wednesday is very busy. When sun goes down a lot of people come here to play pickleball. We need more courts. Middle court is broken. Smith has 8 courts. This court has wind blockers. So it really does show all your errors. Alhambra is nice area. Alhambra needs more pickleball culture. The more senior players should teach the more new players the basics of the game. read more

This is my closest neighborhood park and I visit regularly as I jog through/past it 4x/week. It has always been popular with visitors and offers plenty of recreational activities. It is also well-maintained (skip the restrooms if you can) and well-lit from dusk to dawn. Plenty of parking in the area. This park also hosts a number of community events, such as the annual Veterans Day celebration and Summer Concert series. read more

A Very shady, large tree filled park. Great for walking our dog in a coolish area during these hot days. There is also a wonderful play area for children of varying ages, with challenging, fun structures. Tables for picnics, restrooms and lots of free street parking. read more

We walked over to the park to check out the Friday Summer Nights concert with an 80's music band. I was surprised to see so many neighbors pack this area of the shell stage. We were sitting close up to the stage and the music was pretty loud so sitting in the back row or on the grass like most people were would be a good idea for the sound quality too. read more

New pickleball courts (3) opened up this February at Alhambra Park. Free open play from 8am-9pm. Lights are on auto and turn off right at 9pm. Clean bathrooms and a refillable water station available. Very safe area with free street parking. It gets busy from 7pm-8pm, especially on Monday's, so be prepared to wait. Great outdoor exercise equipment available for a pre game warm up or in between games. read more

This is a big park in the city of Alhambra. It's very close behind Aldi/Chipotle and Target/Costco. There are two separate tennis courts with 2-3 courts each. There's a pickleball area with three courts. There is one outdoor basketball court (I think it's a half court) in that area next to the restrooms. The restrooms close at 9:30 PM, noted by the sign. Next to the pickleball court is a small exercise area with concrete flooring. There is a swimming pool and jungle gym for kids. The park is pretty clean for the most part. People walk their dogs here but no designated dog park. There's a corner for picnic tables under some shade covering, otherwise the park is just a huge grass area. read more

This is a small park in the neighborhood with plenty of grass and space for recreational activities. This park is tucked right behind a big street in Alhambra on Main St. They have large and small gazebos to host parties with or relax under. There's tennis and pickleball courts! This is a wonderful park that has a Dodger themed playground as well as a new ADA friendly playground. There's tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, swimming pool, splash zone, and even an auditorium. I had my son's birthday party and it was great. The area was covered which was perfect because it actually ended up raining. Go to city hall to pay to rent the picnic area in advance. Splash zone is free and fun for the kids in the summer. The restrooms were also clean which is always a plus for birthday parties. read more

This is a review specifically for the playground (tho there is lots of grassy areas and also covered picnic spots in the rest of the park). There are two separate playsets and one sad swing (used to be two, but the second one has disappeared since my last visit) plus a climbing geodesic dome thing and bouncy teeter totter. One set is for ages 2-12, the other for 5-12. The structures themselves are well-maintained but the rubberized groundcover is falling apart. Watch out for potholes! 3 stars It's an ok park. For the most part, it is relatively safe and most people are respectful. It does get crowded from time to time, especially when the City of Alhambra holds an event at the park. One thing I would like to warn the public about is that petty theft does happen from time to time. A friend of mine, who drives an old Honda, was targeted by some guys (who were in a beat up red Jeep). A Honda part was stolen from her vehicle and the wait time to get that part replaced is 5-6 months out... So, if you have a Honda or any other vehicle that has car parts that are hard to find, make sure you park your car within your line of sight. read more

Very nice and Well rounded small park with so much to offer and plenty of parking. The are Tennis and basketball courts, pool, playground, little hills with walkways, lots of trees, picnic event tables and benches and plenty of trash cans with doggy bags. It's also well lit at night for those late night walks in the park. There's also a small outdoor stage and stadium seating area where they have free summer concerts and movies. Side note: they have nice sheltered picnic areas which you're usually able to use for free if available but you are able to rent and reserve a space for your special event and number of people by going in person to the City Hall. Such a great, quiet and safe park. We've been here a couple of times and it's always super safe and full of friendly people. The park is always clean and people pick up after themselves. They have doggy bag stations but we've always seen them empty so make sure to bring your own. Very good spot to bring your kids or pets and have a picnic! read more

We moved in the neighborhood 2 years ago and love Alhambra park. There are 2 playgrounds (1 old and the other new sponsored by the Dodgers). The equipment and jungle gyms are safe and easy for children of any age to play on. We recently celebrated a birthday party here. There is a lot of grass to run around on, tables and bbq grills. Party areas are covered in case of rain. During the summer months they host movies at the park each Friday. Alhambra residents bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the warm evenings and entertainment. There is also a veterans memorial where ceremonies take place to honor military and veterans. read more

A very spacious park to walk around or to use their facilities (must RSVP) to host a party. They've come a long way. This park was never that clean before. The grass wasn't trimmed and there was dog poop everywhere from inconsiderate people walking their dogs. Thanks to the City of Alhambra for cleaning up their act. The Park seems more robust compared to years ago. The Park offers tennis courts, a swimming pool, a water fountain that squirts water which is perfect for the summer time, and cemented walkways. The only thing that's missing is a track. Personally, I prefer a park with both walkways and a track so I could put in my cardio workout. Alhambra Park is more of a regular open area park, and unlike the other parks, they don't host organized sports leagues. But still is a nice park for a stroll. read more

This review is strictly about my experience with Alhambra Park Pool's Aquatic Center and Staff from, Saturday, September 3rd. I had signed my toddler up for Tots Swim Lessons... We've enrolled in swim lessons at other facilities before and had wonderful experiences. I wanted to give this location a try because it fit our schedule. What a BIG MISTAKE!!! When class began, a female lifeguard walked up to my son and nicely tried to convince him to get into the pool. However, he got scared, started crying and hid behind me. Then, a male lifeguard who was in the pool told the female lifeguard to, "just grab him and put him in (to the pool)." I responded, "No. We will not just grab a kid from their parent." The female lifeguard stepped away and attended to other students. Seconds later, Vanessa, the manager on duty approached me and asked if there was a problem. She must've been earshot of what happened. I told her there wasn't. She said, "Okay. Well, you can't stand here (by the pool). You need to sit by the bleachers." I answered, "I understand that. I'm trying to encourage my son to go into the pool to start his lesson." She replied sternly, "Okay. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem" The male lifeguard did approach me and apologize and explained that wasn't what he meant by his statement. I appreciate that. Ten minutes pass and my son is still crying and whining about how he doesn't want me to leave his side. I continue to reassure him that I wasn't leaving him and that the lifeguards are nice people. I was able to pass him to the male lifeguard, but my son resisted any exercise effort by him. Soon after, Vanessa came back again and said, "I can't have you here anymore. You need to sit at the bleachers." Without resistance, I complied, walking away from my crying toddler. My son got out of the pool and tried to follow after me. However, Vanessa purposely blocked him by stretching her arm across him. He swatted her arm away. She crouched down and yelled, "Don't hit me! DON'T HIT ME!" It was much louder the second time where it drew attention around the pool where other patrons and lifeguards were witnessing what was happening. I was completely shocked and embarrassed. I grabbed my son to the bleachers to calm him down. Vanessa was completely out of line. She was DISRESPECTFUL, RUDE, and UNPROFESSIONAL! I should have told her that that's not how you talk to a 3-year old and how she should never prevent a child from trying to get to their guardian who is already in a frightened state. But, I didn't. Vanessa and I never exchanged words after she yelled at my son. This all happened within 15 minutes of class. I asked for a refund, but before they could, they said they needed Vanessa's approval. She was in the office while I was there and she never apologized for how she treated me or my son. She never tried to alleviate the problem by suggesting help or offering a different class. She just avoided the whole situation. To me, she doesn't carry any qualities of what a manager should be. Her body language was very standoff-ish; always having her hand on her hip and clipboard in the other. She is supposed to be trained on how to handle situations like this and this obviously showed she lacks customer service and customer recovery. Some of the lifeguards who witnessed the situation said that Vanessa handled it all wrong. Although my son was scared and upset, I was more upset by our experience. Vanessa is supposed to set an example for her fellow employees on how to solve issues and all she did was make things worse. I even had parents from the bleachers tell me that I did nothing wrong and that Vanessa's behavior was unacceptable. Not all kids are the same. My child already felt uneasy from the previous interactions I had with her and the other lifeguards; it wasn't welcoming or fun. So, BEWARE! All parents, avoid this place like the plague! read more

This is a really nice park. Lots of space spread apart because it's a really big park. I came here since I came to California. I loved the playground because it has a variety of things for kids to play in. It has swings, it has slides and places to play hide and seek in a way. I came here almost every weekend when I was a kid. My mom and dad loved taking me here. I also had a few birthday parties here because they have little sitting areas for people to host parties at. They also have a swimming pool open to the public. Post pandemic, of course. The park also have small flower fields. I've also used that area to get my photo shoots done. I'm a model. They also have small areas were you can use as photo opts. This park is very enjoyable. As I grew up, I came here just to sit and relax and remember my childhood days. This park brings back a lot of memories. I think everyone will have some kinda fun at this park. During Easter, they will have scavenger egg hunts for kids. They also have a small band theater here. Before the pandemic, they have weekly live bands that play here or ever so often they would have live bands, especially during the Summer. Give this park a try. If anything, it would be a nice serene moment for you. Enjoy the simple things on life. I only knocked down a star cause before the pandemic of course it gets crowded and harder to find parking. It's all street parking. However on the far end of the park, they have more parking but you would find yourself walking a distance to where you wanna go inside the park. read more

Went to play pickleball and the courts were easy to access. Very clean and parking wasn't bad at all.

So from what I understand, this park has a swimming pool, tennis courts, plenty of picnic areas, a small amphitheater, and like many public parks, gross bathrooms. Oh, and it appears dogs are not allowed here which has incensed many people on Yelp. It sounds like a fairly typical park, yes? Well, feast your eyes on this Dodger play structure in the kiddie area. What other park can boast that it has one of these? Even the trash cans are emblazoned with the Dodger logo. A must visit if you're a rabid Dodger fan, whether you have kiddos or not. Since the start of the quarantine and staying in, I've had to come up with places to take my dog. He's gotten quite bored with our daily walks and I was looking for a change of scenery. I thought I'd give Alhambra Park a try. Even though I've passed it plenty of times, I've never realized how expansive it is. There's picnic tables, a swimming pool, tennis courts and plenty of room for a dog to roam and explore. If it gets too hot the numerous trees provide adequate shade. The park is always clean and well maintained. I'm glad we have so many parks and this one has become a favorite. read more

Great pool and great staff. I was there the other day and witnessed an altercation between one of the patrons and a female lifeguard. The lady didn't pay to use the pool and was trying to get in, and the lifeguard wouldn't let her so she threw a tantrum. And then her child was taking way too long to jump off the diving board so the same lifeguard asked him politely to climb down because he was holding up the line and she threw another tantrum. Then she claimed the lifeguard was racist? Anyways, the female lifeguard handled it so well and was professional throughout the whole altercation. The staff in general is very professional and cool. Too bad people have to come in and ruin the fun for everyone. read more

Review for Tennis courts: -The park itself is not that large, but timing is key to getting a good tennis court. The individual one is usually free in the mornings (7am-8am) but you can almost always play in the combined courts, just sharing. The only times it's very packed is in the afternoons, after people get off work/school so AVOID going at that time. Park: plenty of parking all around, very SAFE really because there's always people there, but not overly packed. Not the prettiest park, but serves the purpose and convenience. Cleanliness: eh, could be better. They have picnic areas and a theater. Bathrooms near the courts too. Downsides: -NOISY - cars, firetrucks, police cars, ambulances passing by -DOGS - as obvious as it is, people still bring dogs to the park and even worst, they play with the inside the courts which is prohibited. -SOCCER - the game is so rough, it has destroyed the tennis courts nets and wind blockers many times, it's sad but thankfully they fixed them. -GARDENING - Noisy and allergen lifter. Usually in the mornings Overall, a good place to chill, grab some ice cream nearby at Fosselmans and walk around if that's more your liking. read more

We are long time south Pasadena residents and frequent Alhambra park pool three to four times a week. We love the facility & staff, Andres in particular. He is one of the lifeguards. He's always so pleasant, respectful, and most of all encouraging to the kids. He have witnessed him time and time again help kids of all ages overcome their fears when it comes to pool play and recreation. So why the one star? Well today we had the worst experience with consistency, customer service, and to be frank, discrimination. I was told I was not able to put my feet in the water. Read that again, as a paying customer, long time resident, and frequent pool goer was told I cannot put my feet in the pool? I obliged because well I'm a rule follower. My husband read the written rules and of course this ridiculous "policy" was not in writing. So, he went to ask the reasoning behind it. As I've said we go there often and my feet in the pool has never been a problem, until today. Isa, another lifeguard or maybe a managerial position I presume, told my husband it's a safety concern in case they need to "pull someone out of the water that has a spinal injury." Hopefully you are just as confused and concerned as I am. My husband is a trained combat medic and I have a masters in nursing, although, I don't think you need a medical background to see through that makeshift excuse. To make matters worse, there was a group of women across the pool, on the steps, at the literal entry way of the pool, with guess what?! Their feet in the water. I guess the rules apply depending on whether Isa likes you or the color of your skin. I wish this was the end of it. Unfortunately, today's pool experience worsened. My son, who is afraid of heights, summed up the courage to try the high dive. Remember Andres? The encouraging lifeguard that has helped so many kiddos overcome their fears. Well, like clockwork, as he observed my son begin to hesitate and doubt himself, he didn't miss a beat and was right there willing to take the time and motivation it needed to coax him over his fears. And wouldn't you know it? Isa grabs a MEGAPHONE and yells at my son to get down, resulting in tears, embarrassment, and further trauma surrounding his fear of heights. I am so disappointed in the inhumane display of a power trip I was unfortunately on the wrong side of. But more importantly, my heart breaks for what my son had to endure. You should be ashamed of yourself. After reading other pool reviews, this does not appear to be an isolated incident. read more

Fun and spacious. We love the splash pad in the summertime and the free lunches for children. I've never tried the swimming pool, so I can't comment on that. Lots of grassy areas to play in. I heard the playground was renovated with the Dodgers, so gotta go back and check it out. read more

walk along like zombies at 5 a.m. Well I'd feel that way too at 5 a.m. But there are people out here at 5 a.m. Some barely awake...others jogging.. Even in that brutal 35 degree weather we had. These are hard core exercise peeps. But this park has a special touch to it. Rolling hills with tall trees providing shade Over several acres of property. Picnic tables covered by awesome green foilage Badminton courts readily available Walkways throughout the park and best of all A spectacular Olympic size pool.
