Great little park for families! I brought my baby here and we had such a great time! Story Park has two separate playgrounds, which is perfect for kids of different ages. There's also a volleyball net, a baseball field, and plenty of picnic tables. It's clean, well-kept, and has lots of space to run around. I'd definitely recommend it for a small kid's birthday party or just a fun afternoon out. We'll be coming back for sure! read more

We attended a birthday party here. It was fun because they had picnic tables with lots of big trees for shade. Kids were able to run on the big grass field and use the baseball diamond as well. Be careful, it's a small park with a deep incline to get down there, so go slow. There was a kid that took the scooter down the asphalt trail and ate it big time. read more

Nice small park with soo much to offer in a relaxed friendly neighborhood. There's usually plenty of street parking available. There is plenty of vegetation and trees which provide plenty of shade and because of its location, this park tends to stay cooler during the hot days. There are plenty of trees to sit under and enjoy a picnic oe a book on a blanket or at the picnic tables (which you can also reserve ahead of time). The Playground area for the kiddies, has two sets of jungle gyms; one for smaller and the other for bigger kids. There's also a Volleyball net, a baseball area, and Tennis and basketball courts on the opposite corner. read more

Hi I visited story park, to use the restroom, Restroom was very dirty, cement floors need to be disinfected with a pressure washer, disinfect all sinks handles, they have rust all over them and black scum, toilets need to be disinfect , walls need to be cleaned. Felt like no one has updated or given a review in awhile. The park itself is maintained and clean with staff attend to it regularly. The bathrooms are cleaner than other parks with toilet paper. It's a cute, very small park like others mentioned. The park is great if you have small kids as there's two sections for the playground (one for small kids and other slightly older) and it's enclosed so kids can't escape onto the street quickly. The only way is to move up the hill, slowing them down. The reason I gave it two stars is because it does get creepy. There's ALWAYS people sleeping or doing whatever they do in cars by the streets. And it's multiple cars. Someone sleeping on the playground while kids play. I've also been cursed by a homeless man as I was waking by. Cops do not really patrol here. I don't come here if others aren't around, as I don't feel safe. If anything happens there's no way out. read more

I remember the city would allow garage sales to be held in the parking lot once a year, but that hasn't happened in a long time. read more

This used to be THE park for me, but that was because I was young, lived about a block away and I didn't know there were other parks beyond Chapel Ave. This park is TIE-KNEE! It's the perfect little park for a small picnic, or a romantic little date. The park is pretty much a small a small bowl, so the traffic and noise is above you and you get your privacy. Unlike other parks, this place is quiet, has no wild animals and small enough for you to stand on one end and see the entire park without turning your head much. Back in the day, they used to serve lunch during the summer time to kids (like they do at Almansor and other parks). If I'm not mistaken, I think they still do. There's a small playground for the little children to run around and play in. Sandbox too. There's also one baseball diamond for smaller baseball/softball games. I've also seen some small groups of young soccer players coming here to practice. The park's not big enough for a full-on game. I love this park, but am giving it only 3 stars because I'm a big girl now and have a need for a larger playground. I've embraced the streets of my city and those nearby as my new playground, but occasionally make it back here for a different kind of workout with my boyfriend...we like the privacy. A really small park, perfect for quick afternoon picnic or just a stroll around the area. Although the park is pretty small and there's not much to it, it is kept in relatively good shape, and there isn't much trash or it isn't too crowded. My biggest complaint really would just be the size. There is a baseball diamond for those interested, as well as a few playground toys and a sand area. Unfortunately, they are lacking swings :(. Almansor Park, Lacy Park, and Garfield park are other parks around the area that I can think of. They are all bigger than here so if you're looking for somewhere to explore, they may be better choices! read more

Story park is a small secluded park that most people in Alhambra ignore. Filled with a small softball field and tree the park offers much peace and quiet.Most of the time the park is pretty empty with the occasional group of young children playing ground. One of the issues I have had with the park is that it is very difficult to actually use the softball field without hitting someone, or hitting parked cars. I do not think it is a smart place to have a softball field, but still good to have. The sight of a small playground surrounded by a grass field and trees is very relaxing. Even with the city wash lying directly behind the park, the park looks very nice with all its plants and other vegetation. The park also has a sand pit that can be used to play volleyball,offering activities for just about anybody. The sight of the park is quite nice,and really has no eye sores. The park is normally very quiet. Typically the only sounds is birds, or the water in the wash or often the sound of children playing. There are however those rare times where you will here the sound of balls coming off bats,usually Sunday afternoons. Normally the park tends to be very quiet with just the sounds of nature and the occasional car driving by. During the summer time story park offers a free lunch for children 18 years and under. As a child I would go eat the free lunch they gave about 3 times a week and most of the time the lunches were pretty good. Yes they are completly free, so it is not gourmet but for small kids playing in the summer it is really good, plus they have games and park staff to talk to. read more

Aw, what a cute little park! This is one of our favorite places to each lunch when we are the neighborhood. We get our food togo, hop back in the car, find a shady spot among other cars doing the same, and grub. Things I love about this park: * It is so obvious that they take great care of this place. So clean, so green and manicured. (also, um, no one "living" here) * Bathrooms are always clean and stocked * Pretty calm place to take my dog for a quick potty break (please clean up after your dog people!) * Plenty of parking * It feels SAFE. Wish I could say the same for other LA parks... Cons: * What's this about not allowing dogs?!?! * It could be ... prettier. I mean, there's no fountains or flowers. This is a great tiny park in the nicest part of Alhambra. I am only giving it 3 stars because there are creeps who park alongside the quiet street and I have witnessed some indecent and illegal activity there from time to time. Alhambra PD needs to patrol it more often especially in the evenings to put some fear in the pervs and druggies who use the park and surrounding streets for their entertainment. read more

I have been playing tennis recently. One of the lights has not been working when I started. Now 2 of them are off! I am hoping the Alhambra community will repair this soon! The park is creepy at night. Their is minimal lighting, and they are just so dim. Being on the bottom of a hill and in a corner, you never know what is happening down there. During the day, the park is nicely shaded and they have a lot of green/trees around the playground. The parking lot is small, but you can do street parking. They have restrooms on the bottom and on top of the hill. There is also a old-folks facility there. read more

Grabbed frozen yogurt for the kids and I didn't want to eat them at the movie theatre plaza , I yelped "parks" and this popped up, I had no idea this little park existed, in the backside of Ross. Lots of shade and benches . A small play area for elementary sized kids . Some guys were playing cricket on the baseball field, pretty entertaining . I think there is a back way for parents with strollers , it's not accessible from the front due to the very steep incline to enter this tiny park. In essence , this park is good to eat your "to-go" grub and have small kids play. read more

GOOD place to go place tennis. Although there is only two courts there is rarely anyone there. even if there is you'll only have to wait like ~30mins or less for the court unlike garvey/emerson park, almansor, smith, etc. I practically always go here almost every week.! read more

This is a fairly small park, set in a quiet part of the neighborhood. It's nice and clean with a fair amount of trees and a large slope covered with lush, green grass. It's always been well maintained, and looks a lot better after the renovation (sometime ago) of the playground and concrete paths around the back end. At night, however, there's fairly nothing to do, and there are only a few lampposts to light the park. I'd prefer coming to this park for a quiet time on days when no one's throwing a party here. This place is secluded, situated in a glenlike area, and fewer people frequent this place as opposed to Almansor and Alhambra. When it's nice and quiet, there's a certain zen about the place. There's usually a few spaces on the street for parking, but since it's residential, it can often be occupied by visitors from residents just across the street or up the block. Still, it's usually possible to find parking around the side. There isn't a dedicated lot for this park, so there are time when you might not find any. This place is good for picnics, or parties and chilling. It has a bathroom and two playgrounds for kids. There's also a sandpit for volleyball and an area for baseball. But since it's not that big, the park can get filled like crazy at times, and you're not left with much to do but sit on the slope, unless you're there for the playground. It's definitely easier to find a place for parties at Alhambra Park, but it's not as well maintained, or people just don't try to keep it clean at all. Something like that. Story Park is all around an A-OK park. I used to come here a lot when I was a kid, but now it's more for a bit of nostalgia and a bit of zen in a quiet slice of Alhambra with the feel of a glen. read more

**This review is for Tennis Courts Only** Has two courts, usually not occupied after 12pm, for a reason.....These courts are reserved for seniors every day till 11am ish and they actually play, so they get the right to courts till then. These two courts are pretty private feel as they are located under a hill. BUT it is full of cracks, bumps, billion of dead leaves and uneven surface. Rain usually gets trapped there for days where sun don't shine. My last resort for tennis, if I want to play that badly. read more

i like this park, i frequently run thru it whenever i'm staying with relatives in alhambra. there's some good running paths, several tennis courts, and lots of grassy areas for a picnic or just chilling out. there's a fair amount of parking by the tennis courts. the topography is a bit unusual here since the park itself appears to be mostly "sunken in" and you will need to walk down the stairs/ramp in order to access the tennis courts and recreational areas. just be careful not to fall and watch out for the creek down below! read more

I've always loved this park. I used to come here as a kid and enjoyed the time spent here. I bring my son here to play catch and baseball. He also loves this park. When you throw a birthday party, it easy to get a space without having to worry about sending your little nephew to hold space( i.e Alhambra Park). if they allowed dogs, i'd give this park a higher review. it's a nice and clean park with it's own bathroom. the playground looks nice and the baseball field is well taken care of (from what i can see). there's always families with kids playing there. it's got a nice hill if you want to bring something to slide down on (like some cardboard or a plastic tray from a fast-food restaurant). there are no lights so don't stay after dark. the park is broken up into 2 parts. the noth side of the park has the baseball field, playground and bathrooms. you have to cross the street (Woodward) to get to the tennis courts, and the Center (meeting building). NOTE: they found a dead body / murder at Story Park near the flood control channel in April 2010, so be careful! and don't hang around after dark. read more

Not much to do in this little park, but the upkeep is good - and it has a recreational center that offers classes of all kinds throughout the year. HOWEVER, like all parks in Alhambra, California - dogs are not allowed. That earns the park only one star from me...a resident who finds this sad and aggravating. I should not have to drive to another city to take my dog to a park. The parks in Alhambra also seem to rule out many other types of fun as there's a huge list of things not allowed posted on signs throughout their parks. Came here with a friend to visit another friend working her summer job taking care of little kids. This park is very quiet, clean, and well maintained. Parking isn't that bad since you can always park on the streets (just be careful to read the signs). Trees and benches are provided to enjoy quality resting time watching young children play. Nice place but very small (which is great because that means less people!!!) but if you want to go just to think and get your minds off things this isn't to bad a place!
