Musicians at a trad session
Cassandra H.

This must have been my good luck bar because we happened upon it by accident and as we were waiting for a drink a stool happened to become available right in front of a group of trad musicians! The bartenders were friendly and the vibes were great. We really enjoyed the hour or so we spent here.

A proper pint!

Small, historic, brimming with the best craic! These bartenders don't get enough credit for all they endure day in, day out....plenty of larger pubs don't see this much foot traffic. The modern covered outdoor patio with electric heaters is a great extension of the space (although nothing beats being inside and cozy close to live music on a cold rainy day!) Stop in for a pint and a bowl of their famous stew - hearty and only available until it runs out each afternoon!

Seafood chowder. Was good, great portion size, could be seasoned a little better but over all a good dish

Cool pub with outsider seating. If the sun is out grab a table outside to people watch. If you want to get away from the noise, head upstairs to the restaurant for a more relaxed atmosphere

For sure give this place a try if ever in Belfast , had every Uber and taxi driver recommend it. Stopped by last night but it was packed so came by this afternoon and find it one of those places you want to try. The HARP is cold and as always poured well in Ireland. Can sit inside or out and the crowd seems mix of locals and tourists. And they play some good Irish tones at least will we are here .... Cheers

Cozy interior and friendly crowd

A great local spot, crowded with locals and some tourists. We hung around for a couple beers and the live music and milling crowd. The cellar ambiance ads an old world charm and warm feeling.

What? Kelly's Cellars, Belfast
Bruce K.

Thank goodness for food tours because otherwise, I'd never have walked in. Kelly's Cellars dates back to 1720 (older than America!) and is one of the oldest in the city. It's like stepping back in time. It does not look like much from the outside and, to be fair, it doesn't look like much on the inside. But that's all good because it was an awesome stop. Because it's a food tour, it can't just be beer so with our freshly poured Guinness, there was a bowl of Irish stew and a slice of fresh bread. Does anyone need anything else to survive? It's a little dark, there were some people who looked a little young to be drinking at 1 in the afternoon and the bartender was super busy pouring Guinness. Awesome! This was my second time to visit Kelly's while in Belfast . What a fabulous experience. Of course we had Guinness always a win in Ireland. When we came in we were super lucky to sit in at the corner table near the fire right next to locals jamming their tunes ! What an original pub with a taste of local not just tourist . Craic!

This place was popping! It's clearly a place that a lot of university students go to but it was still a cool pub to grab a drink. They had a nice outdoor seating area with plenty of seating. Not to emotion that it's an historic pub and you can tell how old this place is once you go inside.

A great pub all around. Friendly staff and bartenders. A little hidden up front at the street. Quickly opens up to a fairly large pub. Pliant of seating inside and out on a weekday. Pints and whiskey weee on the menu for us. A solid find and worthy of a repeat.

Pint of Guinness

Best pint of Guinness I've had so far. I went twice in my visit to Belfast last month. Has both inside seating and an outdoor patio.

Cozy!

This would probably be my favourite bar in Belfast. I'm not quite the party animal I used to be…read moreback in the olden days, but I do like a night out from time to time, and Katy's is right up our street in terms of the crowd that go there, the music they play, and the general ambiance. They are in a handy city centre position and can be easily reached from anywhere in the city centre. If you're not drinking, there is parking right out the front (if you get there early enough!) if not there are plenty of side streets too! For weekend visiting, be sure to get there before 7-ish, or you may find that you won't get a seat, although it does calm down later on in the night when the Limelight opens and some of the patrons move next door to the club. I must make a point of going back to Katy's soon, it's been too long!

I have travelled a fair bit in my time. Unkind people tend to put it as I've been around a bit, but…read moreI prefer to think of it as romantic wanderlust. Anyway, apart from the wonderful Public Bar in Melbourne, and possibly Dubliners in Tokyo (actually no, their Guinness is questionable and their 'soda bread' is in fact wheaten), Katy Daly's is my all time favourite bar in the world. This says quite a lot if, like me, you fled screaming from these shores at the first possible opportunity and spent several years abroad. But I've come to realise on my frequent returns, to sign on, that Belfast is actually quite a cool wee city. And Katy Daly's is one of the main experiences for me that encompasses that vibe. Imagine my shame and horror last year in Australia when one of the lead items on the news was the spides in the Village burning the Roma population out of the area. And when any July overseas the pictures beamed in from Belfast are of riots, bottle-throwing spides and triumphalist sweaty-faced Orangemen doing their damnedest to make sure no-one can get down the Lisburn Road. 'Belfast isn't like that!' I'd wail to anyone who'd listen, and plenty who wouldn't. 'Look at Katy's for example!' A rock bar with great music both live and on the jukebox, an unpretentious and friendly crowd, the best pub quiz I've ever been to (yes, even better than Melbourne's), friendly staff who remember your usual (ahem), and good food at good prices, makes Katy's a must visit for any tourist who thinks Belfast is all burning buses and bodhráns. Oh, and most unusually, and welcome, for an average city bar - the ladies are normally outnumbered by the men. Most of whom are of an alternative ilk and not decked out in Ben Sherman and Timberlands, and therefore are generally gentlemanly instead of trying to cop a quick grope as you go past them on the way to the loos (Bot, I'm looking at you). Many of them are long-haired and tattooed to boot. Yummies. In fact, I'm sitting in Katy's right now writing this. Goddesses bless mobile broadband.
