    Irish lamb stew
    Rachel B.

If you only have time to eat one meal in Belfast it needs to be at Darcy's! We noticed that reservations were recommended but they were still able to get us a table and we were not rushed. The staff was absolutely phenomenal. I went with the lamb stew because I saw someone at a nearby table with it and it looked and smelled delicious. I could not have been more pleased, it's the best lamb stew I've ever had...even better than when I make it myself. We also shared a cheesecake dessert which was really good. Overall this was one of the best dining experiences we had during a 2 week trip across Ireland and Northern Ireland. I highly recommend stopping in here for a meal.

Really good burger! And they had some good IPA beer(s) - i only tried one. Really glad i read some reviews and made the walk, well worth it.

When we arrived at Darcy's, the downstairs was full of locals because it got quiet when we walked in. The music was pumping - fun tunes like ABBA, older dancy tunes and such. I asked the server a thousand questions on the menu and decided on the Veggie Homemade Pie. Chris got the Leg of lamb and we split an Irish soda bread slice covered in melty cheese with a side rocket (arugula) salad. We devoured the bread and cheese and salad. It was a perfect starter - hearty and just good. When my pie came out, it was a thing of beauty. It was served with chips (fries) and some sort of mushy side veggies neither of which made sense to me. But oh my god was it good. A super rich white gravy loaded with veggies in a phyllo shell with a little top hat. Chris loved hers too. A baby lamb leg atop mashed potatoes with gravy. We got a slice of chocolate cake to take with us. It was all so good. And our server was great. So glad we chose Darcy's.

7.77 deal before 7pm is a nice money saver, but it only matters if the food is good. And it was good but not great. Fish and chips were okay - rather bland, but fresh and not too greasy. Lamb stew had lots of veg but not so much lamb unfortunately. Ordered the roasted ham off the kids menu for my son and he enjoyed it (gravy on the side was untouched). Devils food cake dessert was okay but not great. I think that's my overall opinion of this place - okay, but not great. Would eat here again if I had no other options but probably not on my list of top 5 places to return.

Great place with fantastic food. If I could only eat at one restaurant In Belfast this is it. You won't be disappointed.

They say curiosity killed the cat but occasionally curiosity pays off. I had been to Darcy's a couple of times over the years and was never impressed by the poor vegetarian offers - they were limited, boring and lacklustre to say the least. So when I heard on the Northern Ireland Vegetarian/ Vegan grapevine that Darcy's were now offering a new, dedicated, extensive, vegan menu I was curious to find out more. As it turns out, I was so impressed I've now dined there twice this week already! The new Vegan Menu is fantastic, consisting of filling, traditional, mouth-watering, comfort food at good prices. During my visits on Sunday 12/08/2018 and Tuesday 14/08/2018 the two waiters who served us were super-slick and able to advise fully on vegan dishes as well as wines/ beers. Sunday's dinner was a Mushroom & Avocado Sourdough Starter drizzled with balsamic glaze and Mushroom & Nut Wellington main served with olive oil mash, seasonal vegetables and sherry sauce. Tuesday's was Sweet Potato Cake Starter and Bean Burger with chips Main. All dishes were delicious but the stars of the show definitely being the Mushroom Avocado Sourdough and Wellington. Wine selection is good and cocktails delicious - one of the waiters kindly made me an egg-free version of the Cocktail Special, a Pineapple Express. My only concern is that I hope this all lasts and these vegan dishes continue to be offered at the high standard they currently are. I would also like to see few vegan options on the £7.77 discounted Lunch & Early Evening Menu. Nevertheless, D'Arcy's Belfast is definitely a restaurant which has redeemed itself and has seriously started catering to the ever growing vegan population.

Truly great service and tasty food. We loved the music and atmosphere of this restuarant. A casual- semicasual spot with a double decker layout. The owner took care of us even though we did not have a reservation and we were very appreciative of his kindness in seating us right away nonetheless! Lovely spot, give it a try!

    Seafood chowder...very good!

We didn't have reservations for Saturday night but we're able to get in early here. The food was good, and it was a nice place. The seafood chowder was excellent, and the special seafood plate was good, but not great. Overall, enjoyed our meal and would recommend.

    Chicken and ham pie

Before visiting Darcy's i wasn't aware of where the restaurant even was but after tasting the most amazing chicken and ham pie i can say that i will definitely be back to try more of what they have to offer! They have some great offers including the 7.77 deal before 7pm. Darcy's is central to the likes of Laverys, Albini and Benidicts so if you fancy a few drinks afterwards there is plenty to choose from within walking distance

The food was very food here! I had the Irish ham steak and my husband had a steak sandwich. Service was excellent and staff was friendly. This place does take reservations. I would come here again!

I've stood beside the place, in a drunken mess more times I care to remember. Snuggled in right beside my favourite drinking hole, you'd be forgiven if you missed it despite its purple front. One of the few times I've did more than stand near it and actually went in I was quite surprised. Its a tiny, tiny place with a befittingly intimate atmosphere. The food was great. I had the char-grilled chicken and it was perfectly cooked and tender. The prices are really quite reasonable, the food worth every penny. The drinks weren't to much of a drain on the purse strings either, which meant the evening could flow without anyone getting to worried about taking an extra glass of wine. I quite like that darcy's is hidden away, it makes it all the more surprising when you eventually do find it and realise what you've been missing all this time.

Went to Darcy's after we couldn't get into another restaurant elsewhere and boy was I suprised. As an other reviewer has said, it's an easy place to miss. Tucked away right next door to Lavery's, it's not hard to just walk on by the front door. But do yourself a favor and head inside Darcy's. The place is tiny inside, just enough for a row of tables on each side of the room and the lighting is appropriately dim. The meals feature British and European dishes. My partner and I are both vegetarians, but we had no problems finding something delicious to fit our palate. They have an extensive wine list and stay open late for people who wish to dine at more "European" times.

A local place with amazing tastes!

During the time I visited, it wasn't very packed so I was seated swiftly. The kind staff accommodated my request to get a corner table. The vibe can be describe is a classic. I really enjoyed all the dark stained wood furniture - gave it such an "old Irish saloon" vibe...maybe because it is haha. I did not have much time to spend in Belfast, so I tried to taste as many traditional dishes as possible with being just one person. With that being said, I ordered a few of their notable dishes - Crown Bar Irish Stew, Steak & Ale Pie, and to finish it off, the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with both the custard and ice cream (really thankful the server offered to give me two toppings, and they were both delicious). All the dishes were great, and are definitely hearty. The stew as well as the pie filling had a rich roux - nice, thick and flavorful. I will say, the pie pastry was not as flaky as I would have liked it; kind of too thick. Overall, it was a great taste of Ireland

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.
