Hope Street in Belfast was such a cute spot! We walked in not knowing what to expect but it exceeded our expectation. The service was great, the waiter was knowledgeable & helped answer any questions we had about the menu. I ordered the soup of the day with beet/pomegranate salad. The tomato basil was delicious!!!! Now we can't forget about the toffee pudding. I could bathe in it. Receipt was hard to fetch, we were in a rush to catch our bus so maybe that was our fault. We went without our jug of water being refilled or replaced so that was a bummer but it wouldn't stop me from coming back. 10/10 recommend.

Barking Dog Restaurant - beef shin burger is definitely not your average burger

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

The interior is chic and classy whilst the exterior is full of character having formerly been a 18th Century Iron Foundry. Hadskis is the perfect destination for a working lunch or a romantic evening dinner - in fact it is fit for all purposes. I visited for an early lunch and while the doors only open at 12 by the time half 12 came around there were at least 5 tables occupied in the long narrow dining area. I would suggest to book a table if you are hoping to eat at Hadskis post 12:30pm. We were presented with the lunch menu by the attentive staff - there were 6 different choices of meal for £6.50 each but this wasn't basic fare - This was fine cuisine at an unbelievable price. I couldn't choose between what was on the menu so being a glutton I opted for 2 dished form this menu. As Hadskis specialises in seafood I went for the filling Seafood Chowder and the Sardine and caper Caesar salad. In retrospect I should have just gone for the Seafood Chowder as it was extremely filling - although IO 'm glad I got to taste both dishes. I found Hadskis the perfect dining experience - firstly the staff didn't judge me for being greedy and secondly the food was incredible. I will definitely be back.

It seems weird that I haven't yet reviewed Solo, this is because I have always attended events at…read moreSolo and not actually had a genuine meal experience, that is until yesterday... The interior of Solo is sophisticated, without being overly fancy - this is a good thing, it has a real feeling of diversity - you get the impression that you could go in and feel comfortable having a meal in jeans and a T-shirt as well as a business suit. There's a real warmth to the staff, they always engage in a wee bit of banter and are always on hand to help you out with a smile. The menu is diverse, you can have Asian style food, Tapas or classics like a burger. Yesterday I opted for a starter of Salted Chili Chicken and I think I convinced most of my table to join me. The salted chili chicken is truly amazing, it's gourmet style so get the idea of a takeaway out of your head. The flavours are epic and the the dip on the side compliments the chicken perfectly. For main I went for a steak sandwich, when ordering I was asked how I wanted my steak cooked, even by asking this question it shows the chef has real pride in his food regardless of what it is! The steak came out cooked exactly to my specification, it was accompanied by a a side salad and rustic chips - perfect for what I wanted! Solo is the type of place that you could easily lose track of time in, it's got that stay bar type feel. If you're looking for somewhere for a big group then look no further the staff are easily capable of dealing with large groups! Top notch all round!

We were greeted on arrival with a glass of Sangria swimming with fresh, tangy fruit. I dined on a beautiful Vegetarian tapas platter of deep fried mozzarella sticks in sweet chilli sauce, bruschetta, olives, sundried tomatoes, manchego cheese and toasted almonds - pure lush (as per usual all my Carnivore friends were green with envy hahahahaha)! Dessert was a trio of cheesecake, rich chocolate pot and a chocolate torte. Wine wasn't too bad either, cocktails fabulous, service attentive and staff delightful. Will definitely be returning to Solo soon and am looking forward to my next visit. Plus the decor and atmosphere of this restaurant is modern and luxurious. Would highly recommend Solo as it's now a sensational spot.

The entrance is small, and across from some sort of loading bay or something. But worth stopping in. Once inside, the space opens up and is very welcoming. I ordered the green eggs on toast, and it was delicious (the sausages are an add-on, and in hindsight was unnecessary). The poach was perfect, and that green sauce is divine! But... I hope you brought some dental floss or a toothpick, because you will surely have embarrassing green bits stuck in your teeth otherwise. Top quality brekkie! The OJ tasted fresh with bits of pulp in it (although they do pour it from a jug in their fridge) and the latte is of a good quality. Not busy on a Monday morning. Staff friendly, and chatty with some of the delivery people, who I assume they see on a regular basis. If in Belfast for an extended period of time, would not hesitate to dine here again.
