Granada Park - Top of the hill parking JAN2025 - Parks Near Me - Alhambra, California

Date: March 3, 2025 Stumbled upon this super cute park while attending a Yelp event close by! It was nothing like I pictured because all the photos are from years ago! It's newly remodeled into a castle themed playground with wood chips instead of sand. They have three different picnic tables right above, two smaller ones and one big main one. Restrooms are right at the end of the playground and was fairly clean. Love that there is a HUGE grass space and overall very clean area. They have additional picnic tables as well by the beginning of the playground. Parking wise - the address leads you to the top parking (1/3) but the playground is actually at the bottom (smaller lot). The kiddos really enjoyed this park and love that it's gated. Perfectly sized with a restroom right there is so convenient, especially for a mom of multiples out by herself. So glad to have found this park!! read more

4 stars This park is quite nice and spacious. There are a good number of trees, so there's a good amount of shade. On a Saturday, it doesn't seem to fill up quite as much as Alhambra park, so this may be a decent alternative. There's an open field, hills, and picnic benches to people to peruse. The park itself looks well-maintained with the grass being a lot greener than some parks I've seen. Parking is easy and noise-levels are tolerable. The noise mainly comes from the freeway. Dogs are required to be on leash, but I've seen some of the friendlier ones do well being off-leash. Overall, would bring my son back for frolicks across the park. read more

This place is YUGE! So much space for everyone to participate in their own activities! Baseball, swimming, and soccer seem to be the big ones here. I've seen people host parties as well or just go for some laps around the entire park. Always see other dog owners walking too which is nice. Apparently there's chickens here? Didn't know what to make of it the first time haha! You can also bbq the chicken at the top of the hill. There are stationary grills available. Surrounding neighborhood is very homey and safe to walk around. read more

beautiful weather... not hot and not cold, but with a breeze. Beautiful park on a hill side. There was parking on the top of the hill (within the park), beautiful views (of the pool and baseball field), and towards the bottom of the park, there are kids playground. I found the park by looking up on maps and then searching Yelp. I'm so glad we decided to come to the park. Beautiful. The bathrooms were clean, several trash cans that were not over full (like at some parks), and overall had a great experience. A large kids playground including swings, monkey bars, etc. I will visit again next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

This park has it all. Large open space, hills to run up and down, gym, kids play area, tennis court, baseball fields and a pool. Summer 2020 Covid and we are hitting the pool with lessons and free swim times. Like another reviewer commented that the staff are young kids, what do you expect? David hasslehoff working at a community pool. These young adults know how to swim and perform basic life support skills. We are happy with the pool staff and they are always attentive. Don't believe me, try running on the pool deck and see how many lifeguards bellow "Noooooooo Running". Reserve your swim lessons and swim time online. Spot fill up quick. The park is tidy and super quiet so don't let that one reviewer sway you from visiting the Park that became "East LA park". That is straight up racist. The presence of trash at this park is somehow associated with a community primarily of Latin descent is completely uncalled for. And shame of the other racists who liked and complimented that review. Keep on Yelping....except for the white tiger guy with his racist enablers! read more

Out of all the parks I've been to lately, this is my favorite. This park feels very open and spacious because of its huge grass area. The park also isn't flat like most other parks. It's somewhat hilly and sloped so you can get a better view of the park when you are at higher ground. I came here mostly for the playground so I didn't get to explore all areas of the park. I did notice a decent size swimming pool although I didn't see anyone swimming in it. There's also a baseball field, several walking areas, and few benches and tables. Playground is pretty nice. The equipments look somewhat similar to the ones at Almansor Park. There's a small train by the sand lot for little ones to crawl inside; two sets of swings (one set for little kids and one set for older kids); and few play areas with slides and other knick knacks. The slide area has shades on top which is crucial during the summer. I thought it was kind of weird dogs are not allowed here, but after seeing how big the grass area is, I can kind of see why. There's nothing worse than running or walking through the big field of green and stepping on a dog poop. There really isn't a designated parking lot for the park other than few spots by the playground, but I never had trouble finding street parking. read more

Um, this place is pretty rad and here's why: 1. Ample parking on the street, though, I like to go up the driveway and park up on the hill (great view!). 2. Very hilly which is great for an afternoon tumble (adults can do this too.. I don't judge). 3. Tons of space for a picnic, some light reading, or a simple nap. Also, they have a well maintained kids playground area and a few grill & benches for bday parties. The spaces fill up quick on weekends so be sure to send someone to reserve a spot. I'm giving Granada 5 stars because of all the memories here. This was the secret meeting spot many years ago when we started going out. It was hidden away from large streets, and it was/still is so beautiful and clean. There are hills that are full of green grass and many large trees. Although the park looks like it's mainly hills, there are also areas for tennis, soccer, basketball (indoor and outdoor), swimming, kiddy playground, and there are picnic tables. Honestly, I'd prefer sitting on the grass and having a little picnic there. This park isn't full of workout equipment or toys, like Rosemead park is. But this is more for the folks who just want a nice little getaway park. After many years, we still occasionally come back here to reminisce. If I could keep this park a secret, I would. It's probably one of my favorite parks around. If you're in the area, feel free to come on by with a book and a cup of coffee and enjoy your afternoon here! read more

I thought this park would be a great place to walk my dogs. Here's a little story : I go walk my doberman and siberian husky with my sister and some Asian lady and her daughter glare at us. She had the whole park to look at... She gets out her phone(while still staring) and starts gesturing with us. After a while, we see the sign that had a picture of a dog. Getting the vibe that we weren't supposed to bring our dogs we leave. I find it so rude she was trying to call the cops. She should've just told us that it we couldn't have our dogs. Rude people. Won't be back. Everyone seems to glare here. Sorry for making a human mistake geez But I mean other than that it is a basic park with some tennis courts and playgrounds. Hilly cute gem of a park! Was looking for a place to walk my dog in the middle of running errands in Alhambra and Yelped upon this clean, well-maintained park. It's right up next to the 10 freeway but is in a quiet residential neighborhood near a church. There are 3 small lots, one at the base, one halfway up the hill, and one at the top behind the rec building. The park is medium sized but seems bigger because the hilliness of it breaks it up so everyone kinda has their own section. The entrance of the park has a small flat area of grass for soccer games and tag and such :) There's a couple sections of picnic tables, a clean inviting pool, tennis courts, a baseball field, kids playground, the rec center up top, and the office down on the bottom. I don't like the pools and honestly there are a bunch of teens working here .. which about maybe 13 years of age that I do not trust with my kids .. like cmon seriously kids ? That don't know how to swim .. I had to stand somewhere where it wasn't wet because the benches were completely wet , and we went on one side and this maybe around 15 years old started to complain and tell me that I cannot stand there .. I mean it was raining and there was no way we can sit in the benches and even on the side of the pool we would stand and they would tell us stuff .. what's wrong with me standing watching my child .. such a horrible place to take ur kids to the pool I suggest you go somewhere else .. bunch of rude ass teens here . read more

One of my favorite parks! It's a wide park constructed with many slopes and hills. There's a recreation center on top, complete with a pool, tennis courts, tables that could be reserved, and of course a playground, with swings! The scenery is quite relaxing, except for a useless set of stairs that connects to nowhere at the base. Near the top you could see quite a distance, and it looks somewhat gorgeous at night. The hills are fun to roll down, the fields are wide enough for sports, and the greenery is unbelievably tranquil. And as a bonus, there's a 7-11 down the street, where you could get a big gulp and just sit there to relax read more

I have been coming here often with my friends for their swimming pool/lap swim. Friendly employees & it gets crowded once in a while where we might have to share lanes (see photo for more info). The park is not as big as what you may expect, but there's a great mass of grass for you & your family to have a picnic/play with kids & pets. This review is for the pool. Park itself is cool. First impressions go a long way. Went here first time in the summer and wasn't impressed w/the life guards. They're inconsistent w/all their patrons. Can't bring in tubes or even goggles. I'd rather go elsewhere to swim. The pool is nice, just don't care for the way they treat patrons and the million and one rules. Awesome spot for Saturday morning pick-up soccer games. The terrain is a bit uneven with holes here and there. The field is very wide, where multiple soccer matches can play simultaneously with minimal interference by other patrons. There's a huge playground for the kids and families. This is a very spacious park! Located near the new alhambra plaza. There is lots of parking, tables, trees, etc. It's a good place to hold an outdoor bbq or party! I'd suggest getting here early if you want to claim a table and don't have one already reserved. It costs $50 to reserve a section of tables, but well worth it if you don't want to take any chances of not having one. Luckily, we were surrounded by big shaded trees and didn't have to set up a canopy, though the last time we came, we had to do that. There's also a lot of grass areas to play games. We brought our own volleyball nets and set up there. I've seen the swimming pool but don't know if it's public. The place to go for a park party! read more

Favorite park out of all the parks in Alhambra (sorry Almansor..) - Very breezy when you're at the top.. can take a nap there without anyone disturbing you... - Lots of spaces for a picnic or have a bbq.. This park is really nice but I will never forget the day when a city worker told me I couldn't bring my dog into the park. Granada park is a hidden park that most people don't take advantage of. The pool is a really nice pool, always kept clean. I've never had a problem with that. I love that the grass is well kept but there are some poopies everywhere so be careful where you sit. Just to let every one know, dogs are not allowed in this park. There are signs that says no dogs. It kind of sucks because every time I go, I always see someone bring a dog which irks me since I can't bring my own. Come on the weekends or weekdays. Very relaxing. Very Big open spaced park. Downside is that there are no basketball courts here. The gym uptop is mainly for table tennis players (ping pong what have you) In the morning there are exercises conducted by a group of people spread out through the park, and at the bottom in front of the pool, their is another group of people salsa dancing. this goes on from about 6am-10am. Small park with a big basketball gym. Played in it for about an hour before they kicked us out. Apparently, much like Almansor, you have to pay to play. We moved our activities outside for some flag football next to the tennis courts. Small patch, but it did the job. I decided to try this class coz it was very cheap compared to other aquatic classes...it was very unorganized... it basically just gave you a pass to have a dip in their pool which was a little dirty by the way...there was no prepared activity at all...the class had various age group of kids which confused me too... then on the last day, the had the kids jump on a diving board which I find very unnecessary... they did no explanation of the purpose of the exercise... the bathrooms were very inconvenient as well for parents with babies read more

This review is exclusively for the baseball field section of the park. The seating here is ample but definitely not the most comfortable. Definitely bring yourself a pillow or something to sit on. The snack bar here is significantly better than at other parks and they accommodate to large orders like for team snacks with prior notice. They sell hot dogs with chili from Tommy's! Really tasty, although you can definitely tell that it has been warmed up various times. The horchata was decent. read more
