vendors, and he suggested Granny Annie's. The decor is eclectic, to say the least, but fun all the same. Our waiter was very friendly and lunch was tasty. My wife had the Granny's Country Style Chicken Salad (POTATO SALAD, BEETROOT, COLESLAW, CHEESE, PEPPERS, RED ONION, EGG MAYO, MIXED LEAVES, CHERRY TOMATO, SUNDRIED TOMATO, GRATED CARROT) and I had the Open Faced Chicken Sandwich, with a side of Skinny Chips (which are tasty, but not that skinny ;-). Came here with friends for lunch, this was my third visit to Grannie Annie's. we were glad to get seated straight away as this venue is usually packed. The theme of this restaurant is traditional granny style with the ceiling to floor decorated in reclaimed furniture fit for your nans. There is plenty of waiting staff floating about and lots of seats. The venue is almost the length of the block. After we got seated our server, Liudas, was quick to tell us that everything on the menu was available except the cod. Thankfully our party were not fussed about the cod and ordered. I tried the Hen Burger with a side of sweet potato fries and a tub or garlic mayo. It was pretty good After dinner we wanted to order a sweet, sadly this is were the restaurant lost its 5th star. In addition to there being no cod, the restaurant had No sticky toffee pudding or the Jam & coconut sponge. Our party just settle for coffee in the end. The waiter who served us, Liudas, was super friendly and couldn't be more helpful. He even partook in a bit of friendly banter with us, then told us a joke about his language barrier. Granny Annies Kitchen's a new Gastro Pub located where the old Rumpoles and more recently Victoria's stood. It's a terrific transformation to what was there previously and now offers a wonderful new dining experience for Belfast. I visited for lunch yesterday (Saturday 09.07.2016) with my Mother and Sister. We all loved Granny Annies Kitchen. It's a relaxed spot decorated in a cluttered fashion with old clocks, pots, pans and walking sticks etc crammed into every available space. Very interesting to look around and spot all the old items. Service was pleasant and food scrumptious. My Mother and I had 'small' but filling Vegetarian Salads consisting of goats cheese, cheddar, sun dried tomatoes, walnuts, rocket, peppers, red onion and potato salad. They were delicious and our shared side of garlic cubed potatoes very moreish. My Sister ordered a Vegetable Ciabatta which she said tasted fantastic. The reasonably priced Pinot Grigio (£14) and Prosecco (£20) were extremely good. We noticed some appealing gins and cocktails on the drinks menu but didn't get a chance to try them. All in all a wonderful first visit and I'm looking forward to returning specifically to try the Vegetarian Curry, Burger and Ciabatta. Fingers crossed subsequent visits are as good as the first and I hope over time a few more vegetarian dishes are added to the menu. read more

I don't know how I felt about this restaurant to be honest I'm a bit all over the place. The food was ok although it was very busy when I went (Friday afternoon) the restaurant was flat out we had to wait outside for a table which wasn't to bad as the sun was shinning and they have a nice seating area outside. The menu was ok and the service was good but I'd say it would be better if the place wasn't to packed and the staff weren't run of there feet. I think I'll return and try it again whenever it's a bit less packed out and give it another chance. read more

Had the pleasure of meeting friends for dinner at granny Annies. It is such a quirky place and I loved it. The decoration is different and the astomphere was good. We all had dinner and drinks. The prices are average for city centre. The staff where helpful and friendly. Service was good. Had live music playing which was a bit loud for talking over but did make the place feel alive. We went outside after dinner to continue with drinks and had a lovely night talking with good background music. Would definitely go back and recommend the steak it was delish. They are extending the place so that the bar and restaurant will be separated which is a great idea. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here. I didnt book so there was a little bit of a wait for a table. However there was plenty of room at the bar for us to sit and have a drink while we waited. We were o ly out for a light lunch so we ordered the go to club sandwich with a side of chilli fries. The atmosphere and decor in the place really does make for an interesting visit. We nipped in here today after a bit of shopping and it was perfectly pleasant but nothing fantastic. Very busy and we were told to expect a 30 minute wait for a table but were seated in 15. Decor has been revamped fairly recently and it looks well with any number of "granny style" artifacts adorning the walls. I went for Seafood Chowder for starter which was good and a Hen burger for main which was tasty although the salt and chilli chips I ordered were not that flavoursome. Service was OK, polite but rather slow. We waited a good 15 mins for a Sprite and I could tell the waitress had forgot us until we made a point of sitting looking around like we were dieing of thirst! Price was reasonable,£44 for 2 courses for 2 plus a few beers and Sprites. Overall impression was just okay, nothing particularly wrong with the place but nothing fantastic either. read more

We came for breakfast before a tour. Their opening hours said 8:00. The wait staff was sitting at the bar and the doors locked at 8:10. A number of people were waiting outside and ended up leaving as the staff continued to clean and disregard the posted hours and the potential customers outside. read more

The entree meals were delicious. My gripe is with the salad. I receive it and my friend realized it had toppings she didn't like so she passed hers over to me. I've added a photo to compare her whole salad and my empty salad once I had removed the barrage of red onions from it. After I ate her salad the dish of onions was completely full. I like red onion in my salad but this was waaaay too much. Could have been a 5 if it weren't for this. Naturally I picked them out and ate around but the was nearly and entire large half onion between the two small dishes. I don't know anyone who like onion this much. The flaky beef pie was good and we liked the meals so much we did return later and enjoyed the lasagna which was also very good. The toffee pudding was a great way to finish the night and the decór was badass. Do open the drink menu and read about Grannie Annie it will make the experience better. read more

I went here for lunch on Friday, I had heard good reports about the place and curiosity got the better of me. The place as very busy and we had to wait for a table. Only 20 minutes though. the staff were really friendly and chatted with my 13 month old son, which kept him entertained. The lunch menu was mainly burgers, sandwiches and salads, I ordered the Atlantic Prawn Sandwich and my friend ordered the Mediterranean vegetable Ciabatta. The only thing holding this establishment back is the service. The food was great. The ambiance was super. The prices not too bad. Unfortunately, the service is absolutely atrocious. If the place was busy I might have been willing to overlook a bit of it. It was not busy. For some reason we had to stand around for a while before anyone offered to seat us. After that there was a wait for the menu, wait to order (we actually had to call someone over after waiting for some time). There was no follow up after the order finally got to the table. I ordered a water and had to flag someone down for that and then again after waiting for over 10 minutes for it to arrive. Wait for the check. Wait wait wait. I wish I could offer up a better rating because everything else about the place was terrific. As it is i had to convince myself to give 3 stars instead of 2 based on the service alone. read more

Was visiting from Dublin on a day trip and decided to have dinner here before the evening train back (10-15min walk to the Central station). Had awesome waiter Adam. We were two seniors, two adults and a child. Great casual atmosphere, unique decor and overall pleasant. Had the fish and chips, lasagna, kids pasta, steak pie and sea bass. All were very good, both in flavour + value + presentation. Adam offered to get the chef to give my son some greens on the side vs just more carbs. Everything came quickly too. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something in the area that isn't a dingy traditional Irish pub (we left the Kitchen Table which was horrible). My boyfriend and I went here for lunch after we got off a 9 hour flight from US to London and a 1 hour flight from London to Belfast. Service wasn't too bad but it was a tad slow.
