Local belfast food? Everything got chips? So british? But nonetheless we got the sweet yorkshire pudding which was interesting. A sweet yorkshire pudding guys hahsha you should come here to try it though. But the seafood chowder was just super good and so worth it for £10. One of the best chowder i have ever tried in my life and one of the most worth chowder i have ever gotten in my whole life. So if you come here dont miss these two definitely. This was a very solid find, although I can't say I was truly blown away. I went here on a weekend trip and it was busy; we had to have a reservation although we're able to get a table the afternoon of (barely though). They have a nice selection of wine and cocktails, but not too heavy on beer options, which is totally fine. Food wise: both my friend and I ordered the seasonal specialty of the venison burger with beef fat chips. It was A LOT of food. Like whoa. A proper large portion. But quality wise, I wasn't blown away. The venison was well-done (and I'm not sure if it has to be like this for health) but it was rather dry. The sauce they served on the side was a black pepper cream, and it was just a bit too liquidy. The burger would've been helped by a nice cranberry jam or something of the likes. The chips were solid, but a bit soggy somehow and so not the best overall. Either way, serviceable food, a nice environment, good drinks, and friendly service. I would definitely recommend it, but maybe not rush to it again. read more

Made in Belfast is a city favorite that serves delicious fare at a decent price. We went early on a weekday so it was fairly easy to get in as the restaurant was empty. During December, they offer a 3 course menu that is cheaper than if you ordered everything, but you can ask for a a la carte menu if desired. Started off with the short rib, which is surprisingly delicious as it was fried so there was a nice layer of batter enveloping a tender big ball of short rib. The lamb venison was well cooked and the sauce and accompanying potato side were great. Ended with the Bailey's cheesecake which was excellent - a thick well balanced in sweetness slice served with a scoop of ice cream. Would come back for a nice meal if around! read more

I visited here on Saturday night and have to say I was very impressed. Situated in the heart of the cathedral quarter right next to St Anne's there was a great buzz about the place on a nice sunny summer evening. Inside the staff were extremely friendly and the the service fast but gave enough time to soak up the atmosphere and check out that decor. For those who haven't been it is like the whole place has been kitted out from and auction or car boot sale, very random but visually very stimulating, the more you look, the more you notice, I really enjoyed that. I took my parents here and they are quite hard to please rarely frequenting anywhere else to eat other than the golf clubs of north down. However to my surprise they loved it. My mum was very impressed with the selection on the menu, not just dominated by steaks as a lot of menus in belfast can be. They had a few fish dishes, risotto, chicken, pork and much more. All In all a great place for a meal with the family, good atmosphere, excellent food and decent service. Definitely recommend. read more

The decor is pretty awesome and intricate. That said - I loved the WC area, but heed the warning of using the "kid friendly" stall if this is something that may offend you. The service was a little slow, but this was probably because we were all so hungry when we got there. The food was simply fine - not excellent or bad, just fine. My veggie pot pie (shepherd's pie) tasted mostly of onions and lacked flavor. The crust was great though. My friend got a chicken dish, and mentioned it was fine. Very hip modern interior and an equally slick menu to match. We were here for dinner on a Saturday night and, not surprisingly, it was a full house. The great thing was we almost didn't even feel it, because the service was so smooth and the table arrangements still give you plenty of space. Extra points for the hanging lamps fashioned out of top hats - I really got a kick out of that! We started with the local potted crab and goat's cheese with candied pecans and beetroot. Both dishes were good, but I did have one gripe about the crab. Whilst the crab did taste fresh, crab meat mixed with mayonnaise is NOT potted crab. Call it crab salad or crab dip - it doesn't matter, but the dish wasn't what I wanted or expected and I have to say I was a bit disappointed, even though it was tasty. For mains, we went with the lamb rump with barley and asparagus (one of the specials) and the crispy pork belly. I really enjoyed both, but the pork belly was definitely the winner here. Juicy and tender with a perfect crust, but with almost none of that soggy white fatty layer usually associated with pork belly. Excellently sourced meat and technique pulled together big time on this one. All in all, an excellent meal and would come back again in a heartbeat, especially with it being right in the Cathedral district, so pre- and post-dinner drinks are handy (and inevitable). read more

Recently brought the other half here for her birthday and boy did I score some serious brownie points!! This was honestly one of the best meals I've had in Belfast for some time. The food is all locally sourced and all environmentally friendly and all that jazz. Mind you, if it tastes great then I couldn't honestly care and in Made in Belfast it tasted damn good. Prices aren't bad either. For two of us with wine and a cocktail each it was around £70. The decor is fantastic as well with all the furniture being all recycled stuff, there are no two chairs the same. Read the walls as theres plenty of info there like the cocktail menu. Girls love this place, almost to the extent of camera obscure in Edinburgh (if you have ever had the privilege). The décor is a bit quirky with random things on the walls, but like I said girls seem to like this. The food itself is nice, affordable and locally sourced which is pretty cool. I have never had such good, dairy free, chocolate ice cream!!! I mean, dinner was pretty delicious as well. I had to alter my dish a little, being both gluten and dairy intolerant, but the chicken with greens and carrots was very tasty and just the right amount for me. I had the pulled pork starter, rump steak main (£4 supplement) & panacotta dessert. The pulled pork was delicious, usually not a fan of piccalilli but was was served was fresh & crunchy...clean plate! Rump steak was cooked perfectly, my sis had never tried rump steak but after trying mine she's a convert, the beef fat chips weren't the best I've had as they were a little soggy but still edible. Egg nog panacotta had great flavour although texture was more like a thickened cream than the proper wobble of panacotta, the shortbread was just a bit too short for my taste. Just back from a great catch up with friends here. Had a lovely meal with all of us stuffed to the gills ( nothing new there lol). Myself and a friend had the potted crab, fennel, fried prawns & Guinness wheaten bread which was delish! Others had muscles in chilli & tomato different but grrreat & chicken wings. We all opted for steaks 2 for the rump special & 2 including myself the flat iron in Bearnaise. My dish was so tender and tasty but I forgot to ask for sauce on the side. I found it a little sickly and a little curdled on the extra hot plate but I'd DEFO order again and recommend this cut. Not a morsal left on all 4 plates. To me Made In Belfast was the original quirky establishment in Belfast - they seemed to kick-start the current décor trend of having a little bit of everything everywhere. The original idea was to have all locally sourced ingredients, I don't know if this is still the case but if it isn't it certainly doesn't take away from the quality of the food. The two meals served up to us were nothing short of impeccable. I had the 8oz Dexter Beef, Dexter beef is from a cow that has been massaged and fed beer and pretty much had a top notch life, this top notch life makes the meat more tender which results in an even better meal for me. At £11 plus a side of chips this is outstanding value! The cocktails weren't bad either. If I was taking a visitor to our glorious City anywhere I would definitely take them here, not only because it has Belfast in the name, but it also serves up excellent food and provides a perfect dining experience. read more

For our meal we got the fish and chips and the pork belly. Honestly the pork belly was a bit dry, but the fish & chips were hands down the best fish and chips I've ever had. Saturday night 8pm Really busy 2 people, 3 courses each, 2 drinks: £60 Have been here a few times and always find it charming. Staff are really attentive even when it's busy and there's a real sense that they're proud to work there which shines through. Wasn't a fan of the different sized chairs although I see the appeal from a quirky design point of view. Food is always great and I've tried a few different things on the menu which seems to change quite regularly and covers all the basics. The menu is actually fish- heavy which makes a welcome change. The atmosphere is quirky with nothing matching which I like, and the food is good. Maybe I need to go back and stay longer as my visits have tended to be enroute to something else. Fantastic place for dinner! The restaurant itself has an interesting decor, the atmosphere is laid back, the cocktails are inventive, and the food is delicious. I had the pan seared hake over a bed of mussels, spinach and potatoes with a sherry cream sauce. All of the elements of the dish worked well together and the fish was the best I had on my two-week trip through Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
