I visited here on Saturday night and have to say I was very impressed. Situated in the heart of the cathedral quarter right next to St Anne's there was a great buzz about the place on a nice sunny summer evening. Inside the staff were extremely friendly and the the service fast but gave enough time to soak up the atmosphere and check out that decor. For those who haven't been it is like the whole place has been kitted out from and auction or car boot sale, very random but visually very stimulating, the more you look, the more you notice, I really enjoyed that. I took my parents here and they are quite hard to please rarely frequenting anywhere else to eat other than the golf clubs of north down. However to my surprise they loved it. My mum was very impressed with the selection on the menu, not just dominated by steaks as a lot of menus in belfast can be. They had a few fish dishes, risotto, chicken, pork and much more. All In all a great place for a meal with the family, good atmosphere, excellent food and decent service. Definitely recommend.

The decor is pretty awesome and intricate. That said - I loved the WC area, but heed the warning of using the "kid friendly" stall if this is something that may offend you. The service was a little slow, but this was probably because we were all so hungry when we got there. The food was simply fine - not excellent or bad, just fine. My veggie pot pie (shepherd's pie) tasted mostly of onions and lacked flavor. The crust was great though. My friend got a chicken dish, and mentioned it was fine. I noticed a few people ordering the fish and chips; I think this may have been a better dish to try out.

Very hip modern interior and an equally slick menu to match. We were here for dinner on a Saturday night and, not surprisingly, it was a full house. The great thing was we almost didn't even feel it, because the service was so smooth and the table arrangements still give you plenty of space. Extra points for the hanging lamps fashioned out of top hats - I really got a kick out of that! We started with the local potted crab and goat's cheese with candied pecans and beetroot. Both dishes were good, but I did have one gripe about the crab. Whilst the crab did taste fresh, crab meat mixed with mayonnaise is NOT potted crab. Call it crab salad or crab dip - it doesn't matter, but the dish wasn't what I wanted or expected and I have to say I was a bit disappointed, even though it was tasty. For mains, we went with the lamb rump with barley and asparagus (one of the specials) and the crispy pork belly. I really enjoyed both, but the pork belly was definitely the winner here. Juicy and tender with a perfect crust, but with almost none of that soggy white fatty layer usually associated with pork belly. Excellently sourced meat and technique pulled together big time on this one. All in all, an excellent meal and would come back again in a heartbeat, especially with it being right in the Cathedral district, so pre- and post-dinner drinks are handy (and inevitable).

Recently brought the other half here for her birthday and boy did I score some serious brownie points!! This was honestly one of the best meals I've had in Belfast for some time. The food is all locally sourced and all environmentally friendly and all that jazz. Mind you, if it tastes great then I couldn't honestly care and in Made in Belfast it tasted damn good. Prices aren't bad either. For two of us with wine and a cocktail each it was around £70. The decor is fantastic as well with all the furniture being all recycled stuff, there are no two chairs the same. Read the walls as theres plenty of info there like the cocktail menu. TLDR: Superb food in great surroundings at a decent price.

Girls love this place, almost to the extent of camera obscure in Edinburgh (if you have ever had the privilege). The décor is a bit quirky with random things on the walls, but like I said girls seem to like this. The food itself is nice, affordable and locally sourced which is pretty cool. They also seem to have daily specials and cheap cocktails a couple of nights a week, making it an ideal starting point for a ladies night out it even a first date.

Really enjoy this yelp find in a city with not to many reviews. Atmosphere was fun and lively ( life size red ostrich as you walk in the door greets you) food was reasonably priced and very tasty. I had the fish and chips with a curry gravy sauce which was great. ( high praise from someone born in New Zealand!) drinks were good with an interesting cocktail list. I would recommend this place . Fun area around it as well.

The Grill is this Made in Belfast alternative name and is where my wife and I shared a gin and tonic fish and chips and must admit for £12 is a good price and good size But didn't taste of Gin and Tonic. Bit more please!! Good menu choices and excellent staff.

    Pulled pork starter

Just had a great meal with my mum & sister. Currently running their Christmas menu, we opted for the £26 for 3 courses option. I had the pulled pork starter, rump steak main (£4 supplement) & panacotta dessert. The pulled pork was delicious, usually not a fan of piccalilli but was was served was fresh & crunchy...clean plate! Rump steak was cooked perfectly, my sis had never tried rump steak but after trying mine she's a convert, the beef fat chips weren't the best I've had as they were a little soggy but still edible. Egg nog panacotta had great flavour although texture was more like a thickened cream than the proper wobble of panacotta, the shortbread was just a bit too short for my taste. Rounded off with a calypso coffee

During the time I visited, it wasn't very packed so I was seated swiftly. The kind staff accommodated my request to get a corner table. The vibe can be describe is a classic. I really enjoyed all the dark stained wood furniture - gave it such an "old Irish saloon" vibe...maybe because it is haha. I did not have much time to spend in Belfast, so I tried to taste as many traditional dishes as possible with being just one person. With that being said, I ordered a few of their notable dishes - Crown Bar Irish Stew, Steak & Ale Pie, and to finish it off, the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with both the custard and ice cream (really thankful the server offered to give me two toppings, and they were both delicious). All the dishes were great, and are definitely hearty. The stew as well as the pie filling had a rich roux - nice, thick and flavorful. I will say, the pie pastry was not as flaky as I would have liked it; kind of too thick. Overall, it was a great taste of Ireland

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

I was about half way through breakfast as well before I had to remind them id also ordered a tea. This came without milk so had to ask for that too. So the food itself was good, ive had better, ive had worse. I didnt like the very crispy slice of fried soda, personally I prefer a nice soft soda farl to mop up sauces and egg. I visited yesterday (Saturday 14.05.2016) with my sister and we had an extremely enjoyable leisurely lunch sitting on said balcony, watching bustling St George's Market, soaking up atmosphere and listening to wonderful live music. Service was good and there were a few Vegetarian options on the menu. It's a pity these Vegetarian dishes aren't more clearly marked with a (V) plus a few more Vegetarian dishes would be great, but at least they are there. Caroline S ordered a Veggie Breakfast (£6.75) which was the most impressive looking Vegetarian Fry I've ever seen, plus she assured me it tasted fantastic. I opted for a pasta dish with butternut squash, walnuts, onion and rosemary (£6.95). Delicious food in generous portions at reasonable prices. We managed to work our way through glasses of Pinot Grigio, Rose and Prosecco. St George's Market Bar and Grill also do the most amazing pure apple juice and Prosecco cocktail which we thought the best Prosecco based cocktail we have ever tried. Most of the restaurant ingredients are fresh and local, coming from the market itself. We arrived at just before 1pm and stayed until after 3pm as we had such a wonderful time there. Even inside this restaurant is beautiful due to natural light coming through a skylight rooftop, however the best tables are definitely on the balcony. I'm already plotting my return...
