Visitation Rights: Been to this park countless of times. I primarily played basketball and tennis. Nowadays, I've reconnected with the park and play pickleball here. Park Offerings: 1) Playgrounds for the kids 2) Baseball field 3) Indoor basketball/Volleyball courts in their gymnasium. Just have to find out when it's open gym for those relative sports. 4) Tennis courts and Pickleball courts. For pickleball, there's specific times to play Monday through Sunday: 5pm to 930pm (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and 8am to 1pm (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). Just have to be mindful of the hours that they have it. The city sets up the nets for everyone to use. They're not permanent courts. 5) Splash Zone/Swimming Pool. You'll have to be mindful of the times and rates. 6) Dog Park: Located next to the tennis courts. 7) Picnic Tables/Gazebo 8) Fitness Zones: You'll see some manual outdoor exercise machines 9) Restrooms: They're nice. Location/Parking: Located on Emerson between San Gabriel and Del Mar.. Parking can be found on the street or in their parking lot. Ambiance/Decor: Go outside and touch grass for a bit. If you're looking to play pickleball, this park has a family friendly vibe. Just be on the lookout for yours and other people's paddles. I heard recently that a few people had their paddle stolen. There is a public parking lot, but it gets packed on weekday nights. I parked on the street several times. The seating is also limited and kind of awkward to stand around, so I recommend bringing your own chair. There isn't much space to hang my bags, but I'd be mindful of where I place belongings as well. The people at this park are friendly and considerate. Several people are willing to guide newbies or provide pointers to improve your game. The nets are provided by the people that go there. The regulars have all been super kind to let the community use their nets. read more

It's a big park, with a newly renovated playground. So much happens here: birthday parties, baseball games, bird club meet ups, just to name a few. I like that they keep the grass maintained fairly well and they're are a lot of people walking their dogs and picnicking. read more

Garvey park was my go-to park as a kid, as time passed I find myself choosing other parks over here. The reason being that there's a good amount of homeless that like to crash on the tables during the later part of the day. This always worries me, as I'm a late night walker and don't exactly feel the safest when here. I recently came back because I heard they installed some pickleball nets, but it's just a temporary set up that's removed at the end of the night. I guess this is better than nothing. I do also like the size of the park and how you can really make use of the large field! They also have a small dog park area, a gym, and a mini water park as well! read more

I loved how they revamped Garvey park over the years. The restrooms are now more like the elementary school setting of a restroom inside instead of the non closing stalls! There's also now a Stop Asian Hate mural and now a lot of people play pickleball at the tennis courts! Occassionally, ice cream trucks still come by and sell their iconic ice cream, chips and/or drinks in addition to the elote/esquite man. read more

Nice park with a small water park consisting of 2 slides, a kiddie pool and a splash pad. a good amount of covered tables with bbq's, softball fields and tennis/pickleball courts. They also have Garvey Paws dog park which is great for the puppies. There are separate large and a small dog areas and they have grass which is unlike some other dog parks. People here are respectful with lots of walkers and dog walking. read more

This park is ok. It's connected to a mini water park, I have been to before and pretty cool for the littleones. Lately I been here for softball games. It has a pretty good snack bar, and you can buy goodies Like charms,stickers, and coffee cups. The fields are ok, but some bases are loose. They have tennis courts and a playground. I also saw a shady table area for a party setup. Unfortunately, there's a big homeless issue here, and it is uncomfortable, especially seeing them hold their pipes to the sun to see inside. We're here with 7-10 year old girls. At first, they would leave once the crowd came in, but the last couple of times, they didn't move, so you walk past their setups to use restrooms!!!! The restrooms are the silliest!!! For us GALS when you're sitting, your shoulders up are exposed like if someone is walking by, AWKWARD!! they are looking right at you Just look down and avoid eye contact.. but don't fear if you find the playground, you'll find the cleanest, nicest restrooms ever. Urban park and rec is a great man made excuse to be outdoors and feel the fresh air. Garvey Park is a well maintained and family oriented small-midsize park in SG Valley. No sketchy homeless folks around the park. It's located in a good working middle class neighborhood. This park has plenty of amenities such as Tennis Courts, Baseball Fields, Fitness Zones, Picnic Tables, Children's Play Areas, Swimming Pools, Splash Pads, Gymnasiums and Restrooms. What a wonderful park to have nearby! My priority is cleanliness and spaciousness because I love to take my dog running, exploring, and training. This park has a vast grassy area to explore, from the street parking, over the fields, and past the play areas. There are not a lot of people, which makes it even calmer if you are looking a place to train. As a reminder to dog owners- pick up your dog's poop! We share the community and being able to visit parks is a privilege that some people don't seem to deserve. read more

Plenty of wonderful memories here -- for years a local Buddhist temple would hold part of their summer camps here with park games, a picnic, and the whole weekend culminating in a massive water balloon fight. The park seems to be well maintained and the community is predominantly Asian. Nice resource for the community to enjoy Recreation. Garvey Park, you have really upgraded yourself from my childhood days. This park has always been great for picnics and barbecues, they have grills next to park benches which are conveniently under a bunch of trees so you never have to worry about suntans or sunburns. It's a great place for everything, really. They've got all the bases covered: tennis courts, softball field, playground, exercise equipment, and a water park. Okay, so they're missing the swimming pool after turning it into a water park, but still. Perfect for a peaceful walk or jog since there's a bunch of different paths that go around. Parking is usually not a problem since there are 3 streets surrounding it. Just be careful about going at nighttime. I hear some shady stuff goes on when the sun goes down. read more

I've only really been here during the daytime - I've passed by via car at night, and like Jennifer H, there are some questionable characters here. But there's a weight/machine area where you can workout and all (I think it's a tread in parks now - I've seen a few parks that have those machines - similar to the ones at the gym just without the weights). I'm pretty sure if you pass by during the weekends, you'd see my pup - a giant white ball of fur dragging one of us around. The park houses tennis courts, playground, swings, bathrooms, the Garvey pool and splash zone, baseball field. It's a sizeable park among the residential areas of Rosemead. There are picnic tables and BBQ grills around. There's always a party or some sort during the weekends. I've never had to park here - so I can't remark about the situation, but it seems like there's street and lot parking here. read more

This park just added a dog park with a small dog and big dog area. However, the small dog area is too small. The big dog area is so much bigger and has a titer toter and tunnel for the dogs to play in. Both areas have water fountain and dispensable poop bags for dog owners to use. However, the lawn at the small dog area has poops everywhere. Poop bag dispenser was empty. read more

I'll give this place a 3 star. 2 for being behind my house and another for being a park. I like taking morning walks here with my dog or myself. Everyone when i'm here, I would always see people doing some Chinese tai chi or some sorry if dancing as exercise. Pretty interesting. I would suggest to only come here during the day time because at night time, there are a few scary people sitting at the table and would try to talk to you in some perverted way. Small and packed with cool park amenities! Pool, water slide, kid play area, work out machines, tennis courts, baseball diamond etc. Came here for their free live music concert on a Saturday evening. We watched Phat Cat Swing. They were fantastic! They sold hotdogs, nachos, etc, each item was $1, nice! There are plenty of covered benches and tables. On Emerson it DOES Stink of sewage. I thought it was because the trash bins were nearby but I didn't see them. Maybe it was the residents nearby? It was BAD! I recommend parking on Dorothy or Kelburn, Emerson Place wreaked. Memories......memories......memories!! During my childhood years my family and I used to come here a lot, especially during the summer time. I didn't realized how big this park is as I put in my steps for the day. During my walk I've noticed so many changes since the last time I've visited this park. This park has numerous tennis courts, two play areas for kids, and a swimming pool that has separate slides (somewhat like raging waters slides but smaller ). In addition, there are many tables with grills, perfect for a BBQ! Furthermore, plenty of space (grass) for kids to run around without having to worry about bumping into other kids or people. Lets not forget there is a baseball field at the back! There are machines available as well if you want to work on your muscles. There is an indoor gym close by the pool as well. There are many parking spaces near tennis courts and near the swimming pool. If you can't find a parking space inside then you can park on the streets. Either dogs are not allowed at this park or people tend to pick up after their dogs. The park looks clean to me! I would definitely come back here again. read more

I celebrated my son's birthday at Garvey Park, and had my kids go in the SplashZone for 45 min and they had fun. When our party of 20 kids wanted to go In at around 2:30 pm they kept telling us the facility was full when clearly it was not. We went in at 4:00pm and kicked out before 5pm . We waited for 2 hours and they kept saying facility was full. It clearly was not full because there was not very many kids. Not only is the staff run and not respectful at all. read more

When I'm in need of a quick jog with the dogs, I take them down the street to Garvey Park which is conveniently a couple of blocks from my house. Its not a very big park, but there are a lot of different activities people come here to do: tennis--I believe there are about 4 courts, and the tennis courts have their own parking lot softball/baseball swim(which can't be done anymore--drove by the other day and noticed there was construction and it looks like they are filling the pool in with cement and dirt..maintenance on the pool was probably too much for the city) play on the playground tai chi in the mornings run soccer bbq--there are a bunch of grills with ample seating, tables and awnings TIPS: Don't come after 7:00pm, I don't feel safe here alone when it gets dark. Last time I was there running, there were a couple of creepers lurking, smoking and staring pervertedly at me while I was running by and tried making distasteful comments that were clearly not going to get me to come talk to them. Its not very well lit around the park either. Watch your kids!! Its best to come in the mornings or afternoon when there are more people and the sun is still out. Well this is a very diverse park. It holds some questionable characters that could be dealing or causing trouble but it also holds a lot of families and some unique sports venues for the city of Rosemead. They have a number of areas set up for bbq'ing/picnic'ing. These area are spread throughout the park. They even have some within the waterpark. Yeah they even have a friggen waterpark here called "splash zone". I reviewed the waterpark separately. However in addition there are indoor basketball courts, softball/baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and a giant playground for the crumb crunchers/ankle biters. Pro Tip: They dont have enough parking so street parking is usually a requirement. This place is definitely a rocken lil place. I have been here a couple of times. I mean seriously who doesnt like a good public park when you have kids and are looking for some fun for your lil one? I know I sure as hell am. Let alone the cheaper prices associated with the city are definitely a huge help for those of us looking to have fun on the cheap end. Other than some questionable looking characters perhaps better seen as "pillars of society" and the lack of parking near the prime activities, this place has nothing bad or problematic associated with it IMHO. Definitely a great place to swing by when you want some kid exhaustion time. Run them or they will run you into the ground... trust me on that one. it is definitely helpful to wear your lil ones out here so they sleep well! I definitely love this place and bet if you are a parent that you will as well! read more

This park has improved so much. I used to walk to the pool here. Now, there are 3 playgrounds, a workout gym equipment area, tennis courts and a mini splash zone/ pool / water slide!!! This park is great on weekends as there are 3 mini playgrounds, none of them have sand. The flooring is that rubber tar looking floor and is clean. On weekdays, there are few kids and the passer through people seem unsafe. However I have not witnessed anything. The playgrounds are great for younger kids under 10? Really need to keep your kids close to you. A lot of creepy looking people here. Bathrooms are beyond disgusting, toilets are plugged, no TP or soap. One of the two softball fields are decent. One good thing is their is a couple of playgrounds but look like they need a good scrubbing. Also it does have a cool workout area. Even though I haven't been here in a while I like this park! I've been coming since I was a kid. You could throw kids birthdays in the picnic areas, baseball, tennis, soccer, and have kids play in the swings. Now they even have working out equipment. There is also a splash zone with a pool and water slides, the pool is kinda small they should of just kept the one they had before. My review is mainly for Rosemead's 2012 summer free concert in the park series. I went to the concert on 7/27/2012. I been there for concerts at "Garvey Park" before. This time it was for the group "The Wiseguys". They play big band music with songs like "That's Life". They were great and well worth 5 stars - but because it was at "Garvey Park" I'm only giving 3 stars. I went there with a friend and she would not have gone there without me. I have other friends who won't go there period. The city of Rosemead does a great job of maintaining the park and it's fine during the day - but it's not a good location to have half of their concerts there. They should have all their concerts at Rosemead Park. If they would of had "The Wiseguys" at Rosemead Park they would of had twice the number of people. read more

Been going here for years. Its a nice place to relax and have a picnic. You can do many things here. There's a gym that have basketball courts,there's a tennis and softball court and a playground for the kids to enjoy. The only flaw that I have about the park is that the restroom are nasty and there bees swarming around the trash cans. read more

This park is located on Emerson and before San Gabriel Blvd. It's a pretty small park, but looks pretty clean. I've been running around this park for a while and I think its pretty packed a lot of the times. There's a tennis court, baseball field, playground, and I think a basketball court, but I'm not sure as well. What I really find interesting about this park is that there are exercise machines that almost look like playground items. Like if you think about it its actually exercise equipment that you would see at a gym, but it looks so playful. There's 1 that works on your legs, arms, waist, and other parts of the body. This is the only park that I've seen with this sort of exercise equipment. read more

This is a huge park with multiple playgrounds for kids, plenty of space for family picnics, gym, tennis courts, baseball field, swimming pool and other amenities. I've rented the picnic area for my son's birthday and also attended one of my friend's kids's birthday who rented the picnic area inside the swimming pool facility. The rental process for city of Rosemead is easy to follow and the pricing is reasonable compared to other city parks. I like to bring my boys to play in the playground and just run all over this spacious park. It does get quite packed during certain weekends and the main restroom is not that clean. Big negative is the restrooms which are quite dirty most of the time. read more
