Be careful There's alot of cayotes here Overall it's nice but dangerous Nice spacious fields

Mini cups of ice cream sold here! Very nice man and perfect portion for kids. $1.50 each

One of the cleaner parks that we have been to around the SGV area. Large grass area for kids to run around and a newer rocket themed playground that was recently built. There's a side for the older kids and right next to it a smaller area for kids ages 2-5. Observatory opened every Wednesday night.

Even tbough this park is small, it has a lot to offer. The park is well maintained and there's A LOT of parking with not one, but two lots on opposite ends of the park. There's also plenty of benches for parents to rest while the kiddos play on the 2 playgrounds here. There's a huge area of grass here. The lawn is well kept and always green. There's also 2 baseball fields and basketball courts. At the edge of the park, they also have tennis courts. At the front of the park, there are 3 huge gazebos with bench tables and sinks with running water. There's also charcoal grills here if you want a BBQ day. There's more than enough trash cans if you want to have a party here.

Went to the observatory tonight with a meetup group (thanks Randy!) and I had a great time! Very knowledgeable cosmologists there who showed us celestial bodies and gave us a great lecture. It was my first time there and I'll be going back for more planet and stargazing. Parking was a little bit cramped because there was a little league game taking place but not too bad. We were led up to the observation area by a narrow staircase.

First playground

First time visiting this park. I was pleasantly surprised and it's now one of my favorite parks. Just enjoyed the vibe. It's spacious and clean.

Nice park! Covid-friendly as there is enough space to distance yourself from others. There is a loop track with a nice hill if you are a walk or runner. As per usual I left a #BeeTheReason rock in gratitude for the awesome workout this outdoor space provided for me.

Great park/facilities. The only issue is parking on weekends if it's baseball season.

Parking can be found along McPherrin or other surrounding streets if you can't find parking. Entertainment: The city usually hosts a decent amount of festivities for the community at this park. Current Events: From May 7 - 10, they're celebrating cinco de mayo (5/7/2026 :5pm to 10pm and Monterey Parks birthday (5/7/2026 to 5/10/2026). Barnes Park Offerings: 1) Pickleball Courts (6) /Tennis (1): 2 month's ago they repaved and installed permanent pickleball nets. There's only one tennis court now... haha Pickleball is taking over! Pickleball courts are closed starting 5/4/2026 to 5/12/2026. Will reopen on 5/13/2026. 2) Baseball/Softball Field 3) Community Center 4) Gymnasium: Indoor basketball and pickleball courts (7pm - 10pm) 5) Restrooms: They're available. Not really clean though. 6) Teqball table: Don't see people use this table to play. I guess I'll watch this on youtube for now. Hopefully, one day.... I'll be able to see this sport in real life. Barnes For Thought: Overall, it's a nice park. Pretty cool that they had enough funding to install permanent pickleball courts. Perhaps the next thing they can fix up is the restrooms.

It has always been a well-maintained park with plenty of offerings, although the pool is currently closed. Plenty of parking in their lot (on the south side) or surrounding streets although parking can get tough when there are major events.

This park is a great gathering and refresh place for the community of San Gabriel for leisure exercise nature walks for children and adults alike. There is a couple of playgrounds located inside Vincent Lugo Park, one of which is La Laguna playground with huge animal shaped installments for children to play & explore and a regular playground with swings & climbing/jungle gyms. For adults, there are outdoor exercise equipment, which I saw are located in two separate places.. There are more nooks & crannies for me to explore that I may find in my next visit. Picnic tables are found some shaded some not, bbq grills, too. Additionally, there are covered tables and chairs as well for the community to hold parties or any kind of celebration. Walking paths are available, both cement & ground (clay-like). I noticed that there were a few sets of people doing tai chi-a few of them brought their music to coordinate their movements. It seems like small park tucked away, almost hidden. It's like a nature trail for me. I figure I could cut across the Alhambra Wash path to walk to it next time. Restrooms available, ample parking spaces. Lots of trees, greens. I love this "discovery"

Other than that, great park with sand! So be careful!
