I wanted to order the whole meal again. We had the buffalo and barbecue wings. We also ordered a quarter chicken. The sauces we like the best, the sour cream and the hot pepper sauce. I'm so glad we made a reservation. Good service and lively atmosphere. We definitely eat here again and again.

Located on the second floor of the Dirty Onion bar, follow the decals of famous people as chickens to find the restaurant. I liked the hidden hangout vibe of the place, separated from the street and the bar. It's like a cozy treehouse that serves great chicken. We came for an early dinner and had the Fried Chicken Yard Burger which came with a side of fries. The fries were a bit stogy but the burger was great. The batter held up to the cheese and sauce, giving a crispy crunchy bite between pillowy bread. Wish the fries were better, and then it would have been an excellent meal.

Pretty tasty place! Definitely enjoy a drink at The Dirty Onion first and suck up that live music and fun vibe. Then head up to Yardbird- shares the same name as my fav restaurant in Vegas -so we had to see how this was. Ended up being rustic with good service and tasty food. Our table had the ribs, chicken and the veggie wrap. All very good! Substantial portions and plentiful sides. Oh and brown gravy which is the bomb. Decent prices too.

One of my coworkers, who happens to be a local, recommended this place and The Dirty Onion as a must not miss stop while in Belfast. It did not disappoint! The Yard Bird's roasted chicken, BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, coleslaw, wings and french fries were excellent, with a really sweet and smokey flavor. By far the best food we have had BBQ-wise and we have been to Texas and the deep South in the USA. The quality of the food was high and it showed; the seasoning was perfect and made the meal more enjoyable. Portions are big enough to share, and a group of 4 didn't get through the entire meal. Because we got there early (before 5) we had a lunch menu to choose from at decent prices. The downside was that they only had Guinness on tap and their pale ale is bottled. Hard liquor is available as well, but in a reduced format since the bar downstairs has the greater variety. Enjoy!

It is quite the maze to enter, but a cool vibe! I thought it was the same as the Dirty Onion, but it is actually a separate place. I liked the dark atmosphere with candles. An outdoor patio is also available. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, yum! Their handcut fries are fresh and tasty. I highly recommend checking this place out and going to the Dirty Onion for a drink after!

If you don't like chicken, don't go to Yard Bird. There would be no point. They only do chicken, but if you do like it, happy days. Up some dark, grey stairs from the low grey Dirty Onion Bar downstairs lives Yard Bird, a specialised chicken restaurant- think Nandos but with nicer branding and you don't have to go and get your own cutlery. The kitchen is open onto the restaurant which is good that you can see what they are up to but it can make the place pretty warm at times- perfect for winter, not so good for the summer. I could wax lyrical about the food, the spices and the techniques, but lets face it it is chicken and chips, how hard can it be. It's not fine dining but it is tasty and the perfect base for an afternoon of Cathedral Quarter cocktails. It is kid friendly, but I reckon they wouldn't be so up for a pub crawl after...;-)

Omg the chicken at this place is AMAZING! I split the Wings & Ribs with my sister while my parents had the Hatch 22 (1/2 chicken with sides and beers). The wings and ribs had a delicious citrus and BBQ flavor with fall off the bone tenderness. The half chicken had the most delicious dry rub while still being moist and delicious. And can we talk about the adorable atmosphere and vibe?! We were here at Christmas time and everything was decorated so cute and festive! Great place for our first real meal after a long day of traveling!

During the time I visited, it wasn't very packed so I was seated swiftly. The kind staff accommodated my request to get a corner table. The vibe can be describe is a classic. I really enjoyed all the dark stained wood furniture - gave it such an "old Irish saloon" vibe...maybe because it is haha. I did not have much time to spend in Belfast, so I tried to taste as many traditional dishes as possible with being just one person. With that being said, I ordered a few of their notable dishes - Crown Bar Irish Stew, Steak & Ale Pie, and to finish it off, the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with both the custard and ice cream (really thankful the server offered to give me two toppings, and they were both delicious). All the dishes were great, and are definitely hearty. The stew as well as the pie filling had a rich roux - nice, thick and flavorful. I will say, the pie pastry was not as flaky as I would have liked it; kind of too thick. Overall, it was a great taste of Ireland

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

There was a 10/15 minute wait for a table but that was grand after all its sunday morning brunch time. I ordered the best of the market breakfast (see pic) and asked for my tea to be served at the same time. Food came out quickly but I didnt get asked if I wanted any condiments, had to ask myself. I was about half way through breakfast as well before I had to remind them id also ordered a tea. This came without milk so had to ask for that too. So the food itself was good, ive had better, ive had worse. I didnt like the very crispy slice of fried soda, personally I prefer a nice soft soda farl to mop up sauces and egg. Potato bread was ok and the rest nice but not mind blowing. Overall its not bad. Lovely setting, friendly, if not forgetful staff. Id come back but ive had better breakfasts. I visited yesterday (Saturday 14.05.2016) with my sister and we had an extremely enjoyable leisurely lunch sitting on said balcony, watching bustling St George's Market, soaking up atmosphere and listening to wonderful live music. Service was good and there were a few Vegetarian options on the menu. It's a pity these Vegetarian dishes aren't more clearly marked with a (V) plus a few more Vegetarian dishes would be great, but at least they are there. Caroline S ordered a Veggie Breakfast (£6.75) which was the most impressive looking Vegetarian Fry I've ever seen, plus she assured me it tasted fantastic. I opted for a pasta dish with butternut squash, walnuts, onion and rosemary (£6.95). Delicious food in generous portions at reasonable prices. We managed to work our way through glasses of Pinot Grigio, Rose and Prosecco. St George's Market Bar and Grill also do the most amazing pure apple juice and Prosecco cocktail which we thought the best Prosecco based cocktail we have ever tried. Most of the restaurant ingredients are fresh and local, coming from the market itself. We arrived at just before 1pm and stayed until after 3pm as we had such a wonderful time there. Even inside this restaurant is beautiful due to natural light coming through a skylight rooftop, however the best tables are definitely on the balcony. I'm already plotting my return...
