There is no air conditioning and the workers have to work in the heat as well as the customers waiting on an order. My mother and I wrote a bad review because the food was bad and we went every day. We are now banned from the restaurant and we wanted to see if we could order and apologize even if its not our fault. Now he hangs up on us and or has his employees hang up on us. Had been ordering from this place for years when this happened. When I called to order the pizza, the woman taking my order already sounded like she had an attitude and I had done nothing but attempt to order my pizza. I live literally about 10 minutes walking distance one way to the place. So after about a half hour, I called to check on the pizza because it normally doesn't take very much longer than half hour tto get it. I was told the pizza was with the driver and out the door. 20 minutes later it is now been roughly 50 minutes since I ordered the pizza and 26 minutes since I checked on where the pizza is at. And when I call back hostility. When I told the guy it had been an hour he told me it had been 46 minutes like that 14 minutes was going to make all the difference in the world to me and getting a cold pizza. And I'm sure they can see by their system that I'm a frequent heavy customer so you would think that they would do something to appease me, sir. I'm sorry. Let us give you a discount, sir. I'm sorry we'll make you another pie and get it right over to you, sir. I'm sorry we'll put it in the system for you to give you a small order for free the next time you order. I got none of this. All I got from the person I called and the manager was them acting like I had done something wrong simply because I checked on my pizza Now an hour since I ordered it on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a pizza at 4 o'clock and at five minutes after five I'm still arguing with the guy and the pizza never even arrived. Although I've tried most every pizza shop on the north end of Columbus, I can't believe I've never been to Grandad's on Morse Rd. Perhaps it's because they don't have an online presence for this store - so I order from shops that allow me to order online for delivery. When the delivery man arrived with our pizza - I might add 10 minutes ahead of scheduled time, we told him that we'd never gotten Grandad's Pizza. He assured us that we would thoroughly enjoy their unique taste. (We'd also ordered 3 Italian Subs). After taking our first bite of this hot-from-the-oven pizza, we were aware that this pizza did have a unique taste. It tasted like the pepperoni and spices gave the pie a delightful smoky flavor, not found in any of the other local shops to-date. The pepperoni used by Grandad's is the same small, spicy, pepperoni, that I love and is used by Joseppi's, which made it all the more delicious. We had not even touched the Italian subs at this point. Well, that's not quite true - after only a few pieces of pizza, she was already nibbling on one of the sandwiches. She told me that even without added meat and cheese (as we normally order,) they had followed our request to leave off the banana peppers and put our dressing on the side. The lg. pizza and 3 Old School Subs (on a special coupon) for $15.95 and the large 14" one topping pizza was only $13.50 (All reasonable prices for all that food.) Upon delivery, we were given additional coupons for next time. Will there be "next time"? You bet! The smoky flavor of the pizza was worth coming back for that taste alone! I called the shop again and the owner was so surprised when I told him we'd just gotten pizza and subs from his store. I suspect he may have thought the reason for calling back may have been to complain about something. Instead, I thanked him for the rushed delivery and piping hot, delicious taste of their pizza that his delivery man said we'd like. Grandad's on Morse is strictly carry-out, but you will find a steady stream of people coming in to enjoy the friendly service and the fantastic prices. Grandad serves up a traditional Ohio pie, square cut with edge to edge toppings. The crust is thin, but not crackeresque. The toppings sitting aboard this crispy crust were all decent, but nothing spectacular. The shrooms were a bit rubbery (canned, I suspect). Grandad's sauce is slightly sweet and tart. I was hoping the sweet/tart first note would be followed by a robust herby finish, but no dice. All in all, Grandad is a solid specimen of an Ohio pie. Definitely worth a try and A-OK. read more

I really liked the Hawaiian Pizza I just received. The toppings were plentiful & the pizza was beautiful. I am really impressed with how much great flavor it had. They used larger slices of almonds than most other pizza places. The almonds were toasted perfectly & provided the best crunch. There was a lot of ham & so many pineapple pieces that they spilled over when picking up a slice. I think I liked this more than my all time favorite Donatos Hawaiian Pizza. It had more toppings & not as dry. I also really appreciate the fact that the driver paid attention to my request of calling me when he arrived & not ringing the doorbell (something most delivery services ignore). This is one of the better pizza places on this side of town. While there are a couple of great pizzeria's, they don't have delivery over here or they require a third party delivery service. If I wanted to go get a pizza I could just get one at the store. I haven't had a bad pizza or bad service on the phone or at my door from this place ever. As a matter of fact, this is the only pizza place that has never messed up an order yet for me. The big chain shops over here have all failed to the point where we don't use Donato's or Pizza Hut anymore due to quality issues at Donato's and order quality and management issues at Pizza Hut. The other places are constantly too greasy or too bland and no better than me baking one myself. For the review I read where they bash this as not being quality pizza, well this isn't the east coast or Chicago. The pizza standard here was set by Donato's and Massey's decades ago. I can drive across the city for a better pizza, but that defeats the purpose of getting delivery on snowy or rainy days. If any of you are old enough to remember the flavor of the crust from Donato's in the 80's thru 90's prior to their sale to McDonalds Corporation (briefly) the crust tastes like that. Now Donato's uses the frozen dough which is not the same or good. read more

My last order I was not able to; which wouldn't matter but I questioned the person that took my order why could we before and not now? I asked to speak with the manager. The owner gets on the phone; doesn't say hello or how are you!! He addressed himself as the owner of 31 years and his tone was very argumentative towards me over a coupon. When I let him know I could use coupons before; he said whoever let me do that was doing it wrong. I can afford a pizza w/o coupons but it was how the "owner" talked to me. Okay so I'm a loyal customer I have been coming to granddad for a little min now when I say I love there pizza I travel but the customer service & workers is the problem they are so rude and make you feel in Unwelcome they don't try to explain nothing to you far as if they have deals on pizza or lunch special now there's been a couple of times that I went in and got food around lunchtime and when I say that they are so welcoming and respectful, it makes me just want to get my dinner at lunchtime just because that night shift is so rude they will lose a lot of customers if they don't change their attitude and I don't wanna have to become one of them customers I really enjoy the pizza and the food they make you feel like you were bothering them when you were placing an order to keep their business open, and to put money in their pocket, there's also a lady that answers the phone that is very rude. Grandads is in the Milano Center on Morse Road, near the intersection of Karl Road. I ordered a regular sub with hot sausage. The latter addition cost me an extra $1 and was almost too much. The regular sub came with salami, ham, cheese, and LT&O. The sausage was much more than I was expecting. It was so thick, it dwarfed the other meats. Made for a good, if not to big sandwich. I live close enough to them to drive over but if I ever feel lazy, they offer delivery for $2 plus a tip for the driver. And besides the subs, they also have pizza, and pop. I can see myself coming back here for another sub real soon. read more

If you're looking for a less-expensive alternative to Donato's, Grandad's is it. It has the same thin, soft crust and sweetish sauce as Donato's, but a lot cheaper, and better-tasting to boot... plus they're very generous with toppings, seemingly applying veggies by the handful. I'm not kidding, there must be the equivalent of a whole jar of green olives on my pizza. Grandad's is one of those hole-in-the-wall places you'd probably never go without a recommendation, with a liquor store next door and unsavory types sometimes hanging around. There's no dining room, just a tiny lobby that's always 90 degrees. Get your pie delivered if that doesn't sound good to you, because like many restaurants whose exteriors look scary, the food is great. This is my go-to pizza place in Columbus. As per our bad experiences at Katie's Pizza, we decided to drive to the Grandad's location. We use to go here years ago until we found out Katie's was closer, however, we will not be visiting Katie's Pizza for a very long time. The 50 minute adventure (here and back) is completely worth it. Once we got our pizza, we wish we could ave started coming to Grandad's sooner. Grandad's Pizza definitely has more cheese and more sauce on it, and is even cooked better. The crust has more of a fresher taste and is crunchier. Grandad's offers better customer service. Upon going in, we were greeted with friendly staff! The order was made correctly, and when we called to use a $2.00 off coupon, they went ahead and gave us a coupon more geared to save us money on what we ordered. On the way out, the delivery driver held the door open and told us to have a good night! This level of service would not have happened at Katie's Pizza. Also, Courtney seems to be from out of town and must be judgemental about Ohio-style pizza. The sauce isn't sweet. My toppings were above the cheese, she must have gotten extra cheese. I ate this pizza three times this week (I'm bad, I know) , and I have not gotten sick. I've never gotten sick from here. read more

I'm not sure if its because my husband knows the owner or what, but grandads is something we eat more than once EVERY time we are here visiting my husbands family. We also love the Italian subs. Grandad's was a staple for me growing up because it was the closest pizza to my house that delivered and I worked at a pool that the restaurant sponsored. Grandad's is truly done right. The crust is the perfect balance between bready and crispy. The sauce is tangy and noticeable. The cheese isn't super gloppy and greasy and the savory pepperoni is edge to edge.
