As I was searching up info on Crystal Caves for a similarly named national park, I happened upon this one. The day I paid a visit it had just rained a bit in the afternoon then cleared out for the rest of the evening. Up above this hillcrest on any given day I suspect would be ideal for watching the sunset or perhaps flying a kite. There was a consistent light breeze which felt refreshing, free from the congested traffic down below. Among the offerings include a baseball field, a modern jungle gym, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Specifically, tennis takes priority over pickleball. Further up the hill there's a small Japanese garden with a gazebo which while a bit worn out has a lot of charm. Street parking was plentiful and it never got really crowded. One thing I noticed was that my mobile network became somewhat spotty, but 'tis a minor inconvenience. If I'm free, I'd love to visit more often. read more

Sequoia Park is a small, lovely and very well maintained park within an upper middle class residential area on the hill top section of Monterey Park. It measures approximately five acres. This park offers a Japanese garden with Azumaya View Deck, softball field, children's area, lighted tennis courts, outdoor basketball court, restrooms and picnic facilities. Moreover, it has a great view of DTLA and northeast LA. Plenty of free parking. Park goers were a mixture of young kids, older people and families. Overall, this is a great park to relax, workout and play sports. I highly recommend this park. read more

Such a pretty park! This area is huge and is in a residential area so be courtesy to the neighbors. There's a nice little area where you can take pictures or even have a picnic. I've been here a few times and the environment is very calm; there's a huge field on the other side and sometimes you'll find families playing volleyball, soccer, etc. Definitely a family friendly place and covid friendly! read more

Went there Sunday morning. Its a pretty nice clean park. There's a big Field for sports. There was a soccer game happening when we arrived. There's a covered picnic table area, which seems perfect for birthday parties. There's also a tennis court and playground for kids. Lots of grassy area to sit and have a picnic in. Not covered in duck poop like many of the other LA parks. One improvement would be perhaps more trees for shade. Doggy friendly. read more

We have traveled throughout what i believe to be the majority or the park, and have rested for a picnic. so far no sequoias what so ever. hey call us silly but check it for urself. the internet doesn't have to play fair. i felt obliged for the next couple in love who get misguided before arriving here. read more

Needed a place of nature desperately around this area, so I searched on Yelp and found this park. On the drive here, you could just tell the area was getting a lot nicer, and the neighborhood also seems to be more high-end. Ice we got here, my eyes were able to feel relaxed cuz it's so green! It's a really nice little park with healthy grass, soccer field, as well as a basketball court. Kids were running around and some people were simply sitting on the grass, chatting and enjoying such a beautiful day. Parking was fairly easy, there's a lot of space on the street side. I was only able to stay for 20 mins, and it went by so fast. I wish I had more time to relax, because it was just so chill and green. It made me want to live in the neighborhood haha, wake up to a park like this. read more

I was looking for a new place to walk/play with my dog and found this little gem. It is located in Monterey Park which is close by the house. Alhambra city doesn't allow dogs in the parks so we have to find other city parks to bring our furry babies. This park is a medium sized park with a big grassy area on 2 levels of a hill, baseball field, tennis courts, parking area, and a quaint Japanese garden. It is also very clean, and located in a residential area. They have BBQ grills and benches that are maintained. The Japanese garden is pretty small and not very gardeny, mostly rocks and such. The garden also features a view deck that is bright red (can't miss it) and houses 1 table with benches. The park is very peaceful and quiet. It is very open and you can see the whole park in a glace if you stand in the right place. I would definitely recommend this park to chill, or have a big party. The only down side of the park is the located at the top of a hill, so the drive can be tricky. Drive safely! read more

When we have to pup-sit, he likes to be taken to parks with lush green grass to roll around on. I've been taking him to Barnes Park in the mornings. He loves it there, but gets a bit skittish with all the foot traffic and tai-chi folks waving their arms around. So I needed to find a quieter park. I remembered that Sequoia Park (aka Sequoia Nachi Gardens) was a beautiful small park hidden in a neighborhood high atop a hill. With a pretty Japanese garden. It was a sometimes hang-out in my high school days (eons ago) and the scene of a few family picnics. It's just as pretty as I remembered. The gardens are well-kept up and our grand-pup loved the grass. Both times we've visited (so far), I timed it after the morning work/school rush hours and before school let out. So it made for peaceful walks for both of us. Great place for his daily outings. read more

I've been searching for low-key scenic parks without the hype and found this spot. It's a spacious residential park hidden at the top of some hills. Fun drive with windows down on a sunny day. After your car climbs the slope, you'll find the park is partially flat. Therefore, the view isn't to die for and is half its potential; still pretty good for Alhambra/San Gabriel/Monterey Park area. The flat terrain allows for the baseball field, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, etc. Plus, there's lots of room for additional activities, ie. flag football, soccer, etc. There are also minor slopes here and there, so you can roll around. Good for picnics. BBQ area available with a cute Japanese garden to boot. Place is clean, including the bathroom. Folks bring their dogs and off-leash them occasionally. Sign says leashes on, but no one seems to mind.. ;) When I came, there were two picnics, a basketball game, a full baseball game, a mini baseball game, kids at the playground, and a big Poodle chillin'. It didn't feel hectic at all. :) read more

First time here today. Park is not that big, very clean though. I did not go into the restroom so I wouldn't know what or how they look like. I love that they have baggies for dog poop :) I did not need one but just in case you forgot to take one to pick up after your fur baby. It's a great park for dogs to play in. What I did not like was that I guess I didn't pay attention that this park does not have a path way to take a walk meaning like for me and the kids, it's more like run around in the grass area with your kids and dog/s. I did attempt to walk around though but I didn't feel like I actually had a work out! Overall my opinion the park is good for dogs! read more

Well kept park with tennis courts and a baseball field, but not very conducive for runners or anything up tempo aside from those who are fans of rolling down grassy hills. There are plenty of those here. Would not recommend rolling down the Ridgecrest Avenue sidewalk, however. That hill doesn't stop for miles. Or go for it, who am I to tell you what to do. read more

Sequoia Park is a great place to visit if you want to play basketball, tennis, walk your dog, have a mini picnic, or just enjoy the view of the snowy San Gabriel Mountains! Perched atop of a gorgeous hill in the nicer part of Monterey Park's residential area is this awesome park with 2 tennis courts, a mini Japanese garden, and an awesome red gazebo. I recently had a picnic/bday party here for a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was really windy, but we were so in love with this place, we didn't wanna leave. There is plenty of street parking and there is also a small lot at the bottom of the hill. I'd recommend parking on the street at the top of the hill if you want to be near the gazebo. Granted, some people wouldn't really consider this a park since it's so tiny, but I think it's the perfect size to spend a nice, quiet afternoon with friends or your SO. What I don't really like about this place is that there is a strange echo when you stand in certain parts of the park. I was probably 300 feet away from a small group people and their dogs, but was able to hear their conversation (and the cacophonous dog yelps) loud and clear thanks to the acoustics of the neighborhood. I feel bad for any residents who has to deal with loud park goers on a regular basis. read more

Recently discovered this beautiful, low-key park with my boyfriend and we are extremely happy to discover this place. It features a small bonzai garden, lush green grass, a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, handball court (yes!). and sandy play area for children. I especially love the beautiful ambiance of this place around sunset. You definitely get a feeling of safety here too since this park is up in the hills nestled in a very nice residential neighborhood of Monterey Park. It's very peaceful. This place is great for kids, romantic couples, outdoorsy people... I must warn though- now that summer is approaching- to be careful of fleas! Especially for you dog-walkers. The last time we went here me and my boyfriend both got bitten by fleas at our ankles, and it itched like hell for a full 3 days. Hopefully this doesn't discourage anyone from coming, just wear longer socks that cover your ankles because fleas are thirsty creatures that can jump pretty dang high. read more

Qigong 18 and Tai Chi are available 7 days a week - 365 days 7:30am-9:00am. Friendly group of people where everyone is welcomed to join. Don't expect high impact exercise because it is geared towards mature adults. They said the group dates back to 1990, now that's dedication! Handicap friendly. One of best parks for children and adults alike. It's peaceful and never crowded. It doesn't have a lot of play equipment. I'd say best for ages 1-5... Or if you want to take a stroll or jog around, it would be perfect. It has a pretty gazebo, benches, one tennis court and a basketball court. It is a very lovely park with lots of trees and shade. We will be going here again. There is street parking and also a parking lot. It is in a nice area as well so you will feel nice and safe. This park is in dire need of attention! The restrooms reek! They smell so bad and there was no toilet paper or trash can. People had to bring their own or use the paper towels which led to a smelly, nasty pile of used napkins next to the toilet. They don't even provide hand soap! The stairs that lead to the bathroom are an accident waiting to happen. Most of the stairs are not even complete. My niece almost fell because the screw was protruding out from the missing stair step. read more

This park is located in a residential area with neighbors that are very vigilant about what goes down on their block. A group of kids were smoking hookah in the shaded area and in no time the police showed up! Damn! Talk about enforcing the "neighborhood watch." overall, good park to chill at but I'd rather go to the nearby Sunnyslopes park instead. read more
