They have all the typical appetizer options, and Sunday night they had some nice steak, ribs and salmon as well. A decent variety of sushi as well. Let's see....for what it is and what we paid for it was great. The food was not salty like other buffets. The hot foods were hot. We definitely underestimated it. However I do wish they had more variety. The sesame chicken, spare ribs, chicken wings, etc...were on point. Like I said, for what we paid it was great. Food was sub par,kids running around out of control at the food as someone with seafood allergies I get upset when I see people using a serving spoon that was in seafood then using the same on a chicken dish. Buffets are not all the same. This shouldn't be compared to a Vegas (or even AC style). It's a traditional Chinese buffet, however, now it's on some yay. I've been a fan since they opened when I was the mere age of five, and loved coming here for the lobster and cheese soufflé, doughnuts, and general Tso's chicken. All said dishes are still present and on par. The Grand Buffet has not improved by solely swank-ifying their decor and streamlining their setup. They have a larger variety of items and have added higher quality items that make up for the lack of crab legs that caused chaos in line. They now have made-to-order Hibachi, duck, and a better variety of sushi rolls. Don't worry - the soft-serve ice cream machine is still cranking out it's creamy goodness. They recently started up the traditional buffet again. When you walk in, you have hand sanitizer to use. You have to wear a mask and they provide disposable gloves for you. The offerings are plentiful and fresh. In fact, they've upped their sushi offerings and the food is fresh. You wear your mask and gloves when you get your food. Each time you go up, you get a new plate. They are not quite as busy as before, probably because of the COVID effect. Nonetheless, the food is very good, if not better than before. I have to admit that Chinese buffets were sometimes like Taco Bell for my stomach. At Grand Buffet, I don't have a stomach ache shortly after. read more

This place is amazing and keeps getting better! Huge selection of delicious dishes from traditional that you'd expect like lo mein and chicken and broccoli to curry chicken, delicious seafood dishes (cheesey crab casserole is so good, you'll keep saying yum as you eat it!) and dimsum. The hot and sour soup is among the best I've had. Then, there's the sushi rolls....super fresh and delicious with many varieties. The cleanliness of the buffet area and tables is always spotless. This buffet not only is gorgeous and has amazing food but has an amazing staff. The people that work there are so kind and likable, and the customer service is very quick. They have varying amounts of food, from sushi to noodles. I went only with my friend, but there were tons of kids there too, so I think if you are a family, this is a great place to go! The buffet is clean and well stocked with fresh food. Upon entering there are gloves to be used while filling your plate. Once your back at your table your free to eat without a mask and gloves. The food is excellent from the sushi to fried food and desserts.I spend a few days a month working in Flushing Queens which is known for its traditional Chinese cuisine. If the only criteria you have for restaurants is quantity and price, then eat here. That's probably why the average score for this restaurant is so high. In terms of any other factors, this really doesn't deserve such high ratings. If you actually want food that tastes good and is even average quality, I would avoid this place. The restaurant felt dirty when I ate there, the food is all overly greasy and poorly prepared. The quality of the meats served there was very poor. The ingredients did not feel fresh in the slightest. I would only consider eating here again if I was on a very tight budget. I always feel terrible giving a restaurant such a low rating, but giving anything higher would be a sin. The employees were very friendly, which is probably the one redeeming factor. read more

Great food, great service, great deal. The food in the buffet always seems fresh and always plentiful. Every single entrée is delicious, but you have to come when they have the crab legs. The tender, juicy, and salty crab legs are the best pieces of crab I had ever had. The service is very good as well. You never run out of water, you have an unlimited supply of napkins, and they are quick and attentive to take your plate right after you get up (thus could be good or bad depending if your done). Good buffet at a reasonable price. Came here for dinner and loved the steamed bass - which was an unique entree not commonly found in other Chinese buffet restaurants. Apart from the usual buffet dishes, there was also a comprehensive sushi selection. Our waitress was prompt with refills and clearing out the dirty dishes. While the environment and interior decoration was on par with the typical suburban Chinese buffets, the restaurant did play a very soothing, almost zen like music in the background. read more

My husband and I were regular customers before COVID turned the world upside down. We absolutely loved this place. And finally they are open for dining-in again! We went back today and were so happy to find that the quality has stayed the same. Instead of going up to a buffet you pick what you want off of a menu and the food is brought to your table. You can order as many things as you want, as many times as you want. The service was great, as always, and the food was just as delicious as we remembered. And the price is extremely reasonable - for two people (all-you-can-eat plus two sodas) the total (including tax) was under $28! read more

My favorites are the chicken and broccoli, sesame chicken, cheese wontons, and the donuts. I do have a soft spot for this spot because my family grew up on this place and this is where my parents would treat us growing up. I visit this place at least 5 - 6 times a year. I like this restaurant because you can find here huge variety of foods that you can choose from. Fresh oysters and crab legs that's my favor. The long wait is finally over. Grand Buffet re-opened today and is back in business. We were among the first group to have lunch there today and they did not disappoint. They have completely re-modeled the place and it now has a fresh, more modern look. They have also added an all you can eat hibachi. I tried their sesame chicken and vegetable noodles and both were delicious. They have added pork chops to their dishes and they were out of this world. The egg drop soup and steamed pork dumplings tasted great. The hibachi is new and the chef has yet to get the seasonings down right. However, I was maybe only the second or third person he cooked for, so I feel he will hone his skills with time. All in all, it was a very pleasant and positive experience for both my wife and I and we can't wait to return. At $9.99 for an adult lunch, it was an excellent value. read more

Went here recently with the family. All in all we thought it was a bargain, especially on a Sunday afternoon when receiving a check for 3 for 40 Samolians !!! (I have to laugh, reading the 1-3 star reviews from "cheap arse" reviewers below with $1 off coupon issues !!!!! ) Seriously, price is a buffet for the price of 1 dish take - out food in NYC ! ? ! ? :-) If you love seafood, they had a few offerings of large shrimp and scallops offered different styles. Also a squid dish that was good. Many different chicken and pork dishes. The pork on a stick was a favorite of mine. My wife is not a seafood lover, and if there was any negative , she commented the placement of wet seafood offerings placed next to chicken and pork dishes. Personally my daughter and I didn't care and ate like kings and queens ! YUM! You WILL eat too much here. Small selection of sushi - I'm a fan of the salmon sashimi personally, even though it's poorly sliced. There's also tuna, unagi, and some veggie selections. The Chinese food selection is smaller than that of Dynasty Buffet in Saddle Brook, but is all pretty good and is constantly refreshed on weekends. The only thing that doesn't seem to get refreshed quickly enough is the king crab legs when they're available. People line up, fill their plates, and clean it out immediately. If you're not prepared to be aggressive, don't plan on having any of them. Great soup selection, lots of veggie and seafood choices along with the chicken and beef varieties. There are quite a few American-kid-style choices (pizza, chicken nuggets, fries, donuts, etc.) if you're with a kid who's a picky eater. Great dessert options too, although I thought my brother was going to cry when they didn't have the world-class cheesecake anymore. Soft-serve ice cream, mouse, cookies, bananas in this sugary stuff, cakes, etc. Service is good - servers are available for refills (free on sodas), to take away plates, etc. However, you may have a sizeable wait on popular nights with a rather surly hostess screaming out numbers to the crowd that fills the tiny lobby area. read more

Service *** It is a buffet so there is not a lot to rate but we were greeted quickly and everyone was very friendly and nice. They never really let anything get too low on the buffet. Food ** The buffet has just about all the standards. Some are surprisingly good others decidedly bad. Overall it is basic take out chinese. The self serve ice cream is an adventure (splatters). Value ** At first I thought $15 for adults, $8 for U12 and $6 for U5 was great but the more I thought about it the less I was impressed. When we go out for Chinese my kids usually split a dish so the cost is comparable and the food is of much better quality. Only 2 stars because they open at 1130, but half of the trays are empty! The sweet and sour chicken was out, but the sauce wasn't brought out until 1150. I asked for the sauce twice and was told in a minute the first time and the cook was making it the second time. The food is good, but the waiter was eating and I couldn't get more water or service until he finished. They finally filled the last tray at 1155!!! I took my daughter on a ski trip and she loves Chinese buffets. So we went to 23 Buffet the first night and Grand Buffet the second night. Grand buffet was good, but it was a clear notch below 23. Food was mostly fresh but the selection was a little limited. Service was good and my soda was refilled several times. My family and I entered this Chinese buffet. We were third in line waiting to be seated when the hostess yelled "no dogs allowed". My dog had a service dog vest on so I decided to approach her to explain this to her. As I was walking to her, she yelled again "no dogs allowed" I then told her "it's not a pet, it's a service animal", she asked to see a certificate. I told her "legally you are not allowed to ask for a certificate as there is no "official" identification for a service animal", anyway, I was with my family and I didn't want them to have to leave the place so I pulled out my phone to show her the training documents I have, then she said "I need a hard copy". Then she ignored me and proceeded to seat everybody else in line except for my family and I. When she came back, I told her that it is illegal to deny access to a disabled person with a service animal and she and the manager, who was there at that point, said that they don't allow dogs because they don't want to have issues with the health department. They seem to think that having a service dog in this establishment is unsanitary. I felt discriminated for needing a service animal to assist me in my everyday life. The workers in this establishment looked down on me and my family. Many times people mistakenly believe service dogs are only for the blind when in reality there are a lot of disabilities service dogs are trained to assist on, such as epilepsy, diabetes, cancer, autism and multiple sclerosis to name a few. It's under federal law that a service animal be granted near-unrestricted access to places where the general public attends. I recommend this establishment reading the Americans with Disabilities Act section on service animals published since 2010 by the Justice Department before getting in big trouble. My family and I ended up going to the Chili's accross the street were they welcomed my service dog, they let us choose a table suitable for us, and the food and service were great. read more

A local favorite for the folks at work , I joined some co-workers on Friday for lunch. Hadn't been there in a couple of years and the place hadn't changed much. Same decor, same friendly attentive wait staff. So attentive, the minute you finished a plate, the empty dish was immediately removed and tea refilled. The buffet selection was huge (including pizza!). Tried the fresh fish and a little sushi (my first experience). Everything was fresh, when selections ran low, the staff quickly replenished. Glad I rediscovered Grand Buffet, especially the Wasabi - holy cow! Excellent buffet! They tend to have lobster during special occasions (i.e. mother's day, valentine's,...etc.), which you rarely find now in other buffet places. We've been here during Mother's day and the quality of the food is pretty good. They got a person serving the lobster, which limits the amount you can take at a time. It's probably not a bad policy since some people would just pile their plate with it and leave nothing for others. Lobster was good! I had better crap legs, but still not bad. Their duck was also really good. Generally, all the food was fresh and good quality. All in all, it's one of the best Chinese buffet around the area. read more
