I have lived in Hilliard for 25 years. I have never eaten at Luigi's pizza before. Unfortunately the low stars reviews kept me away. So glad I decided to try it anyway. Really good pizza. Decided to order a pizza last minute while watching the Ohio State football game. Ordered online with no issues. Website worked perfectly and picked pizza up 35 minutes later. Ordered it crispy. And it was exactly that. Wonderful crispy thin crust pizza with nice toppings. Luigi's will now be a definite option for pizza in the future. Thank you! I am boring. I purchased a small cheese pizza. I ordered late Saturday not realizing what time they closed. He happily took my order. I picked it up shortly before closing. I did not take a picture. Upon opening the box the fresh aroma of cheese hit me. The sauce and the cheese was a perfect amount. Usually I have to order extra sauce and cheese. This was perfect. The sauce was perfect. It was not sweet nor spicy. The crust was thin and crispy with a hint it seemed of butter. Almost "crackerish" which was actually very good! I am sick of soggy crusts. Luigi's has been a favorite of ours forever. It's been around forever and it's just not like any other pizza we have found. There are tons of pizza places to choose from and we choose depending on what kind we are feeling. Luigi's is always a great option if you like thin crust, sweeter pizza. They have a thin, crispy sweet crust that is just like no other. The toppings are great as well, but we normally just go with the classic pep and cheese. Great hole in the wall mom and pop place. Gives you the vibes of just a classic pizza shop. We got 1 xl pep pizza 6 breadsticks and ravioli with 4 drinks and it was only 40 bucks. Can not beat the price. The pizza was greasy thin and good. Ravioli was deep fried and full of meat. Breadstick were covered in garlic and butter they were fluffy and delicious. The only complaint I have is the dipping sauce tasted like canned which is ok could have use some more seasonings but overall 8/10 for me. read more

In my many, many years of dining out, I have never been as offended as I was at Luigi's Pizza in Hilliard OH. My family were the only people in the restaurant the entire time we were there, we ordered our meal and helped ourselves to a 2-liter soda in the fridge by the order counter. The employee asked if there was anything else to add to the order and I told him about the soda we had at the table, he replied in disgust that the 2-liter bottles are for take-out only, my bad, I didn't see the sign, sorry. I paid the tab and tipped the customary 20%. As we received our pizza at the table, not in a pizza tray, a plate or anything of the sort, but the pizza was on a round carboard cutout, not unlike the one you would get when heating a frozen pizza at home. We had gone through the 2-lt soda and were afraid to ask for another one for fear of being scolded again, so my 11-year-old son, who was still thirsty, went to pour himself a drink, with my consent, from the fountain. I was not sure if anyone else would like a fountain drink, so I made the decision to wait and pay all together once we knew how many fountain drinks I needed to pay for, instead of paying for them individually with a credit card. By the time my son went to get a refill, none of the fountain drinks were functional. My wife and I looked at each other with the same though, "could they have turned it off on us, surely they wouldn't?" I would be extremely offended by the lack of courtesy and hospitality, if that were the case. When we were done, I went to the counter to pay for my son's drink, and to my surprise, as soon as I made payment, the employee went to the fountain machine, took his key out and turned the fountain back on. The lack of welcomeness and friendliness from the staff is indicative of substandard management, the lack of supervision and guidance, and the very poor attitude of the ownership and their lack of willingness to promote repeat business. There are dining options around town, the next time I want to eat out in Hilliard OH, I will go WAY out of my way to make sure I am not made to feel like I was at Luigi's Pizza. read more

We're new to Hilliard so we decided to start trying the local restaurants and began here. The pizza was really no better than a frozen pizza. The crust was thin and yet not crisp. Additionally, we decided to try the spaghetti and meatballs as well as a sub. The sub was good and worth trying again, but the spaghetti sauce was so bland it was nearly tasteless. We paid extra for two extra meatballs but didn't get them. The rave reviews confused us but upon further inspection it appears the restaurant may have changed management, which would explain a lot. read more

We just brought back our pizza & sub, & I have to say it wasn't bad. (Large pepperoni and mushroom) Not burnt anyplace, crispy, flaky crust, & we liked the sauce. The sub, which was a Supersub, (Italian sub w/extra meat and cheese) was very good. This was our first time at Luigi's & most likely we'll go back sometime. First time trying this after driving by several times. I ordered a tossed salad (homemade Italian dressing), garlic bread w/ cheese, Large (14inch) pizza with Ezzo pepperoni, half banana pepper, half mushroom. The Ezzo pepperonis were perfectly cooked. The sauce has a slight sweet flavor, and it is amazing. For a local pizza place surrounded by corporate slum pizza, this place seems to be slept on in the yelp section. The staff was friendly and the order was ready on time. The dough they use was perfect for the flavor of the pizza. The homemade dressing on the salad was awesome. The garlic bread wasn't over powering and made a nice, after slice (of pizza), treat to combine all of the flavors. read more

This locally owned, operated and well-loved gem was sold. I haven't been since the takeover but tonight I had a strong hankering for Luigis specifically. I tried to call for over an hour but the line was busy. So, I stopped in. No one greeted me or said they'd be with me in a moment. I stood under the "order here" sign for 10 minutes. Still nothing. I tried to call when I could see everyone. The phone never rang. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. More time passed and still was not helped in any way. There is no online ordering for Luigis. Placed a delivery order, and it took over an hour to arrive. When I was on the phone ordering, the woman was very short with me, and didn't ask if I wanted to pay with a credit card. Once I asked her about it, she told me I would have to prepay any tip if I wanted to pay with my card, or I could give a cash tip. Why would I want to prepay a tip on a delivery order!? There's no incentive for speed at that point. Judging by how long it took for the pizza to get here, they didn't have much desire to be speedy anyways. After an hour passed, I called back to find out where my food was. This time a man answered the phone, and was far nicer than the original woman. He said he didn't know where my pizza was exactly, but that they had been extremely busy, and it was out for delivery. Less than five minutes later, my pizza showed up; piping hot. The pizza ended up being just as good as the service was bad. Mine and my girlfriend's pizzas were both very delicious. The garlic bread reminded me of Lucky Charms, in that it was magically delicious. With regard to food quality, I'd love to have Luigi's again, but the shoddy service is going to keep me pursuing other options. read more

Dined in this long time family LOCAL Hilliard Pizzeria. We had original crust (think extremely thin) Pepperoni and Cheese, and a Sausage Mushroom. Both were at our table in a reasonable amount of time. The pizzas were well topped, the sauce had just the right amount of spice. we also had small side salads, with house-made "Italian" dressing. Very good ! My take away, friendly folks, good unique real pizza. So if you like lots of thick dough from a huge chain, this may not be to your liking. For my money i will go LOCAL, not the same old thing every time !! Give Luigi's a try it is legit. read more

Hilliard is the home of DiCarlos and this travesty to pizza. I'm not sure which is worse. One bite and you can tell the crust is frozen. School cafeteria pizza is better. If you're going to make a $5.00 pizza then you should charge $5.00. They have been open since 1955. When it opened in 1955 did they actually use frozen crust? We need some Italians to move into Hilliard so we can get some decent pizza. Just to rub it in they screwed up my order. Stopped by when Mikey's ran out of pizza during Free Comic Book Day events nearby. Thankfully, I don't live anywhere near this pizza place. Let me preface this by saying I used to work in the pizza biz. And I don't mean as a delivery guy. I started as a cook, and helped with a pretty successful pizza business back in my hometown in NY. I also grew up close to the owners of a couple other nice pizza restaurants. Start from the top to the bottom, they always say. The toppings: cheap, low quality. Greasy, scant mozz. Pretty run-of-the-mill pepperoni, which is about the only thing I won't fault them for, since it can be awful to find out people are using some of the more greasy varieties when you weren't expecting it. Sauce could have been from a can, it was so bland. But the real travesty was the crust. Oh, the crust. I think we got the original, but for all I know, they messed up and gave us the thin. It was very, very thin -- and I come from a place where thin-crust is a big deal. It tasted like a club cracker or saltine, as others had stated, and I am almost positive it was frozen. Overall, it was one of the most disgusting pizzas I had ever eaten. I feel like I could have just ordered from Domino's and gotten something better (and I HATE Domino's), or just gotten a tombstone out of the grocery store. And it was 9 bucks for a pretty underwhelming small, which is high in my books. Also, some guy in the back kept staring/glaring at me the entire time. I was a little underwhelmed with Luigi's pizza to say the least. While I was there I was like... "Yeah, I might come back here.", but the more I sat and thought about it.. I was like... "Hell, there's a lot more greater pizza places on the west side that deserve attention." The ambiance here is the same it has been since the 1980's. In fact my husband recalled nothing really changing since he had been there as a kid. The same arcade machines are still there, and the same color scheme is still showing. He said, "Oh there is something new... The tea machine." lol As much as I love a good thin cracker crust... Luigi's did provide this being 2nd to the thinnest crust I have ever had (See Cappy's in London), but I don't know.. I was just pretty "meh" about it all. We ordered fried cauliflower, which was pretty much straight off the GFS truck. No hand battering here. The cheese, and topping's Luigi's uses are great, but what really killed it for me was the crust. The crust takes on a sweet taste to it, and then once it hits you... you realize after puzzling, and contemplating on whether this pie is great or mediocre.... The crust just tastes like a giant club cracker. I was also disappointed that it looked like their crust was not made in house for the thin pizza. It looked like it was bought in and not hand thrown, or rolled from the creases on the sides of the crust, and perfect random holes on the bottom. Perhaps their thicker crust is where it's at, but I don't think I'll take that chance. I hate to say it, but it'll have to take a moment of pizza desperation to bring me back. I love supporting local food, but I just can't get on board with Luigi's. SERVICE ISSUES: When I ordered, the employee seemed really agitated and irritable - everyone has bad days, I get that - but when I got the food, they had forgotten my chicken fingers with the kids' meal. Stuff happens, but when I called back about the fingers, the same employee was very short with me, definitely didn't hide her irritation as she yelled back to another employee about the order, and kept telling me it was "in the bag." I assured her they weren't, and they did end up sending out our missing items, but not without me feeling like I had to argue to receive my food that I paid for. Good customer service can go a long way. THE FOOD: cardboard-dry crust, rubbery, plastic-tasting cheese, bland tomato paste sauce, nothing special about the pepperoni...it makes me think of the cafeteria pizza from my high school. Definitely not worth the price; Little Ceasar's packs more flavor and that's unfortunate. The chicken tenders were okay, not great, not the worst, and the mushrooms were meh.. I hope maybe they can breathe new life into this place, I would love to see a 180 and it transform into a place with great food. read more

This is the best pizza. Thin, flaky, crispy, crust with a tomato based sauce that is perfectly balanced between spicy and sweet. No reason to have crazy toppings like broccoli or pineapple. Stick to legacy toppings like pepperoni or sausage. I expect to return on the regular. read more

I had Luigi's pizza for the first time ever tonight. My pizza was ready in 20 minutes. I got a 12 inch thin crust pepperoni mushroom and banana pepper pizza. I have to say for $16.65 it was not worth it. There is way better pizza around Hilliard Ohio than this. If it were a couple dollars cheaper it might be worth it. Last night was our first time ordering from Luigi's and it won't happen again. We ordered a pizza, chef salad, fried ravioli, and a mini-corndog kids meal. The order took an hour to arrive and the pizza was flavorless. The fried ravioli were just okay (previously frozen). The chef salad was decent, minus the rubbery canned mushrooms (which were also on the pizza). I was pretty pleased with the kids meal though. In addition to six mini corndogs and a good helping of french fries, which was all I expected to receive, the kids' meal also came with a full-sized Capri Sun and a package of fruit snacks. Needless to say, my daughter ate her whole supper! All in all, we're crossing Luigi's off our list of pizza possibilities. Slow service and unsatisfying food make for a disappointing combination. read more

We have driven by this location many times in the last four years and finally decided to give it a try. We decided to dine in to get the freshest pizza as possible. Luigi's had several website coupons and they gladly accepted it by seeing it on my phone...winning paperless. We kept the pizza simple and went with half cheese and half pepperoni. We also ordered a meatball sub and a large tossed salad. The dining area was simple with about seating for about 50. There were two highchairs available which we made use of. We did not have to wait too long for the salad and it easily gave our party of six enough for one if not two servings. The salad was simple, iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots topped with some pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. The dressing came on the side and was enough for our entire party. Luigi's uses paper plates with actual silverware, which worked fine. The pizza and sub came out together roughly 30 minutes after we ordered (we were given this estimated time at the order process). The pizza was piping hot. It was pretty easy to separate the squares and the X-Large pizza fed five of us well with leftovers. We stuck with the original thin crust and each bite had good crunch. The pizza was good but no particular topping or sauce stood out as "Wow." The meatball sub was similar. The sauce seemed lacking in flavor. I can't really nail down what ingredient was missing but the overall tastiness was not there. Overall it was a good dinner and my oldest son said he wanted to come back, but there are better pizzerias in Hilliard. I enjoyed supporting a local company and it was fun to eat pizza outside of the home. read more
